THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW
Wednesday, January 10, 2007

I’ve been hearing about this song for some time, because it came on the radio here in Atlanta all the time. It finally leaked on the internet, first on Ciara’s official MySpace page. At first, I wasn’t sold on the remix, even though it’s produced by Polow Da Don, who I love. But after listening to it louder, I have a new found appreciation for the song. The track also features a singer from the group Cavi, who is signed to Shonuff. Check them out on MySpace. I’ve always said that a remix should proceed its original. At first I didn’t think this did, but I’ve since changed my mind.
Lloyd - My Valentine (full) - download
More music is leaking from Lloyd’s upcoming sophomore album, “Street Love.” I actually really dig this song, I think it’s because it gives me some sort of early ’90’s flavor. There has been some disputes on whether Lloyd is signed to Shonuff now, and let’s nip those in the bud: he’s not. He’s still signed to The Inc. (who knew they were still around?) but Shonuff has been showing him much love. I enjoyed Lloyd’s debut album, so hopefully “Street Love” delivers when it drops in March.
One Chance feat. Trey Songz, Bobby Valentino & Lloyd - Look At Her (Remix) (full) - download
I’m not sure when One Chance’s album is coming out, but this is a remix of their first single “Look At Her.” Upon recieving this song, I was thinking that it was going to be just a remix with the same production with added features. However, much like the “Get Up” remix, I am digging this a littloe more than the original. I’m trying to find some production credits for the song, because, although it’s just another snap beat, I like the production and arrangement.
Diddy feat. Keri Hilson - After Love (full) - download
One of my favorite songs from Diddy’s new album, I just wanted to post this because I’d featured Keri Hilson earlier in the “artists to look out for in ‘07.” Keri is all over the song, and I just love the way her voice floats over the track - I could do without Diddy. I love Keri’s writing style, and her voice goes so well with Danja’s production. I am expecting great things from Keri’s debut album!

I really like Keri on the song with Loyd Banks. This song with diddy is cool too. I still think the song with him and Brandy (minus diddy’s part) is the best on that album though.
Cici’s remix is cool.

Ciara needs to sit her ass down cause Get Up was a badly written and badly sung song to begin with. But Polow Da Don on the other hand and that singer in the background was sounded OH SO GOOD! Polow is so damn sexy.
Lloyd is just another piece of Atlanta made garbage.
One Chance is also just another piece of Atlanta garbage.
But…”After Love” is such a beautiful song and Diddy’s part is actually meaningful but he just has zero flow to back it up, but my girl Keri Hilson just takes control of it, she is Atlanta’s answer to Teedra Moses. So y’all who are ignoring it just cause DIDDY’s name is in it need to rethink cause this is a song to hear cause Keri is gonna be number 1 this year! AND SHE IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST THING FROM ATLANTA!!! (Ciara please “get up” out the way and make room for Keri).

Trey is workin on a new album (if you ain’t already know) called Trey Day, and he’s now on G-Unit records so he should get a lot more exposure this time around. And Bryan-Michael Cox and The Runners are some of the producers on it. He had a single called “Are You A Performa” and next one is gon be called “Wonder Woman.” Hope that helps a little.

Trey just collaborated with 50 Cent on a song or two (if you don’t get it yet: yes, i’ve seen the pics with Trey @ 50’s house…i’m explaining what those mean.) Trey’s STILL on Atlantic Records & his 2nd album coming out in March 2007 now, not this month. so if you don’t know, now you do…*shouts* it’s Songbook, baby! *runs out of post*

AFTER LOVE!!! WHOA! I never copped/downloaded P.Shitty’s “Press Play” for obivious reasons (damn he’s corny as hell) threfore was oblivious to the fact that my girl Keri was featured on it. I really love her voice! She is truly talented and just amazing. I simply CANNOT WAIT FOR HER DEBUT!!!!!!!!!
Polow da Don fine ass did his thang on that Cici remix. The beat was sensual and sexy! If he lays it down in the bed they way he produces, then I am in love for real.
I didn’t even entertain One Chance’s track. 16 year old boy bands *whateva, they young as hell* just aint my thing.

Yeah, I have to admit I like that Lloyd song although I can’t stand Lloyd or his nasaly voice and ESPECIALLY his NAME!!! I HATE THE NAME’s Lloyd and Floyd for some reason….I know, that is retarded but we are ALL a little special in the head about somethin’ LOL!!!
But I won’t listen to the song on purpose, only on accident when I accidentally here it on the radio when I am reloading my cd player in my car cuz I only listen to morning radio shows and THAT IS IT for me and the radio, probably won’t even listen to MYSELF on the radio when I finally drop?……
One chance…THey are my little myspace buddies, but this kind of R&B died about 15 years ago and what is the point of doin’ it if you will get no spins on the radio OR video channels? It costs WAY TO MUCH to record music that is not going to get promoted so you can make your make a profit!
Say what you want, but music IS a business, and business is there to make MO’ MONEY and this song and others of theirs will make NO MONEY poor little things lol!!
Good luck to them though, they ARE a bunch of cuties and I am sure the girls will find SOMETHING about them to give them at least 10 minutes of fame?!

Wednesday, January 10, 2007 /
Cici…just another sex song
LLoyd…When I initially heard the song I thought about Michael Jackson. A song off of his ‘Off The Wall’ album. I like it. I love his first single and video. I also like how he is showing love to our dark skinned nubian queens. Beauty comes in ALL shades: coffee with a lot of cream (myself); coffee with a little cream and coffee full strength with no cream at all lol.
Now that Lloyd is out Omarion can go somewhere and sit down. He seems so conceited to me. How tall is he anyway lol? And that girl in his Entourage video…um not cute.
Keri H….This is my second time hearing the song and I still don’t see what all the hype is about. I don’t think her voice stands out. I am interested in something fresh like Christee Michele, Corrine Rae (sorry if i spelled their names wrong).
Bobby V song…nothing special to me.

BLACK PEOPLE, PLEASE, READ & HEED. POIGNANT.
The sad thing about this article is that the essence of it is true. The
truth hurts. I just hope this sets more Black people in motion towards
making real progress. Chris Rock, a Black comedian, even joked that
Blacks don’t read.
Help prove them wrong! Read and pass on.
Please Note:
For those of you who heard it, this is the article Dee Lee was reading
this morning on a New York radio station. For those of you who didn’t
hear it, this is very deep. This is a heavy piece and a Caucasian wrote
it.
Dee Lee, CFP
Harvard Financial Educators
Dee Lee
THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES We can continue to reap profits from the
Blacks without the effort of physical slavery Look at the current
methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED,
and SELFISHNESS.
Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great man once
said, “The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in
a book.” We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the
opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of their
fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read. There are numerous books
readily available at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to
mention their own Black Bookstores that provide solid blueprints to
reach economic equality (which should have been their fight all along),
but few read consistently, if at all.
GREED is another powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the
abolition of slavery, have had large amounts of money at their disposal.
Last year they spent 10 billion dollars during Christmas, out of their
450 billion dollars in total yearly income (2.22%).
Any of us can use them as our target market, for any business venture
we care to dream up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into it.
Being primarily a consumer people, they function totally by greed. They
continually want more, with little thought for saving or investing.
They would rather buy some new sneaker than invest in starting a
business. Some even neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or FUBU, And
they still think that having a Mercedes, and a big house gives them
“Status” or that they have achieved their Dream.
They are fools! The vast majority of their people are still in poverty
because their greed holds them back from collectively making better
communities.
With the help of BET, and the rest of their black media that often
broadcasts destructive images into their own homes, we will continue to
see huge profits like those of Tommy and Nike. (Tommy Hilfiger has even
jeered them, saying he doesn’t want their money, and look at how the
fools spend more with him than ever before!). They’ll continue to show
off to each other while we build solid communities with the profits
from our businesses that we market to them.
SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the
major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their own, Dubois
said that there was an innate division in their culture. A “Talented
Tenth” he called it. He was correct in his deduction that there are
segments of their culture that has achieved some “form” of success.
However, that segment missed the fullness of his work. They didn’t read
that the “Talented Tenth” was then responsible to aid The Non-Talented
Ninety Percent in achieving a better life. Instead, that segment has
created another class, a Buppie class that looks down on their people
or aids them in a condescending manner. They will never achieve what we
have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together
on any project or endeavor of substance. When they do get together,
their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of their goal Their
so-called help organizations seem to only want to promote their name
without making any real change in their community.
They are content to sit in conferences and conventions in our hotels,
and talk about what they will do, while they award plaques to the best
speakers, not to the best doers. Is there no end to their selfishness?
They steadfastly refuse to see that TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM)
They do not understand that they are no better than each other because
of what they own, as a matter of fact, most of those Buppies are but
one or two pay checks away from poverty. All of which is under the
control of our pens in our offices and our rooms.
Yes, we will continue to contain them as long as they refuse to read,
continue to buy anything they want, and keep thinking they are “helping”
their communities by paying dues to organizations which do little other
than hold lavish conventions in our hotels. By the way, don’t worry
about any of them reading this letter, remember, ‘THEY DON’T READ!!!!
(Prove them wrong. Please pass this on! After Reading it..)

The “Get Up” (remix) was incontrovertibly good! It has such elegance, beauty, and tremendous vocals on it. Ciara definitely emanates some great, audible ad-libs nearing the end of the bridge, and chorus. And Polow sounds seductively smooth, as well as the new singer Cavi. This is so astounding, Ciara should consider turning it into an actual single, it’s not unheard of.

Im glad you posted that.
Ever heard of the Isis Papers?
I read that when i was in college. It talked about this same information about how the white man is fully aware that we dont read. They say if you dont want us to know about it, put it in a book.
It also had an excerpt in there discussing what the Spanish, British and Dutch men were writing in their books as they shipped us here from Africa.
They noticed how we were all different skin tones and they said that they would use that to control us and have us hate one another.
Its a shame that they’ve been able to make these statements and live by them for almost 400 years now.
