Sometime during the summer, I posted up some tracks from a young man by the name of Drake. If you don’t remember him from then, his face may be familiar to you from the hit show Degrassi (he plays Jimmy). Either way, Drake’s a man of many talents, already proving himself in the acting world, and now as a lyricist, including collaborations with The Clipse, Lupe Fiasco and many other industry heavy weights. Drake is back with a new single with Trey Songz (which he recently recorded here in Atlanta) and an album is in the works.

I have his mixtape and that was hot! I support DRAKE’s music and don’t even get me started on my love of DEGRASSI! Honestly, this track is not the best I’ve heard from this cat, but it’s a good look for a single on BET or MTV.
I am only critical because I appreciate his music, but I feel like this theme of addressing his experiences with trife females in his music is going to get old soon. I have high expectations for someone with so much talent.

Ayo, dude is good, I heard some of his stuff, he is a real emcee, but he is not on Lupe’s level, maybe one day cuz he got potential but not yet. He need to stay away from things like this though, or folk gonna throw him into the Bow Wow pile and he won’t get any respect. Track was cool for wat it is. T. Dot nuff respect.
Everyone has to be such a hater. That was a pretty good song. People need to start listening to words and not just beats. His flow was on point. If y’all listened to the words of more songs, you would find that they’re not as great as you think they are. I’ve heard other songs from Drake and he’s pretty tight. PLUS he’s easy on the eyes.
Him and Trey did that! That’s a hot track and Aubrey/Drake/”Jimmy” surprised the hell out of me. He actually has a decent flow. Also, I had no idea he had that much style.
I love him on Degrassi and I can’t wait for his album to drop! And damn he’s cute as hell.

Cosign with #23… Trey made this one, but I really enjoyed “Deceiving” (it’s on his myspace page). It has a nice vibe to it (was that Dwele on vocals???) and the subject matter is on point. Much success to him.

I’m telling my age but I used to watch Degrassi from back in the 80′s when it was Degrassi Jr High lol probably before this dude was even born lol but I’m proud to see that the New Generation is getting lots of love in the States too. I’m too old for the new show now but I’ve caught it a few times and its still a good show w/ good story lines etc….Had no idea ole boy in the wheelchair was this nice as a rapper too. pleasantly surprised! I like this song but for all ya that dont like this one u gotta listen to some of his other stuff. Some of it give off a Jay-z vibe. like how his lyrics and vocals just interwine wit the beat. its hot. I wasnt a big fan of his til I heard “Video Girl” that one I would come pair to some thing of Kanye’s. but if u dont like music thats tellin u a story and tha makes u think. I’m actually interested to hear the rest of his stuff, too. Partly because I like his wordplay. In this era of half illiterate sounding rappers, he’s a breath of fresh air. And partly because I wonder if his cockiness (which sometimes borders on arrogance, imo) is warranted.

I have watched Degreassi B4 and I am really surprised. LOL @ the girl who got no play from “Drake”. This song is hot although he may be a bit old for this sound… its a little Bow Wow-ish. Sounds better than that whiney shit Bow wow and Chris Brown have out now though.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I heard it when he first put it on his myspace a few weeks ago. I’m from the South so the snap beat got me off top but after listening, he is talking about some real stuff. Trey Songz upped the song with his vocals. ITs overall a good song.
