VIDEO: PAPOOSE - ALPHABETICAL SLAUGHTER

Friday, January 5, 2007

Go ahead and check out Papoose’s new video for the song “Alphabetical Slaughter.” This song isn’t new to some of you mixtape heads, but it’s still dope as hell. Why? Because, Papoose uses all the letters of the alphabet while spitting.

His new album “The Nacirema Dream” is coming out later on this year; so you know you have to go out and support that. Make sure you view the video, because it has a surprise intro!

Alot of “rappers” in the industry today couldn’t do half of what he did, he is a real lyricist.

I’ve liked Papoose’s work since I heard his song, Menace To Society Part 2. Thanks Angel for posting…

Very creative. Now, that’s what the rap game has been missing: something original, designed to make you think, not just nod your head while scantily-clad women assault the screen. The video and the song: cool, needed creation.

I LIKE HOW HE SOUNDS, KINDA OF LIKE JAY-Z, BUT THIS VIDEO AND SONG IS DUMB. IT SOUNDS LIKE HE IS JUST GOING THROUGH A SLANG DICTIONARY.

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with scantily-clad women… But it is an impressive video most likely one of the most original/creative driven songs I have
seen in a decade!

I wasn’t impressed and it’s not that original. To the best of my knowledge Wu-Tang was doing it first. The whole intellectual use of adjectives/consonants back to back. The beat was wack and DJ Kay Slay is very annoying. I like some of his other work though.

I think that was tight. He’s doing something that’s diffrent from what everyone else is doing. We need more variety in rap music. But he needs to cut Kay Slay out. That guy is annoying as hell.

24.

TruthBTold

Friday, January 5, 2007 /

First: What is this guy talking about? I understood nothing but a bunch of dictionary words. But what is he talking ABOUT?

Second: @ #3, your “Truth” is not the truth, but rather a joke. Please read before you comment.

Third: @ Angel La, do your thing girl. I might not understand what Papoose was talking about, but I do appreciate you posting the video and trying to turn me onto something new. Do it, girl!

Friday, January 5, 2007 /

Very original concept. I appreciate the effort. The song sounded like it would be great but once I got to listening it was just dumb. He throws too many unrelated words and ideas out there. I say all this to say this alphabet stops at the letter C for me.

26.

Friday, January 5, 2007 /

First of all, “thuga-c-ation”???..I’m still trying to figure out why the world hasn’t ended yet…

The song is creative and he IS a real lyricist; those are most long words i have ever hear a rapper use in a single song…yeah, DJ Kay Slay does need to sit his old ass down…:|

27.

yeah…& after a while, the song get boring because it’s like alleration on crack, heroin, & crystal meth. :(

It was straight, it kind of reminds me of Dope Boy Magic by Young Joc (except Joc used numbers instead of letters). He gets a thumbs up from me :)

29.

Friday, January 5, 2007 /

Well I do give Papoose some props for at least trying to do something different because God knows there are very few rappers saying anything important these days, and he used a lot of alliteration in his rhymes, even though Wu Tang Clan did originate that trend. (I mean using alliteration in lyrics) BUT I still think Papoose is a good lyricist.
On the flip side, DJ Kay Slay is a JOKE!!! Fool sit your loud ass down!

30.

I like Papoose. He really is talented. That definately isn’t the easiest thing to do, because a lot of it made sense. And on other tracks, he shows his rap ability

Downfall: He doesn’t have any mainstream appeal and his flow is kinda fucked up. The most successful rappers have SOMETHING about them that makes people like them, other than thier talent…(JAY-Z), i don’t see that in him…yet.

And the best rappers tend to have the best flows [WEEZY, BIGGIE…), his flow is choppy alot of the time.

But i like him, he has time to grow. Big ups to Concreteloop. Artists are really feeling yall.

34.

A Dot is pissing on the world in '07

I’M DEFINITELY WITH # 33. His flow is choppy, but i mean if he says that up, he can do him. Get a swagger about him, again, GET A MUCH BETTER FLOW! i mean it all oveer the place. There’s no consistance. However, i can see him doing him!

This brother’s album is not going to sell. He’s not snapping his fingers or making dumb sound affects in the background. His lyrics have actual content so it’s not gonna get pushed like the “popular” stuff gets pushed.

Saturday, January 6, 2007 /

Yes #29, alliteration tends to happen when you list off words that start with the same letter (though props for remembering something from English class). If only half the comments were as descriptive… Anyways, this song is cute, but really, can’t anyone just list words from a dictionary? He could’ve used a verb or two or maybe even string together a sentence. Still, at least he’s trying…

Look you dumb muthafuckas!! I don’t even curse, but some of you people need an education. You people really got me heated with this thread. Beyond his intellectual use of adjectives and consonants back to back, he is a poet. Most of these rappers out there have little or nothing to say that has any real significance or relevance and most of them speak from cheap seats.

You people write about Young Jeezy and Lil’ Wayne with their ignorant fucking asses and care to judge carefully crafted females like Beyonce on what they have on or whether their hair is real, but fail to ever make any mentions of issues that are going on within our community…and then one of you typical DUMB bobblehead bitches has the nerve to comment on Papoose’s looks…

This is the problem with todays youth: our priorities are all fucked up!!! You glorify hip hop music, will argue that Pac and Biggie were the best rappers of all time, but are without any real knowledge of who either man was and what their purpose served us. You put material, looks, and wealth over everything. Most of you blame it on where you grew up or the fact that the minds of the youth have been enslaved for years but the truth is that hardly anyone will stand up for the truth or make any attempts to preserve the legacy of the people who fought for us.

I mention these things because we have hardly any real prophets or leaders in this generation. Don’t get it twisted, Jay Z is not a fucking prophet. He is an intelligent real black man who happened to become a business, and that was his purpose: God sent us Jay Z to teach us that we can go beyond the expectations of the white man who said that us project kids could never make it…But Papoose: God has sent us someone who serves the purpose of teaching us that life is a “monopoly” or in one of his most inspiring songs he states that even though most of us black woman may be trash to one man, we are meant and will be treasure to the next…he makes it a point to eradicate the idea that us “lost black woman” are without hope…

You take a routine rapper and compare him to Papoose and you will know what I am talking about. Papoose is one of the great leaders of this hip hop generation because he knows the streets but he is a MAN with a message. Sounds familiar??!! Yes, this brotha has the potential to be one of our greats…at one point there was Martin Luther, Malcom X, then there was Tupac, and now we have been blessed with Papoose.

No I am not a fan of ANYONE or a fucking groupie, I just speak real shit because I am a real black 20 year old woman from the streets-Harlem- who has been through the struggle. However, I am currently at a prestigious university, serving my own purpose. Real recognizes real!!!

Listen to “Election Day”, “Mixtape Murder”, “Menace to Society”, “A Threat and A Promise”, ” The Underground King”, in addition to the rest of the other mixtape albums I can’t remember the names of, before you make any comments about this man. In addition, check out a rapper by the name of Saigon, he is incredible as well.

No they are not perfect men, but like the greats of the past, they have what it takes to change the black community!!! We need to support these men, listen to their stories, ,and watch as they realize their own true potential. I don’t even think they know it yet!!

54.

Saturday, January 6, 2007 /

#50 - I agree. We live in a generation is that totally BRANDWASHED. They’d pay $20 to listen to Jay-Z read a phone book before they bootlegged a Papoose album.

Papoose may not be your cup of tea, but he is required because Hip Hop in general is in dire need of diversity. Rappers look and act like a bunch of clowns, and to question or do otherwise makes you a square or some other negative.

So you don’t have to like rappers like Mos Def, Common, Papoose and Canibus. But you at least have to respect them for being talented in what they do as Jeezy and Wayne are talented in what they do.

I think Jay has a few kids he hasn’t acknowleged? How old is this Papoose? If he is 22 yrs or younger……His mama should be hittin’ Mr Carter up for years of back child support lol!!!
