ISAIAH WASHINGTON GETS HELP FOR SAYING ‘FAGGOT’

Thursday, January 25, 2007

isaiah_storyagain.jpg

Isaiah Washington, who does the healing as a doctor on “Grey’s Anatomy,” is the patient now. He’s in therapy for his use of an anti-gay slur against a castmate.

“With the support of my family and friends, I have begun counseling. I regard this as a necessary step toward understanding why I did what I did and making sure it never happens again,” Washington said in a statement Wednesday. “I appreciate the fact that I have been given this opportunity and I remain committed to transforming my negative actions into positive results, personally and professionally.”

Washington took a break from filming Tuesday to meet with gay rights activists and offer help in educating the public about the cruelty of such words, an offer the activists called sincere. Whether Washington was receiving outpatient counseling or had entered a facility was not specified, and the statement did not indicate whether he would miss work on the show…

Series creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes issued her own statement, at once criticizing Washington for his use of the word “faggot” about co-star T.R. Knight and lauding Washington’s decision to seek help.

“I speak for all the executive producers here at ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ when I say that Isaiah Washington’s use of such a disturbing word was a shocking and dismaying event that insulted not only gays and lesbians everywhere, but anyone who has ever struggled for respect in a world that is not always accepting of difference,” Rhimes said. This is the future, or present, of America. It’s one example of a concerted attempt to force the black community to be “less homophobic” and particularly to effeminize black men. Isaiah Washington must be “counseled” for being against homosexuality, lol. Soon people may have to be counseled for not being homosexual. They were already going to write him out of the script anyway for the first time he called out that homosexual but now he’s made it even easier. I’m trying to figure out why he’s lying and why he’s putting himself through this counseling ordeal. If you called the man a faggot, man up and stand by what you said. If not, then he should sue because the homo went on Ellen Degeneres and said that Isaiah Washington called him a faggot. I hope he’s not going through all this false contrition to look for pity because pity is not something that black men receive, lol.

I think that if a white man had used the word against another actor, the people from GLAAD would’ve been jumping on it a whole lot quicker than they did here. I was wondering why the local chapter hadn’t publicly chastised IW when it was first said?

This just burns the hell outta me!! While the word is definitely derrogatory and offensive, it hardly requires someone to go to THERAPY because they used the term. Can you imagine if we all went to “therapy” for saying words that offended people?

Glaad has IW by the balls on this one. Unbelievable! He apologized for crying out loud now they want blood from the brutha.

A lot of people are trying to use the race card in this issue but I don’t believe that’s true. If it came out that Patrick Dempsey, who is probably the biggest star of the show, made those comments he would probably also have had it printed all over the internet. However, the difference is that he would probably have a much better publicist and damage control team that would have advised him to never say that word again. Isaiah Washington must not have the right people around him advising him.

@Judah I so agree with you. I mean in hollywood if you say anything about jews your anti semitic and gays your homophobic. I thought phobias was a condition to which your scared of it. I am sick of labels period. The man was probably provoked. You know some some queens get. He probably was on his man mentrual that week and probably said a snide remark or two to Isaiah and Isaiah probably snapped and flashed on him. I just wish this dang issue would die down. There are alot of people who wont admit it but they dont approve or agree with the homosexual lifestyle. I mean for me personally to each its own. I could care less but its a sad state of affairs when a lifestyle you dont agree with is pushed down your throats as if its the norm. 10% of the population is homosexual or practices it and that should tell you that those statistics alone that its not in the norm.
I dont want my children exposed to it and to be honest if my children were to grow up and be gay I would be very very upset and it would take me a while to accept it. Now would I disown my children or not speak to them..NO but it would take a lot of prayer and help to move past it.

@78, scratch Hill Harper and replace him with Powder Puff Moore? smh. That’s like the HEAT trading Shaq for Yao Ming. Not a power move.

I do remember him playing a gay man in that movie and that’s exactly why I think this issue of him blurting out the word is somewhat staged. Isiah is a trained actor and has been in the business far too long for this type of simpleton BS. This makes me wonder if there isn’t more to the story.

@82, why does it look like you’re beating off in your avatar? Not trying to clown. I’m just saying…

Awwwh that was soooo sweet of him to apologize. I wonder which apology J.R.K. should accept the first one or this one? It reminds me of the apology that Krammer gave over and over, he was just as ashamed for using the n word and you could tell he was just as sincere. This is a fine example of a moral having black role model. He’s even going to counseling to figure out why he said what he said. I am just happy he isn’t going because his job is on the line and it was either counseling or being canned. Isaiah, with your belief system, morals, and values, I think you should quit the show and run for president.

JUDAH

@84

Right, phobias are supposed to denote fear. So hypothetically, if you’re against homosexuality, you’re supposed to fear them or their condition, lol. It’s a weak mindgame that weak people attempt to use to get strong people to succumb to that shit. It’s ironic how close-minded these open-minded people are supposed to be. It’s alright to accept that lifestyle but they’ll try to castigate the people who are against it, even if you’re not violently against them. That’s how you know it’s an agenda and they’re aiming it at the children. Isaiah Washington is a casualty of not peeping the game because black people (especially black men) who see this situation clearly must move with prudence. Unfortunately some black women are friendly or apathetic with homosexuals and they buy into the whole homosexual movement. Now you have so many weak black men that, just to appease those type of women, they’ll claim that they have no problem with homosexuality because they’re “secure” or “not homophobic”. Whatever man.

THE COMMENTS ON THIS PAGE R RIDICULOUS!!

1) how can anyone say that “this is over with”? it’s not and the reason why it’s not is b/c he said it again after all those months. HE opened the wounds, not the media. i had already forgotten about it but he had to OPEN HIS MOUTH again at an AWARDS show for crying out loud. he’s stupid

2) so what if gays call themselves the word. we (not me, but a lot of blacks i know) call ourselves nigger ALL THE TIME but that doesn’t mean the word is okay. and fyi NIGGA and NIGGER r the SAME. spellings don’t mean anything and deep down you all know it because you still wouldn’t let a white person say nigga

3) the reason why KRAMER didn’t have to go to counseling is b/c he was ALREADY SEEING A PSYCHIATRIST. can’t you see he already had problems b4 the outburst. he was seeing a psychiatrist b/c he was depressed. after the outburst. he was still seeing the psychiatrist and he also met with members of the black community so it’s not like he didn’t do anything. IW obviously needs therapy b/c he’s flushing his career down the toilet. and something everyone forgot is that he actually started a physical fight with patrick dempsey when he said the word. he TOOK HIM BY THE THROAT. that alone shows that he needs help. therapy would be a good thing for him

4) i don’t think the word faggot is exactly like the word nigger b/c nigger comes from hundreds of years of slavery and years of the white peple taking black land. however faggot is still a very bad word and should not be said. i do thnk there are similarities between racism and homophobia just like there are similarities between antisemitism and them. it’s HATE either way

AND I JUST WANT TO END BY SAYING THAT IT”S SAD THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ON THIS POST R SO READY TO SAY THAT THE ISSUE IS OVER WITH THEY KNOW DAMN WELL THAT IF IT HAD BEEN PATRICK DEMPSEY CALLING IW A NIGGER, THEY WOULD WANT HIM KICKED OFF IN A SECOND. WE NEED TO STOP BEING SO FREAKIN’ PREJUDICED B/C IT KEEPS BLACK MEN ON THE DL AND NEGATIVELY AFFECTS BLACK WOMEN WHO DON’T KNOW THEIR MEN ARE SLEEPING WITH OTHER MEN

OK after sorting it all out…..
I think the above poster is correct. He did say to Patrick Dempsey “I’m not your little faggot” or whatever. So when he denied calling TR a faggot, he was correct. He did not say that word to his face. However the word and the reference was said and it was inappopriate regardless of where you stand on the gay issue, because he said it in the WORKPLACE. Anybody on here try saying that shit with witnesses present in an argument. Isiah is lucky he’s on a TV show and can use the notoriety to his advantage by helping out the gay rights movement. We wouldn’t be so lucky.
Also, Katherine Heigl never said that he didn’t say the word in the first place. She did say he needs not to talk in public and that TR is her best right. And also, the cast of Grey’s was asked by a reporter about the incident, and Shonda at first said “Are you serious” to whatever question was asked (you can’t hear the reporter) and then started to respond and Isaiah stepped forward and said the f-word again. His coworkers body language behind him is classic. It’s all documented on youtube.

Once again the concreteloop fanatics are missing the point. Who cares if a white person had said anything whether or not they’d be in hot water. Isiah is not white, and has been around long enough to know that you do not bite the hand that feeds you. Perhaps he is unaware of just how many gay men control Hollywood. I say, if they serve his head on the chopping block, it will be his fault and his alone.

another thing at play here….you can’t hurl slurs at co-workers and not get dealt with. I ask any of you to call a co-worker out their name and bring light to it….see what happens to your ass at work.

I do not in a million years condone what Isaiah said, or that he lied about it in front of everybody and in such poor taste. However I do think this Rehab thing is ridiculous…I feel that it has everything to do with slavery. Michael Richards using and abusing a racial epithet the way he did made a few apologies and now we as black people are s’posed to be okay with just that, no one is talking about him anymore and it did’nt affect the sales of the new seinfeld dvd that came out that same week that he did it. After the Golden globes debacle that weeks Grey’s anatomy episode brought in 23 million viewers to ABC, 1 million MORE than the previous week, but yet the media, ABC, everyone is not letting this go, after the man has apoologized publicly and to GLAAD leaders etc. Why then does he have to go to rehab? give me a fucking break that really upsets me, it’s all about control, it’s about discipling the black man who got out of line, they want him to grovel, they want him to understand that without their show he is nothing. The whole thing is sick. Shonda Rhimes as a black woman should tell the ABC execs who are obviously controlling her that enough is enough, he’s made all the neccessary steps and it’s time to move on, not parade him around like some little boy who misbehaved and is now on punishment. They’ve brainwashed even Isaiah at this point beacuse he’s going along with this public slaughtering he’s receiving cause right now he’s living in a place of fear. This shit has to end.

“i’ve met people who say that gay rights and civil rights are completely different, but no they’re really not”

Oh, yes the hell they are!! Give me a freakin break! The struggles of our ancestors who did not CHOOSE to be black, getting hit upside the head with rocks, getting lynched, being ill-treated has NOTHING to do with gay rights issues! Don’t get it twisted! Black people had to fight for HUMAN rights, EQUAL rights that we should have had because we are children of God too.

What rights are gay people fighting for exactly? As far as I can tell, you ALL have HUMAN rights. You can eat where you want to eat, go to school where you want to go to school, live where you want to live, so what damn rights are ya’ll constantly talking about? Or is that you want the RIGHT to infringe your damn beliefs off on the rest of us and make us accept it? Well, wouldn’t that interfere with our rights?

My point is, get your shit straight (no pun intended). If you want to be gay or be whatever, do it. But stop being so damn ooberly sensitive about everything and trying to play on the sympathies of people by comparing your “situations” to something so far and above anything that you all are going thru, such as comparing your “struggles” to that of African-American’s struggles. PRACTICE WHAT U PREACH

I wasn’t there you can probably google it, but what Isaiah was supposed to have said was, “I’m not your little faggot like T.R.” when the story first broke the article said, “I’m not your little faggot like “name deleted”. That was the first time he used the word and apologized. After he said the word faggot a second time and then denied it at the GG awards T.R.K. was upset and came forth and gave the media his name. So it’s not as if T.R.K. had came out bitching and whining about being called a faggot, we would’ve never known his name if Isaiah hadn’t used the word faggot a second time and denied he called him a faggot in the first place..

There is nothing wrong with being against homosexuality, if he feels it is wrong he is entitled to feel that way but using derogatory slurs towards anyone in my opinion is childish and uncalled for. I would think that Isaiah has been in the industry long enough to know that you are going to have to work with all types of different people. He doesn’t have to agree with the lifestyles of everyone he works with. But if he hasn’t learned by now how to tolerate indifferences at work, especially in his profession, he is in a sad state. I am not for homosexuality and that was the way I was taught but what’s so hard about coming to work, doing your job and keeping your personal beliefs to yourself? Is he that simple minded? It’s not that damn hard to do. No matter what he feels about homosexuality in the industry he is in, he is going to have to accept the fact that he is going to have to work with homosexuals while filming on the show and any other movie he makes. Either he should learn how to tolerate not condone it and keep his mouth shut, if he wants a job or find another profession.

I don’t think he should have to go to counseling for what he truly believes in his heart is wrong, and I don’t think empathy can be taught so he should just learn what he should have already learned at the age of 5 and that is there is a time and place to say certain things. I know its freedom of speech but would you go cursing in church? No, you wouldn’t you’d save that for another time and place. So did he have the right to say it? According to freedom of speech; yes. Should he have said it at that time and place? IMO no.

That shows you that the white man can make anybody a sex symbol that he wants. All he has to do is say that someone is sexy and everyone buys into it. It’s not the quality of the product, it’s how it’s packaged. It’s funny how Dempsey swooped in and injected himself into the confrontation as soon as it happened. He must’ve always had some repressed anger against Isaiah his damn self. Thankfully for Isaiah, he had the restraint to just choke his ass up and not whoop on him like he could have. Yes that is the same incident, he did snatch up PD, that’s why T.R.K. didn’t understand why his name was brought into their fight in the first place. But, in all honesty for IW to have said, “I’m not your little faggot, like T.R.” sounds like PD must have said something out of line or demeaning. Notice how PD never said anything to the media about the incident were IW put his hands on him. So either they (ABC) wanted to push it under the rug, they really had settled the disagreement amgonst themselves or PD said something really out of line, that he didn’t want his fans to hear about.

#105-no you idiot, i’m not fully enfranchised. i can’t be affectionate with whomever i want in my own black community because i’m afraid of being physically attacked by other black people. i can’t provide for when i have a partner and kids the same way as straight people because there are about 1,000 rights and benefits that come with marriage. i have people, especially black men, questioning and threatening me because of my sexuality. i am discriminated against in the job market, not only because i’m a black woman, but also because i’m a lesbian. hate crimes, rapes, suicide rates are exceptionally high among homosexuals. about 40% of street youth are gay, and that statistic includes black kids. they most likely aren’t on the street of their own accord, they were probably violently kicked out, like i was when i came out to my family. i can’t tolerate people like yourself that act as though all gay people are white and that homosexuality is something from the suburbs.

i’m black and i’ve grown up with the same african-american culture as everyone else, in a black neighborhood. i love black people, but we need to let the homophobia go because it’s eventually going to destroy us. there are black men (and women, too) choosing to act as if they are straight, with wives, girlfriends, and children sneaking around with other men because they’re afraid to come out to their own families and communities. i think hypermasculinity and bible thumping run rampant in our communities too. anything that preaches intolerance and ignorance is bad for us and that goes for fucked up preachers and the lunkheads who have to prove their masculinity by discriminating against others who don’t measure up to it. i think civil rights and gays rights are similar because discrimination against blacks and gays have followed similar paths in this country. and to address your statement about discrimination, what about gay black people? don’t you think they were discriminated against back in the day? that they weren’t intimidated, subjugated, and lynched same as other black people? maybe not only because of the color of their skin, but because of their sexuality as well? have you EVER thought about that? do you even care? probably not. i have, because the legacy of black history and gay history belong to me. and to correct your idiotic statment about choice, nobody CHOOSES to be gay, not in this world. you have to realize when you engage in homophobic behavior or lobby against gay rights you’re hurting people in your community, too. do you get it?

i was going to write something again, then i realized that there was no point b/c there is just too much ignorance on this page. most of you really don’t know the difference between your opinion and general etiquette and are highly hypocritical as well. this is why the black community will never be fully accepted. we have enough prejudice against us yet we still spread even more prejudice and stereotypes against other groups (gays, muslims, asiana). we even do it to ourselves (jamaicans vs. haitians, light vs. dark). it’s pretty sad and it upsets me when i have white ppl comment to me on this but there’s nothing i can do to change such backwards thinking.

and this whole talk about whether the term “homophobia” means something is really stupid. some of you are taking the word literally and it shouldn’t be taken literally. it makes me wonder if you even went to school and if so how far. the fear is in the subconscious. people never like what is different from them because they are afraid of it. why do you think that white people put blacks down. it was fear and they masked their fears by creating stereotypes which is what we do to gays. and btw you don’t have to have heart palpitations to be homophobic.

now i’m officially done with this ignorant nonsense. i’m too open-minded for this

You think that the world must stop, drop and roll and get on board with your issues and take up your cause but it ain’t happening here.

No disrespect to you, I’m sure you’re a lovely person, but here’s a bit of advice for ya: You’re a human being, no one can deny you THAT right. Whether we all think it’s right or wrong, what you do in the privacy of your own home is your business and ultimately between you and God. So, live your life as a HUMAN being and stop labeling your own damn self. Try fighting for HUMAN rights, not just gay rights.

Peace

Oh…and one more thing, was calling me an idiot really called for? Really. Think about it.

@ 105 Quiche-A, im wit u on that!!!!!

Quiche wrote below, i think this has to be said again. Well put Quiche!!!

“#12 Sloane said:

This shit irks the hell out of me!”

@judah- you’ve made it quite clear that you don’t understand ANYTHING, so don’t patronize me. i also want to inform you that i’m not frustrated about being gay, in fact i’m proud of it, i’m frustrated by the discrimination i face from idiots like you. i’m black and lesban, and you have absolutely NO IDEA what i go through and you no right to make light of my experiences. i mean who the fuck do you think you are? just where did you hear about gays getting burned at the stake or stoned by other blacks, in antiquity or slavery? what kind of fabricated history book did find that in? LOL, obviously it’s located in some dimension your diseased mind created. it’s apparent you don’t know much about history because have you ever heard female husbands and male daughters? these are gender idenities created by the ibo of nigeria, for people who didn’t fit the straight mold. they became obsolete with colonialism. homosexuality has been part and parcel of every civilazation and race from the beginning of time. it was when colonialism and christianity mutated people’s cultures that homosexuality became a sin. you talk about Truth worshipping caucausians, you idiot, you don’t even know that you’re espousing the same bullshit they used to destroy and subjugate africans and african-american slaves. YOU, OF ALL PEOPLE, ARE LOOKING AT HISTORY FROM THE PRISM OF EUROPEAN CHRISTIAN CULTURE and have THE BITCH NERVE to questionin other people’s blackness. i mean i thought thought you were an idiot before but i can see now that there is no reasoning with a feeble minded person such as yourself. and i just want to let you know, that eventually things will improve for gays, so this won’t be the best “we” have had it. get used to us.

um quiche i’m going to have to say that it was necessary to call you an idiot, because you don’t get the part where i said that i was black, too. and that i experience the SAME racism that you do. that the history of lynching, discrimination, and sitting on the back of the bus belong to and matter to me. so do gay history because i am gay as well. do you get it. and i’m not fishing for pity, i’m trying to appeal to people’s sense of compassion i.e. how would you feel if it was you. there is nothing more important to me than civil rights for all human beings, but obviously i’m going to speak about what personally effects me, like so eloquently did when said civil rights completely supercede gay rights. i was also trying to inform you that they are not mutually exclusive because hey, there are people like myself who are black and gay. if anybody has the right to compare the two, its me, because you have no idea what i experience as a gay person, and a white person would have no idea what i experience as a black person. i’m not expecting you or anybody else to go to the next gay pride parade but i would like people like yourself to think twice about what they say in reference to gay people, and where it is coming from. like your blanket and discriminatory comment about gays not being able to look past their own issues.

YOU KNOW WHAT… at first i was with everybody else thinking get over it blah blah blah…. but then i read alot of these hatefull comments.. I dont know many gay people or so i think…but the fact of the matter is alot of the poeple on this page are using stereotypes, fear, ingorance, and an unwillingness to understand where someone is coming from… i never really thought of the word faggot as being something similar to nigger…but now that i look at what people are saying yes it is… it doesnt matter how long the word has been used…its the hate in which its used..you use the word faggot with disdain…as i read this post i relived what happend what happend with KKKramer… because a lot of you guys sound just like the white people on the other blogs that sided with KKKramer and there was a lot of them… the fear needs to stop..but i do think rehab is accesive

You damn right my mind is “diseased”. I’m CRAAAZY…DURRAANNGED, lmao. Sis, you’re right, I don’t know what you go through as a lesbian and I honestly don’t care to know. I can feel the pain and emotion in your response and once again, it doesn’t affect me in the least. That’s how I know that negroes like you that regurgitate the white man’s false version of history and yet speak “against” him concerning his “European Christian culture”, lol, really lean on him for sustenance and “enlightenment”. The “fabricated book” that I found that in is the Bible, lol (Lev 20:13). Let me guess….that’s the “white man’s book”, right ignorant negro. The white man lied to us but you believe the white man when he tells you that it’s ok to be a lesbian right.

First off, for every tribe in Africa there are different cultural practices, even within the tribes. “Female husbands and male daughters”, LMFAO. I’ll take your word for that one. That practice seems almost as confused and stupid as you. I’ve had conversations/debates with a Nigerian from the “Ibo” or Igbo tribe, since you brought it up, and he tried to prove to me that portions of their tribe kept rites and practices akin to the Israelites of the Bible. There are African tribes that eat their own feces, have sex with antelopes, don’t bathe, and scarify their faces. What is your point? Should we do that? So because I’m against homos and lesbians I’m not as “open-minded” as you? Lol, nigga please. Not to boast or brag but you could know the culture of every tribe in Africa and you still couldn’t fuck with me because I deal with the scriptures. Shit, you couldn’t fuck with me in just general history. Believe it or not, the black people brought over here on slave ships are not the descendants of indigenous Africans or as the Bible calls them, “hamites”.

See the white man knows that his rulership is winding down and that’s why he’s running all over the earth trying to cause confusion and death (homosexual movement, wars all over the world, etc.). You can feel that these are the last days because everything has an aura of redundancy and choreography. That’s why he’s trying to empower the homosexuals and lesbians because he knows that it will cause anarchy and more confusion. Ya’ll are pawns, simple as that. The same faggots and lesbians that “just want to be left alone” are the same ones that have no problem with the Muslims getting their culture and history systematically destroyed because their Islamic practices are against homosexuality and lesbianism.

Lastly sis, just the fact that you said “get used to us” shows that you and your ilk have a confrontational mentality, which is good because I love confrontation. You’re going to force your ways on certain people to the point where you’re going to have to be dealt with.

SLOANE,

I THINK THAT WHEN YOU TRY TO APPEAL TO PEOPLE’S COMPASSION, YOUR SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE.

WHY?

BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY NEED ALL OF THAT “APPEALING”, PROBABLY DONT HAVE COMPASSION, SYMPATHY OR HEART ANYWAY.

WE HAVE A CONSCIENCE AND IF YOU ARE NOT GOVERENED BY YOUR CONSCIENCE, YOUR DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO BE GOVERENED BY SOMEONE ELSE’S.

PEOPLE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW TO TREAT ALL HUMAN BEINGS, GAY OR STRAIGHT, WHITE, BLACK, OR ASIAN WITH COMMON DECENCY, LOVE AND RESPECT.

IF THEY DONT KNOW THAT AND THEY ARE OVER 15, IT AINT REALLY TOO MUCH YOU CAN DO FOR THEM.

GOD HAS TO CHANGE THEM.

YOU WILL LIVE YOUR LIFE UNFILFILLED TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEY SHOULD ACCEPT YOU AND YOUR LIFESTYLE.

LEAVE JUDGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE TO GOD-

NO MAN CAN EVER JUDGE YOU.

IF THEY DONT RESPECT YOU GAY, THEY PROBABLY WONT ACCEPT OR RESPECT YOU STRAIGHT.

THEY WOULD CHOSE ANOTHER REASON WHY YOU WERE A SINNER AND WAS GOING TO HELL.

I KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE DISSED, DISREPSECTED, PRE JUDGED AND CONDEMNED.

DONT TAKE THE “WOE IS ME” ATTITUDE BC JESUS WAS DISSED AND KILLED AND ALL HE CAME TO DO WAS HELP OTHERS.

THIS IS AMERICA

IT HAPPENS

PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE- STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE OTHERS OF YOUR PLIGHT IN ATTEMPTS TO GET THEM TO ACCEPT YOU.

DONT HAVE THOSE INTENTIONS BC TRUE ACCEPTANCE IS AN IDEA THAT YOU CANNOT PROVE OR EXPRESS THROUGH WORDS ANYWAY.

SOME PEOPLE SAY THEY LOVE YOU AND LIKE YOU BUT THEY DONT.

I HAVE BASIC HUMAN COMPASSION, SO A PERSON’S SEXUAL ORIENTATION WOULD NOT PREVENT ME FROM EXTENDING LOVE, REPSECT AND ACCEPTANCE TO ANY PERSON.

MAKING A DEAL OVER YOUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION AND THEN TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO ACCEPT YOU IS SENSELESS BC
IN THESE DAYS AND TIMES, VERY FEW ARE WORTHY OF JUDGING ANOTHER HUMAN.

ON TOP OF THAT, YOUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION IS YOUR CHOICE. YOU CAN JUST AS WELL CHOOSE, IF YOU PLEASED, TO BE STRAIGHT. NO BODY COULD STOP YOU AND WITH THAT BEING THE CASE, IT’S DEFINATLY A CHOICE.

YOU CAN BE BORN STRAIGHT BUT REMAIN RECLUSIVE AND AVOID ALL SEXUAL CONTACT.

THE TWO ARE NOT TO BE EQUATED.

AND YES, I LOVE ALL PEOPLE BUT…
DO I WANT MY CHILDREN READING BOOKS IN 1 ST GRADE ABOUT LESBIANS AND GAYS?

NO

BUT THEN AGAIN, I’M CHOSING TO HOMESCHOOL MY CHILDREN WHEN AND IF I HAVE THEM.

BUT THAT’S MY CHOICE AND THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT I HATE HOMOSEXUALS BECAUSE I DONT, OR AT LEAST I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT I HATE NO MAN.

YOU SOUND INTELLIGENT, SLOANE BUT YOU MIGHT WANNA RE EVALUATE WHY YOU SEEK OTHERS TO ACCEPT YOUR HOMOSEXUALITY.

TRUE ACCEPTANCE, LOVE AND RESPECT IS UNCONDITIONAL.

IF A PERSON CANT ACCEPT YOU OR RESPECT YOU GAY, LIKE I SAID, THEY WILL NOT IF YOUR STRAIGHT.

IW SHOULD HAVE KNOWN TO KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT ABOUT GAYS OR ANYBODY FOR THAT MATTER.

NOW, HE GETS IT.

Its sad that we have people downing him because he called someone a name besides their own. It seems many of us have forgotten that old nursery rhyme and it goes a lil’ something like this..”sticks and stones may break my bones **BUT** words will never KILL me!! Isaiah, Dr. Burke, My Dark Skinned Romeo, keep up the good work, and tell the therapist you’ve had a change of heart. The court is dismissed.

I have never even seen the show. So I’m not hating when I say I think he is a punk ass coward. Someone on here said that fags should get some balls, the same should apply to his weak ass, he should grow some balls and man up to what his punk ass said. He is probably only mad because the other guy came out of the closet while he is on the dl, trying to hide what 90 percent of people can see that the only difference between him and the guy he talked about is he got a wife. Ole’ feminine acting ass. And for the guy he called a faggot he does need to get over it, only because Isiah is in the same boat as he is only with a woman too. I’m laughing at some of the people here trying to once again hide their hatred with intelligence. To accept a person’s sexual preference doesn’t mean you have to practice or conform to their lifestyle, just as the definition of being a (straight) man/woman include hating things unexplainable by logistics, science or Religion.

Acceptance is often misrepresented as a means of demoralization or a “plot” against the fabric of humanity. If that doesn’t work, the next logical move is define it as means of social segregation, which oddly is the racists p.o.v.

A true man/woman wouldn’t feel the need to try to dehumanize another simply cause someone does something that out of their comfort zone, but take solace that what others think of them doesn’t define who they are or is a direct reflection of their image.

Bottom line is that LIFE itself is a mystery and the answers aren’t always written in text. Take your noses out of the books for a minute and BREATHE. Knowing is good, but too much of a good thing is sometimes detrimental when using it to define the unexplainable.

I’m surprised at how many people are comparing Michael Richards Situation to this one, how are they the same?

Michael Richards didn’t go to counselling cause there wasn’t a job for the dude to lose. How damn deluded y’all got to be to think he could have done that during the height of Seinfeld’s success and walk onto the set Monday morning without having to do some serious damage control.

Man if some of y’all were dumb enough to hit someone with a racial or anti-gay slur in your workplace wouldn’t you expect to be fired? Ain’t no different for these dudes except for the additional public outrage.

What cuts me about this, as a Dr Burke fan, is Washington is a straight up fool. Why would you say that at the Golden Globes, you didn’t think it might offend anyone especially in the Entertainment Industry and then you didn’t think at least one of your cast mates might call you out, when you lied claiming you didn’t say it?

Lets be real here, he isn’t in trouble cause he’s black (well I hope not). Dude’s in trouble cause he’s on one of the biggest shows in the US and still doesn’t know how to conduct himself in the public eye.

you know what louise? i feel like the only way to get people past their prejudices is to expose them to what they’re afraid of (and yes i’m referring to you judah, fake-ass intellectual bible-thumper.). most of the time of people realize there is a common link between themselves and the people they feel apprehension about, hopefully they can let go of their preconceived notions and hatred, and move on. by openly saying that i’m black and gay should at the very least make the people here aware that there isn’t a complete chasm between the two. they can exist in the same place. >>> me

i don’t care about anybody’s judgement, because nobody has the right to judge me. i’ll reiterate i don’t want anyone’s pity, and i don’t appreciate your implication that i am taking on a “woe as me” attitude. i want to inspire compassion, because people are capable of having it for anyone, i don’t care where you come from or what you think you know, unless you’re a sociopath. i’m not even looking for acceptance. i would like tolerance and basic respect of my choice to be who i am. i’d like any relationship i have to be fully recognized and protected under law, the same as any other tax-paying law-abiding citizen.

i’m am not seeking fulfillment from anybody else for anything, period. i am proud of who i am. the idea that i would be validated by strangers accepting me and my sexuality is ludicrous.so please scrap that idea. if people, like can’t at least glean a modicum of understanding from anything i’ve said that’s their problem not mine. because bottom line, i’ve expressed my opinion and my unique viewpoint, and that is satisfying enough. btw, you are free to feel however you want about homosexuals, but understand this, being gay is not a choice. the real choice is between being true to yourself or pretending to be something you are not. to continue insisting that it’s purely a choice in this day and age is just ignorant.
