Since it’s World AIDS day, I decided to post up some stats and info about this horrible disease and how it’s destroying the black community and the world.
- The HIV/AIDS infection rate among black men is 6 times that of white men and the rate among black women is 16 times that of white women.
- AIDS is the leading cause of death for black women
- AIDS now accounts for 1 in 3 deaths among black men aged 25 to 40
- More children with AIDS are black than all other racial and ethnic groups combined
- Every day in the United States, about 100 people of color become infected with HIV
- More than two-thirds of all women in the United States who are infected with the AIDS virus are black
- Blacks represent over half (57%) of all new AIDS cases in the United States, though comprising less than a quarter (13%) of the population
- AIDS is the leading cause of death of blacks, age 25-44

@239, I agree, on top of that. Not trying to be funny but they need to hand out larger condoms as large as Magnum XL. Like women who were larger bras, some men (like me) need larger condoms. This might be a little a personal, but lets put it out there. In college you can get free condoms at the health center. I’d have better luck wearing those on my thumb then the purpose it’s needed for. I’m not going to lie, I hated wearing condoms cuz they were really hard to put on and way too tight, but I realized maybe I should get a larger condom. What a differnce that made!
I only say this because we talk about sex ed, but we don’t talk about other things. Men, if your condoms are too tight, you may need a larger one.

thanks for sharing ya’ll. and though i don’t have any personal testimonies about this disease. i clearly see how fighting this disease is just as much my responsibility (especially as a teacher in a predominately black high school) as it is anybody else’s. be blessed and be safe ya’ll.

I am glad to see that this post got an overwhelming response. The one thing that dissapoints me is this whole DL phenom and it’s automatic association with men. It has really taken off after “McMillian-gate” and I want all ladies to know that it’s not just the men that needs to be truthful, but also the women. In this day lesbianism is being practiced by tons of women because it is the in thing and chic. How many women out there are doing DL things and bringing things to there husbands? Too much emphasis is spent hating on the men, but it can and does happen the other way around. Remember that. I’m not sugarcoating my stans for Pity, anymore than I did for “Be Safe”! Be Safe had over twenty people praying for him on Friday! And, those prayers were not just for his healing, but for his deliverance from the lifestyle that preceeded his condidtion. He knows that the conditions is secondary to his relationship and getting right with God!
