Personally, I think she did a good job on the song (and this is where I’ll be attacked), but I think that she has CLEARLY been affected by the attention JHUD’s been getting, and she is stepping outside of her normal performance boundaries, and trying really hard to be more emotional. When she performed this song on Oprah, she did a good job, but she didn’t break it down like THIS.
Now that JHUD is clearly getting tons of kudos for her acting, Bey is kicking it up a notch (and ain’t nothing wrong with that). I think this whole project has been a growth for her. Beyonce is not stupid, and she does not like to lose. I think she sees what the best people do, and she does it. If you look at the acclaim the people playing Effie is getting is because of the emotion they pour out. She does that in this video. She has to be more emotional if she wants to win an Oscar for this song. No if’s, ands or buts. And trust, she WANTS to win that Oscar.
I’m not knocking her, just observing the distinct changes in her performance style in this video. I have nothing against her. She’s very talented.

She definitely changed her performance style for this video. That’s why people are saying it’s not “natural.” I think people are just saying, “This ain’t the Bey we’re used to.” That’s all. Again, I can clearly see her evolution from being in Dreamgirls, but I think mostly, she sees why people are loving JHUD, and she’s incorporating some of those characteristics into her own performance.
Maybe “Bee” will get a toothpaste or mouthwash endorsement out of all this! I bet she needs it. But hey I can still look at her without smelling that FUNK! Good night LOSERS!

#271, Irreplaceable is one of my favorite songs of ALL of Beyonce’s songs. It’s very organic. LOL No seriously, it’s just a simple song that expresses an emotion that SO MANY PEOPLE can relate to. We’ve all been dumped or dumped somebody. Or felt unappreciated by someone. I love her performance in the video, too. LOL Her sense of humor comes out a bit. I think she’s really growing as an artist. I’m feeling it.
I think Listen is a beautiful song, and truly worthy of and Oscar for Best Original song in a film. I mean, if Three 6 mafia can win one, surely this deserves the statue. Everything about this song is powerful and beautiful. Beyonce definitely is leading the pack for the young black songstresses in Hollywood. Hate her or not, you can’t deny this woman’s talent. I bought her album despite all of the crap I heard about it and I must say it is the effing bomb BUT she really screwed up with the videos this time around. Irreplaceable was the best video she did for this album. It’s like she’s not even trying…
This song is so powerful and beautiful, but I think the video was underdone. You would think she would kinda take on a character role to really express and illustrate the song and tell a story. It’s like she’s not putting any effort into these videos. It’s like it was shot in a couple of hours and it’s just flat.
