But for Black celebrities, this is I know to be true: If they came out and put their hand on a stack of Bibles and swore that they were heterosexual, a lot of you guys wouldn’t believe it anyway. I have a lot of strong women of color who helped to raise me who just didn’t preoccupy themselves with trying to “get a man”. It’s unfortunate because they have a lot to offer, but with the way that things are today and sometimes due to the way that people were raised, women just have a hard time trusting men or at least pairing themselves with a man who they feel bonded with. I was on the damn chat channel last night and saw a lot of avatars of fine ass women and all I heard was, “the men are fine in Florida” or “I like the men here”. None of em seemed to have men of their own. Are they gay?

I’m not saying what her lifestyle is one way or the other. But without being crude, I agree with the sentiment that some folks are way too preoccupied with her sexuality. Mostly those who want her to just “admit that she’s gay”. If only we put this much effort into things like education and career goals.

I would dare say (I don’t have stats, this just my own personal opinion) that It appears that Gay couples are adopting more than straight couples (at least here in New Jersey, where Gay’s run entire City’s like Plainfield & Woodbridge).

And Let’s say a woman had children, and then she decided to move in and have a relationship with another woman…Those children are not being reared by a same sex couple……

I just have strong feelings about kids and kids who are adopted already have an added issue.
I have seen many gay couples adopt kids and on top of that kids from different ethnic backgrounds.

Now I firmly believe that love is love but in the real world, sexual identity, racial identity, social identity comes into play.

To be gay is something that I cannot get down with because I was not raised around it but I do respect those that are. Adopting children is a whole other issue.

I just feel sorry for the kids because they did not ask to have a mommy/mommy or a daddy/daddy. Nor did they ask to be put up for adoption.

Arguing Against Homosexuality

Question:

An unsaved friend asked me for referrences in the Bible apart from Genesis where it states that homosexuality/lesbianism is wrong. I have some but I need some more. Also, how can I demonstrate that homosexuality is morally wrong apart from the Scripture seeing that most unbelievers these days do not believe in the authority of the Bible?

Answer:

The Biblical witness is clearly against the practice of homosexuality. God did not intend for male and male, or female and female to have sexual relations. As the popular saying goes, “God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!” The OT clearly condemns homosexuality. The Law of Moses said, “You shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22; c.f 20:13).

The OT also condemns “sodomites,” which were male temple prostitutes (I Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; II Kings 23:7). Some would argue that these male prostitutes were for the female worshippers, but it was primarily the males who involved themselves in the cultic worship of the pagan temples. The male prostitutes were for the purpose of homosexual acts with other men.

The NT is just as clear on this issue as is the OT. In Romans 1 Paul was demonstrating how the Gentiles have failed to live up to the revelation of God given them. He wrote of the many evils they did while suppressing the knowledge of God revealed to them (Romans 1:18-21). Such evils included idolatry, fornication, maliciousness, disobedience to parents, hate for God, inventions of evil things, and homosexuality.. Paul plainly declared, “Because of this [the suppression of truth resulting in idolatry], God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” (Romans 1:26-27, NIV). Although homosexuality is not named as such here, the act of homosexuality is clearly described. It was in judgment that God allowed men and women to have sexual relations with the same sex, but they did receive in themselves their due punishment for such indecent acts.

While listing those who would not inherit the kingdom of God, Paul noted that homosexuals will not be saved: “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9-10, NIV). To further demonstrate that these things are not to be named among Christians Paul continued to say, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (v. 11).

The Biblical evidence is conclusive that homosexual relations are ungodly, but the case against homosexuality is not limited to the Biblical witness. There is also sound reasons to object homosexuality as an acceptable behavior. Homosexuality is unnatural. Speaking as plainly as I can, all people have “in holes” and “out holes” in their body. Some holes are designed to take things into them, and some holes are designed to rid things from the body. We should not confuse the obvious purpose of these holes. Nature argues against homosexuality as an “alternative” lifestyle.

Most people who argue for homosexuality will tend to believe in evolution also. You could point out to these individuals that even evolution argues against their practices. Evolution teaches the survival of the fittest. Since homosexuals cannot reproduce offspring, they cannot continue in the fight for survival, and thus are an inferior “species.” I’m sure that no homosexual would like to think of himself/herself in this manner, but their own philosophies would lead them to that conclusion. There is no denying it that their lifestyle contradicts the natural order of things.

In conclusion, the sin of homosexuality is debase, but homosexuals are in need of salvation as are all other sinners. We are to love the sinner, but hate his/her sin. All people are valuable and should be loved simply because they are created in God’s image, and had their sins paid for by Jesus Christ at Calvary. We must respect homosexuals as human beings, but never condone or accept their ungodly behavior. There is a difference between our position as to the moral nature of homosexuality, and our personal feelings towards homosexuals. Some Christians have confused these two issues, allowing their position to influence their feelings toward the homosexual person in a negative, hateful manner. Such an attitude is unchristian. Let us make it clear to our world that we love all people because they are created in God’s image, but must stand in opposition to their sin against our loving Savior.

I cannot believe you are using your extremely small sample of examples to judge an entire orientation. The American Pediatric Association (as well as other organizations) have PROVEN that children raised by same-sex couple are just as healthy and secure as those raised by heterosexual couples. Moreover, ANY child who is adopted by a caring, loving adult, whether they be in a couple or raising them by themselves is MUCH better off than being the foster care system. I think it is a shame that grown folk are continuing to spread this misinformation as gospel, and then fall back on the tired line: “I am not judging anybody, but…” I would never use my personal experiences as an indictment on the whole world. That is childish behavior.

i am lesbian, and i feel DO NOT feel shameful in any capacity. as for queen latifah, if she is gay, i doubt she has negative feelings about her sexual orientation. the reason many celebrities don’t come out is because of the stigma placed upon them by society (homophobia). think about it, if you’re a black celebrity in hollywood, you already have less opportunity and press in the mainstream circles.these celebrities really have to rely upon black media and black hollywood circles for support. the church has had such a strong influence on the black community, that i think many of these celebrities feel their base will evaporate and their coverage in the black press will disappear or have a negative slant. i mean look at meshell ndegeocello. i felt that the black media dropped the ball as far as she was concerned because she was bi and not the most feminine woman.

i think if there were more gay black celebrities out, it would help with the disconnect that is happening between the two words black and homosexual. i mean jesse jackson made a statement about not comparing civil rights with gay rights, but that seems to be because the only face of homosexuality is white. i would personally love for queen latifah (and other black celebrities) to come out because it would help with the visibility of gay black people, but as long as there are self-righteous people like BILL out there it will be a long time coming.

i feel like the dl phenomenon has to do with two things 1. homophobia and bible thumping in the black community. 2.a general disrespect for black women. i don’t care if you are gay or straight, there is no excuse for consistently being deceitful to your partner. i think the only way the black community can combat this is for parents to accept their children when they come out, and for the black community to make it COMPLETELY unacceptable to gay bash, to refer to being gay as a sin, and to say hateful remarks about being gay. a good example of intolerance is the way ving rhames was reported as “being a normal black man” because he couldn’t bring himself to kiss another man. (as though it is abnormal for two men to kiss or do more…rolling my eyes) but i guess those changes will be a long time coming too. whatever, thats just my take on the situation.

The difference is when you gays are asking for acceptance and you continue to live in that sin! Yes, the fornicator and adulter are sinners too, but what victory do you claim by association with that group? hehe! It is undeniable what the Bible says about homosexuality, and I believe in the Bible. But I also understand commandments and laws that apply to *ME* that I have broken, so I tend to worry about my own weaknesses, and my own relationship with God. I have repented of many things, but I am still human and will never be perfect; therefore, I try to focus on my OWN flaws.

I said it earlier and I will say it again, as a lowly man (as in humankind), I cannot say which sins God considers greater or lessor. You’d have to be living under a rock to not know that the Bible considers homosexuality a sin.

But the Bible also says that we shouldn’t look on people who aren’t OUR spouse with lust (Denzel? Halle Berry? MizzLizz and Mika? Anyone? LOL–I just threw those CL’s in because the boys love them here…LOL).

The Bible says that we should not eat pork, and black folks LOVE us some pork.

The Bible says that we should not gossip (we ALL doomed on that one)! LOL

My point is, we can point fingers until we are BLUE IN THE FACE, but judge not lest ye be judged. I have to believe that God will be a fair judge to ALL of us in the context of our lives when we have to account for our sins, and I believe that his judgement will be as fair to homosexuals, as it will be to fornicators or thieves or gossips or …you get my point.
