SOUTHERN HUMMINGBIRD COME BACK?

tweet.jpg

Tweet has been one of my favorite artists vocally and lyrically since her debut album, “Southern Hummingbird.” I absolutely fell in love with the album in 2002, it’s one that I have a lot of memories attached to it. So, of course, I was excited when her sophomore album, “It’s Me Again” dropped. Although the material was different and the album didn’t do so well on the charts, I still love Tweet as an artist. So this makes me even more excited to hear new material from her. Hopefully, this means there is an album in the works. I’ve heard rumors that Tweet is no longer working with Missy. We’ll see.

Shout outs to Wayne McDonald for sending these tracks my way! I greatly appreciate it!

Loves It!! Thanks Brian. I’m a big Tweet fan and am glad to hear some new material from her. I love the songs. They’re mellow and I love the guitar. That and her harmonies make it feel like real music instead of the overproduced, singing over a track type stuff we’re so accustomed to. Good stuff!

  2. hdizzle

I don’t see how she can come back with these two songs but I’m glad she is back.

  3. I met Tweet in NY after a concert she performed.. first I didn’t know what to expect but homegirl rocked the hell out of the place! Secondly.. she was very gracious to me after the concert and signed some stuff even tho her manager was trying to stop her.. I will always be a fan and I highly urge everyone to check her out if she tours again!

  4. There’s something very comforting about Tweet’s music. She’s a superb writer and her best tracks didn’t involve Missy at all. I can listen to both of her albums straight through.

  5. MrLightEyez

Dont really like these songs. Loved the first album and the 1st single off the second album. Not sure why she would leave Missy and Timb, but I guess she has to do whats good for her career.

With that said, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MS.JADE???…her first album had crazy production from Timb, Missy and Pharrell and was really Good!

  6. Ryan

These are good tracks. They’re not new though. They’re leftovers from “It’s Me Again”.

  7. BEYONCEREADS

    @#4……hello gorgeous!!

Anyway, She looks nice in the picture, thats it!1

  8. Everybodies SPECIALLL!

That whisper song is stompin on cassie’s lame attempt at soft vocals! THATS HOW U DO IT!

  9. joanne

these tracks are really nice. i have both her albums. it’s a shame her sophmore didn’t do well. and i agree with poster #8 on the soft vocal tip; it’s an art and not everyone can do it right. aaliyah and tweet mastered it to a T.

  10. BJ

Yea, these were suppose to be on her sophomore album, It’s Me Again. She told me that she is in a better recording situation. She’s been recording in L.A. Hopefully she will release something late next year.

  11. MsFAMUtheNmba1HBCU

Can’t wait for the album to drop these tracks r hott!

  12. Tracey

I hope this is for a new cd, Tweet has been my girl since DAY 1, I jam to both cd’s, praying for a new CD! Her voice and writing skills are amazing!

  13. LaDae

Please go sit down somewhere ,Lesbians played out. It’s Ciara time now. Go back to your coffee shop trying to pick up big booty women. You is mad played out. Missy don’t even want her no more

  14. joanne

#13, please go somewhere with that trash talk. while tweet is making real, grown folks music ciara is making that watered down pop & b. she’s corny, just like her music.

  15. I’m loving these tracks. Just pure and utter beauty. I can listen to Tweet anyday and enjoy her music.

@ #2 You are right, her harmonies are infectious. I love that about her music.

I loved the jam she did with Bilal on Southern Hummingbird. And I loved Cab Ride and that song she did with a guy called Rell on It’s Me Again. I have no doubt her album will be great, whenever it is comes out.

  16. pete

she needs to get back now

  17. See Ya is pure beauty!!! Whisper is nice too whether they are new or previously recorded they are hot. I have been a Tweet fan since “Take Away” and still goin.

  18. HOLLIEWOOD

I Like Tweet a lot! I met her a few times and shes so gracious and friendly – I’ll support!

  19. 4tweetnmissy

    has Missy moved onto Ciara?!
i hope not.. i like Tweet n her as a duo
i look forward to her new music though..
    always will

  20. Nikki

Whisper sounded dry as hell to me. See Ya is a nice track. I like that one.

  21. Mama

Thanks for the tracks. I love Tweet. Hope she drops soon.

  22. ms.rocque

tweet is very underated. her voice is amazing. i guess since she isn’t 18 and half naked nobody will notce. i, on yhe other hand, can’t wait for the new disc to drop.

  23. dee

Tired of the overlaying vocals. All of material sounds the same

  24. M. DOT

New tracks are hot. I still am a big fan of her first album. Hopefully the next one will be just as good. Peace.

  25. Compton_Chick23

I love me some REAL R&B! None of this trash Pop/R&B Cassie and Rihanna have dumped on us!

  26. GreenlightGreg

Tweet is amazing and I wish her the best!

  27. My two favorites by her are Call Me & Take Away. She has a beautiful voice.

  28. melisus

I hope this album does as good as her first.Tweet is a good singer just underrated.I am glad she not working with that bulldagger Missy.

  29. le.coccobeans

Tweet…Please Hurry with the new cd… R&B is dead please bring some life back to it.

  30. R&B Fan 4 Life

That’a that late night radio stuff right there. I am no fan of Tweet’s, but she was on point. Makes you wanna cuddle up with the one you love and never let go.

  31. Martinique_fr

I’m a HUGE fan of Tweet … can’t wait for her comeback … Best of Luck to her!

  32. tjack25

    Save Our Black Music campaign….2007

    Let’s go get em Tweet!

  33. @22
I agree I also felt like Tweet was underrated! I’m glad she’s back.

  34. Asentha

I’ve always like Tweet. I think she has a very soulful voice, and she is very underrated. However, I’m not feeling these songs AT ALL!! I liked “Oops, Oh My” and “Call Me” soooo much better. Good luck to her though. I hope she comes back strong!

  35. pinklibradiva

Nice pic.. Tweet can sing but her album won’t sell. Sorry

  36. hood_shit

Why did those songs sound the EXACT same? The problem with Tweet is that her voice is one of the most unique in the industry (i love it) but her songwriting is garbage and the production is always sappy… Bitch, pick it up!

  37. R&B Fan 4 Life

2007 is giong to be the comeback year of R&B music. Brandy, Ciara, Usher, and some new raw soulful talent will bring back the 90s R&B swagger. 2006 was a dissapoint for this genre.

  38. nibblet

I love Tweet! Southern Hummingbird is one of my top albums ever. I think she can do without Missy honestly…

  39. Tweet is one of my top five favorite contemporary singers (along with Coko, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Brandy).

    She is SO underrated.

  40. PO BOI

*runs around office and does triple toe with back round off*

YIPEEEE! My girl is B A C K! One of the most underrated artist alive.

TRUE TALENT, TRUE TALENT, TRUE TALENT!!

  41. Natural Mystic

@ #14 Joanne: I agree 100% with you– whatever happened to real music? I’m so sick of the pop tart, bubble gum madness. I’ve totally stopped listening to the radio and have gone to exploring underground music b/c of this. Tweet is a refreshing artist to listen to… and it’s great she’s not just another black girl dressed in white girl drag (blond hair, blue contacts, etc)

  42. pray

Those two songs are the kind you light the candles and sit a relax. Tweet always had a pretty voice she really can SING without trying hard and screaming

  43. I’m so glad that she is blessing us once again. I didn’t think she would make it after her last album flop. If Tweet & Missy have parted ways it is for the best. Missy I think is what fucked up Tweet’s last album. That & with a lack of promotion did her in. The girl has a beautiful voice & with the right songs she can be hot. Missy pissed me off all over the beginning of “Turn The Lights Off”. That song was meant to be grown & sexy, but you get turned off of it when you have her saying stupid shit @ the beginning rewinding it & shit. That pissed me off. I love Missy, but that was a mess. You don’t have to be all over tracks just cause’ you discovered the artist & produced the damn song. Let them shine on their own. Alot of producers just gotta be vocal. Shut the hell up sometime!

  44. MissChoklate2006

Tweet has one of those soothing soft beautiful voices that makes any song sound good. I have supported her and I wish her second album was good as her first but I love that song Iceberg from her second album. I like these tracks thay are very pretty.

  45. Miss Chi Chi

Tweet is all about her daugther. She’s real nice in person. I glad I met her and I told how much I love her music. Glad she’s making a comeback! “Best Friend” is my favorite Tweet song.

  46. yomomma

Lol…I do agree wit you dangerously perri that shit waz pissing me off too…all that rewinding flipping and reversing..

  47. Compton_Chick23

    @R&B Fan 4 Life

No Ciara is not bringing anything to the R&B plate but bad music with absolutely no soul

  48. POBOI

    LOL@YOMAMMA! LOL!!!

Don’t forget “New Shi*t” “HOLLA” sounding like a monster. She needs to find a more suble way to ‘mark’ a Missy Elliot track. Geez!

  49. I LIKE TWEET I HOPE SHE COMES BACK STRONG IM TIRED OF THE SAME OLD SAME OLD…

  50. Love Tweet!! “Taxi Cab” is my joint on “It’s Me Again”. I can’t wait for her new album.

  51. IslandGirl-Bri

I’ve always liked Tweet, i hope she comes back strong!

  52. I love me some tweet god knows I do. Taxi is one of my favorite songs ever. I was so dissapointed when she released her sophomore CD. But she still has a chance to redeem herself. Her and Missy do great things together, but she need to put missy in moderation. No more “We sick for doing this again” blah blah.

    GO TWEET GO!

  53. Qtpie1978

Yeah, Tweets music is for the Grown & Sexy..–haha

  54. Love Tweet. her vocal harmonizing is infectious and soothing. I will be checking for the next LP.

  55. albert padilla

hey i love it man like od

  56. hautia

“Always Will” and “Hotel” were classics on SH. I rooting for her. I appreciate talent to the fullest.

  57. THats funny I was just thinking about tweet the other day…wondering if she was gonna commit suicide because her career is off the radar…

I remember when Her and Ashanti dropped records the same week back in 2002 and I hated Ashanti…Ive never liked her from day one really….she just irks me….But her album sold 502,000 copies and Tweets sold like 135,000…..I was pissed

  58. I LOVE BOTH SONG I’M SURE THIS ALBUM WILL BE AS HOT AS HER FIRST ONE

  59. Tweet is a breath of fresh air from that over-produced, corporate-pushed, cookie-cutter music that seems to be dominating the radio and the music charts these days. You know how long it’s been since I’ve listened to broadcast radio? Since like 2002. I prefer listening to Music Choice radio/tv–channel 800+ on my cable provider. At least they have a diverse variety of music.
