It certainly is a breakthrough for our girl. While announcing the nominations for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards today, Mary was shocked to find out she was in the lead:
R&B vocalist Mary J. Blige led all nominees with eight nominations. Among her nods: record and song of the year (“Be Without You”) and R&B album (“The Breakthrough”).
“That’s a beautiful thing, that I’m still going,” Blige, 35, told The Associated Press. ” ‘The Breakthrough’ is about triumph, about not being a victim, but being a victor. It’s about loving yourself.”
Mary has been receiving nothing but love from the industry lately, I’m happy for her and her continuing success.

# 10 Kelis deserves to win for best contemporary rnb album, or at least she derserved the nomination. Her album was actually extremely good and she actually does have vocal talent even though she does not display it with songs like “BOSSY”.
i’m glad “kelis was here” was nominated, that was a good album but people never gave it a chance because of bossy.

Zudoir, your on point with that one. I’m happy for mary but she’s not and was never a great vocalist. She seldom gives good performances and they are rather boring. Her vocals are always off-key and she never hits any real high notes, for some reason people equate Mary’s shouting and yodeling with singing, however people still love her so……..I just wish people would not give girls like amerie, rhianna and ciara a hard time about their vocals when Mary sounds horrid 90% of the time and she still recieves critical acclaim……I’m still happy she got the 8 grammy nods though, everyone needs to get some kind of credit.
