Would we still buy their music? Would we respect them any less as HUMAN BEINGS? Why are Black folks SO obsessed with people’s sexuality? Why is being a Black gay man SO taboo? Why do Black folks call people “homos” with such nastiness and disgust attached, as if we gay people should be ashamed of who and what we are or something or should break down and cry if we’re called a homo, when that’s what we are?

The fact of the matter is EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US has a gay family member (or three!), whether we know that they’re gay or not. If the truth came out about them, would we love our family member(s) any less? Would we alienate them, talk about them with such disgust and disdain?

Gay people are here to stay y’all. We ain’t going nowhere and we are positive contributors to society. We have families, loved ones, children, friends, colleagues, just like straight folks. The only thing we DON’T have is equal rights under the law! We as Black people should be able to empathise with that. Point is gays are people too and I hope the homophobia, the hatred, one day soon comes to an end.
