I’m told things soured between the Knowles family and Ms. Hudson because Daddy Knowles tried unsuccessfully to woo the former American Idol contestant as a client to his Houston-based Music World Entertainment management company.
“He tried to sign her halfway through production of Dreamgirls because he wanted to be her manager,” my source says, “but Jennifer turned him down. That’s when things really went south.”
Although Hudson already had management during this time, a source tells me Matthew has recently told some people he’s actually been managing her “for a while now.”
“He walks around saying he’s her manager, and everyone is like, ‘No, you’re not,’ ” a source says.
I’m told that Daddy was so insulted by her refusal to sign with him that he demanded the movie be re-edited to lessen Hudson’s screen time and boost Beyoncé’s. He argued that his daughter was being shortchanged but was rebuffed by the studio and the filmmakers. In one meeting with director Bill Condon, I’m told, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina, went into a “tirade” about how he ruined the movie for her daughter. “It was supposed to be her Oscar role,” Tina hissed, according to a source.
So I guess Beyonce and Jennifer were cool, but of course Bee’s crazy parents wanted to start something up. This goes to show you that the parents are to blame for the way some of these stars act. Don’t know if this one is true, but I wouldn’t put it past the Knowles fam.

I actually read this on SEVERAL sites a few days back. For some reason, I can believe this. There are 100′s of people on a movie set, and you can believe they are going to talk about what they see with the stars.
We all know Matthew is aggressive about getting his way (look how he has handled Destiny’s Child and Bey’s career). We also know that if you cross him (or if he PERCEIVES that you’ve crossed him), he is the kind of guy who will seek revenge (think Letoya and Latavia and Farah).
I’m glad JHud stood up and didn’t sign because Bey will ALWAYS be his #1 concern, and he could not effectively represent two R&B singers because he will always give the best opportunities to his daughter. That’s just life.

True or not anybody that manages their own child…whether it be Raven’s dad, Usher’s mama, Ashanti’s mama, Brandy’s mama or the Knowles’ gets a bad reputation. It’s hard to have appropriate boundaries when the individual is both your meal ticket AND your child. At least in both the Knowles’ case and in Brandy’s case, their parents were supporting the child’s dream, they already had their own careers.
But better your parents holding you down than the shady manager you’re fucking…..or married to. Some folks have done very well with that, MJB would be a prime example. But I always think those relationships are headed for a fall…and music history bears me out.
