    Congrats to all the nominees

  2. wassup

Well deserved to all nominees, congratulations! Hopefully they will get the same nod for the Oscar awards.

  3. Idon’t know about bee as best actress. I like listen alot so that nominee is warranted.

  4. first time

why did beyonce get best actress if she’s not the lead role??? i’m not hating i just don’t understand how that works

  5. Mo

I am so glad to see we are really representin this year. I am pulling for Will or Forest for best actor!

  6. Dave

GO HEAD BEYONCE and the cast of Dreamgirls. Thats great. I hope she wins but to even be nominated in the best actress category is an honor.

  7. H-Town Chic*

Congrats to everyone I hope everyone can bring something home!!!

  8. Ms.Howard

    Congrats to Jennifer and Eddie.

Okay, Beyonce can be nominated for best song and for as many grammys as she wants and I wouldn’t care, but when you start nominating this girl for her acting that’s where I draw the line. WTF!!! Where the hell is Sasha when she’s acting? You can say whatever you want, but the girl can’t act and you all know it. She’s a good singer but an actress she’s not.

  9. wassup

Well deserved to all nominees, congratulations! Hopefully they will get the same nod for the Oscar awards. Although I will have to see Beyonce to make judgement on this one was not convinced on her acting skills on her other movies.

  10. H-Town Chic*

    Ok I’m not first…

@#4 I was wondering the same thing myself and I’m not hatin I’m Bey’s biggest fan. I thought she would have to nominated for best supporting actress. I don’t know I guess I gotta see the movie.

I think she should win for the song “listen”

  11. Carrington in Houston

I’m suspect of ANY “award” list that has Beyonce nominated in the ACTING category!!!

I loves Beyonce’, (as a singer/performer) Gawd knooows I do, but ahh slice a mf dead for sayin she can ack!

    THEY lyin!!!!

  12. MissTee2U

Let the Beyonce bashing begin…from those who have yet to even see the movie.
I love Will (whispers) but I don’t think that was an Oscar performance. But it’s a weak field and if he gets it, I will not be mad.
I am happy about the nominations for “Babel” which had a very racially diverse cast and told a really good story. I get sick of movies about white people so I’m glad “Babel” and “Dreamgirls” are Oscar front-runners. (But watch “The Departed” pull an upset so Scorcese can get an Oscar. Mind you, “The Departed” is a remake of a Hong Kong film called “Infernal Affairs.”)
Brad Pitt killed it in Babel, but I can’t speak on that as it relates to DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson yet…but does Jack Nicholson need another Oscar? They’ve been dying to give DiCaprio one though, but while I like him as a actor, I don’t love him as an actor.
Adriana Barranza, the Latina actress from “Babel” should get every award they dish out. She killed it.
J.Hud, I want to be down for my people but I’m an acting fan….so I have to go for the Latina sister.

  13. ch

YAY! for Chiwetel Ejiofor’s double nomination. I am also thrilled for Hudson, Whitaker and Sophie Okonedo. Congratulations to all.

  14. veturnera

Did any of ya’ll notice how slick and sly those producers of “The good Shepherd” started advertising just recently? We’ve all been hearing about Dreamgirls for like ‘ever’ to come out on Christmas, and now ‘boom’, we’re hearing about this angelina jolie/ Matt damon flick, that will probably beat dreamgirls at the box office. Well, not if we can help it, right fellow Loopers?!?

  15. mai03

I STATED IN ANOTHER THREAD THAT DJIMON HONSU WAS ROBBED FOR A NOMINATION FOR BLOOD DIAMOND. AND NO NOD FOR JADEN SMITH OR JAMIE FOXX…WELL MAYBE NEXT TIME.

BEYONCE IS UP AGINST ANNETTE BENNING AND MERYL STREEP FOR BEST ACTRESS. TWO VERY SEASONED ACTRESSES.

WILL AND FORREST ARE UP AGAINST LEO DICAPRIO FOR BEST ACTOR. ALL THREE WELL DESERVED ACTORS!

    CONGRATS TO ALL!

  16. AndreUnCut

I will say nothing mean today until I see this movie for three cast members to get nod is a wonderful black thing. I hope that this movie does’nt disappoint.
    Congrads to all.

  17. mya

Wow Im just happy for everyone!!!

  18. H-Town Chic*

The movies Beyonce done in the past has no comparison to “Dreamgirls”. The other movies she done were comedy or romantic comedy. This is a straight up drama flick. So we don’t know what she can do. I know as far as Academy Awards they don’t nominate people just their famous. So I think she had to do a good job. Save the hatin til you see it, give the girl the benefit of the doubt.

  19. Jennifer got robbed already. Dayum! I dont understand either First Time. Those nominations should be reversed. Whatever!

  20. wifey

#12 Carrington in Houston…you got my DYING laughing here! ROFLMAO…that was well put. LOL

  21. wifey

#13…dang…I didn’t even know Babel was out yet. I wanted to see it, but guess I’ll catch it on DVD. LOL These studios do not promote these movies right.

  22. PALMBEACHFINEST

LMAO!!!!!!!! BEYONCE=BEST ACTRESS? THIS SHIT JUST KEEPS ON GETTIN BETTER!!!!

  23. CONGRATULATIONS to ALL of the BLACK ACTORS on their SUCCESS!

Read the big print ppl! Damn.

  24. Jefferson

all these films have been shown or previewd

so for some one to to that beyonce shouldnt be up 4 best actress is stupid if you havent seen it

people should jst go on what they have seen
you need to see the film before you pass judgement i fought that was how things went.

Lead role or not some one somewhere thinks she should be nominated and if she wins WOW
    but newyz
ITs great to see all these BLACK names.
i definatly there will be aleast 4 winners out of these
    there jst has to be

  25. I knew this shit would start right up.
I say bravo to both J. Hud & Bey for their nods. There is room enough for more than 1 star people!
And actually, the role Beyonce plays(4 those not familiar with the concept of Dreamgirls) requires her to “tone” her talent down for the sake of the story line. I think it’s pitiful that people cast so much hate & doubt before they have even seen the movie. Give the girl a damn break!
Eddie got a nod too! I can’t wait to see the movie!

  26. tbrown

I think the upset would be more agitated had Jennifer NOT received a nomination, and Beyonce had.

I’ve not seen the film in its entirety, but I’m embracing the fact that black folk are all up and in through these awards. It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?

    Congrats to all!

I can’t wait for the Oscar nominations to come out.

  27. H-Town Chic*

I wonder why the movie “Bobby” wasn’t nominted? Probably because it was about a democrate. I know they better not come out with a movie about BUSH!!!

  28. first time

i know… i’m not saying whether or not beyonce can act becuz i haven’t seen the movie but i don’t understand how the actress with a supporting role gets nominated for best actress. that would have been like oprah getting nominated for best actress in The Color Purple and whoopie getting best supporting actress when the whole story was based around Celie’s life not Sophia’s… u get what i’m saying??? they both were great but whoopie wouldn’t have been a supporting role…

yes listen is a very nice song… i’m glad it got nominated.

  29. HMM WE WILL ALL BE BACK ON HERE IN A COUPLE MONTHS CURSING LIKE HELL!!! LOL

  30. #13 mai03:
I’m upset about Djimon not getting a nod. Blood Diamond is a brilliant movie (bring tissues people) and Leo was great in that, but Djimon was equally magnificant!
Leo is nominated twice against Will & Forest for best Actor(Blood diamonds/Departed) both good movies, I’m sure we know who’s going to win that one. Forest was fabulous, though! Great movie nods this year!

Ans Sophie Okenode is so pure in her roles! She always impress me emotionally

  31. Black Star Power….Very Nice.

  32. I don’t understand the big deal. All you hear is JHud stole the show. Beyonce can’t act. Her booty this, he sucked that.

Beyonce doesn’t have to prove anything, she has already pissed in her yard and marked her territory in this industry.

JHud is coming in behind that. Not saying that it’s bad. Bey has already did what she had to do…..a long ass time ago.

At the end of the day, Bey is still going to be Bey, singer, entertainer, actor and Jay-Z’s chick. And JHud is hopefully going to become whatever it is she was destined to be in life. Whatever the outcome, they are both BLACK women who are successful.

Now to whom it may concern…………Take sips of the Hater-Aid, because there will be more to come.

  33. I knew Bee would get an BEST ACTRESS nod…and Goden Globe predicts the Oscars…so we know she will get nominated there as well…

    Thats whats up!

    BashyBoo – You’re so right.
I am glad to see the nominations, but they almost seem positioned so that they will not win… and it’s not likely in their first time out with a movie in an all black cast. We have seen this too many times before. Color Purple – 12 oscar nominations and NO awards at all.

Good to at least see the recognition. I hope they all do well. Recognized or not they are good movies with good story lines.

  35. first time

*** drifts off*** i love the color purple….

  36. mai03

@31: I feel ya, I kind of got a feeling that Forrest is gonna take it though—he is getting major buzz to win for best actor! very deserving –remeber when he played Mad Dog in Jason’s lyric? Fabulous performance–have loved him ever since! but the Academy needs to quit sleeping on Djimon!!!! Fingers crossed for J-hud and Eddie to win too! We will see 01-15-07!

  37. Notonmylevel

#28 Bobby did get nominated for 2 Golden Globes.

  38. SlimKim

Mrs. Knowles-Carter for best actress? What a joke! I understand the Golden Globes trying to be diverse, but come on! Best song? Okay, that’s a little more like it.

  39. Heavyn

Wow, Beyonce for best actress thats a bit much…but I guess stranger things have happened..But im glad to see we got our top actors/actress’ being recognized.

  40. I never watch these boring awards. It’s good to see Blacks getting some shine tho.

  41. Martinique_fr

Congrats to all the nominees … I’m pleased with the nominations; but we all know Beyonce has no chance winning in her category … come on now .. “best actress”? … I think not.

  42. PO BOI

I never knew how good Listen was until I saw the clip from the movie…it gave me chills. The song by Mary and Aretha for the movie ‘Bobby’ may be a good contender, too.

People of color are doing more than rocking grills and getting arrested for weapons, we are kicking down doors, breaking records, and entering into the ‘white man’s world of awards’.

  43. first time

i doubt i’ll watch…. i’ve missed like every award show this year… even the ones i meant to watch but forgot. just let me know the outcome…….

  44. Please watch this and pray. It’s time to pray ppl

  46. undenied one

All I gotta do is turn on The Fighting Temptations and I’ll see why she won’t get no Oscar/Golden Globe/ or anything

  47. me

bey is not getting an oscar nod

  48. hotstuff

Hey everyone! It’s my birthday!! I am more of a everyday reader on CL than someone who usually gives input but I felt I had to today. I was thinking the same thing #29 was thinking. And I am a Bey fan but I’m starting to wonder if those rumors about her parents paying everyone off or stepping in to be sure that Bey stays on top is true or not. I never really believed it until now. Just saying……. Anyway Happy Birthday to me!!!!

  49. candi*G

im still wondering who BEYONCE spreaded her legs to for that BEST ATRESS award??? we seen her in CARMEN BROWN lol that shit was horrible! bad bad bad, impersonation of the ledgen DOROTHY DANDRIDGE….. did she or didnt she PAY someone for this AWARD or did she F*** SOMEONE FOR IT?

  50. Beyonce worked 6 months with Halle Berry’s acting coach…and I think she could get it

when Beyonce wins this Oscar and then lMAO at the haters

  51. bailey

    congrats to all the nominees,

I predict beyonce will win for the song she wrote for dream girls.

Just my opinion-can’t wait to see if I’m right

  52. Lace Front Larry

    YOU FORGOT PRINCE!!!!!!

He is also nominated for his song, “Song of The Heart” from the movie Happy Feet

  53. Anonymous

WTF???? If Effie is supposedly the main character, then y is Jhud getting a nod for best SUPPORTING actress and Beyonce is getting the best actress nod????

Nice to see blk power…but the truth will only be seen in ACTUAL wins….i think we have it in the bag this yr…there have been 2 many positive, meaning movies this time around for us not to.

  54. @# 5 I hear Forrest Whitaker is a shoe in for Best Actor at both the Globes and the Oscars. And I must say that I hope he wins b/c the last king of Scottland was an amazing movie.

  55. @MRSDAWSON
What is it? I can’t open it up from work

  56. I SAW DREAMGIRLS LAST NIGHT AND EVERYONE PLAYED THEIR PARTS WELL. YES, THIS INCLUDES BEYONCE. DONT COUNT HER OUT UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY SEE THIS MOVIE. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR PEOPLE TO GROW AND IMPROVE. SHE HAS. CONGRATS TO B! SHE WON’T WIN BUT A NOMINATION IS ENOUGH.

JENNIFER HUDSON IS THE STRAIGHT UP SHIT!!!!!!! THAT IS ONE TALENTED SISTA. LOVED HER IN THE MOVIE. HER SINGING, ACTING, EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT.

EDDIE IS THE SHIT TOO. HE GOT SOME STIFF COMPETITION IN THAT SUPPORTING ACTOR FIELD THO.

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE. I CAN’T IMAGINE SAYING A NEGATIVE THING WHEN SO MANY TALENTED BLACK PEOPLE ARE GETTING THEIR SHINE ON.

  57. Anonymous

    @ 29—– i feel u! great analogy!

  58. I WOULDNT COMPLAIN ABOUT JENN BEIN IN THE SUPPORTING ACTRESS CATAGORY. THAT GIVES HER A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING. HELEN MIRREN IS A LOCK FOR BEST ACTRESS FOR THE GLOBES AND THE OSCARS. JENNIFER STANDS A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING AGAINST THE NOMINEES FOR SUPPORTING ACTRESS.

  59. justme

HAPPY B-DAY #49.I UPSET B/C THE WIRE DIDN’T GET A NOMINEES[NOT FAIR],HOW COME BEY SISTER DIDN’T GET A NOD SHE WAS GREAT IN BRING IT ON 2.
