I am happy for Letoya and all of her success after she was booted from DC. I think the girls have a right to say what happened. Who are we to judge for real. We don’t know what happened behind closed doors. People talk about groups that breakup all the time so what makes this any different. As long as they never give up on their dreams, anything is possible. Letoya did it and I am sure tavia and farrah will do the same at whatever it is they want to do. They might not be as big as beyonce but you can’t say they not trying to make it. Who knows what the future holds for them.

I’m sure this post will garner a response that will be heard by both Matthew, the label and the remaining memebers of DC.

I find it good that their[LeToya, Tavia, Farrah] story is finally being told because interviews after the breakup had the world assuming that the other 3 girls were the “bad seeds”. Furthermore, I find it amazing how Bey, Kelly and Moma Knowles can know that Matthew was wrong for what he did and still support that decision…are they that afraid of him? It’s true, to have a successful business one must run a tight ship, but kicking someone out a group that they started and then going to the media like they were just plain awful is horrible…and it’s crazy that they continue to say “The Lord this and God that” when they know they’ve done wrong.

Well I was a fan of the old Destiny’s child not saying I didn’t like the new one but the Old Destiny’s child have this style that fit them and everything they said has been said for years, but that part about La’tavia being sick was in the sister 2 sister when they talk about how Matthew did them, which I can believe I mean people been saying that Matthew is a Asshole for years, I doubt very seriously that some rumour which half of Beyonce fans are going to try to say. Originally, I was a fan of Destiny’s Child back in the day, when it was 1998-2000. However, when they kicked LeToya and LaTavia out of the group, I stopped liking them. IMO, Michelle was the weak link and the group has never been the same. Also, for all of us who were fans of Destiny’s Child, before Michelle, knew the story about LeToya, LaTavia, and Farrah it is not a new one at all. This story was out way back in 2000 when all three young ladies were kicked out of the group.
Also, I think it’s a shame how on VH1’s Driven show about Beyonce, how they made LeToya, LaTavia, and Farrah look like the bad people. It’s a shame that four years later, the mainstream public is finally getting the real story about what happened.
However, I have to say this. If Matthew Knowles knew that Beyonce was going to be the star, how come he didn’t just promote her as a solo artist back when she was a teenager? That would have been so much better instead of wasting the time of Kelly, Farrah, LeToya and LaTavia.
Also, I have to give it to LeToya. She has a successful album which is very hot by the way and she seems like a cool person. I wish her all of the best in life.

You know what, if my friends and I had started a dance/singing group and were together 95% of the time, our families broke bread together at every single holiday, we as a group had overcome many obstacles that were in our way to finally finding some success and my father had fired two of the girls, I would’ve still continued the friendship, why throw away all those years over something that you as a member of the group had no control of?

I have heard Bey, Kells, Toya, and Lativa all say how they lost their best friends, how they were really like sisters, if that was true then why not a heads up? Why not call and let them know what’s going down? We spend all this time together, you knew what was going down and you didn’t have the integrity to even tell me before it hit the media first? I honestly think that would’ve hurt me more than being replaced. Matthew had an idea where this was going from jump because if he hadn’t, it wouldn’t have been a problem for them to find their own business managers.

That B was the only one allowed to have hair like hers so she could stand out more

That Michelle wasn’t allowed to use her reall name because it was too ethnic ( I think her name is Tenetra) While B got to keep her name cause it was different. I actully remember Lala making a comment about it on MTV and telling Michelle she should use her real name and that it was pretty.

It was a lot of stuff being said back then. I think that people will really see what’s going on sooner or later. The only person I really feel sorry for is Kelly. She does have a nice voice and I’ve been told by several people who have seen DC3 up close that Kelly is the prettiest. Matthew keeps giving her BS producers to work with etc. She could be a huge star if she would stop following B. I think she really believes that if she is a good friend and supports B that good things will come to her. She needs to do her own thing and get better management. I know she real salty since LaToya had a #1 Album. She has access to tons of resources in the industry, there is no reason why she can’t put out a killa album.

I watched the special and I was shocked when Latoya said there were days when she couldn’t pay her cell phone bill and they were on their European tour. That’s crazy.

Yeah, old school Destiny’s Child fans know this story, nothing really new here. It does confirm that their side of the story is the more factual one, though.

Joe Jackso–I mean, Matthew Knowles can deny it all he wants, but Letoya and Letavia and Farrah’s stories match up, and other industry people who would know the truth are confirming it. And if even only HALF of what they say is true, Matthew Knowles is still a dirty dog and he should be ashamed of himself. He’s still shady and getting sued left and right to this day. One day he’s going to be held accountable for his actions, so if I were him I’d start making amends and stop pretending like I’ve been taking the moral highroad this whole time.

Then again, the hypocrisy of that whole family bothers me. You’ve got Matthew Knowles trying to cheat everyone out of everything. I didn’t get to see the show, but trust me when I tell you that there is a lot more that the girls can’t say that went on with this group. Matthew Knowles is DEFINITELY a shrewd businessman and he certainly sacrificed a lot by leaving his job and nearly losing his family as a result.(Tina had dumped his ass and had a new man until the girls started getting big and then she took him back) the problem is, the more he gave up, the more the group became HIS life and in that, the girls became “his”… he was determined to make Beyonce’ a star and if that meant the other girls were going to be pawns in his game to do that… then that’s the way it was/is going to be.

People don’t realize it, but Letoya and the other girls had been thrown out of the group SEVERAL times - but then, by then, they weren’t needed because if you listen to the first 3 Destiny’s Child cd’s all you heard was Beyonce - Tavia and Toya would show up and tracks would be completely FINISHED and they would be clueless so basically when they got on stage they were background singers singing words to songs that they didn’t have anything to do with.

The way their contracts were structured, Tavia and Toya were being paid as background singers and Beyonce got the bulk of the money while Kelly got a tinge more than the other girls - why did Kelly get more? Because Kelly’s mother was a maid in the city of Houston and she was living with her mother at the home of one of the rich families her mother cleaned for and when she lost her job, Kelly was spending a lot of time with Matthew and Tina to keep her from being house to house. Eventually, her mom was headed back to Atlanta and Matthew and Tina asked if they could keep her in Houston with them, her mother gave up custody and the rest is history.

The reason Matthew didn’t want Letoya in the group is because he was paying Tina, Solange and many of their friends and relatives (Solange) more than he was paying Tavia and Toya, Letoya’s mother is a CPA (Accountant) and it seemed that everytime she asked to see the books to do an audit, Matthew found a reason to kick them out and usually, when that happend, there were so many meetings and so much ruckus to get them BACK in the group, that the original “audit” request was forgotten because there was so much relief just to have them back in the group.

The final straw came when that new contract came and the girls were about to make it big and Matthew asked Letoya’s mom and Latavia’s mom to give him power of attorney over the girls so that he could sign contracts, etc on the girls behalf, Letoya’s mom was like HELL no! and suggested that Tavia’s mother do the same… next thing you know, here comes Farrah and Michelle.

Now, what most people don’t know is that, although Kelly comes across as the sweet one… SHE was the biggest problem in the group, everytime there was drama between the girls, usually Kelly was behind it.

Although I dont’ like how Matthew did things, he IS the reason for their success and you can’t blame Beyonce’ for taking his side during all of that drama, that was her daddy, he’s her hero and how CAN you convince a 17 year old that her daddy is not a good person? He was GREAT in HER eyes… so people BLAME Beyonce, but I agree with a lot of the posters above - this shit is about her parents.

That’s so true — there has even been a book about all of this in 2000. LeToya is doing well with her business enterprise and her new album — and she has said that she and Beyonce have reconciled and may work together — this is not a good look. She is so beyond this and has made her talent known independent of this.

Yes the drama that happened with Destiny’s Child is 7 years old, but the public never got the WHOLE story from everyone’s point of view. There is always 2 sides to every story. Of course we got the Knowles & Kelly’s version of the story because they are the ones who continued to be in the spotlight. But now, my girl LeToya is back and she aint trying to be fake for the cameras…..she is real, and she go tell it like it is cause she has nothing to hide.

As far as Farrah goes, I have no sympathy for her. She chose to leave the group on her own. The group was already successful at the time, all she had to do was hop on the wagon and enjoy the ride…..hell Michelle did it! And now she is a well known singer with a whole lot of money, and no one ties her to any of the drama the Knowles has cooked up.

Something in your head should say let me help do something help make the outfits or pay for some of the pictures or something but no they just sit back and let other people take care of it. That’s what you do if you want to make it in this game. LeTavia, Farrah…if you were done so wrong, you should have been able to rebound instead of complaining about how you were done wrong. Both Letoya and Letavia got a settlement, which apparently only Letoya made good use of.
(It’s like the Supremes and this prevailing story that Diana Ross did Florence Ballard so wrong. I thought so, until I looked it up and saw that Florence was fucking up for a minute before she was fired. Even her sister says Diana treated her better than folks thought.)
That story has been told and told and told. This is not hardly the first time. Those girls had their say at the time in several media outlets and to Matthew Knowles’ credit, he never tried to deny ANYTHING.
He may be a father who has strongarmed folks to advance his daughter’s career. He may be hardcore in his attitudes. But he’s made his daughter a star and despite what most of you believe, if she’s a bitch she keeps it to her personal life. There are not even rumors inside the industry of nasty behavior from her. I’m sure she has her moments and the show definitely showed one of them. But the word on Letoya and Letavia at the time was that they got caught up in DC’s success and weren’t putting in the work that Kelly and Beyonce were. I do commend Letoya’s mom for trying to make things right for her child. But Matthew Knowles was right. His daughter was the undeniable talent in that group from the beginning and as you can see, the others were, in fact, expendable. This business is what it is. MK could have handled it better, and so could Beyonce. But at the end of the day, who are you riding with? Your longtime girlfriends or your dad who’s had your back since day one, who left his job to support your career? What daughter ain’t a daddy’s girl if you lucked out on a good one? Sometimes it ain’t what is done, it’s how it’s done. And I could fault Matthew for that, but he’s never hidden his feelings or try to be shysty about his shit. One more thing - the whole hospital situation….so you’re telling me…you have a tour sold which if you cancel you could be sued. There are three other girls to think about. Apparently the $$$ was coming up consistent with the contract they signed. And because they were only 16 and 17 at the time, their parents should have been more involved in that part of the process.

If I were LaToya, I would be thankful that I was kicked out of the group before DC really became big.
LaToya has been able to establish her own identity and herself as an artist in her own right without being overshadowed by Beyonce or DC.

Look at Kelly and Michelle. It’s going to take them a while and a few really great CDs before they are able to step out of Beyonce’s shadow. They have no identity outside of DC. That’s a shame.

I doubt the problem is really Beyonce, it is REALLY Matthew, he said it himself that he replaced Latavia on the tour. Do I think that Beyonce is innocent? Of course not, but it is also obvious that she is not the completely guilty one either. I loved the old DC and I LOVE the new DC. Letoya is a success, Beyonce is a HUGE success. I just saw Dreamgirls yesterday, so when LeToya and LaTavia said they saw a premier video with new DC members, I immediately thought about Effe watching Deena sing One Night Only. It has happened to me and if any of you haven’t experienced this, keep living.
