Serena Williams won her first title in two years when she defeated No. 1 ranked player in women’s tennis, Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2 to win the Australian Open today.
Sharapova was run down by the Williams’ power and aggression, punctuated by fist pumps and glares.
Serena told Yahoo News that she was inspired by the memory of her sister, Yetunde Price, who was killed in 2003.
Usually I write, Look at the ball, move forward, do this, do that. Today I just had one word. My note was just Yetunde. Every changeover I looked at it and I just thought about how happy she would have been … about what an amazing sister she was to me. I just said, ‘Serena, this has to be more than enough to motivate me.’ And I think it was.
Williams entered the Australian Open ranked No. 81 in the world. But as she exits the tournament her projected ranking is 14, which is a phenomenal achievement.

To those of you who don’t follow tennis, you should know that Maria Sharapova and her family are some of the most cockiest, snoodiest white russians in America!
Maria came to US tennis looking down her nose and rolling her eyes at Venus and Serena! When she wasn’t pumping her little deformed fist, she was running her mouth! The Williams didn’t take it from Martina Hingis and they’re not taking it from Maria!
This victory was more than just a another win for Serena, this was a humbling for the russians and everyone involved in the WTA!
Russians have gained full partnership and acceptance with white America! Now, they’re buying up property in black communities and Dodge Caravans like there’s no tomorrow!

To play 6 matches in 2 weeks is hard work. That must count for something. It is all about the end result. As much as I love Federer I wanted Gonzalez to win. Gonzo’s game has improved 1000%. I’m sure he feels satisfaction seeing that he beat the #2 player(Nadal) and Leyton Racist Hewitt and then Hass to get to the finals,but it would have been nice.
