THIS YEAR’S FIRST NEW MUSIC REVIEW

Bobby Valentino – Let’s Go (full) – download
I heard this premiere on the radio once with Bobby Valentino on the air. I thought it was corny then, and I think it’s corny now. Actually, something to me about the whole Bobby Valentino package is kind of corny. The fact that the used an element from a call that you use at a ball game is just kind of… I don’t know. And not only that, I’m not really a huge fan of Don Vito’s productions. But you be the judge for yourself.

Chris Brown feat. O So Krispie – Poppin’ (full) – download
Random… I’m sorry, but who really thought that they’d let O So Krispie come out with something else after that song she did with TLC? I really thought her few minutes of fame were up. “Poppin’” is Chris Brown’s 5th single from his album – he made this album stretch, which is great. ANyway, this remix is pretty mediocre in comparison to the original version, which was produced by Dre & Vidal – this one is produced by GreatScott. The O So Krispie feature kind of throws it off for me a little.

Diddy feat. Keyshia Cole, Pharrell & T.I. – Last Night (full) – download
This is funny because this was one of my favorite songs from Diddy’s album. I thought that this was going to be an official remix. They took a lot of Diddy’s part off, it’s mostly Keyshia, Pharrell (with his verse from Robin Thicke’s “Wanna Love U Girl”) and T.I. (with his verse from Amerie’s “Touch” remix that came out a while ago). The verses they choose, however, pretty much go perfectly with the song. I will be knocking this.

Ashanti & 7 Aurelius – My Number, Babe (full) – download
I’m sorry, but I really dig this song. It just gives me so much Prince, and anyone who knows me knows that I’m a huge fan of Prince. But you can tell that 7 (who produced and is featured on the song) is trying really hard to give off the Prince vibe. It’s actually uncanny how much their voices are sounding alike, and it’s kind of scaring me a little bit. I am glad Ashanti is trying to take a new approach. Because she can’t re-enter the industry with what she used to be doing. I could definitely hear this in the club.

This is all a bunch of whack ass music (with the exception of Diddy’s “Last Night). Who are the people that actually buy this ish?

  2. hdizzle

Diddy song was wach too. Chris doensst have any fans over 17 years of age, Bobby valintino doesnt really have a fan base yet and ashanti new song is what was wrong with that era of music any way. I can imagine this being a hit in like gay discos other then that I dont see people rushign out to buy this.

    HDIZZLE

Do you know what episode he was on? I need to see this fool so I can show my momma cause she is in love wit him…

  4. Chris Brown’s “Poppin” is my guilty pleasure, I love that song but not the version with OH NO Krispie.

  5. kay kay

  8. kay kay

yeah that’s the song keyshia sang on her show remember she showed up late to diddy studio and he had her do it over and over

    it still sucks lmao

  9. hdizzle

Compton chick all I can say is you know those old episodes of american idol rewind they’ve been showing of all the first seasons audtions on the weekends. just whatch that and look out for the atlanta auditons. They didnt even show him singing they just showed him during a montage of people who didnt get picked, and simons coment to him.

legally scicne he is now a signed artist who didnt make it to hollywood I dotn think they can show his performance, that or they didnt think it was important enough.

  10. brownsugah305

I really don’t like that Ashanti song just because the 80′s comeback/prince vibe works for Ciara does not means that it will work for everyone…

  11. The Ashanti/7 song sounds aight..nothin to get hype about

That Diddy song w/ Keyshia Cole sounds like somebody’s ass smells like roasted pig shit…I know that sounds crazy but the song sounds stank

Bobby V is gonna have to come better than this compared to his first album…

  12. james

Chris has surprised me, because a lot of his songs i didnt like, until they became singles. I’m happy with this new Last Night Remix. It was my FAVORITE song off Press play, and now with less diddy it makes me happier! I cant stand mr. Valentino so i didnt even download it and Ashanti’s new song is very clubby. Im excited to be dancing to this.

  13. let's not blaze

51 YOU NEED A LIFE….YOU MUST BE A STAR LIVING IN THE HAMPTONS(MORE LIKE A RATE IN LOWER COMPTON…)

THESE ARTIST ARE GIVING THEIR BEST…IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT DON’T BUY IT…KEEP YOU MONEY FOR YOU DING DONGS AND COOKIES….

P.S YOU NEED TO STOP KEEPING THE COUCH WARM

  14. jen

    hmm…
not a very exciting start for TWO DOUBLE ‘O’ SEVEN!..i agree with #7 on the Ashanti point, funnily enough, it may just be my ear, but the beginning of the P.Diddy joint sounds slightly similar 2 the synthesizers in the Ashanti 1, which also as someone else said above is a really WACK song: Mos def like a fake Prince reject! But i can still see it doin things as the market is so fuccin saturated rite now with nonsense artists (a la cassie)…O krispie (or whateva her name is) sounds like a BROKE DOWN TRINA WANNA B lol

what happen to good music? No wonder JB was telling MJ to save music not long b4 he died…

  15. someone231

  17. Lady Lia

“Ashanti & 7- this song grew on me……….I love this song its so funky and I like 7’s other song with vanessa carlton that ish is so hot. this is different and out the box, even though it is a sampled beat I have not even heard anything like this; even tho brian says it has a prince influence. ”
    ———————————————-

You must be a hardcore fan of The Inc. or an employee because this song is far from out of the box – there are many songs out now that song similar to this. Not to mention, like others said, it’s very Prince influence.

  18. mack

@27 well that just goes to show you that you should never give up on your dreams, huh? look at all the artists that lost on “star search” that went on to become famous……aaliyah, destiny’s child.

  19. 2nice

#27 yeah I saw bobby audition for American idol too and he didnt even MAKE it to the Hollywood round they told him his talent didnt match his ambition………

  20. Compton_Chick23

    THANKS HDIZZLE!!

  21. LOUISE

    AGREE WITH #17!!!!!!!!!!

  22. dejaboo

someone pleez shoot that krispy kremes chick. pleez…. who in tha hell names themself krispy???

  23. Shasta MacNasty

I’m not liking the Ashanti song. At all. Not even a little bit. Actually, that’s not true, the only thing good about it is the sample. Other than that, not worth my earspace. In my opinion, there is nothing innovative or different about this song. As a matter of fact, it seems like the poor man’s “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado lyric-wise.

Anyway, I appreciate the effort Ashanti, but yer still kinda wack.

  24. DetroitHottChick

Im sooo disappointed in the new Bobby V song! WTF is he thinking??? and I like him too! :(

  25. DetroitHottChick

Oh and Ashanti’s song is kinda nice!!!! I like! 80′s like!! HAHA! Go Ashanti, she trying to re-invent herself!

  26. im just DEAD at this whole freakin post…Brian…wat it do my man?…these tracks r ri-damn-diculous.

  27. Boo at the remix of Diddy’s last night. i don’t wanna hear the rest of them fools added…sounds better with just Keyshia and Diddy

  28. & i love bobby v…
    not 2 much this song.
    u shouldve posted boyshorts…
    that song go hard :)

  29. f3malemack

    # 50, i dont like chris brown b/c he dont do it for the love of music, he do it for the girls(as he continuously quotes for like every interview he does) and true artists dont do it for that particular reason, as for him, thats his number one reason. i agree he is a good singer and all but he dont take it seriously. n i agree that some artists pretend they love their fans and the support and really dont…thats the reason why i bootleg lol

  30. Heavyn

The original Poppin is the better one and I love that song so much. And the rest im really not lovin.

  31. Compton_Chick23

    @91

Don’t let that fool Chris Brown stop you from buying albums, they’re are actually good R&B singers with good albums out.

  32. The Owner

“Let’s Go” is hot to me. It’s something different but I like it. Don Vito seems like he step his production game up to me.

  33. neesh

The original Poppin song is way better!

  34. SAY.IT.RIGHT!!

THAT ASHANT SONG WOULD B THA SHITT IF SUM1 ELSE WAZ SINGIN IT!!! USUALLY ITS THA BEAT THAT MAKES THA SONG, BUT IN MY OPINION, ANY1 BESIDES ASHANTI WOULD SOUND BETTER…..KNOW NE WHERE I CAN FIND THA INSTRUMENTALS??? LOL

  35. Jazz

i agree with #96..if anybody….hell even ciara….waz singin that ashanti song, it MIGHT have a chance..but idk, im kinda sick of tha whole “lets ride Princez jock” thing

that bobby v. song waz iight….deff. not original

tha chris brownz “new” songz remix would b better without tha girl, and that beat

tha diddy song iz straight too….all these artists need 2 step their game up

  36. Cj

Diddy comes up with sum good songz mmmmmmmm he knows how to make some money……lol

  37. shay

#96…The original song is all instrumental.

I luv the Ashanti song and it has already stuck in the heads of a lot of you who “hate” the song. I see a lot of you using ridiculous in your posts.

    Singing….

I’m in a class on my own and I can’t help it
I never give it away just came me selfish
You gotta work boy to touch a piece of this
I’m here to tell you boy MY SHIT’S RIDICULOUS!!

  38. F3MALEMACK

#93, WHO? CAUSE RNB BEEN KINDA ON THE BORDERLINE….

  39. So, uh, do I go against everyone on this post by sayin im FEELING the Bobby V track and i HATE that Ashanti track??? I hope so…

  40. Compton_Chick23

    @100

Ignore Chris Brown, Ciara, Ashanti and all them pop stars…

If you like a little hip hop with some R&B get…Mary J. Blige’s-The Breakthrough

If you like straight up solid R&B get…Anthony Hamilton-Ain’t Nobody Worryin’

If you like some really good R&B/Hip-Hop get Teedra Moses’-Complex Simplicity but its hard to find.

If you like soulful R&B, mixed with some weird stuff get Gnarls Barkley-St. Elsewhere

If you like straight up soulful R&B get Amel Larrieux-Morning

And if you just wanna know some good R&B albums that are kind of popular…
    Ne-Yo-In my own words
    Amy Winehouse-Back To Black
    Prince-3121
    Jaheim-Ghetto Classics
    Van Hunt-On The Jungle Floor
And even Christina Aguilera’s-Back To Basics album has some really good pop and R&B in it.

AND YES I KNOWS MY MUSIC THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

  41. devilicious
