I heard she laugh when she got a Grammy nomination for best contemporary R&B album. “Kelis was here” is NOT R&B. “Bossy” and “What’s that right there” are like the only ‘R&B’ songs on that record.

Damn I mean I know this mag says 10 year aniversary, but these pictures look like they were shot 10 years ago. I like Kelis and all, but I’m not feeling this one..just my humble opinion.
I agree with #40…Kelis isnt a natural beauty, sometimes she just doesnt look that great in pics…I mean she’s pretty but if she was a average chick on the street doing average things, she wouldnt be all that…she really needs the hair makeup and clothes.
but of course she isnt average…she is very creative and edgy….I’m not a big fan of her music…but she’s mad cool and gets props for her style.
I feel as though these pics are not recent. I am not going to bother to verify that info either (perhaps December issue or launch event). Kelis is interesting- I have been getting down with her since way back when she had pink hair (I hate you and you and you so much right now). While I respect her as an artist and creative contemporary, I am not quite certain when people collectively decided she should be dubbed a style authority. I am also not sure she is totally deserving of that title.
We are all allotted a certain amount of mistakes when it comes to our personal style- especially as we (r)evolve and try new things. Alas, Kelis has had more than her share of mistakes. I also have just seen her looking an absolute M-E-S-S. The jury is still out on this one.

She’s original, her music is well written (when she’s with the Neptunes) and all her albums have been good.
And you really cannot hate on her at all, cause she hasn’t sold that many records and no one is really going crazy over her, Kelis still does her thing and gets respect from people who like originality and good music that isn’t nothing but the same ol’ sh!t on the radio.
Why is it that this woman can get 50 magazine covers and interviews, yet not sell any damn records?
I mean love Kelis…but her best thing she’s done was her Edge commercial…not her CD….
