Asthena: Many women inabusive relationships aremade to feel as no one else will have them. Their self esteem gets broken and they forget that there are somemen out there that will treat them good. I mean if ever was getting beat I might forget that and question why this was happening to me. Its never that simple and there are women that have children with these men and try to stay with them for that reason.

I remember the 1st time I saw and really paid any real attention to this video, the end of it had me feeling so hurt. Like a movie where a sweet, innocent person is killed. My bestfriend was in a relationship like that and had his baby, I was so angry at her that I didn’t talk to her for the duration of her pregnancy but I think that me going back into her life after the baby was born helped her have the courage to leave his sorry ass because I swore I would always be there for her and the baby, I’d be an extra mommy and said jokingly to her “Ida pappy”. Speaking as a sister that was once in an abusive relationship it is a mind game. You are made to feel worthless like no one would want you or could ever love you like him(the cowardly abuser). It also comes from low self esteem to even believe that. And having children by the abuser makes matters worse. I was blind for about 2 years but thank GOD I got out. and No lie it was Lauryn HIll’s miseducation of Lauryn Hill that made me open up my mind and see the light to leave that idiot. Praise God!

Now I am married to the most wonderful man I could ever ask for. He loves me no doubt and I love him we have NEVER had issues of domestic voilence and he treats me like a queen as I treat him as my King that he IS. I was thinking about this reading these posts. I was the exact same way until i got into a relationship like that. Shoot to be honest while we were together the abuse wasn’t him putting his hands on me and me just taking it….we was literally duking it out like 2 men. But in the end I was still blind while I was there because I had ppl telling me to leave that good for nothing blah blah and blah….. and I stayed. Because I was made to think that no one else would want me and I was trying to stay for the baby and all the other excuses that I made up. Point blank you don’t HAVE to be stuck. I commend eve for making this song when she did.

My mother was in several relationships that led to domestic violence as my brother and I were growing up. My brother wound up beating down the last hushand for slapping her and he was in 12th grade at the time. Some women just feel they need these men. In later years, he came back and they were not together. I wtinessed him knock her two front teeth out over a phone call from another guy and he didnt’ even live there. That incident scarred me 4 life. I vowed from then on, when I became an adult, I wold not allow myself or my children to go thru that.

Ladies, make sure you know the man you love! If he’s abusing you, find a way to GET OUT and take the kids! God will make a way! Trust that! That’s real talk!

And for the people talking about oh I would never do this or that…please. I said the same thing and I was in an abusive relationship before. But I will admit that I may have started it. I was dating this guy for 5 years and I had a bad temper when I was young. So I used to always fight him and he never fought back. Well one day I got angry at something (can’t remember) and I grabbed his head and was hitting it up against the wall. Well he finally hit me and that was the start of something I regret. Needless to say, we were in many, many fights after that. And I still stayed with him. I also got into a relationship with another guy who jumped on me after our first year in front of my kids. And I could have made one call to end his life but I was in love with him and didn’t want to see him dead. But my cousin was saying oh no, ain’t no nicca gonna ever put his hands on me. I wish a nicca would. Needless to say, she is in a relationship now where a guy did and she still wants to be with him. So my point is don’t say what you would or would not do unless you have actually been through it. D@mn, I didn’t mean to write a whole book.
