TAYE DIGGS: “YOU CAN’T MAKE EVERYBODY HAPPY..”

Monday, December 18, 2006

tayed.jpg
Taye Diggs and wife Idina Menzel back in April

Last week, Taye Diggs’ TV series “Daybreak,” was cancelled due to low ratings. Rumor has it that African-American women refused to support the series because Diggs’ love interest wasn’t black. Their lack of support was instrumental in the numbers being down and the show getting the boot.

Well I actually watched “Day Break” and it wasn’t all that to tell you the truth. Just like one of the people said in the interview, Taye Diggs is corny as hell and I could care less who he is married to. Maybe the show sucked, and deserved to be cancelled. I’ve seen better shows get the boot.

Anyway….

Last month he sat down with Rolling Out magazine to talk about why black woman are more accepting of the “Will Smith” & “Denzel” types:

“What [black women] were happy about was that [Mendes’ character in Hitch] wasn’t white; she was Latina,” Diggs explains when asked why Will Smith’s role in the film didn’t draw as much cultural ire as some of the choices he’s made on- and off-screen. “That’s what they were happy about, if we’re gonna be real. That’s how the scale goes. First off, if it’s a dark brother and the dark brother isn’t with a dark sister that causes issues. … After that, if you’re going to date outside the race, then they go down the list of how poorly other minorities have been treated after blacks. [So] after that, you have Latino. … Like, I’ve had people say that about my wife: ‘At least she looks Spanish.’ Like that makes it a little bit better. So that’s why people accepted it. If Will Smith had been with a lily-white woman, it would’ve been a completely different situation in the black community as far as females are concerned. I guarantee you that.” [SOURCE]

Here is when he got a little attitude when the interviewer asked him about his white wife:

“I’m too far along in my life and in my career to really give a question like that any type of dignified answer,” says Diggs, who was raised in black, middle-class Rochester, N.Y., intones. “When I was in high school, maybe. College, maybe. But I’m a grown-ass man and if people have a difficult time dealing with that, then I welcome them to see a movie with Omar Epps or Denzel Washington or some of those other brothers that have chosen to spend the rest of their lives with sisters, as you say. I just don’t have time for it. You can’t make everybody happy. And for the fans that are out there that are into me; they don’t really give a f— what’s going on with my personal life.” [SOURCE]

I’m sure this will spark debate, but yall better settle down with this one.

@ 1. Yeah a lot of people said that. But I just watched it to see if it was good and it wasn’t. I mean I could understand if it was a good show, than maybe this would be a discussion.

Sorry Taye you’re corny to me and the rest of America too. I mean isn’t that cancellation number two?

hahhaha, Listen to taye diggs and white lovin self.

Actually I never saw the show, I just think his acting isnt all that good anyway, I dont care who he is married too. That really isnt true because look at cuba gooding jr, he is married to a white lady and people still go see his movies all the time. Then again, he ususally has black love interest in his movies.

Taye Diggs WAS an okay actor it is his arrogance that turns me off, also he made his career playing the love interest in many beloved black films and who cares if his wife is white he is the asshole one thing I want the “so-called” BMDWW (black men dating white women) is would the heifer want your kuntry asses if you didn’t have money, they all cry about sisters and our attitudes and blah, blah, (wesley snipes, dennis rodman, cuba gooding etc. but that is just an excuse all give me a REAL brother such Denzel, Will, Isiah, etc let the white women have those weak-ass punks!!

Trust me, there isn’t a black woman I know thats loosing sleep behind who taye diggs is dating… he needs to worry about getting his wife’s eyes fixed instead of worrying about who apporves of his relationship. Prime damn example of FULL OF SHIT

What do Omar, Will Smith, & Denzel all have in common? They all look good, eye candy. Taye Diggs is corny as hell and not that attractive. I don’t think it has much to do with his wife race. From what he is asying, it seems like he has a problem with black women.

And how many Black males supported Sanaa’s movie Something New?

Black men are just as hooked up on color as Black women are.

I think more Black people would support interracial roles if there was an equal representation of Black on Black love.

I don’t care who he’s married to. I don’t support him because I personally think Taye Diggs sucks as an actor. Cuba too. He’s the absolute worst!! Always crying and sh!t.

I could care less if he was with a white purple or black chick. The previews for the show just looked corny.

And I admit, at times when I’ve found out thst my fave male celebs are in a relationship…I do find myself saying “Shit, at least she’s black.” Am I wrong for that comment? Maybe. But blah, at the end of the day I really don’t care, because I know I’d date a white man if he treated me well.

Never watched it–but then again I never watch Lost or the other “suspend reality weird sh@t is going on” type shows.

But I think Taye had a right to get pissed at being questioned about his wife. No matter what color–you do not question a man’s choice of wife. That will get you jaw-jacked in certain circles.

18.

sum1nespecial

Monday, December 18, 2006 /

I watched the show, it was alright it started to make no sense and that’s probably why it got cancelled. I really don’t feel any kinda of way about black dudes dating outside of their race. Its when the say the reason why they date outside the race because of black women having attitude problems and other BS. He can love who he wants anybody can just don’t down a group of people in order to justify what you’re doing, because if you have to justify you can’t possible think what your doing is right in the first place. He is corney though LOL

Day break was one of my favourite new shows this year, I’m bummed that it got cancelled but I’m having a hard time believing that black women are responsible for it cancellation.

Personally I don’t care about the race of people’s partners unless I’m hear some self-hating nonsense

20.

Robinsharee

Monday, December 18, 2006 /

It seems as if we are moving backwards when it comes to racism. We are suppose to be more accepting of different races. It seems that we as blacks are shutting out anyone that’s not black. And people are seeming to be more outward and bold in putting us down and degrading us. I don’t know where this era will take us but I’m scared…..

21.

she-ra

Monday, December 18, 2006 /

Personally I don’t give a damn who he’s married to or the color of his love interest on the show. I just didn’t wanna see a ‘Groundhog Day’ type show every single week.

Don’t be blaming black women for your show getting canceled. If it sucked, it sucked. Better luck next time…

22.

LovelyMonAmi

Monday, December 18, 2006 /

He is married to a white woman, so fucking what. he rejected black women to marry a white one. I’m over that, but his now blaming black women for not supporting him? What the hell, now WE are responsible for his career! Is this fool serious! He rejected US, now we are supposed to support him, give me a friggin’ break!

Marrying a white woman isn’t giving him the career boost that he had hoped, oh well, Quincy Jones, Sydney Poitier, Wybnton Marsalles careers did not suffer from marrying white. Maybe it’s just you Taye. You have no talent. Focus on your craft and stop whining and projecting your failure on Black women!

That is so sad. Who cares who he happened to fall in love with? People need to get over it!!
Now I haven’t seen the show, but I’m sure that a small group of people were not the only reason it was cancelled. If it was wack it was wack, that’s a different story. If it were a good show I’m sure it wouldn’t have made a difference.

26.

i think people should stop this racist thing because its getting boring. If I was asked that question, i wouldnt answer like that. Love has nothing to do with race and if I find a chinese guy who i love and who loves me back then I will stick with him. Our happiness counts and people can take sleeping pills if they dont want to see me happy. Goodness, I thought we had stopped all these white black nonsense. I hate this soo much. I dont get why a developed country should have ignorant people. Well I guess the nothing is perfect phrase is really true. Why should his marriage to a whte woman be a determinant to his success? Its funny how many people support angelina and that indecisive man!

Taye Diggs sounds resentful of Black women and thats a damn shame b.cuz his very own mother is a Black woman.

He talking about he has went very far in his career but all of his shows keep getting canceled and on top of that have you seen him on the movie screen lately?

I am offended by this man…talking about people say at least his wife looks Spanish and what he can “guarantee” as far as Black women are concerned.

Its not that he is with a White woman that causes controversy…its his fyckin attitude.
I could give a who-shot john about whatever ethnicity anyone choses to marry.

This was an action show (and not very good if you ask me), and most women don’t watch this stuff, black or white. 24 is popular with males and this type of show seems to be marketed the same way. Just because he takes his shirt off a few times does not make it a female show.

I don’t think the color of his love interest had much to do with it. He could have been married to Whoopie Goldberg on the show and it still would have been cancelled.

I lthink like Cuba Gooding and Wesley SNipes he lost his “GHETTO PASS” when peopl found out they were married to white and asian or whatever Wesley Snipes wife is. The only thing about Cuba is that he had been with her a long time so it’s not like he go famous and then dissed black women. I always thought Wesley was intimidated by black women anyway. It’s like they were fine when they were doing the “black’ movies but after that I lost interest. They didn’t appeal to me any more.

Not one sistah I know is losing sleep over Taye Diggs and him having a white wife. He is arrogant and his shows probably sucked anyway so who in the heck cares. Boo Hoo Hoo now its blame black women for your lack of stats, miss me with that bullcrap.

Also he is not all that. Look at him, he sort of looks weird to me, he has no lips. more like slits, across the bottom of his face and he is short as heck. Who cares and I am sick of all these interracial couples trying to find approval for their relationships, I speak for me and my circle of friends and family (black women) we could care less who your dating and marrying. Only 10% of people date outside their race anyway and statistically speaking most black men prefer to be with black women.

Uh, TAYE, no one gives a flying hoot who u like. The fact of the matter is your shows have been wack. Daybreak was WACK as hell. You are competing with some good shows man like Law & Order, Prison Break, CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, so I am gonna need you to come harder than that. Also, your last show was wack too, Kevin Hill. How about reading a script all the way through before u committ to a WACK ASS SHOW. It has nothing to do about who your love interest is. You can barely act anyways. You were ALRIGHT in Best Men, and Brown Sugar, but don’t get it twisted YOU WEREN’T THE BEST or even close to award winning.

But dont let it be known that Black Women are this, and Black Women are that, then get mad cuz all the sisters change the channel on your wack ass! I actually gave the show a chance and honestly ‘it stunk’ so I stopped watching it. That’s all there is to it.

So Mr. Diggs should dig deeper than where he’s digging to find the reasons for his cancellation.

I’m sure his wife’s friends and family didn’t watch it either. lol

AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN DO NOT EXCLUSIVELY PREFER AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN ANY LONGER…THAT’S NOT SECRET!!!! PART OF THIS HAS TO BE CONTEXTUALIZED IN A MUCH BROADER SOCIO-POLITICAL FRAMEWORK, BUT THE OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IS THE FACT THAT SO MANY AFRICAN AMERICAN HOUSEHOLDS ARE SINGLE-FAMILY. IF WE ALL ACCEPT THAT THIS HAS SOME IMPACT ON THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE CHILD/CHIDREN RAISED IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES THAN WE SHOULD BE WILLING TO LOOK AT THE DEGREE TO WHICH MALE CHILDREN BLAME THEIR AFRICAN AMERICAN MOTHERS FOR THEIR FATHER ABANDONMENT. THIS IS NOT TO EXCLUDE SELF-HATRED THAT IS ALL TOO PREVELANT IN AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES. THE IMAGES ON A DAILY BASIS, WHICH DEPICTS AFRICAN AMERICANS AS CRIMINAL, LAWLESS, AND OVERSEXED MAKES ME SO PROUD THAT I AM NOT BLACK…WHAT FASCINATES ME ABOUT MANY AFRICAN AMERICANS IS THAT SINCE THERE ARE NO BLATANT FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION YOU CONTINUE TO MISS THE MORE SUBTLE WAYS THAT THE VIOLENT AND REPRESSIVE STATE CONTINUES TO CONDITION YOU TO HATE YOURSELVES…DAMN!!!!!!!!!!

I liked Taye Diggs in Brown Sugar and I loved Kevin Hill (I think I was the only one watching). Intellectually, I know that his choice in a spouse or even in roles or co-stars shouldn’t matter.
However, my heart breaks and it’s like a slap in the face to see a black man marry a white woman.
It’s an anomaly to me, even thought I understand that it happens.
What is disturbing about the article is his high-handedness. Not that he should be ashamed but that if he ever opened a history book, he should be at least understanding. However, some Blacks seem to identify more with the white community and I think that he is definitely one.
Finally, I think he should give television a rest. His shows always seem to tank.

Im gonna get some side eyes on this one but I actually like Wayne Brady’s corny ass. I would take him over Taye any day.

N-E-wayz his show did not look interesting to me at all but I watched you know to support my people and I ended up regretting my decision.

The success of his show had nothing to do with black women not watching it had everything to do with it being a bad show. Like one poster said Friends was very succsessful for 10 years w/o us watching it. So Mr. Diggs needs to hop off of his high horse. I don’t give a damn who he married! He just needs to face it that Daybreak did not click with its traget audience at all. His show was just one of many casualties of this year’s programming season.

Who cares if his wife is of another race? Are we so focused on someone’s color that we need to denouce that person. I saw the show, but it got boring. We can’t help who we fall in love with. There is NOTHING in the Bible that says that two races cannot mix. most of my family is mixed. Hell, I am black, white, and Native American. Is that why his show was dropped? No. Yes, he does have an arrogance to him, but who dosen’t? Do we make a big deal out of a color issue due to relationships? Yes. Right now, we should look past color, and look inside a person. God created us in different shades and hues, but He is colorblind, because He loves all of us.

Honestly, I’ve never cared that Taye is married to a white woman. Race never entered the picture as to why I never watched his show, either. It just never looked appealing on the previews.

I actually like Taye as an actor, but he needs to quit whining. Shows get cancelled all the time (white, black, blue, green). Maybe he should blame the writers or the theme or the promotion or the time slot…

Why is it “black women’s” responsibility to carry his show anyway? If it’s our responsibility, then they’d damn well better be writing stories that appeal to our demographic. If they didn’t, then get over it.

All I have to say is n**ga please! The reality is, Taye Diggs is a wack actor, and it has nothing to do with his costars. Don’t tell me he thought that Malibu’s Most Wanted was a quality movie. With it’s coonery and buffonery, that he is so quick to jump and play and embarass black people, but then he wants the legitimate roles and is so quick to change his tune. Sit your ass down, and stop trying to act like you’re some psychoanalyst.

My previous comment was sooooo not serious.

People should not care who he is married to if it is true that he has had some trouble over his choice.

Supposedly he and his wife received death threats after he got married.

I don’t know if the threats came from someone Black but it is sad that it happened at all. He is obviously still very bitter and angry about his experience.

It shoud not matter who he married but his resentment is obviously comming from other problems they have had. Its really too bad he feels the way he does and its too bad that there are people out there that have felt that they had to threaten them because they did not like his choice.

Its too bad his shows have failed too but it happens to so many other actors.

And by the way, since when did Hollywood start considering the feelings of black woman when they make movies or t.v shows Mr. Diggs?

You seriously think they cast Eva Mendez opposite Will so black woman wouldn’t get upset? Please, we’re used to getting the shaft. No - the cast Eva opposite Will so white people would go see the movie. If they cast a black woman they feared it would have turned into a “black movie” and if they cast a white woman they have to deal with the scores of white people who get turned off seeing a “young black buck” romancing one of their own. So please stop pretending black woman are sitting at home complaining about race everyday while the rest of the world has moved on because it is quite the opposite. Movie studios are not interested in making movies that cater to us – we are an after thought at best.

Is it me or did some people miss the majority of posts that black women specifically stated that they didn’t care-a few of you men seem like you want us to care for some reason.

What’s the hostility all about-we really don’t care.

This is not an issue for us, taye diggs wasn’t the last black available man on earth so who cares if he, you, or others choose to date outside of your race. There are plenty and let me say it again Plenty of men, specifically black men who love black wommen.

What black women are tired of is being blamed for everyone elses problems and shortcomings and also being stereotyped as angry and desperate all the time.

Don’t let me get started on how black women and women in general are carrying this society right now-lay off of us we have real issues to deal with rather than whose f_cking who-

Also ratings come from Neilsen, not black women, they survey the entire US and most of the households are NOT BLACK so he can take that argument on somewhere.

this IS funny…these bitter, pathetic, frutrated and angry sisters that cry about taye diggs’ real life wife and his love interest in a television show have NEVER…EVER whispered a PEEP about garbage like ’something new’.

yeah, sanaa (not lathan but the writer of the movie) dogs black men out…IN THE MOVIE…and sisters who talked about the film blithered how ‘great’ the movie was…how ‘realistic’ the movie was.

these same sisters never cried about ’spin city’ where the ONLY black man in the show was gay (and the only gay int the show was black) AND where the only sister was treated like a ho* and had a secret affair with the white mayor. nope…not ONE SISTER had issue with that.

or what about no acting thandie newton…she’s got a white guy in real life, and more often than not either stars opposite white men, or is in marketing (see the cover of ‘crash’) in the arms of a white man.

why do these SAME SISTERS who can’t STAND seeing a black man with a non black women NEVER had anything to say about sisters who, in their real lives and on screen, would rather be with white men?

isn’t it JUST AS BAD?

of course, knuckle headed sisters that sit back and ‘hate’ guys like taye diggs don’t have lives, and don’t have men.

i can tell you this…every sister i know who HAS a man and who’s HAPPY with life doesnt care about who taye diggs is married to…on or off screen.

So, are we focusing on interracial dating or Taye Diggs? To be honest, I think Taye is an exceptional actor, with a knack for choosing poor quality shows. He’d be much better on the silver screen…as far as dating outside the race, anyone who truly hates it, is no better than these radical extremists blowing innocent people up every damn day. Ok, so blacks in general have been getting the short end of the stick in America and abroad. Does that plight obligate us to marry one another? Hell no! I love my black women to death, and really couldn’t see myself marrying anyone who wasnt black. But, I still acknowledge the fact that same race doesn’t always equal compatibility. Ive been in relationships with black women who completely drove me fuckin crazy…Ive dated withe women who were the coolest females Ive ever met. Ive fallen in love with a Puerto Rican..I am currently, and hopefully forever more, in love with an educated BLACK woman…so who cares? The Bible says that a man who finds a wife is shown favor from the Lord. Period. Therefore, in a society where people are getting married for cash,a nd the complete sanctity of marriage has been destroyed, we should applaud any and all persons whose marriage simply stand tests of time.

“if people have a difficult time dealing with that, then I welcome them to see a movie with Omar Epps or Denzel Washington or some of those other brothers that have chosen to spend the rest of their lives with sisters, as you say. I just don’t have time for it. You can’t make everybody happy. And for the fans that are out there that are into me; they don’t really give a f— what’s going on with my personal life.”

HE’S ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

don’t like taye diggs having a white wife…don’t watch his shows, don’t go to his movies.

I have disliked Taye ever since “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” because his acting sucked. It didn’t get any better with the Brothers and so forth. Who cares who he is dating–or married to for that matter! Now, I love Morris Chestnut even though his acting is pretty weak. Morris is just super good looking and seems to have a cool personality. Taye is not cute and appears to be kind of pompous. I think that Taye’s comments are insensitive and shameful. Although I sincerely believe that Taye has some personal issues with color with which he has struggled ever since he was a kid, I believe this outburst is more so attributed to the fact that he had to make up a good excuse as to why his show failed. What a shame…

I don’t know which rock he’s been living under but from what remeber his career has always been where its been because he hasn’t made great movie/ty choices in the past…..you know, sort like Kramer. The only be break I remember him having is in Stella Got Her Grove Back. Its his fault he’s a bad actor, not black women. I’m sick of these so called men blaming black women for all of their problems. Try looking in the mirror and act like a “Real Man” & accept things for what they “really” are. Grow up!

How dare he throw a diss at black women. Honestly, I never had a problem with Taye Diggs being married to someone out of his race.

I DO HAVE A PROBLEM with his arrogant attitude. I didn’t like his response in regards to african american women.

He can kiss my ass. Actors like Will Smith & Denzel Washington would of replied more dignified than that. In fact, the Will Smith movie was successful, because Will is a good actor who is entertaining. Unlike Taye’s corny ass.

Nobody gives a shit about who he dates and furthermore why is it on the African American women to determine the success of the show.

Another black man fallen victim.

I don’t see the big deal about anything Taye said in the interview. It seems to me that a lot of people took his comments out of context.

I clicked on the link and read the interview in its entirety, and it seems to me the the interviewer was the one that chose to make the interview and subsequently the article focus on race.

And let’s keep it real ladies: some of us still get hung up on the actor/athlete/musician/regular brotha who dates (and especially marries) outside of the race. And I have seen comments on message boards like concrete loop and c&d that say things like “at least she looks latina/mixed/exotic/etc” regarding wives/girlfriends/arm candy of black male celebrities.

Furthermore- I think that it was rude and in poor taste for the interviewer to bring up the issue of the race of Taye’s spouse. Who is he and why is it his business? It would be just as bad if someone questioned anyone else’s choice of mate based on career choice, education level, economic level or any other social category.

I think the interviewer was trying to be “provacative” and inflamatory and the number and type of comments on this board prove that it worked.

BTW, I think Taye Diggs is an average actor and the previews for “Day Break” looked stupid. (I did like “Kevin Hill” and was sorry to see it go.)

This label historically belongs to white men. He should (Taye) go take it up with them. He probably doesn’t have the guts so the easiest thing is to blame black women.*shrugs*

The only role I liked Taye Diggs in was that wedding movie — forget the name, LOL. Although people drooled over him in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back,” I never thought he was doing anything special with that fake Jamaican accent.

Other than that, he doesn’t grab me on screen — there’s nothing special about him, and it has nothing to do with who he’s married to. He just doesn’t have the “IT” that Denzel and Will have.

Plus, the concept of Daybreak just turned me off — I’m tired of those kind of shows.

Sorry Taye, but NEXT. And don’t let your bitterness show so easily. A nice “No comment” works wonders.

I was never a big fan of Taye Diggs. Since his fake Jamacian me sick accent in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”, he sucked! I have nothing against actors who chose to marry white women, my problem with Taye is his image and persona was totally built around being a Black “Brad Pitt” hunk of Black film (although he is a midget). He was marketed and typed cast as an actor in several movies involving Black women and romancing. I think his that he is not real with it, like Sydney Pointer, to whom he is most compared to. Sydney always kept his acting roles verstile in main stream white films and also Black films. He did not allow himself to be typed casted and that his why he is still revered by Black and White audiences today, to wear he did not only do Black films and use Black romance movies to begile Black audiences and yes he loved/married white women too, but he also kept it real! Taye does not keep it real! Sorry…but it is the truth!!

I couldn’t agree with you more on that statement. That sh!t eats me up!! All the fake Jamaicans accents try me. And I hate when an actor can’t pull it off. Not to mention: all these dam Jamaicans runnin’ round here and you can’t cast not one of them for a movie set in their own country? Dam Shame. lol

This is not a good look for Taye because he’s BLAMING the wrong people for his show not succeeding. And considering that he should think of himself as an ACTOR as opposed to a BLACK ACTOR, what difference should it make if Black women support him? That’s the dumbest sh!t I’ve heard today. Anyone with sense knows that in his biz you never bank on one type of audience to fuel your career or support you. “Crossover” music anyone? lol. This boy needs to go back to the drawing board on that one.

Taye, please get with the program. You should be madder at White Americans than Black Americans. They’re the ones that Nielsen cares about and caters to. Hasn’t he heard? Nielsen was just trying reignite a campaign to get their rating box in more BLACK homes because of the lack of participation from us! DUH!! Who’s this guys agent? My gosh! Someone needs to fire their arse! lol

As for his private life, it’s his. But why is a reporter not allowed to bring up race in an interview? Of course they did it because it’s controversial. But he also had the option to decline answering it so I have no sympathy for him as far as being “unjustly questioned about his wife’s race.”

Furthermore, if Black people have an issue with seeing him with White women only I can understand why. There needs to be a fair and balanced representation of healthy and happy Black couples on TV and in the movies. Once Cosby went off the air it took many years for us to see that again. Most of the time we only saw Black on Black relationships where the husband was a bufoon (Family Matters) or the leading Black man was a comedian (Martin) or something other than a professional and/or serious (non-comedic) representation of a brother like Cos. That may be why we’re so reluctant to love these images of Black men with Women women.

As for the opposite situation (White men, Black women), most sisters believe they’re running out of options. We hear all this talk about the lack of good brothers to choose from in the dating pool; especially professional Black women. So when they see other women like themselves with White men, it’s an easier pill to swallow. Just my opinion.

Anyway, I could care less about Taye Diggs’ love life. I’m too busy focusing on the fact that I’m not ANTI-Interracial love; I’m just PRO-Black Love!

That is true. The article does not actually state that. It is just a rumor. They have no factual information that African-American women are the cause of his show failing.

And when the writer says he interviewed a hand full of women, thats all it is, a handfull.

I think the show failed because not enough people overall watched it to keep it on the air.

His personal life is really a non-issue but Taye really does seem upset about how things have been going.

Maybe he is really bitter about African American women but he has to get over that and move on and live his life with his wife. He should just stay focussed on his next job and not bring up the issue that his wife is white and some people don’t like it.
We can all see that. Maybe he should just do his job and she does her job and no one will pay attention to his issue.

This is soooooo not important. Non of us know this man so this is just a waiste of time.

What’s up with these fine ass brothas dating these ugly ass white chicks, at least they should be picking those banging ass white chicks you know the typical blue eyes, blond hair, fake boobs like Ice-T’s wife. I saw her person & she’s cuter than she appears on tv & mags. His wife look like she use to be man.

To u already know and phillydon, both of you need to take your rainbow loving asses somewhere else. The majority of women on this post dont give a hot glorified rats azz shit about who TAYE is dating. Both of you and Taye are f*cking ignorant bastards who have the straight mutha cuntin audacity to even sit here and call us bitches and disrespecting us and turns out YOU NEED OUR HELP AND SUPPORT WHEN NOBODY ELSE WONT DO SHIT AND COULD GIVE A FLYING F*CK ABOUT YOUR ASSES. NO WOMAN WILL LOVE HER MAN LIKE A BLACK WOMAN DOES. DO NOT FOOL YOURSELF. WOMEN WHO WILL STRAIGHT UP RIDE AND GO FAR AND BEYOND FOR HER MAN. Talking about our jacked up attitudes, men like you are the reason why a black woman will give you attitude.Smfh.
I love a strong black man, a real man who handles his responsibilities and does what the hell he has to do. Not a bunch of child like, saggy pants wearing, hanging around the corner, always in jail, got 194839023 something kids having fool. Sorry. Just felt like throwing that in.

I dont have a problem with a man defending his wife. He’s supposed to do so. However, him stating that BLACK women didn’t support him because of his love interest, that’s a STRETCH! I haven’t watched anything dude was in since THE BEST MAN! I didn’t see Brown Sugar or anything thereafter. I just don’t like the roles he selects. That show where he was the lawyer with the baby was alright but after the 3rd episode it became WACK! The gay guy carried that show to me. Hell, he needs to wake up and get a freakin REALITY check! Um, hmmm, maybe he can be on a REALITY show. (wit a white woman and black woman!) That might work!

I was gonna leave this one alone…I haven’t been feeling your sweet ass from the get go! And I could never understand why you were chosen for some of the roles you played. You are a closet homosexual that needs to stay the fuck in the closet!! He was so fucking gay in the movie(How Stella got her groove back)! The reason he’s with that white woman is cause she probably thinks he just sweet, but a sista will call his ass out!!! I don’t even know what network the damn show was on,but I’m pretty sure a sista ain’t running it! Go cry to your white woman she understands your fuckin pain!!!!!TAYE-TAYE,I ain’t mad at you cause you choose to be with a white woman do you sweetie!!!!!! And for your comments regarding your fellow actors,I just want to say that as much as I hate the N WORD….YOU ARE A REAL N@#%^&! It’s a shame that when you look in the mirror you don’t like what you see. Oh, and another thing if you weren’t with that white woman you’d surely be with a white man!!!!

I agree with Sum1NeSpecial, I could care less who is dating who, but it’s when people state their reasons that I think we get offended, be male or female. Honestly girls….when we look at videos and a lot of them have spanish or other non-black races in them we get offended, because now-a-days it seems like a lot of men want anything but black, like it’s a celeb “in” thing now. Look at Fab, yeah he’s dominican and black, but ask him who he likes and he names ALL spanish women. Suprisingly Ester Baxter became his girlfriend…(she’s black right yall?)…anyway, when black men say I want a latin woman because they have good hair or a white woman because all mixed kids are cute, or white women don’t have attitudes or whatever else their reasoning is…once we hear one black man say that, it sticks in our head. So the next time we see a black man with someone who is not black, we become biased to it. I honestly overall don’t care, but do tend to stare when I see mixed couples…idk why I just do. I have no problem at all with mixed couples, but once I hear negative comments about black women and why men try other women, it does make me feel some type of way.

@ HDIZZLE…. I had no idea he was married to a white woman before this post. I swear I have not seen anything he has been on since How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I don’t care if he’s with a white woman, if your personality sucks trust me it’s going to show through your work. He sucks and I saw a commercial for the show one time and already knew I wasn’t going to like it. I just love how people blame can’t come to terms with themselves and like to blame others for their failures. Get a dick and grow up Taye…stop whinning and find something else to do. There have been plenty of other actors whose shows have been cancelled. Don’t blame the black women on your failures….white people make up the majority of this country….blame them for not watching your show dumb ass!

i personally dont believe that his show was dropped because of black women boycotting it as much as i could probably presume that “conservative” hollywood didnt like the idea of a black man with a woman.this, to me seems much more logical. The same people that were around in the 30’s and 40’s are unfortunantly still here and controlling some things by way of their offspring. by that i mean the same racist people who spat at the idea of a black man even looking at a their precious white women have planted their ignorant seed into their childrens minds are those are some of the same people running hollywood.

someone may have already had this opinion.

I doubt that black women not watching really hurt him unless ABC used his show to get black viewership. If that was the case I guess they missed his UPN/WB(I can’t tell them appart sorry) show. Before seeing this I didn’t really care. If he wanted to date a blue monster I wouldn’t have cared. His attitude and trying to tell black “what we want” annoys the hell out of me. There’s not even enough black women in the COUNTRY to affect the ratings this much. I can’t believe he would go there. There is just not that much power in that particular demographic to make a difference. And what makes him think he is so important that we were all scheming to boycott his show?! He thinks too much of himself; most people probably never even heard of the show and the rest just DON’T care. Plus, it is my understanding that he is the producer of the show. If you know this is how your audience feels about you and your on-screen love interests, why not do what your peers (who are also married to white women) do? They choose women of color as their leading ladies. Since you know that this is what makes money, then why not do it? Taye Diggs is trying to make a point and he wants everyone else to AMEN whatever he wants to do. You can’t force people to like you or whatever you’re doing. Wit them big ol’ elf ears.

Seems to me Taye Diggs career started playing opposite some BIG name beautiful leading BLACK women. Black women audiences loved his acting and embraced his career choices. Now he’s received a little fame (thanks to BLACK WOMEN) but now feels as though we shouldn’t care if he jumps ship. There’s enough pretending in Hollywood by white people that racism doesn’t still exist let us not pretend in our own community. The reality is there are a lot of great Black women actresses that find it hard or can not get work (except for a Tylor Perry film). They don’t get recognized for their rolls and are often over looked for even the smallest of rolls in films today. I feel as though to a certain degree Taye dose owe a Black Woman actress the leading roll next to him and remember how WE jumped started his career. So he need not think he’s gotten so famous that he don’t need us BLACK WOMEN to carry his career anymore. To be honest, I did not watch his new show because the previews were weak and I wasn’t interested in seeing a black man loving on a white women in a roll that could have easily went to a Black women.
As for his wife, I think he selected a beautiful and talented wife. I saw her in Wicked and she was amazing. The discussion of Taye’s career has nothing to do with his choices in a wife. If a person loves someone, you can’t tell the heart they are the wrong color. So I say love who you love, but remember this REAL world we live in and it’s very social justice issues ant still exist. Taye, take a page from Alfre Woodard who married a white man but still understands her roll in our over all struggle for equality in a society where we still struggle to be equal. OK, I’m off my soap Box. hahaha

The problem is that every black women thinks she’s the shit (subconsciously) . And the quality of men is subpar (subconsciuosly) . When they see a brother (Taye Diggs) with a white women and content . It’s a smack in the face , being blackwomen are the shit . We all know how sistas was feeling him in Stella . And now he’s subpar and everything ! Halle got this noodle european dude and the sisters are cool with it . Because they quick to say she has had a rough run with blackmen and like most women mind set it’s always the man’s fault . And she can’t find or that there is a shortage of qaulity men . And good brothers are tired of hearing that for the last 20 years . But the bottom line is that sistas believe finding a mate should not be difficult for blackmen being it so many of you’ll who are the shit (lol) . NEWS FLASH …. it’s kind of thin on our end too ! Mainly as I said before you’ll want the alpha male . Atheletes, singers, rappers, actors(T.Diggs) . It’s only because these guys have money and notoriety is the reason you all want them . Or so offended when they choose white . Stop being so concern with celebrity blackmen who don’t date sistas and show some love for real everyday brothas …… or sistas don’t do everyday . Mr. Diggs get a life!, typical, typical! want to blame all your short comings, faults and failures on blackwomen, MAN UP and take responsibilities for your life! t has nothing to do with your wife! The show was CRAP! So you’re show’s life expectancy was riding on the shoulders of blackwomen? lol…..well how come your wife didn’t rally her white girlfriends to keep your show aflaot, hmmmm; maybe because they thought it was CRAP TOO!!!! and you’re saying that we should watch the show because you’re black? If that’s the case then, we could easily say well since you’re black then you should be married to a black woman. I know it’s not about the color, it’s about who you end up falling in love with, well Mr. Diggs the same goes for your show, it had nothing to do with the fact that your black, the matter of the fact is we just didn’t fall in love with the show! Now that’s all said and done, I probally will not watch or support anything else that you do, for the mere fact that you decided to launch an attack on black women for a CRAP A– show!!

Why doesn’t Taye tell us why white women and white men weren’t watching his show as well? Because, if his show was only getting 4-5 million viewers a week, a lot more than just Black women were tuning out.

And I’d love Taye to tell us why white people wouldn’t be comfortable with two black leads or a black/white relationship in the movie ‘Hitch’, but were okay with Eva Mendes.

People need to stop acting like all the world has evolved into some color-blind society and only black women have a problem. Didn’t we just see an uproar over a political ad about Harold Ford that implied he got it on with white women (even though he does)? They were appealing to those white men and women who wouldn’t like the idea of Taye Digg’s marriage either.

And, I guarantee you if George Clooney or Matthew McConaughey married black women, they would suddenly stop being oh-so-attractive to white women.

The state of African Americans today because of single parent household is an issue that WE must deal with.

YET

That does not justify his comments.

Your basically saying he has resentment for his Black mother because he was raised in a single parent home. And that same resentment for his mother he is using toward black women. Thats lame and that can be said for any man of ANY RACE who resents their mother and dates a woman of another race. That is a personal problem, not just typical of black men.

EVEN IF THAT WERE THE SCENARIO……and he is using that resentment. … he is still lame, needs to educate himself, and refocus his resentment into helping other people in his situation.

And you had the audacity to say your glad your not us because of the way we are portrayed by others. That is just like an insecure, jealous person. We as Africans regardless of our country are special and unique. Everyone wants our features and our culture. BECAUSE of their insecurities THEY PORTRAY US AND TRY AND MANIPULATE US. And you are HAPPY to be one of them! Im happy you are one of them. You are not strong enough to be of African decent…weakling….

Instead of you worrying about why black men are bitter toward black women you need to investigate how to change those IMAGES. NOT RIDICULE AFRICAN AMERICANS. Yes that is a problem . The media is full of dirty tricks and IMAGES should not affect your decision to want to be a certain race

That Black F**Ker needs to stop biting the hand that feeds he crusty arse.

If his Nasty arse doesn’t apologize to the countless black females he has stereotyped because his stupid show got cancelled, I will make sure every black
woman and man I know boycott his future movies. I know it would be bad for the other people involved, but this creep needs to learn to have respect for us. We made his arse with that “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” movie.
It wasn’t white women that flooded the theatres to see his mediocre acting and fugmug!

Taye Diggs needs to worry that his woman looks like a TRANNY and stop minding Black women’s business.. We made his arse and we sure as hell are capable of take his shyte away!

I couldn’t care less if he was married to a DOG, coming to think of it he and his wife both favor DOGS!

This man is looking for publicity on Black women’s backs. Maybe if he were not so nervy and disgusting, I would support him.

Mr. Diggs needs to know that it is the WHITE population that did not do his show justice. Isn’t his show after LOST? Think about who watches LOST? That same demographic wasn’t supporting his show..

I don’t watch crap on TV becides GREY’S ANATOMY & DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Grey’s Anatomy has Burke who is dating an Asian woman (SANDRA OH)and not only is it one of the top shows, all of my black friends love the show.. So what is Taye’s point? He wants a scapegoat, and I refuse to let him get away with it!
I am tired of these men walking all over us! They always seem to love and know us when they are having their N*GG*R MOMENTS (Case in recent history, “O”H “J”OKER SIMPSON!

When I see groupies they are MOSTLY not Black girls~

Please believe these heifas wouldnt be with these men if they were broke. There families probably wouldnt approve it either.

I know lots of black women - Students, teachers, mothers, lawyers, Artists far from GOLD diggers. We just seem to get the stick. It hurts when you see a brother with a white girl who has obviously tanned, got a perm and botox…They want our features so bad.

Sure Darnell some black women are groupies but the majority dont have time to chase a “baller” around. And Taye Diggs is not that much of a celebrity to even imdb

THIS IS #64 AGAIN–IT IS TRUE THAT THE ISSUES THAT GOES ALONG WITH BEING RAISED IN A SINGLE PARENT HOUSEHOLD CAN APPLY ACROSS RACIAL AND CLASS BACKGROUNDS, HOWEVER, WHAT IS VERY SPECIFIC TO THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY IS THE WAY IN WHICH BLACK MEN ATTACK AFRICAN AMERICAN IN MAINSTREAM MEDIUMS. YOU CANNOT DENY THE WAY IN WHICH AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN OPENLY ARTICULATE THEIR DISDAIN AND DISAPPOINTMENT TOWARD AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN. ALTHOUGH ROBERT DINERO ONLY DATES AND MARRIES AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN, YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN HIM IN AN INTERVIEW RIDICULING ITALIAN WOMEN! SO THE QUESTION THAT ARISES IS: WHAT MAKES THE CONDITION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN WHO PUBLICLY ARTICULATE THEIR HATRED TOWARD AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN SO SPECIAL? OBVIOUSLY ITS THE SOCIALIZING PROCESS FROM CHILDHOOD ON…IN TERMS OF YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE WAY IN WHICH MAINSTREAM SOCIETY COOPTS SO CALLED AFRICAN AMERICAN BEAUTY, I SAY THAT DEFINITELY CUTS ACROSS RACIAL LINES. THERE IS AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF AFRICAN AMERICANS WHO GO THROUGH THE TORTUOUS PROCESS OF PLASTIC SURGERY IN ORDER TO ERASE THEIR AFRICAN FEATURES. MOREOVER, HOW MANY AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN WEAR LONG WEAVES, BLOND HAIR AND COLORED CONTACT LENSES (CIRCA 1990S)? THIS IS DUE TO THE SELF-HATRED THAT IS SO PERVASIVE IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY. MY GOD, YOU GUYS ARE STILL DEBATING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF COLORISM–AND “GOOD HAIR” VERSUS “NAPPY HAIR.” ADDITIONALLY, YOU UTILIZE THE VERY TERM NIGGA, NAPPY AND BLACK AS NIGHT TO DESCRIBE ONE ANOTHER–HENCE, AFRICAN AMERICANS STILL COMMUNICATE WITH ONE ANOTHER LIKE THEY ARE STILL ON A PLANTATION, SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE WAY IN WHICH YOU BRAG ABOUT HOW PEOPLE TRY TO LOOK LIKE YOU.

Personally, I don’t care who his wife is. However, I won’t lie, when I saw the previews for the show, I did roll my eyes because it just seemed typical that if a black man is to star in a prime-time tv show then he has to have a light-next-to-white woman on his arm added to the fact that the plot seemed stupid as all hell. Don’t get me wrong, I have much love for all of our wonderful shades as a race but I am mad at the entertainment industry for not recognizing that dark-skinned women are just as beautiful as light-skinned women are. True, they do throw us a bone every once in awhile but, dang! As far as this interview is concerned…even though he seems as if he is tired of answering the same question over and over again about his wife, he does come off arrogant as hell. I don’t know why he got an attitude this time, I mean if one of his white interviewers/ fans asked that question, would he have gotten an attitude? Nope, especially when he knows that almost all of them know that they have a sure fire chance at hooking up with him. I have, in the past, been a decent fan of his but not anymore.

I do agree with the well written statement made in #262. To keep my own statement short and sweet… I do not oppose anyone dating any person they share a mutual love and respect for. My problem is…just as #262 states, “Why do we have to diss a whole group of ppl because either we have had some bad personal experiences or have decided to alter our preferences?” I mean…Dennis Rodman…just b/c u dated a bunch of low-life, gold-digging, disrepectful, uneducated, low-self esteem having black women…does that mean all black women should be characterized as such? Hey…has Dennis, Wesley, or Taye ever heard about this woman making a little lead-way in television named…OPRAH? Is she doesn’t cancel all bets for black female stereotypes…well u get the point!

I watched the show, or at least tried to, it sucked and I turned to CNN. That’s right, I preferred to watch 15 minutes of news real repeat itself than to continue to endure poor acting and a senseless storyline. I for one don’t care what color your wife is. I watch Denzel, Will Smith and Omar Epps because they are good actors and invest their time and energy in good and usually meaningful projects.

When did it become Black women’s job to support television shows simply because it’s star is a Black male? To try and blame Taye’s failure(s) on the very people he has the least to do with is laughable.

Taye’s last series surely was not aimed at the female audience or the Black audience for that matter and neither was his lawyer series on Fox.Both show were set up to sell Taye as the Black Cary Grant to white folks and even they didn’t buy it.

Taye, like most white loving Black men has an extreme hatred of self which manifests itself in the hatred of Black women and it all flowed out during this interview.

Friends and Seinfeld sure didn’t have the Black female audience and they survived for years. No one would aim a show at Black women and not show any Black women and that is what all of Taye’s shows have done.

He thought he could ride the backs of Black women to fame, playing in romantic Black comedies and then jump on the white side once he had enough exposure but alas, fate has played a cruel game on this fool.

Btw, who here ever thought Tyae was fine? I was always baffled at how he got the lead in so many Black romatic comedies. His acting is okay and he is hardly fine.

Also, Terrence Howard seems to do just fine with Black women and we all know about his his white wife. What does Taye have to say about that?

I actually have never heard about this show, so I’m guessing that if none of the reviews I read mentioned it, it probably wasn’t that good.

Don’t blame black women for your crappy show. I’m sure it was just bad. The reason why Eva Mendes was cast in Hitch instead of a white women is because people in general (esp. white and black people) are more willing to watch it. Also, if his love interest were black, it’d be a “black movie,” really limiting the # of people who watch it. I don’t know if I would have felt differently if it were a white woman, but I did like Hitch. I love Eva Mendes, but I wouldn’t have watched it if it were Eva Longoria or J Ho. I also wouldn’t have watched it if it had Jennifer Aniston, but that’s because I don’t think these women can act and they all live out stereotypes (Eva L and J Ho = “spicy latinas,” Jennifer Aniston = very plain almost ugly, very white Becky type).

It makes me very angry when certain people make sweeping assumptions about others when they feel they’ve been discriminated against. It may be a natural response, but it’s absolutely unfair and unwarranted in this case.

I watch his movies and have regularly in the past with no thought to his wife or his personal life pretty much because I didn’t know anything about him. After reading this, I don’t want to watch anything he does, not because of who he’s with, but because his attitude is nasty. I can’t support any actor who I think is a bad person, so while I’m supporting Denzel, the Smiths, Morris, Brangelina, Angela, DeNiro, Depp, Gabi U, & all my favorite actors, Taye can reflect on how he just lost a lot of fans.

I loved the show he had on UPN, Kevin Hill, and out of the blue the sh*t gets cancelled, I mean it would be nice if BET could pick up some of our shows while they are still on the air. Shows like Half and Half and countless other shows that were good, now I’m not talking about the shows like Homeboys in Outerspace types, but it would be nice if our stations could pick these shows up. “Daybreak” was pretty good, but I just knew from the get go it was going to get cancelled. It required paying a lot of attention and being able to follow a complicated plot. It’s just one of those shows that if it doesn’t hit at the very beginning, it just wasn’t going to happen. And it didn’t hit.

I don’t know where all these comments are coming from that he’s not a good actor. I completely disagree. And as for him being corny, I think he stands behind Will Smith in the corny actors line and I like Will Smith.

Why is it a constant question? Think about it?

Whats funny is that aside from his personal decision to date and marry a woman thats not black (and he certainly has every right to do so, no questions asked), but he has the damn nerve to still want the dollar and admiration of black women! The fuckin nerve! It’s happening too much in hollywood to say this is a coincidence, or “you can’t help who you love.” There are too many beautiful, absolutely gorgeous black women around for them to continually be looked over and sleep with behind doors, however, there’s a woman of a different race on the celebrities arm. There are too many black entertainers, athletes, intentional choosing for partners women that are non-black (i could care less they are some other minority!) However, they want us to overlook this, and still support their black ass even though they are essentially saying “we aren’t good enough.” Sure, you can date and marry whom you want, but please don’t expect the support and constant admiration of black women. If the shoe was on the other foot, and successful black women, whether athletes or entertainers, were marrying men who weren’t black in scores, black men would be outraged. They are already outraged when they see one beautiful black woman with a white male. I’d hate to see black men’s reaction if these women were rich as hell and 70% of them married men who weren’t black! Gheesh! It would be a riot.

Black men are a trip for this reason! It’s the weirdest shit in the world to me. Black women are the best lookin women on the earth, yet, black men choose anything but black women when they exceed a certain income bracket, then all of a sudden, we aren’t good enough.

Too many black men have self-hate issues, but swear, and would curse you out, before they admit it. Black men have never truly treasured and appreciated black women. They require so much of black women, but require much less when they are in relationships with women of any other race! No self love means self hate for anyone else that looks like them.

Taye Diggs is not a good actor, period. How he got stella got her groove back is beyond me. He’s just okay, barely considered attractive. And he trips me out when he tries to do that fake ass jamaican accent every now and again.

I liked Kevin Hill, but i really think it would have survived if their would have been another, much better, actor playing Taye’s role.

I don’t believe his series was cancelled due to non-support of black women - i watched the show and quite frankly it just wasn’t all that good!

>>”Here is when he got a little attitude when the interviewer asked him about his white wife:”

Why was it necessary to use that phrase “white wife” when referring to Idina Menzel? So what if his wife is white? Are you biased as well against black men and white women being together? Why is it when a black man chooses another woman, of another race, to marry he is no longer supporting black women? So, if a white man marries a black woman then white women have the right to claim that he doesn’t support them? Let’s be serious.

What Taye said was the truth. And everyone on here knows it. If you don’t believe it go back to any other post where you’ve got black men with women of other races. They’ve become traitors to their race…by finding they love outside of the black race. Wow, what year do we live in?

There was no need for the interviewer to bring up the fact that he is married to a white woman. Who cares?

And everyone on here who has decided to degrade his wife by calling her names…I really don’t think she’s done or said anything offensive towards black women (other than marrying a black man, according to some of you). She’s been there for him before he became famous. She’s not with him for his money or fame. She has her own. I’m not sure why anyone felt the need to go off on her.

Your ignorance amazes me. My goodness, it’s just like a Caucasian to stand on a pedestal and tell other Nationalities what their problems are about, within their communities, i.e. George Bush, and the war at hand.

A perfect analogy…

A news reporter interviews and investigates the southern dialect, (the cutting and slicing of the English language by African-Americans) within deep Alabama. This airs on CBS, (the media’s intent) and becomes the topic of the next morning’s work environment. “White” people began to generalize (from only a few facts and cases) on the state of African Americans today. The discussion deepens and leads to exaggeration, (due to misguided ignorance) and “Ebonics” formulates and (consciously) defines ALL African Americans, level of speech. From this misplayed scenario, society generates someone like you, young lady; someone who loves to speak on a certain subject, and stand strong on this subject with no real and valid right. And, because you are able to string a couple good sentences, this all makes you sound impressing.

I am not impressed by your cotton ball of words, (no weight). The single family will not take the blame for the actions of a small percentage, of the population of African Americans. Young lady, your pedestal is weak; it began to lose its strength when you began to speak on an issue, a culture, African Americans in which you are not familiar with, as a whole. Your fragile comments are laced with ignorance, bottom line.

Let us try to improve ourselves before we try to change others; once you began to love yourself, love for others will come easy, and life will be less stressful.

Taye Diggs… I am not a fan, plain and simple. And, because I do not follow the media, I never knew he was married to a “White” woman. I am still…no fan.

Hello to all the vets…I’m somewhat of a newbie to this site.

I find it sort of funny that black women shun black men in the entertainment industry that date white women, however, the black women that date white men don’t feel any negative drawbacks from it i.e. Halle Berry and Kerry Washington….actually, they seem to be extremely successful.

The problem stems from the numbers in population. Black men (outnumbered by black women) really don’t have an effect on whether or not a tv show and/or movie is successful. Unfortunately, you only feel the effect of a black male in the music industry (hip hop).

In the real world, black men feel the same way about black women dating white men as black women feel about black men dating white women.

It’s very interesting that black women were the one’s getting the finger pointed at them for cancellation. @298 MIZZHAZELI’S WHO SAID:

“I find it sort of funny that black women shun black men in the entertainment industry that date white women, however, the black women that date white men don’t feel any negative drawbacks from it i.e. Halle Berry and Kerry Washington….actually, they seem to be extremely successful.”

My response:

Notice how short your list is: Halle Berry, Kerry Washington. Not a long list at all. Please, don’t try to compare these isolated relationships to the HUGE NUMBER of black male athletes/entertainers, dating non-black women! And the issue isn’t that black males are dating outside their race, however, it’s the RATE that this is being done that makes it non-coincidental, and shows there’s an issue where successful entertainers and atheletes are INTENTIONALLY selecting any other woman but black women, and it’s not cause there’s a shortage of beautiful, gorgeous, smart, witty, intelligent women available. This shit is not a result of “oh, i just happened to meet someone else other than a black woman and fell in love.” Bullshit…and to that i just say there are issues in the black race that black men refuse to admit to.

And you also made another point. The relationships of these two women who are dating and married to white men is having no effect on their careers. I believe the same with black males in entertainment or the sports world; their careers too aren’t affected either. Therefore, Taye has no damn leg to stand on with that premise. Obviously, he has other issues with his talent and his acting abilities, and the fact that his series’ keep getting cancelled has nothing to do with the lack of support in the black community.

Plain and simple… Taye Diggs has lost his groove with Stella. After he lost the accent, I lost interest. After I saw him in “Malibu’s Most Wanted”, I was completely convinced that I was over him. As a black woman, I don’t think that black women have as much as a problem with black successful men dating white women. I think the disdain is from dating trashy, “You could have done better my brotha” white women. I could care less who someone loves, but I hate the light casted upon black women. I hate that black men (especially celebrities) who point fingers at sisters. In the end, everyone needs to learn to love themselves…and who they are with.

I do not support any black male celebrity that dates or marry “other” women. If a white celebrity dates someone black they hide it because they are aware there white fans would not approve. Considering the centuries of black women beneath the rest of the world, it hurts when our wealthy black males get involve with other women because it reinforces what we have been constantly made to believe.

That we are not good enough. That the only way someone considers us worthy is if they cant get any better and once they can all we see is there back.

Don’t even get me started on Kanye West and his if your not perfect “I’m going to leave you for a white girl” or his Evil Kinivel rip off video where he dress acclaimed black actresses as skanks while Pamela Anderson who is best known for her Playboy and Tommy Lee porn video is dressed in Gucci and is the object of status, affection and addoration.

This topic is a obviously a vehicle for some black women to express their disgust at being unable to control black men, lol. No disrespect to the black women ranting about famous black men with white women but when you examine the percentage of famous black men with white women it pales in comparison to the percentage of famous black women with white men, not only in the present day but in the history of American entertainment. For every Taye Diggs, there are 40 Denzels. On the flip side, for every Angela Bassett, there are 10 Halle Berrys, lol. I know “she had to crossover because those niggas don’t know how to treat a righteous black queen godmother empress…”. Lol. How many times do you see a famous black woman with a no name black man on her arm on the red carpet? Maybe they couldn’t find anyone “on her level” before the awards were given out, lol. I guess it’s selctive analysis on the part of certain sister, lol. That shows that the frustration is not with black men dating white women, it’s with all that money being spent on a white woman by RICH black men, lol. Some black women view famous black men (and black men in general) as commodities or trophies and their worth is quantified by their bank account.

The white man has thrown off the ordinances by teaching black women that they’re superior to black men and he did it on purpose because he knew what the result would be, confusion. That’s why Sanaa Lathan made that idiotic remark on Oprah about black men “not keeping up with the sisters”, lol. Let’s face it, black women are choosing their own men and they’re resentful that the relationships don’t work so they have to blame someone. Of course there’s going to be contention when a woman believes that she’s superior to a man. Then the black man (recognizing that the white man has empowered black women over him), like a buffoon, tries to cater to being the type of man that he thinks women want him to be. The only place he usually ends up at as a result is prison, lookin’ stupid, lol. That’s also why many black women are in favor of homosexuality because it represents weak men and it makes them feel empowered. It all fits together if we black men would get our minds right and start analyzing shit the way that it needs to be analyzed. That’s the only way that people will respect black men, when they see that we know what they’re trying to do.

@ JScene #301:

Umm…The point I was making obviously flew over your head.

The point I was making was a general point. Some black women do not support black actors that date and/or marry white women. Fact! Black celebrity women dating white men do not feel the effect of their “dating preferences”. Fact! No matter how small the number. And you are wrong in your OPINION about entertainers not feeling the effects. Just ask Wesley Snipes. As far as the sports world is concerned, your point is moot at best simply because these guys receive majority of their money from MEN that go to their games and buy their sneakers and jerseys, not woment. Women make up an extremely small contribution to the salary of athletes. I never said that Taye has a leg to stand on because I personally cannot think of anything he’s done that has surpassed medicocre since ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back’. So, he truly doesn’t deserve recognition anyway, whether he was dating Chelsea Clinton or Alek Wek.

I completely agree that black men dating other races far outweighs the number of black women dating outside of their race, but that had nothing to do with my point. Black women feel that they should be loyal to black men…even if they aren’t loyal to them.

I really don’t think that was the cause of his show to fail. Race is such an easy target in situations like this, and we as Americans have become so comfortable falling back on that excuse for the wrong reasons. Let’s deal in pure fact and #’s. To have a successful anything show, album, etc. you have to have more than an African American audience.Think about it how many African Americans actually stay at home or plan to watch a certain program on t.v.? Exactly, espeacially women, they’re too busy working, feeding the kids, etc. doing what they have to do. Also, think about it do you actually think “Hollywood” thinks about the African American woman as a demographic concern when planning a show? Hell NO!!!! Hispanic maybe(because while you were sleeping they are now the largest and most powerful minority) and they have twice the disposible income,i.e. commercials , marketing, plugs, etc. The truth is, and don’t be mad when I say this, but you know it’s true. A succesful African American male is a threatning and unfamiliar image in America. That’s not negative or racist, I’m 1/2 Jewish 1/2 French African ,so I hold no issue with either side, but America is very comfortable with Black Comediens(Will Smith), Martin Lawrence, Chris Rock, or that sassy street smart thug good guy(Samuel Jackson),etc. Poor Mr. Bill Cosby tried with all his might to change this image, but he wasn’t supported by the community enough and we became comfortable with the same old same, and now here we are 20 years later still in sitcoms rolling our necks, making people laugh, on 106&Park flossing platinum jewlery and whips, and not stressing the importance of education, politics, and family(which by the way is the key to success in the Hispanic family, they stick together, go to church, and vote!)

Maybe Taye Diggs’ so-called “problem” with black women stems from the fact that they see his marrying a white woman as “rejection”. Why isn’t he entitled to marry whomever he happens to love? What is this crap?

And as far as TV shows “sucking” goes, “Joey”, the spinoff series from “Friends”, was the worst effing show I’ve ever seen on television. The character, Joey Tribbiani, is an annoying, sexist, idiot. Who’s great idea was it to take the least likeable character from Friends and give him a show???

Back to Taye, the worst racist part of all of this is the fact that they are blaming black women for the show going off the air. Did any white women watch the show (or white men), for that matter? What is this crap? White people are responsible for watching shows with white lead actors and black people are responsible for watching shows with black lead actors??? I watch what I effing want to watch, regardless of color! Don’t dictate to me what I should be watching because of my color!!!

Um sweatheart, I really want to address this post.
Darling, we all know that Black men don’t only prefer White women. The Black man has long lusted after White women since the begining of time. Simply put, during slavery, they were tempted by the slave owners wife and some even went so far as to service herself with her slaves. The Black man has always wanted her because it was forbidden.

Just the same as the slave owner desired after the females and fathered children behind his wifes back.

It is simply human nature to desire something that is denied to you. We have seen this all over the world in every culture.

In the “Broader socio-political framework” you need to look at the fact that since the time of slvery the “Black family structure has been ripped apart”.
It was not too long ago that many Black women had to leave their homes and work in a White woman’s home to survive. The Black man has been the most disrespected person on the face of this earth not to his fault. The world has chosen to disrespect the Black man which has left many of them with no alternatives.

Now, you mentioned that many households are single parent and if I am reading you correctly that many male children “Blame their African American mothers” for their abandonment.

Sweetie, I think you have not interviewed enough Black men because if you truly understood what has happened to the Black community you will see that many successful as well as poor Black men have their mothers to thank for their upbringing.

Darling, I think it is in extremely poor taste that you would say that Black women are blamed for the problems that Black men face. On the contrary, Black women have been in many ways the backbone of the family because “due to the White man’s burden”, he has been stripped of his manhood.

From AngelEyes:
Sweetie, the self hate was something put into Black men and women’s heads to make them feel inferior to the White man. Black Americans came from a once PROUD African culture but were sadly ripped from that culture. The images you and I see on a daily basis is the result of a group of people that do not have the opportunities that are many times afforded to others. If you say what you said about Black people being criminals, lawless, oversexed, etc., then why are you so aggressively defenind the Black man.

You say and I qoute “MAKES ME SO PROUD THAT I AM NOT BLACK”. Honey if you care so much about Black men and what they prefer then why would you make such a hateful statement when it is obvious that you are one of the many White women who feel you need to defend Black men because they have prefered you over a Black women.

To make such a statement is just flat out RACIST.

Do you like a Black man? Have you had sex with a Black man? Do you lust after his large member?
Do you want a biracial baby with him? Have you ever had any thoughts along these lines in your young life?

If you have, then HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU MAKE A STATEMENT LIKE THAT and believe that you are a fair and just person.

You are my dear, in no way in any position to point out the short commings of the Black woman when you have never walked a day in her shoes.

On the contrary my dear, many Black people don’t hate themselves but if they do you have to look at the social and economic reasons why.

Also, if I’m not mistaken, many and I do mean MAAANNNY White women hate themselves. Eating disorders, Drugs, SEX, Addiction to plastic surgery,
Pumping their lips up, Adding fat to their cheeks,
Adding fat to their butt, Sticking their foreheads with needles to erase the wrinkles which are inevitable. Obsessed about their weight, always trying to go Blond, screwing their way to the top.
Oh, and don’t forget the 18 year old girls wanting Breast Implants for graduation and their superficial parents willing to give it to them.

You my dear, please examine more closely your issues before you try to sum up one group of people based on your own personal experience.

You are entitled to your openion but your post came accross as very arogant and downright disrespectful to many of us Black men and women.

And don’t get it twisted. I have several White relatives in my family but they choose to have inteligence and understanding and compassion for Black people. They don’t sit back and try to love on Black people and then spew out ignorance against others.

And honey, it is not as simple as “thats what Black men prefer”. Last time I checked there are more White women Black men in the porn industry and is steadily growing. Now who looks oversexed?

Black men that have left their homes because of many reasons and the Black woman had to hold it down so please show a little more respect. People are responsible for their own actions and don’t think for one minute that just because a Black man is with a White woman that he is somehow better off with her.

If you are a jerk with a Black woman then you are a jerk with a White woman.

When more Black women start dating more White men then we will see how the White women will react.

It goes both ways honey.

@305 MIZZHAZELI’S

this is what you wrote:

“I find it sort of funny that black women shun black men in the entertainment industry that date white women, however, the black women that date white men don’t feel any negative drawbacks from it i.e. Halle Berry and Kerry Washington….actually, they seem to be extremely successful.”

then i responded and you then wrote:

“The point I was making was a general point. I completely agree that black men dating other races far outweighs the number of black women dating outside of their race, but that had nothing to do with my point. Black women feel that they should be loyal to black men…even if they aren’t loyal to them.”

MY FINAL RESPONSE:

Quite frankly you talk stupid! If you didn’t understand what i said, then i can’t help you. You tried to make a point highlighting two black female celebrities who are either married or dating a white male. And i simply said those two ISOLATED relationships don’t compare to the many black male celebrities dating non-black women, not to include the huge number of every day black men, dating white women. MY POINT, was there’s a issue within the black race cause too many successful black male celebrities are CHOOSING to date outside their race. THATS THE ISSUE AND THAT’S THE POINT!!!!! Not that people date outside their race, black male or black female! And how do you know halle and kerry aren’t receiving reprocussions from their interracial relationships! And also, tell me how Wesley’s CAREER has been affected by his choosing to date non-black women?! As far as i could see, he’s been constantly working, and if he’s slowing down, it’s because he’s pigeon-holed himself in the these super action hero types and his ass is aging and directors are choosing to go younger. But that got nothing to do with his personal choice of who he dates. Yeah, some black women did go “ah hah” when he got in tax trouble, but still, nothing to do with his damn career. So what the hell are you talkin about. As far as i can see, no black male celebrity has suffered because they choose to date someone other than black. Taye is just using this shit as an excuse.

Some things you said made, sense, but most of it didn’t. Quite frankly, you sound like one of them men who makes excuses for this type of shit…and i know you didn’t have the nerve to talk about loyalty, and how black women want black men to be loyal, yet black women aren’t loyal to them - WHAT MOTHERFUCKIN WORLD ARE YOU LIVIN IN AND WHAT COLOR IS THE SKY IN IT! Cause at last check, black women have been far more loyal to black men, and black men are quicker to date outside their race than black women. Black women are just now starting to say “fuck yaw, if it’s good for you, i can do it too.”

If you choose to post, please make some damn sense!

for me taye diggs is an okay actor with an okay frame…

HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK,

He stunk…what a bad accent from the beginning I felt that way. not convincing.

BEST MAN,

love the story line but really did anyone think he was going knock nia back out ? ol

BROWN SUGA,

another great story line but I really didn’t take his
character serious…he just doesn’t do it for me with his acting..

THE WOOD

I loved the young guy over taye diggs. the young guy who played in “fresh” please…he can act.

I personally like the acting chops of

Jeffrey Wright***
Isiah Washington
Forest Whitaker
Will Smith
Terance Howard (oh isn’t his wife white)

So as far as his movies before marring his college love…not I..never really felt him but I dig anyone legally placing their mark.

Oh, fuck Taye Diggs although I do enjoy Daybreak. I work in the Broadway community and during his run in Chicago, Taye totally ignored the black female cast members but went out of his way to accomodate and grin for all any and everything that was white.

He is one of the producers of Daybreak and managed to not have one black woman in the cast - well, that’s not totally true. The woman who plays his sister would be considered black - you gotta look twice though and you’d never ever cast her as his sister.
I’m sure that casting a woman who looked more him was OUT OF THE QUESTION.

Taye is running from a couple of things - and one of them is Africa.

Whatz up Baily @316
and MissChoklate2006 @319

You guys know what I’m sayin. It is very easy for a White person to come on here and say some bull because they can’t say it to our faces.

I would venture to say that this young woman and any others outside the Black race to come and sit and converse with someone Black regarding issues facing the Black community.

It is all too easy for certain people to say things behind their computers especially concerning race issues because they can’t look people in the eye and say what they feel.

I have some white friends and I feel that if I can’t tell them what the real deal is about things then they can’t hang with me. My white friends have to come correct because I’m not about to say things to appease them. And, I don’t trash my own people.
I have to be real with them and myself. If they don’t like it they can go jump over a cliff. I am not affraid of them because to live in fear is to not live at all.

Everyone has problems but we are all connected in some form or fashion.
What she and others like her fail to realize and acknowledge is that what her ancestors did was commit a crime against humanity and thus creating a snowball effect that still lingers today. They like to say that there are “no blatant” discriminations but she is totally disillusioned if she can’t see that blatant or not, racism still exist for many Black people. Why when 2 black people go to get a job the fairer person is prefered over the darker one. Or when a Black couple goes to buy a house and the owners decide that they want a White couple to buy their house. Why do they care. Money is money. Once they sell the house, its not theirs anymore so who cares.

It is subtle but racism is racism. Simple.

This young woman that came on here saying HATEEVERYONE..and all the other things really needs to live a little more and learn. She is obviously hanging around other Black people that bad mouth their own people. I am up for interacial dating and marriage as long as the people involved don’t piss on others. Anyone Black that marries someone White needs to realize that they are still Black when they look in the mirror and vice versa.

I say, if you are going to be around Black people be around PROUD BLACK PEOPLE and not the sorry weak minded ones. Birds of a feather flock together.

She obviously has been listening to too many Black men that say they “only date white women” because Black women have attitudes”.

And you see where she commented about Black women doing all sorts of things to erase their heritage.
You see I had to check her about the things that White women do everyday!

HI5 to blkdds I agree with everything you say wholeheartedly!

It has already been said that nobody is losing any sleep over who Taye dates. If the white girl pleases you it pleases me. His attitude indicates that he has issues with black women and with that said I hope like hell he stays as far away from them as possible because we dont need another sista out here being torn apart by a man with issues that he hasnt dealt with…

A good thing though is that men like him and Wesley Snipes puts it on the table and you KNOW exactly how they feel and if you are still dumb enough to put yourself out there well….you probably deserve what you get. Its not hard to tell when a black man has issues with black women. And its not as uncommon as many may think. I tell men that its important to be mindful of the relationships you have with your daughters because whether we realize it or not it has an impact on the relationships we seek for ourselves. I guess the same could be said for women with sons.

1. TD was loved by black women for a long time. This is why they kept recasting him in ‘young-black-love’ movies. Now all of a sudden is a talentless, corny, arrogant, closet-homosexual? C’mon, ladies (and a couple gentlemen).

2. The hatred and vile energy on this post directed ‘towards’ this brother is rooted in shame, embarrassment, frustration, and ENVY.

3. His appropriate response to the inappropriate question about his wife’s race from the interviewer is to be commended. Such questions — whether spoken or unspoken — must get exhausting.

4. TD did NOT blame black women for the loss of his show. He addressed a hypothetical question, before his show was cancelled (PLEASE re-read and note the date of the interview).

5. His wife is very attractive — by any reasonable standard. The insults regarding her looks are not to be believed.

6. The fact that TD found SOMEONE to love and marry him is tremendous. Love is almost impossible to find on this planet (most of you can attest to this). I strongly recommend that we all find it when and where we can. Most marriages end in divorce. His has not! We should all be so disciplined, committed, and supportive if we get the opportunity.

7. TD presents a ‘positive black male’ image in the media. He is positive, articulate, loyal to his wife (assume until otherwise), smooth, and highly intelligent. We can probably all agree that it is much better look than the Jay-Z (rapper / drug-dealer makes Wall Street) and P-Diddy (unwed father of multiple children and insatiable philanderer) storylines.

8. We should wish any positive brother who gets a shot in Hollywood all the best in the world — scripts, promotion, exposure, etc. WE need it.

9. It is a FACT that a person can love and respect their own ‘race’ and love and marry a HUMAN BEING from another ‘race’.

Taye Diggs has always been an average actor. I do agree with him though. He’s an artist. Who cares if his wife is white? When I watch TV or any flick, I’m only interested in good product. And why is his personal life important? I dig Will Smith, but I could care less about his wife. I’m not saying I don’t like Jada; I just don’t care about her when I’m watching and enjoying “Training Day”. I watched “Day Break” and I actually dug it. I’m sorry to see it go off the air.

I am hating on TAYE DIGGS because he hated on me!!

Taye was casted on those BLACK LOVE movies for a reason, because he was perceived as HOT!

I never ever thought he was HOT, and now that I know he has a complex and really has issues with black females, Taye DICKS is definitely on my SHYTE LIST!!

I also thought he wasn’t a good actor. His name belongs no where near Will Smith’s..

The names of good actors (Black males):

DENZEL
TERRENCE - White wife (who cares)
WILL
CHIWETEL EJIOFOR
VING RHAMES
MOS DEF
ANDRE BENJAMIN
DJIMON HOUNSOU
FOREST WHITAKER
SAMUEL L. JACKSON
DEREK LUKE - He has a non black wife (never cared)
jaime fox
eddie murphy and the list goes on..

ANGELEYES:

I AM QUITE AWARE OF THE DEGREE TO WHICH AFRICAN SLAVES WERE RAPED BY THEIR WHITE SLAVEOWNERS. THE HISTORICAL TRAJECTORY OF SLAVERY TRANSLATED INTO THE SYSTEMATIC RAPE OF BOTH BOND WOMEN BUT ALWAYS BONDMEN (A SMALL HISTORICAL FACT THAT MOST HISTORIANS FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE). AS W.E.B DUBOIS, THE SYSTEMATIC RAPE PRODUCED SOME 350,000 “MULATTOS.” IF WE LOOK AT MUCH OF THE LITERATURE CONCERNING SLAVERY, IT DISCUSSES THE WAYS IN WHICH WHITE WOMEN UTILIZED THEIR POWER OVER BONDMEN TO ALSO RAPE THEM. YES, WHITE WOMEN ALSO RAPED THEIR AFRICAN MALE AS WELL AS FEMALE SLAVES (FOR THIS REFERENCE LOOK AT SOJOURNER’S TRUTH AUTOBIOGRAPHY—SHE DISCUSSES BEING MOLESTED BY HER WHITE FEMALE OWNER). RAPE IS POWER, NOT LUST AND FOR THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO ACCEPT ANY ARGUMENT THAT BLACK MEN “HAVE LUSTED AFTER WHITE WOMEN FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME.” NOT ONLY IS YOUR ARGUMENT DISCURSIVELY FLAWED, BUT IT DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR THE WAY IN WHICH RAPE WAS USED AS A WEAPON, WHICH SHOULD TRANSLATE INTO BLACK MEN FEELING A SENSE OF HATRED TOWARD WHITE WOMEN AS A LOT OF BLACK WOMEN FEEL TOWARD WHITE MEN. SAID DIFFERENTLY, AFRICAN SLAVES BOTH MALE AND FEMALE WERE SUBJECTED TO SEXUAL ABUSE THAT SHOULD TRANSLATE INTO A DISCUSSION OF THE POWER DYNAMIC, BUT INSTEAD GETS CONTEXTUALIZED IN A FRAMEWORK WHEREBY AFRICAN AMERICANS EXCUSE THEIR MEN’S LUST FOR WHITE WOMEN. YOUR ARGUMENT ALSO DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR AGENCY WITHIN AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES. IF BLACK MEN DISPROPORTIONATELY CHOOSE TO DATE AND SLEEP WITH WOMEN OUTSIDE OF THEIR RACE, IT IS SYSTEMIC AS YOUR ARGUMENT SUGGESTS, BUT IT ALSO A CHOICE; A FACTOR THAT AFRICAN AMERICANS REFUSE TO EMBRACE. SO, THUS IN MY ARGUMENT I WAS SIMPLY SUGGESTING THAT THE ROOT OF THIS PROBLEM BE EXPLORED.

__________________________________________
Now for this part of your statement:

AngelEyes said:
In the “Broader socio-political framework” you need to look at the fact that since the time of slvery the “Black family structure has been ripped apart”.
It was not too long ago that many Black women had to leave their homes and work in a White woman’s home to survive. The Black man has been the most disrespected person on the face of this earth not to his fault. The world has chosen to disrespect the Black man which has left many of them with no alternatives.

ALTHOUGH THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY BROKE UP AFRICAN FAMILY STRUCTURES, FOLLOWING RECONSTRUCTION NEWLY FREE SLAVES SET OUT TO LOCATE DISPLACED FAMILY MEMBERS. MOREOVER, AFRICAN AMERICANS IMMEDIATELY MARRIED IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH FAMILY TIES THAT WERE DENIED THEM UNDER THE BRUTAL INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY. IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO ARGUE ABOUT THE INSTITUTION, WHEN AFRICAN AMERICANS CONCENTRATED MOST OF THEIR EFFORTS POST-RECONSTRUCTION TO GAIN SOME SINCE OF RESPECTABILITY AND NORMALCY IN THEIR FAMILY LIVES. THE BLACK FAMILY DID NOT BEGIN TO BREAK DOWN UNTIL THE EARLY 1970s. IF YOU LOOK AT THE STATISTICS, THE AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY DID NOT BEGIN TO BREAK DOWN UNTIL THEN. PLEASE DO NOT ARGUE POVERTY, BECAUSE AFRICAN AMERICANS HAVE MORE WEALTH TODAY THAN ANY OTHER GENERATION, YET THEIR FAMILY STRUCTURES DO NOT EVEN BEGIN TO MEASURE UP TO WHAT YOUR ANCESTORS FOUGHT HARD TO ESTABLISH.

IF YOU WOULD HAVE READ MY POST CAREFULLY YOU WOULD HAVE NOTICED THAT I WAS SIMPLY THEORIZING AS TO WHY THERE IS SO MUCH SELF HATE WHEN BLACK WOMEN ARE THE BACKBONE OF AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT SOMEONE SHOULD APPRECIATE THE PERSON WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED GREATLY TO THEIR WONDERFUL UPBRINGING, HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE CASE IN AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES. AGAIN, NO OTHER RACE—I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU SAY-GETS IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA AND DISRESPECTS THEIR WOMEN THE WAY AFRICAN AMERICAN DO. WHY IS THAT? THIS THE QUESTION THAT SHOULD BE ANSWERED. I AM VERY FOND OF MANY AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN FREEDOM FIGHTERS, SUCH AS IDA B. WELLS, SOJOURNER TRUTH, HARRIET TUBMAN AND MARY CHURCH TERELL, JUST TO NAME A FEW. AS STATED SO BRILLIANTLY BY ANN JULIA COOPER “IT IS UNTIL THE BLACK WOMEN ENTERS THAT THE ENTIRE RACE WILL PROGRESS.” IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HER, SHE STRUGGLED TO ADVANCE THE AFRICAN RACE IN UNITED STATES, BUT BLACK MEN WERE ALL TOO RELUCTANT TO SUPPORT HER EFFORTS. HER SOCIO-POLITICAL CONDITION IN THE EARLY 1900s PARALLELS THAT OF AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN TODAY AND UNTIL AFRICAN AMERICANS FACE UP TO THE FACT THAT THEY STAND IN THE WAY OF THEIR OWN PROGRESS VIS-À-VIS SELF HATRED AND THE LIKE, PROGRESS IS UNLIKELY TO COME.

____________________________________________
Now for this part of your comment:

____________________________________________
From AngelEyes:
Sweetie, the self hate was something put into Black men and women’s heads to make them feel inferior to the White man. Black Americans came from a once PROUD African culture but were sadly ripped from that culture. The images you and I see on a daily basis is the result of a group of people that do not have the opportunities that are many times afforded to others. If you say what you said about Black people being criminals, lawless, oversexed, etc., then why are you so aggressively defenind the Black man.

I AM AWARE OF HOW INTERNAL COLONIALSM TRANSLATES INTO DEGRADING IMAGES, WHICH VILIFY AFRICAN AMERICANS, BUT TO POINT TO THE QUESTION WITHOUT A STRATEGIC PLAN ON HOW TO COMBAT IT IS WHAT PLAGUES AFRICAN AMERICANS. WHERE ARE THE PROTESTS; WIDESPREAD BOYCOTTS? YOU ALL HAVE BECOME FAR TOO COMFORTABLE IN THE SUPERFICIAL STATE OF FREEDOM, BECAUSE THE CHAINS ARE NOT SO DISTANT. THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE ASSOCIATED WITH NOT ONLY BONDAGE, BUT ALSO SEGREGATION THROUGH JIM/JANE CROW LAWS COUPLED WITH WIDESPRED VIOLENCE BY THE WHITE DOMINANT SYSTEM HAS DAMAGED THE PSYCHOSIS OF AFRICAN AMERICANS THAT IT IS PROBABLY UNMEASURABLE, HOWEVER HISTORICAL AFRICAN AMERICAN HEROES WOULD NEVER TAKE THIS LAYING DOWN AND THIS IS WHY MY CRITICISM TOWARD AFRICAN AMERICANS STAND—YOU’RE FAR TOO COMFORTABLE WITH KILLING EACH OTHER THAT YOU REFUSE TO ACTUALLY FIGHT AGAINST THE VERY SYSTEM THAT HAS CREATED YOUR CONDITIONS. THIS MY DEAR IS WHY I SAY I AM HAPPY THAT I AM NOT BLACK; BECAUSE I COULD NOT IMAGINE BEING PART OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT FAIL TO FIGHT THEIR OPPRESSION ON A DAILY BASIS. YOUR ANCESTORS WHO DIED IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SLAVE SHIPS AND ON PLANTATIONS MUST BE TURNING OVER IN THEIR GRAVES, BECAUSE PEOPLE IN YOUR COMMUNITY HAVE SIMPLY GIVEN UP THE STRUGGLE. SINCE THE LINES HAVE CLEARLY BEEN DRAWN, IT IS NOT WONDER WHY A BLACK MAN CAN GET SHOT AT 50 TIMES AND THERE IS NO WIDESPREAD MARCH. WHERE IS THE MARCH TO STOP THE VIOLENCE THAT BLACK PEOPLE INFLICT ON EACH OTHER?

A BLACK MAN WAS SHOT AT 50 TIMES, SO PLEASE KEEP YOUR STATEMENT OF “FAIR AND JUST.” THE WORLD IS CRUEL AND ONLY THROUGH VIOLENCE WILL CHANGE HAPPEN. I DON’T KNOW IF YOU KNOW THIS, BUT EUROPEANS WERE RIOTING AND FIGHTING OVER BREAD, BEFORE THE EXPLORATION AND EVENTUAL RAPING OF AFRICA. VIOLENCE AND OUTRIGHT WIDESPREAD GLOBAL MOVEMENT TO DISMANTLE SYSTEMS OF OPPRESSION WILL LEAD TO CHANGE—NOT PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS OR EVEN EMAIL DIALOGUE.

THIS PROBLEM CUTS ACROSS RACIAL LINES—BLACK WOMEN HATE THEMSELVES LIKE EVERYONE—I THOUGHT I MADE THAT CLEAR IN MY POST—EVERYONE HATES THEMSELVES AND WANT IN SOME WAY TO LOOK LIKE THE NEXT PERSON—

THE REST OF YOUR POST WAS A BIT UNINTELLIGBLE. BUT LET ME SAY THIS AFRICAN AMERICANS ARE FAR TOO CONCERNED WITH HOW WHITE PEOPLE VIEW THEM AND HOW THEY FEEL TOWARD THEM. WHO CARES ABOUT COMPASSION AS YOU PUT IT? HOW HAS THAT GOTTEN BLACK PEOPLE ANYWHERE? STOP WITH YOUR HIGHER MORAL AUTHORITY AND GET OUT THERE AND FIGHT FOR EQUALITY, BECAUSE IF YOU EXPECT WHITE PEOPLE TO WILLINGLY GIVE IT UP YOU’RE SADLY MISTAKEN. THE ISSUE THAT I HAVE CONVERSATIONS SUCH AS THIS ONE IS THAT UNDERNEATH CRITICAL RESPONSES TO WHAT I’M SAYING IS THE NEED FOR SOMEONE TO RESPECT YOU. GET IT ONCE AND FOR ALL, WHITE PEOPLE DON’T CARE AND CAN CARE LESS ABOUT YOU, EVEN IF THEY SLEEP WITH YOU. TAKE BACK YOUR HUMANITY WITH FORCE AND THEN YOU WILL GET SOME RESPECT…

GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE!! y’all need to read before you comment. 300+ comments and only 3 or so of y’all actually read the article. ignorant. i’m no taye diggs fan but that quote was totally taken out of context. you need to read the entire article and the questions posed to him before you bash taye. the “journalist” is the one who makes sweeping generalizations about black women. i never cared for taye and i was one of those black women who had no desire to watch a black man romancing a white woman on my tv screen. so i did not watch either of his shows (although he was good on will&grace). but i have no problem with whom he chose to marry. actually, i initially thought indina menzel was fugly until i saw her in wicked on broadway. she is the bomb for real and i can see why anyone would be attracted her - she’s not classicly pretty but she is truly magnetic. in any event, taye is getting a bum rap on this post. READING IS FUNDAMENTAL! READ THE ARTICLE. i agree with what taye says and he is not blaming black women for the show’s failure.

FINAL RESPONSE FROM #64—I AM NOT AFRICAN AMERICAN. WHAT’S PAINFULLY OBVIOUS IS THAT NONE OF YOU ARE WILLING TO ENGAGE THE BROADER ISSUES THAT PLAGUE YOUR COMMUNITIES (HIGHER RATES OF INCARCERATION, UNEMPLOYMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION, HIV/AIDS, AND HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT. I RECALL DURING THE 1980S AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERS CRITICALLY ENGAGED THE ISSUE OF BLACK MEN BECOMING “ENDANGERED SPECIES.” I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE REVISED TO DISCUSS THE ENTIRE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY.

Diggy is right. Black people always quick to accuse someone of racism, when you all are racist to the core. A black man has to be with a black woman, but she can bed hop with whoever has the biggest dollar sign flashing over his head. Knowing your momma’s told you to go for yours and get a man that’s got paper. Why can’t a black man do the same thing? go for a woman of refinement and class, who just might come from money or at least a nice upper middle class family. He can then concentrate on his career and making himself a success and not worry about pulling her family up from the depths of despair. He should be able to date whomever he likes and I love his take on not caring about what anyone thinks b/c when you start to worry about others you pretty much sign your fate. You are doomed. This stuff is crazy and out of hand. let’s find some real battles to fight and leave the BS alone.

Hateeveryoneequally, Angeleyes already told you what the whole issue was about. Why must you continue to go over the same issues plaguing African-Americans. Does rehashing the same thing make you feel superior? It’s always good to point out everyone else’s issues instead of looking in the mirror and working out your own issues (we all have them). Anyway, whatever.

Since you are not AA, don’t worry about it. I suggest you study the issues going on in your own community instead, unless you think people like you are perfect.

@hateeveryoneequally

You have no idea what people are doing to fight issues within the black community- so don’t come on this blog acting all high and mighty like if we followed your instruction we could solve all of our problems.

It’s quite peculiar that you would suggest that violence is the course of action we should take to gain the respect of white people and regain “freedom”.

You must be smoking crack-seriously how is violence going to solve anything? Are you suggesting that I risk leaving my children parentless, losing my job that pays my bills with no assistance from the government, and start a fight with a random white person or no let’s really do it big-a government institution such as the police? Sounds like a suicide mission to me, your attempts to motivate, provoke, or arouse black people on this site are amusing.

In regards to your comment “I’m glad I’m not black” for you not to be black you sure know alot about black people and the current issues we face. Why?????Go live your carefree, problemless, happy non-black life and stop concerning yourself with issues that have nothing to do with you-right?

The issues black america faces today could soon be your problem tomorrow, do you think that these white women who date black men aren’t going to have black children or has “mixed” became an official race.
Last I checked according to our government these children are black, this child could very well be one of your family members. When he or she encounters racism I guess your response will be “I’m glad I’m not black” or go fight “whitey” for your respect.

There are no significant numbers that support that black men are dating white women more than they date black women. This is just another attempt to keep black men and women at each other throats, and as long as we feed into the hype it keeps us from communicating and working together on issues that affect our communities.

The fact of the matter is blacks are gaining financial power, are succesfully pursuing and obtaining college degrees, and are becoming their own bosses by starting their own businesses and depending less and less on white america.

The truth of the matter is magnifying and focusing on issues that black communities are currently facing is an attempt to discredit our many accomplishments. Whites still want to be viewed as the superior race and that is why this article has sparked so many responses-blacks are being spoon fed this bullshit everyday to make us believe that we are a lost cause.

Take your bullshit over to another blog-sweetie the most violent man alive is white-and our leader President Bush. This man is responsible for thousands of deaths but for some reason the media doesn’t see it this way. I know who I am and where I come from, do you?-I come from a family of working people, I’m educated and I am quite active in my community to fight the many issues all americans are facing(whites included), HIV and AIDS, violence, teen-age pregnancy, high school dropouts etc. This is not just a black problem it’s all of our problem. And people in my community black, white, etc. are involved and working together to resolve these issues.

Why is your non-black ass even commenting on this issue and why would you even be on this site to begin with? I would be interested in knowing if you know your own race’s history as well as you do blacks-probably not seeing that white isn’t a race to begin with.

When are ppl gonna realize that color does matter in 2006 and has ALWAYS mattered? Racism never went away, just hid in the cut. Too much bad history in this country, to ever make things right. I just read an article in the paper that stated “Many White Americans ARE racist”, so why should I be accepting of a race that doesn’t and will never accept me? We Black ppl need to start focusing on empowering ourselves and our race instead of running to white folks for love or anything, because what i’ve noticed about white folks time and time again is that they will turn on you in a heartbeat if they had to.

I read the article. The point is that he’s indirectly blaming his lack of success on race when it has to do with his bad show.

Not everything has to do with race. Terrence Howard has found mainstream success and he has a white ex-wife. I think he’s a good actor, though I think he got popular acclaim for the wrong movie (his role in Crash was much deeper and relevent today, and frankly, I hate the idea of glamorizing pimping and movies that make it seem like all black people are wannabe rappers). I support Sidney Poitier. In spite of his overwhelming guilt, most black people support(ed) OJ.

The odd thing is that in his show on UPN (I caught a show after it was cancelled) was really good and one of his better works. The cast and his love interests were pretty much all white from what I gathered. That didn’t bother me though it probably didn’t get mainstream success.

TD belongs on Broadway. He is probably a great stage actor, but not so great on TV or movies.

Also, for those who claim that black women wouldn’t want him anyway, that’s a lie because I’m sure there are plenty of black women who dance as well who would appreicate being with a man like him who gets their work. I’m personally not into dating people who seek the limelight (models, musicians, actors, dancers, etc). I don’t want to be with a person who seeks constant validation and this is speaking from my very bad experience with an aspiring singer. That ish is NOT for me.

This person isn’t black nor white, he’s probably African. someone whose studied African american socioeconomics for so long, has admired americans for so long, no he’s here and he’s been discriminated against for being associated with black america.

I think that people who have so much criticism against other people has a PROBLEM with THEMselves.

I didn’t watch Taye Diggs’ show because I was disinterested. Cosign with Bailey and others that made their point.

HATEEVERYONE…What is your connection with Black people? You still did not answer my question?

HATEEVERYONE you are obviously filled with hate, confusion, and prejudice.

If not, you would not continue your comments and look at your own life and community. Or better yet go out and help someone who is African American and stop finger pointing.

BY THE WAY HONEY. I BET YOU A MILLION DOLLARS THAT I KNOW MORE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE THAN YOU DO.

YOU ARE GLAD THAT YOU ARE NOT BLACK?
WELL YOU HAVE A WHOLE LIST OF THINGS YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF BEING WHITE. AND I LISTED SOME OF THEM FOR YOU BELOW.

AND I GOT NEWS FOR YOU. YOU AND I HAD NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER JUST THE SAME AS AFRICANS HAD NO CHOICE IN BEING DRAGGED TO SLAVE SHIPS.

Look at what history and white poeple have done all over the world.
APARTHEID IN SOUTH AFRICA.
COLONIZATION IN NORTH AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST.
HOLOCAUST.
GENOCIDE OF NATIVE AMERICANS, WHICH THEY STILL HAVE NOT BEEN PROPERLY COMPENSATED FOR.
DESTRUCTION OF CIVILIZATIONS. ETC.

Look at the many crimes that your people are commiting everyday against their own people.
CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
INCEST
PEDOPHILIA
SERIAL KILLERS
CORPORATE CRIME
AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.

Darling, for everything you point out about the Black community we can counter what you say. Everything has a consequence and what has happened to many Black people is partially a consequence to what people in your heritage has done.

YOU JUST DON’T WANT TO ACCEPT IT. YOU AND MOST WHITE AMERICANS ARE NOT SORRY THAT SLAVERY HAPPENED AND PROBABLY WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT IS WAS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY JUST LIKE MANY OF THE THINGS THAT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS DONE TO PEOPLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

To enslave a group of people and called them animals and to lynch them without a tear is one of the worst things that White people have done.

Honey, I could care less what White people think.

I don’t need their approval. And I come from a long line of successful, educated, talented, and beautiful people, both Black and White. I put myself through college all on my own will and continue to do the things I want to do. White people have no effect on my life whatsoever and neither do you.

HATEEVERYONE….You are racist plain and simple.

You try to sound like you are defening Black people and their problems but on the other hand you say White people don’t care about Blacks.

YOU ARE NOT FOOLING ANYONE. GET YOUR RACIST ASS OFF THIS BLOG AND GO JOIN THE COWARDLY KKK.

White women have always had their way with niggas like Taye, Seal, Ice T, Lou Rawls, Flip Wilson, Prince and Sidney Portia’. Take away take away their success and money…most white women wouldn’t give these fools a second look! So, if you gonna buy a woman, you may as well buy the one you prefer!

Conversly, most white men only go after black women who are rich or they have caucasian features like Halle and Mimi!

They can have Taye!

Taye isn’t a good actor to me. i didn’t like him in any movies/shows not just the ones he was in with nonblack women. and that sounds really ignorant to blame blackwomen for your show sucking and we don’t give a damn who you sleep with at night. He seems to have a big chip on his shoulder, which i’ve noticed a lot of darker skinned black men with white women seem to have.

F*ck that bum-ass n*gga. Take your L like a man. How does such a small population of women cancel a show? ABC’s a major network, so White viewers not checking for his show caused this cancellation.

I don’t get it when some on this site say some of the black women on here are hating because they don’t find Taye Diggs atrractive ,all of a sudden. I don’t think hes ugly but don’t find him atrractive and not because of his skin tone or his wife. Those who call him black names have self hate issues themselves.

I myself date white men,but don’t think all black men are unatrractive.

Taye has to relize that people probably didn’t like the show. Hes one of those black guys who are insecure because of what some say about how some black women are totally against him being married to women of another race and are boycotting him.Its ignorant for him to think that way. Its funny how some black women still try to date black guys(some even more)who say they don’t date black girls because of whatever and then below themselve to that level.

Whats wrong with a good white man?

WOW. To be so arrogant about your acting skills and business decisions to blame your TV show’s bad ratings on how Black Women feel about you being marred to a White women (Please).

I’m Dominican (Black Latina) and I felt your show was not as good as the commericals made it out to be. Am I supposed to blindly support the show just because your a main character? I mean…..your fine and cute but the show was not great to say da least.

Admit defeat and move on Brother. We have to the next show. Stop making excuses. Halle Berry admitted Cat Woman su_ked so why can’t you agree to the say thing.

Now the Movie entitled “Deja Vu” was HOT / Caliente. Learn from Denzel instead of just hating.

If the white man was going to determine whether or not black people would keep their voting rights based on this thread, it wouldn’t be a good look, lol. How can ya’ll be trusted to pick the demon that’s gonna bomb Muslim countries relentlessly for the next 4 years if you can’t even be trusted to read a two page article before denouncing Taye Diggs and his alleged “hatred of black women”, lol. 99% of the people obviously didn’t even read the excerpt, much less the article where the “journalist” race-baited Taye Diggs and at no point did he disrespect 1)black women 2)any other black male actor 3)himself. All he basically said was “to each his own”. Once again, it was a good study in the anger and resentment of a percentage of black women though, most of whom applaud Halle Berry and Kerry Washington, lol. Keep in mind, I believe that he definately has issues with black women but that article is not the place to castigate him.

I’m embarassed for black people that a caucasian, #342, had one of the most forthright and precise analyses of the black community and what it really takes to change the situation that we’re in. That post is an accurate reflection of how your oppressor views black people, lol. That’s the same type of caucasian that’ll joke with you at the coffee machine about the Yankees or some shit, lmao. He’s too smart to say that stuff to a negro’s face though because black people have become like children, they throw tantrums when you’re honest with them, lol. No disrespect to the people that tried to come against that caucasian but YOU ALL GOT DEMOLISHED. Simple as that. Ya’ll tried to sound intelligent but your rebuttals just read like children trying to articulate their tantrums at an abusive parent rejecting them, lmao. Black people are so overly emotional and concerned about caucasians and making them feel comfortable that it’s pathetic. Even a caucasian stepped up with some honesty (for a change) and told you as much. Once again, #342, I thought that your post was beautifully composed and easy to be understood by those with understanding. You systematically cut apart that person’s and all the other people’s “argument”. Black people bitch and complain about racism when it suits them, they march and picket behind “leaders” that are in the white man’s pocket, and then they forget about it all when they get bought off. The worst of all, like #342 said, they refuse to acknowledge the “root of the problem”. I also love what you said about there being no change without confrontation. There is not one moment in the history of the planet earth that an oppressed people attained any form of respect by appealing to their oppressor. It’s amazing that a caucasian can see what’s going on but you have certain black pseudo-intellectuals on this site that talk about a “nation-wide” educational program for blacks, lmao.

BTW, #342, I’m happy that you’re happy that you’re not black and man/woman enough to say it, lmao. I hope you make more comments in the future.

at the end of every sentence, please spare us the LMAO. because what you posted failed to make a point on eith side of the argument. and nothing that you said was funny

i don’t understand why caucasions and other ‘black intellect’ have this desire to track the progress of a group of people who have, by circumstance, came a mightly long way since the enslavement of our ancestors, which, if you look on a timeline, was yesterday. we have came a long way. there is no comparisons that need to be made with caucasions, a group of people who are thriving these days by old money. don’t, please don’t try to compare two groups of people who have, and will never will have, anything in common, will never have a common ground or playing field.

its amazing how, by posting online, that you are so excited about your choice to have a side in the argument. “I’m embarassed for black people that a caucasian, #342, had one of the most forthright and precise analyses of the black community and what it really takes to change the situation that we’re in.” We’re in? Excuse me? We. And then you go on to say, “your opressor” - pick a side. Anonymous website blogger. You can’t have it both ways.

You find pleasure in the power to pick a side and then insult the black community with “YOUR oppressor.” There was nothing in his posts that makes me beleive that he has a solution for the situation that “i’m in, you’re in?” I don’t know- and you don’t have a clue either. And if you beleive that the post was typed by a white person, who is cowardly enough to type in ONline, and would never say it to a black man’s face. Then you should scroll up and read the posts again.

about sounding intelligent? please. Some of us who don’t have to prove anything to a white man or woman, wouldn’t really be concerned with trying to sound a certain way on an online blogging site. It’s really not that serious.

and I understand that taye may have issues with black women, but that’s his own personal issue and he failed to provide a dignified response, unlike his peers who would have been a little more graceful with their responses.

black women don’t have to take the blame for the failure of his show, nor take the heat for any of a black man’s issues.

instead of speaking about the suppossed resentement and anger in black women, we need to talk about the absence of black men, in universities, at home, in businesses and politics.

So interracial relations is NOT an issue for me. that being said, Taye Diggs is NOT my fav’rite actor, the only things I have seen with him in it are “Stella” and “Best Man” and even then, it wasn’t so much him, as the entire cast, story line and so on. plus, Black women are NOT enough of an influence on ANYTHING in the US.A that we can get a show cancelled. Blah blah blah. Who cares if his love interest isn’t black his show simply sucked.

And is it that serious if someone dates outside their race?? why are some ppl always so threatened by that?? I’m just wondering. I guess maybe because I’m interracial I dont see it that way. My mom is Chinese & Latina and my dad is Arab… and ever since my sibling and I were little my parents always told me be proud of who you are and never judge someone by the color of their skin, love them from the inside out. I’m seriously glad they instilled those values in us. I’ve been dating a black guy for 4 years and black girls talk alot of shit about it for some reason & alot of them choose to dislike me simply because I’m dating “their” man— TRUE STORY. “You need to date someone closer to your race & leave our men alone blah blah blah.” I don’t care what anybody says… we’re both intelligent and goal oriented and treat each other with respect and I honestly think thats all that should matter. He could be green for all I care and I would still date him.

Taye Diggs works hard to disassociate himself from his jamaican roots but everything he does shows it.
Using black american women to get where he wants to go, and then abandoning and showing his hateful nature after he thinks he’s ARRIVED is typical jamaican. Eventhough raised in NY he’s still a jamaican and he’s going down just like the rest. Good riddance. I wouldn’t go see nothing he makes, not even a commercial. He doesn’t want to star opposite a black american women because he’s too hateful to share the limelight with the people who helped him get where he is. LOSER

I was in Taye Diggs’s graduating class at The School Of The Arts here in Rochester, NY. I would like to set the record straight. At the time I knew him, Taye was always a perfect gentleman. He did not “start shit” with anyone. He was a very talented actor/dancer, and I am so proud of him and happy that he has had so much success in his life!

I cannot believe all this hate spewing from this blog/board. I am biracial (black and white), and I have always been upset by ignorant people - of any race - who can’t see past skin tone.

I am saddened that the interviewer wasn’t capable of writing a more substantial piece; one that wasn’t tainted with race baiting questions. Taye was speaking from his experiences dealing with specific individuals, not everyone under the sun. I can imaging that he (as would anyone) would be defensive about his personal life, especially after receiving serious threats to his family’s safety. For people on this board/forum to not have more compassion is reprehensible!

And it should also be noted that his life is his own; no one else’s. He must make life decisions that are right for him, and not worry about the “haters”, as they must not love their own lives. God Bless him and his beautiful wife! May they have many more years of happiness and success!

We are all human, we are all the same. We all bleed red blood, we all turn to dust when we are returned to this earth. Please, don’t forget the past - instead learn from it, and help make our future brighter. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Man I couldn’t read through all 1 million comments but did anyone ever think whites wouldn’t support it because its a black man fucking a white woman.

I always hear people getting mad at black people for not liking white women, you think white women like black women dating their men? Or you think white men like seeing black men dating white women?

Only difference is if they open their mouth they are labeled racists and we aren’t so we talk about it all the time. I am sure if whites had the freedom to speak about interracial relationships without sounding racist they would.

Taye is corny….the end.

I don’t hate on Robin Thicke for his fine ass black wife because he isn’t corny and damn if I ain’t humming “lost without you” right now. LOL Rob you my Nigga and so underrated.

Facts:
Taye is lame

If you are black and date white people (real white people, not thuggard whitington who grew up in the hood) you are corny. Ever think that black person is corny like Taye and that’s their only option, damn corny niggas need love too!

@#380

My objective was not to “get into the argument” so I really don’t know what the hell you’re talking about. Anybody who’s seen my posts know my stance on the black community and what we need to do, so negro please. Honestly the only intelligent thing that you said in your post was that you don’t know the solution for the black community. Good admission, that means that you should be quiet sis. That’s the biggest problem in the black community; too many negroes that don’t have shit to say but want to be heard. Sit your ass down and be quiet.

It’s obvious that the caucasian ripped everyone that tried to debate him/her to shreds because he/she spoke plainly as opposed to the normal politically correct bullshit modern-day blacks and whites speak. “I’m all for black on black love, but I’m for interracial dating also…”. What?!! Make up your fuckin’ mind you idiots. The black women that say that are usually the angriest ones, lol.

You know what’s funny though sis, you’re so intelligent that you were too smart to read the excerpt or the article where in no way, shape, or form did Taye Diggs blame black women for the show being cancelled b/c it was cancelled 3 weeks after the interview genius, lol.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that you’ve probabbly already done more than your share of talking about the black man not being in politics, universities, jobs, etc. I bet that if black men started to assume power in this society many people that claim to support black men would take it as a threat and try to sabotage them (already happens, lol). Many people like to have someone to feel better than. Hypothetically speaking, if black men did wake up one day and excel as a group, many black women wouldn’t have anyone to blame when shit goes bad. NO MORE MARY J. BLIGE, lol. Not to burst your bubble, but you or no other woman is qualified to tell or teach the black man how to be a man or what a real man is because most of ya’ll don’t know. The black man will have to wake up and figure that shit out on his own as the Most High continues to afflict him. Good luck to you.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Diggs feels the way that he does regarding what he perceives to be the views of African American women. First of all, I am offended that he feels that he can be a spokesperson for black women.

I personally liked the show, and until his recent comments about his misguided views on black women, I shall reconsider supporting him in the future.

It is true many people on both sides of the race coin will continue to have a problem with interracial cou-ples. It is an unfortunate state of affairs. The question should now become how do you make the situation better? The answer, I feel, lies in being tolerant of difference.

“Every individual is a collection of his or her experiences.”

I just hope he realizes that you cannot generalize the thoughts and views of black women, individuals are, after all, diversified.

I don’t not agree with black men dating white women. Because it’s done in such a large volume there is a back lash in regards to black women. We are seen by everybody else as weak, bottom choice, unattractive, useless….Our own men don’t want us so what does that say to the rest of society????I guess if the shit was more balanced with white men dating more sistas it would’nt be a big stare issue. I’m sure all black women feel like shit when we go into a resturant or club and all the brothas be with white girls. I walk in and everybody be staring at me, wtf??In California it is out of hand.

Sooner or later we will have no choice but to date men outside our races.

Please do not diss my comment I’m speaking personally from how I feel everyday in the Bay Area. Look deeper into your souls black women and I’m sure a lot of you have the same kinds of stories. Pretty soon our race will be non-existant (black females) and “mixed” will be the new black.

Just curious, does anyone know or heard of another county where black women are respected?

Typical!! blame the black women when your shit don’t go right….just like the typical black man when he’s involved with some heifer of another race; put the blame of their demise on black women and it has absolutely nothing to do with us. The truth of the matter is that black women really don’t give a two cents shyt who black men date as long as they treat us with respect but nooooooo, some of those bastards gotta spread hate and disrespect towards us to convince themselves that they made a “good choice” by being with someone outside of their race…what the fuck ever!!

I saw the show and his acting along with everyone on it was HORRIBLE!!…and that chic he had as a love interest is just like your typical interracial relationship, they automatically believe that the black man is guilty if the evidence looks even a little convincing…weak azz heifers!! I saw the previews for the show and it did’nt catch my eye, but yall gotta realize it could be something personal to the reason why he dates white women…Taye Diggs is in his early 30’s, Wesley Snipes is in his early 40’s these are dark skin brothers so I know they grew up in the late 70’s and 80’s when at that time dark skin brothers was not popular, it was when Michael Jordan and Wesley Snipes came out in the 90’s is when dark skin brothers got play and Morris Chestnut made it official, now all sisters want is a dark skin brother, but these guys went through being called “Black”, “Choco” “Smutty Black” “Jiggaboo”, So it might be an personal thing with these brothers like “Ok when i was nothing you sisters was’nt checking for me and now that I’m in movies and on T.V now you wanna holla, naw I’m going to get me a white girl or an asian and that’s what Taye Diggs and Wesley Snipes have, so I think it’s personal….Look at Halle Berry she’s dating a white boy and I think that’s out being shitted on by 2 dumbass black dudes (Eric Benet~David Justice), but and I mean this when i say this..Not all black men are pieces of shit, Me and millions of black men cherish our sisters…

I signed up just to post: I give no thought to the race shit-y’all straight dumbing down on that topic, like we really homogeneous. My point is this: NONE of you are looking at the big picture. Why can’t we have a Black male lead role prime time? Why does every nigger gotta be just a fucking comedian or a puppet for the US army? Thats what the majority of these post consist of “satire”. I support any bro that tried to get it popping on a serious life or death note, where his character is working outside the system or blurring the lines because thats closer to my reality than the fresh prince, waynan bros or jamiie fox shows.Taye diggs show was at best good for a 2 part mini series, but he was a dummy, lacked resourcefulness and possessed no charisma-shit was a dud after wk2.

OK, ppl, u are just tooo sad. Its not that strange Taye’s getting annoyed over the racial thing, he even got a death threat for being married to Idina. I think the way you comment on Taye and his wife is rude and unhuman, even. You seem to forget that those people are, in fact, PEOPLE! ACTUAL HUMAN BEINGS! Come off it..

Pam you probably did not hang with the same group we hung with but I tell you the truth when I say this. Of course he was not loud and obnoxious with his disproval of black girls dating outside our race but he definately would give these couples “the look” and make off handed remarks in the presence of me and my cousin.

My cousin could deal with him I guess and I don’t hate the guy, but I’ve always thought of him a bit conceited and proud. I don’t care that he is married to a white woman. What I do not agree with is the fact that he will use this(and add ONLY black women in the equation) as a way to justify any failure that he has in his career. I call him hypocritical only because of his attitude about interacial relationships(of black girls) in the past. PEOPLE SOMETIMES SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS WHEN THEY FEEL COMFORTABLE TO DO SO. He felt cool with us at the time,so he didn’t mind us knowing this side of him.
When I heard he married a white woman I was pleasantly surprised but if I was his wife, I would feel a bit resentful about him using me as a scapegoat for his problems.
Honestly the show got very little promo time and that’s probably why it didn’t do good. I’ve seen his past movies and I must admit the roles that were given to him seemed like they should have been given to different actors.(Like someone had posted earlier, I could not see him blowin’ out Nia Longs ‘back’ in The Best Man). I could see him playing the role of a professor or mabye a humanitarian in Sudan in one of those Sundance type movies.
He’s just not the sexy actor type to me.

Taye Diggs should be ashamed of himself. Crap is crap. Any body regardless of race can pinpoint crap blindfolded. No one is going to watch a show where the main character repeats the same day over again through an entire season; no one wants to watch a poor reiteration of Groundhogs Day. Instead of blaming us he needs to blame the writers, the network for poor marketing, and his shoddy acting ability. How dare he compare himself to Will and Denzel. Will and Denzel possess a star quality that exceeds color lines and he will never come close. Furthermore, the majority of films and projects that made Taye Diggs famous were for black audiences; such as, The Best Man, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and The Wood. Oh I see T.D. you use us to get your foot in the door so you can have a stable base of fans but blame us when precious white America doesn’t accept you. Dig this Taye, once you realize that your acting skills are horrible and do something to change that you are going to see a lot more career lows.

WOW! This issue has really gotten under the skin of the sisters. It’s funny how no one was concerened with Taye Digg’s white wife when he was hot in How Stella Got Her Grove Back. Black women everywhere were running to see the movie and saying how fine Taye Diggs was as Winston. Not until a few years ago when he started showcasing his wife more did he start receiving all the hatred from the black community, especially from black women. Taye Diggs is not the first black actor to marry a white woman, and he won’t be the last. I understand now why so many brothers are dating outside their race.

first of all if the show is wack then the show is wack, no ifs ands or buts about it. I don’t know about other people but if a show is corny i’m not gonna watch it, I have better shows to look at, im not gonna run to watch datbreak just beacause a black man is on it, when i could be watching greys anatomy, lost, 24, prison break, desperate housewives, the list goes on. Obviously his acting was not up to par, and instead of blaming people he needs to get to some acting classes, and try too perfect his craft before he is living in a cardboard box with his wife, and then lets see if shell stay with him then. LOL

Taye Diggs is an idiot. How dare he blame black women for his shows failure.

I am a black woman married to a white male. I would never put brothers or the black community down in an effort to justify my interracial marriage. I’ve dated men of several races and my husband just happened to be the one I fell in love with. Men like Taye usually marry outside their race to try to prove something. I see it all the time. My husband and I can be out in the mall with the kids, all of a sudden I get the dirty looks, the rolling of the eyes, etc… Guess what, it’s usually from black men who are hugging up on some white woman… LOL go figure! There are 2 types of people in interracial relationships. The first type are those that don’t see color as an issue or an asset; they just date whomever strikes their fancy. The second kind are the Tayes and the Whoopies. The second kind feels obligated to diss the black community - especially black woman. Usually referring to black woman as mean, ghetto, or attitude prone. How stupid. These are the self hating asses who blame “blacks” for everything wrong in their lives. Hey Taye, your show sucked…get over it. Don’t blame me for it being cancelled. And for the record, your not such a hot actor to begin with…

On another note…
I was honestly a bit pissed off that his love interest in the show was white. Why? Because every show that stars at least one black male always pairs him up with a non black female. Yet, how often do you see a black female on prime time television, being paired up with a white male? When Ross on friends dated Gabtrielle Union, that was axed quicker than you can snap two fingers.

Lets face it. Society puts white women on some stupid pedistal. They are taught when they were young, that they are the most beautiful creatures in the world and that all men should and will desire them. That is why so many white woman put the evil eye on me when they see me with my husband. I’m a brown skin, 6ft tall black chick, with a big boodie, big boobs, and thick lips. They look at my tall, blond blue eyed hubby like he is crazy. I guess it blows their minds that he didn’t choose one of them.

Some black men feel in order to get back at black women and to get back at white men…marry or date white women. How Silly.

A good spouse is a good spouse, no matter what color their package happens to be. Turn out the lights and we are all black.

Did Taye Diggs actually say “My show got canceled because black women weren’t watching it because they hate me because I’m married to a white woman?” Is this what he said or what the media spun?

It’s just too bad that we can’t treat each other with the respect we’re forever wanting from white people.

First of all can we stop saying the word different race, we are all one fucking human race….different ethnic groups yes, different race no. Second of all, if black folks would stop worrying about what other black folks are doing and took care of themselves this topic would not even exist. The fact that a black man/woman dates or marries someone from a different ethnicity has nothing with rejection of his/her people. It has to do with where you at. If I live in a neighborhood that is mixed there is a possibilty that I might get invovled with someone who happens to not be well of my ethnicity. Same goes for anything else. Now as far as proffessional educated folks are concerned. As a black educated man of 28, who went to college has a degree in engineering and am somewhat financial secure, refuse to hook up with anything less. AT my current place of employment, I am the only brother in my dept and youngest. And to boot there are no sistas. I have a lot of white girsl my age, but no sistas. Now if I became involved with one of them it has nothing to do with rejecting sistas but it has to do with a my future as far as agina stability is concerned, mental growth, happiness and ultimately love(not exactly in that order. This very issue is tyhe same for successful sistas who struggle to make it to the top only to find dead weight brothers who want to occupy their space. It’s not haapeing whihc is why there are many succesful single black women out there. Racism is racism people let’s get over it. The reality of it is we can’t blame white folks of today for shit that white folks did to blacks eions ago. Most of the white folks that blacks hook up with aren’t even descendants of former black owners. Now with that said, I am a fan of Taye DIggs, I think he makes good movies and regardless of what, just like Will Smith on Will Smith, the characters that Taye portrayed were an honor to blacks because they did not showcase the negative views that society usually have and give blacks. When you look at Kevin Hill, he portrayed a successful black lawyer who was taking care of his cousin’s kid. who gives a rat’s ass if the women he was with in “The Show” were not black. So what….the reality of it is that is on eof the reasons why the show was cancelled. Even the network producers said so. They did not recieve the amonut of viewers that they were expecting. And the funny thing is that I strongly believe that white folks are more tolerant to inter ethnic relations than blacks….get over it…If you dont like that shit than dont do it dont fault someone else who fell in love and did not allow the hate of society come between that….As far as Day break was concerned the first two episodes were cool. But how much of the same scene can one stomach for a month…..The reason for the cancellation of that show can be argued….All and all let’s all love and be loved and move beyond who is doing who and what color they are doing. It’s 2007 soon to be 2008. Love and peace from James, professional black man.

And one last thing, did any of you read the article? If you read the article, you will notice tha the first thing that the author does is apologies because he questioned Taye two minutes within their interview about the ethnicity of his wife…..If oyu continue to read the article you will notice that within quotation marks Taye asking the author/interviewer what made him an expert on the opinion of black women….People before you start to accuse people learn to learn the whole facts and not excerpts of it. Taye himself admits to disliking the show Kevin Hill because it used false advertising to lure people in as far as the show being a “black show”. GET YOUR ACTS RIGTH PEOPLE SO THAT WE CAN MOVE ON

And as for number 348 you are really ignorant…you show nothing but ignorance, discrimating mentally and somewhat racial contempt for your own people by stating that you dont like Taye because he is TOO Black and ugly. Not the ugly part but the TOO BLACK….Why is it that we always have to discern one another via our shade of blackness….oh he too black or he too light or he/she too nappy headed…If you could make statements like that than on the real people like Don Imus has ever fucking right to say nappy headed ho….If you don’t like, if you don’t wanna hear then don’t fucking say it. Because as long as you say that shit then all you are saying is that you embrace and accept it. If you show little or no respect fro yourself dont expect people to do so either…..
