If my mother was killed in a car accident by a celebrity, i would sue for the maximum amount too. It’s not about greed, it’s about punishment. That amount of money would hurt her more than a jail sentence( that probably wouldn’t get served) would. If she is truly sorry, she shouldn’t have a problem paying that. Most people who are rich and famous get a “Get out of jail free card”, because of their status and wealth. That’s not fair. I would venture to guess that this mess will settle out of court for some multi-million dollar amount- though far less than the trumped up 50 million they are asking for. It is in bad taste that the victim’s family sued so prematurely and that should be frowned upon. However, I am sure they had attorneys beating their doors down to represent them.

Paying some type of monetary settlement will be the easiest way for Brandy to say, “I am truly sorry for your loss.” However, she should not let this event define her life, she will move on and basically obliterate it.

It sounds ridiculous to say that Brandy shouldn’t be sued or charged because “it was an accident”, especially in a case that resulted in death. The woman that died as a result of the accident had children that now need to be taken care of. Her parents are suing on behalf of her children. I don’t have a single problem with that. Irrespective of whether or not it was an accident and the fact that the money will not bring her back, those children still need to be supported until they are adults. (The legal term is “loss of consortium”)

I got into an accident on the same freeway. A water bottle got stuck under my break and my car slammed into another car. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. My dad paid all the medical bills for the family and I thought everything was over. 2 months later I got served with papers. The people tried to sue my dad ( I was a minor)for $600,000 dollars!
