BRANDY INVOLVED IN A FATAL CRASH

brandyaccident.jpg

Many people emailed this story to me and I wanted to wait to get the news from more sources for accurancy. Turns out, TMZ’s report is indeed true…read on:

Actress and R&B singer Brandy was involved in a fatal, four-car accident on a Los Angeles freeway last month that started when her sports utility vehicle hit another car from behind, police said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old former star of the TV comedy “Moesha” was not injured, but the driver of the car she rear-ended with her Land Rover in the December 30 crash died, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim was identified as Awatef Aboudihaj, 38, a married mother of one, said CHP spokesman Leland Tang.

No charges or arrests have been made in connection with the accident, and no formal determination has been made as to what caused the crash, which was first reported by the celebrity news Web site TMZ.com.

He said the chain-reaction wreck started when Brandy’s vehicle ran into the back of the car driven by Aboudihaj, whose car struck a third vehicle, then swerved into the freeway’s center divider and was broad-sided by a fourth automobile.

A statement issued by Brandy’s publicist said: “She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased” and asks the media to “respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time.” READ MORE @ REUTERS>>>

TMZ.com also spoke with a witness who described Brandy at the scene of the accident. The witness stated that Brandy “got upset, talking about how it was all her fault … she didn’t stop, kept saying how she hit the lady,”. He added that Norwood “walked in front of traffic, crossing the lanes of speeding cars, then she did it again. People were honking at her to get out of the road. She was obviously disoriented and highly upset.”

I kind of shocked that the news is just getting out when it happened almost a month ago.

  2. Mecha

    Wow….thats really sad.

  3. AllMensJoy

UH 2ND? This is really sad and unfortunate, I know B-Rocka must feel horrible

  4. JuJu

I just saw this on TV today and my condolences go out to the family of the young woman who died in this unfortunate accident.

  5. Watch_and_Learn

Keeping her emotional and physical health in my prayers.

  6. I'm already a star! I got 9 Grammys

    Damn, Brandy!

  7. JANEE

You know, I really wish that some of these so-called JOURNALIST can keep their mouth closed sometimes. As if this wasn’t tramatic enough for her, they have to let the ENTIRE world know. SMH. God Bless HER, and the womens FAMILY…SMH @ “HOLLYWEIRD”

  8. With that said, why is People.com reporting it as though it just happened. This was from DECEMBER? I heard nothing about it in Dec. Anyhoo its sad and my prayers go out to the victim’s families. At least Brandy wasnt the one who made the girl go over the ramp or whatever she hit. The car she hit then hit another car and then that car was hit. WOW

  9. I'm already a star! I got 9 Grammys

Now the paparazzi is going to be all over her wanting her pics like white on rice. It is sad to hear but ppl who drive SUVs know that they are potentially safe in an accident. They forget that this does not mean their victims will be safe. That woman died such a horrible death.

    :(

  10. I’m going to keep Awatef Aboudihaj’s family in my prayers. My heart also goes out to Brandy because it could happen to anyone and this is something she has to live with for the rest of her life. I just hope later we don’t find Brandy was negligent.

  11. brndfcknnu

I heard about this today on E! I hope she alright, cus a mighty big burden to carry I’ll pray for her.

But that would explain why she has been low key lately.

  12. Dave

So sad. May God be with all involved.

  13. romeo

this is so sad I will keep the victim and brandy in my prayer, this could happen to anyone so brandy shouldn’t fill like it her fault cause I truly believe it was an accident.

  14. prettynikki

that’s horrible. i’m upset for the child of the mother and brandy, who is probably not in a good mental state right now.

  15. Wow! my deepest condolences to all involved.

  16. i really don’t know how this was kept under wraps for almost a whole month. this really sucks that something like this happened.

  17. pretteyeyez

I saw this Wednesday on Inside Edition. It’s really sad. I hope everything works out for everyone involved.

  18. Nyla

This is sooo sad, people probably didn’t know about it, until now. My condolences to everyone involved.

  19. I feel bad for her. I can only imagine what that’s done to her psyche.

  20. Natalia

Wow, this actually happened two minutes away from my house. My sister told me there was a really bad accident on the freeway and they put up all these weird dividers up the next day. I had no idea Brandy was involved! I’m suprised they kept it a secret for so long,it happened about 3 weeks ago. I feel bad for the family and for Brandy, I hope it wasn’t her negligence that caused the accident

  21. the greatness

My condolences go out to the victim. As for B-Rocka this is what happens when you whorship an Alien named Xenu. I hope this knocks some sense into her so she can leave that cult named Scientology

  22. Yola

It’s very traumatic to be involved in an accident, not to mention one where someone looses their life. My deepest sympathy to all the families, May God strengthen them through this difficult time.

*My friend was also involvded in an accident over the december holidays, where they collided with an elephant (I found it very funny at first when she told me and I actually laughed after speaking to her, but then realised the seriousness of it)but through the goodness of God nobody was seriously hurt.

  23. Simply tragic. Although as unfortunate as it may be, in California whoever hits from the rear IS AT FAULT PERIOD. Brandy could be looking at something terrible that even the best defense team can’t finagle her out of. Dang, that’s tooooo bad, really too bad.

  24. Catie

that is so sad. my heart goes out to the family of the victim. she was a mother of one. my heart also goes out to brandy because it will take a while for her to get over this.

  25. nette & eZ

    arrrh man.
    this is sad.

  26. Tammy

    @ Yola,
Are you serious? I can’t even imagine running into any type of animal. It must’ve been very frightening for your friend, hope you’re consolling her.

I also hope that Brandy was’nt driving negligently, she could really be in for some serious stuff.

  27. mack

nobody knows what happened but brandy! i’am sick and tired of hearing idiots saying she was probably on a cell phone or something! i love you brandy!

  28. LadyMahogany

They say she was diving 65 and the speed limit on the fwy is 60 (you can go 70 without getting a ticket)so she wasn’t going extremely fast.I’ve been in an accident very similar to this one but I didn’t go skipping through traffic.I pray that Brandy can somehow bounce back from this, for me I wouldn’t drive for a year.I will pray for Brandy and the victim’s family.

  29. That is so sad!!!!!!!! I could understand why she was out in traffic, I would feel horrible too.

  30. This is sad indeed.

It must be really hard for Brandy too, feeling guilty about this for the rest of her life.

  31. RissyJay

My condolences out to all involved. I’ll add them to my prayers tonight as well.

  32. TANISHA

I’m ify about this story!!! brandy in an accident in la?? a media crazed place and we are hearing about it a month later? that stuff jus doesn’t happen in la!!! it would have been all over the news.Plus everyone knows brandy never drives herself she has a driver named brian (a family friend).

  33. @31 LadyMahogany, 65 is extremely fast.

I mean, she was going freeway speed. I ran into a man who was in front of me and I had my breaks on but I could not stop my car until I colided with him. I was prob at 30 or 40 at that point and it seemed like I hit him with a serious force. I’m just saying. Don’t you think 65 can seriously cause bodily harm if not kill? Especially coming from behind? I mean, I know that she prob died from the force of the other cars that hit her so I’m not saying that Brandy actually killed this woman. She just hit her first. But I’m with you on the rest of your post. This is really sad and no one wants to be involved in a fatal wreck. It can happen to anyone.

    Peace to you LadyM

  34. ccrystalrystal

I was scared for a minute because of the way the headlines are written. I thought it was Brandy herself who was fatally killed. My prayers are with the woman who was killed family .

  35. ThinkAboutIt

Prayers for comfort and strength for the family of the victim.

And prayers for Brandy and her family as well. This is traumatic, and a heavy burden for anyone to bear.

Life is so fleeting – one minute just driving down the highway and in a second, it all goes so bad, and your life is never the same.

  36. Nikki

That’s what I was thinking , same shit..why is it just coming out?..The way some people were talking, I thought it happenened yesterday. I looked it up, this happenened December 30th. Crazy man. Keep your head up Brandy, you will be alright.

  37. rianastu

I pray for Brandy, this is a tough thing to go through. Brandy has admitted herself on Oprah how unstable she is. I hope she is ok.

  38. keisheloc

Life is too short and i feel so sorry for the women killed in that crash. I know Brandy is messed up in the head right now

  39. I read this story yesterday…this is really sad. I feel for all parties involved…

  40. ms_mac1

Late (as usual). But nice cover with the “checking sources”. lol

This is too bad. Just goes to show that every second of life is precious but fleeting. Hopefully the family of the deceased won’t use this as an opportunity to financially benefit from the loss of the victim. People become vultures when they smell money.

  41. Ms.Sultry

Condolences to the child and the rest of the victim’s family, may she rest in peace. Brandy…B-Rocka…Babygurl…my heart goes out to you. I was in a terrible accident in which I was driving. I had my fiance and my daughter (who was about 6 or 7 at the time) in the Suv with me. It was a two lane diving path, and the truck flipped over twice, landed upside down, about a foot away from a swap!!! ( That area is known for the dead bodies and stolen cars that people rid of in that very same swap! Needless to say We All survived without a scratch! Thanks to my Almighty God yet again. My point is I know how terrifying a situation like that can be, so my HEART definately goes out to my girl Brandy…I love you girl. Keep your head up, and seek God’s face and voice.

  42. WOW I COULDNT LIVE WITH MYSELF IF I KNOW I WAS THE CAUSE OF THAT LADYS DEATH DAMN..

  43. shannon75

This is tragic…I feel really bad for that woman’s family. I know Brandy must be feeling so much guilt. I think that the media kept the story quiet out of respect of the victims involved(if there is any such thing as media respecting victims). I wonder if Brandy will dedicate a song to this woman and her family…if she does mabye she can use the income from the song to help this woman’s family…just an idea.

  44. R&B 4 LIFE

Many prayers go out to Brandy and that woman’s family. I guess she wanted to keep it quiet so that the family could grieve. As a person who lost their mother, not by car accident, but by illness, I can understand what those people are going through. Brandy seriously needs prayer, love, and comfort, as well as that family and all parties involved. Hopefully, God’s love and time would heal all wounds, physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

  45. This is waaaay beyond serious. I hope no one on this board tries to make a joke out of this. If this were any regular “Joe”, they’d be looking at vehicular homicide, easy.

Celebreties have been in fender benders before. Robin Givens hit an elderly woman (who lived), Halle Berry had a hit and run (they lived), actress Rebecca Gayhart struck a boy and killed him (she never served a day), so did Left Eye (although I don’t think she was behind the wheel).

I hope they don’t try to make an example out of Brandy. She wasn’t paying attention, plain and simple. And although her vehicle didn’t have direct impact with the victim’s, it was the one that put it all in motion.

Whether Brandy faces jail time or not, she faces the stiffest sentence no judge can give her; her conscious every night when she sees that woman’s face.

And no disrespect to THE GREATNESS, I respect your opinion and all, but this was not a Scientology matter. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, hell even Atheists die everyday. What defines it is your belief (or non belief) in what happens to your soul in the after life.

God be with you Brandy. For real… all jokes aside.

  46. I feel bad for her……LOVE YOU BABY!!!

  47. Natural Mystic

I feel for Brandy. Her life seems to be facing many trials right now. Her career isn’t what it was, the baby daddy stuff and now this. I hope she has the strength to get through this.

  48. macfac

my prayers go out to the woman who was lost, her family, and to brandy…

my problem with this whole thing is that it’s EVERYWHERE and it’s bad enough that they make Brandy look like a murderer, but some of these headlines make it look like Brandy was the one that was killed. i think the reason for the delay in the press was because the woman didn’t die immediately and they needed to make sure that the cause of death was definitely from the accident. plus, my father’s car was just totalled two weeks ago and he JUST NOW got the police report…stuff takes time…i love brandy and i hope she can pull through this as well…

  49. R&B 4 LIFE

We all know how the media is. They will twist and deceive any story to make it interesting. I am agree with 50, they are trying to make her look like a murderer, and she’s not. These things happen everyday, some worse than what happened in Brandy’s situation. Believe half of everything you see and half of everything you hear. Prayers once again to Brandy and that family.

  50. My prayers are not only with the family of the deceased, but also with Brandy because that had to be a really bad feeling.

My aunt was involved in a fatality accident 4 years ago, where the other persons car caught on fire and they couldn’t get him out and she still struggles with it even after going through counseling.

  51. sugarB

Prayers go out to Brandy, this girl hasn’t had the best of luck lately. I can only imagine how shaken up she is. I hope things turn around for her.

  52. This is unfortunate….BUT did you like use the ugliest picture of Brandy that you could find??? This picture looks like she got hit by the car.

  53. Tam

    Wow,

    That’s really scary.

  54. WHAT DISTURBS ME IS THE FACT THAT THIS HAPPENED A MONTH AGO AND IT WAS “COVERED UP” AND DIDNT WE SEE PICS ON HERE WITH BRANDY ALL JOLLY AND HAPPY AFTER SHE JUST KILLED SOMEONE? ANOTHER MOM AT THAT SMH…

  55. what you know about that

My Condolences to the Aboudihaj family. My she rest in perfect peace.

Brandy keep your head up! This was an accident. Sometimes God throws things like this in our direction to make us stronger. He forgives you!

And didn’t Brandy say she only went to one Scientology class?? One person mentioned that this is what happens when you praise the wrong God. Boy I swear, people will run a story into the ground once they get a hold of it. And not just that, people have no right to question someone else’s faith.

  56. Boss Lady

My condolences to Brandy and the family of the deceased. One thing I am happy about is that the police said Brandy was NOT under the influence of drugs or alcohol, therefore this was a mistake and not the result of a DUI or anything.

  57. Kenya

My heart goes out to Brandy and the person that she hit. I believe that Brandy really feels terrible about what has happened and I pray for them both.

  58. @Brightfuture, you wrong for that! LOL I was thinking the same way though. Was this picture taken at the scene of the accident? She looks very distraught.

Anyway, forget the pic, I hope Brandy can get over this. I know it may take a while but time heals wounds. My condolences goes out to the victims family. This is truly sad. I do know this, Brandy will be more careful with her driving next time she gets into a car. Whenever she does decide to drive again.
