Although Edward Zwick may be reeling from sour grapes from the poor debut of Blood Diamonds this past weekend, it is a shame that a Jew had to school a black man (Russell Simmons) about the painful history behind the diamond trade in South Africa and abroad. The DeBeers company supplies the diamonds for Simmons Jewelry and have approached him to be a spokesman. Although I already knew about the shady dealings of the DeBeers company, I did not know Simmons Jewelry was affiliated with it. I am so glad I did not waste my time attending a Hip-Hop Summit.
