We all know Matthew is aggressive about getting his way (look how he has handled Destiny’s Child and Bey’s career). We also know that if you cross him (or if he PERCEIVES that you’ve crossed him), he is the kind of guy who will seek revenge (think Letoya and Latavia and Farah).

I’m glad JHud stood up and didn’t sign because Bey will ALWAYS be his #1 concern, and he could not effectively represent two R&B singers because he will always give the best opportunities to his daughter. That’s just life.

The supposed rift between Beyoncé Knowles and her Dreamgirls costar, Jennifer Hudson, may have been greatly exaggerated.

Rumors have been swirling that Beyoncé is miffed because Hudson is the movie’s obvious breakout star for her role as powerhouse vocalist Effie White. But sources told me today that Beyoncé has always known Effie was a showier role than Beyoncé’s own soft-spoken Deena Jones. “Beyoncé is a confident girl,” a pal tells me. “She doesn’t get jealous of people.”

So, where did these rumors get started? It sounds like Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, may be to blame.

I’m told things soured between the Knowles family and Ms. Hudson because Daddy Knowles tried unsuccessfully to woo the former American Idol contestant as a client to his Houston-based Music World Entertainment management company.

“He tried to sign her halfway through production of Dreamgirls because he wanted to be her manager,” my source says, “but Jennifer turned him down. That’s when things really went south.”

Although Hudson already had management during this time, a source tells me Matthew has recently told some people he’s actually been managing her “for a while now.”

“He walks around saying he’s her manager, and everyone is like, ‘No, you’re not,’ ” a source says.

In other words, it doesn’t look like Beyoncé has a problem with Hudson getting so much of the Dreamgirls attention. It looks like it’s Daddy’s bruised ego that’s causing the ruckus.

I’m told that Daddy was so insulted by her refusal to sign with him that he demanded the movie be re-edited to lessen Hudson’s screen time and boost Beyoncé’s. He argued that his daughter was being shortchanged but was rebuffed by the studio and the filmmakers. In one meeting with director Bill Condon, I’m told, Beyoncé’s mom, Tina, went into a “tirade” about how he ruined the movie for her daughter. “It was supposed to be her Oscar role,” Tina hissed, according to a source.

Matthew and Tina Knowles did not return calls by deadline.

As for Beyoncé and Hudson, a source close to Dreamgirls says they get along just fine. “It’s the dad,” the source said. “He’s just like Curtis, Jamie Foxx’s character in Dreamgirls.”

All the drama aside, today was a good day to be a Dreamgirl. The movie nabbed five Golden Globes nominations. Two for Beyoncé, one apiece for Hudson and Eddie Murphy and another for Best Picture in the musical or comedy category.

A source very close to the Knowles camp says that Beyonce’s overbearing manager/father let go of his puppet strings only long enough to try and take another shot at Jennifer Hudson’s career.

My source tells me, “Beyonce’s father was fuming over the critic reviews and standing ovations that Jennifer Hudson was receiving opposed to the mediocre treatment his daughter was receiving for her part in the movie Dreamgirls.

So what did he do? My source says, “A computer hacker, hacked into his computer and found out that he purchased multiple tickets at theatres all around the world. But get this, the tickets purchased were for The Good Shephard. That’s right he was so obsessed with his daughter not being the star of “Dreamgirls” that he is desperately trying to make sure it doesn’t become number one at the box office.”

The source further goes on to say, Matthew was overheard saying “If Jennifer Hudson didn’t want to sign with me, I’ll make sure she will never get another role in Hollywood.”

Actaully, it’s posible that those who are lined up to see the movie will be there to see eddie or jamie or danny or jennifer. She might have been the initial reason some were interested [which would explain her being promoted as the main character] but most of the people I know couldn’t care less that Beyonce is in it, particularly since Jen and Eddie are being hailed for their performances.

After seeing some scenes, I will be one of those lined up to see Eddie [for those of you that have seen some of his scenes, doesn't he remind you of his James Brown "I wanna get in teh hot tub" skits from snl?] and of course Jen.

I think the movie is sure to be a GREAT FILM, however I dont think it’s worth $25 dollars and “special seating”. I think that was a bit over done on their parts. I saw on TV the other day 2 MOVIE critics talking about the movie DREAM GIRLS, & the woman critic stated that she feels the movie could have done WITH OUT all of the photo shoot scenes, video shoot scenes of BEYONCE’s character. She said since the original character’s vocal range was not in the original play, they added Beyonces “LISTEN”-to display her vocal range.

The lady critic felt that the movie could have done without that as well as all the other extra “BEYONCE” scenes- especially since the movie was EXTRA LONG in itself (both critics agreed that the movie was extremely long). I fell out laughing. (& that woman was a white chick too. So it wasn’t like a “sistah” was hating on BEYONCE). I agree—Who would want to sit their watching all those scenes of BEYONCE’s character, doing fashion and photo shoots?

We see enough of that with TYPICAL “BEYONCE”.
