Kelis is amazing, she’s so original, too bad she has to do songs like Milkshake to get people’s attention because she is so much more than that. On any of her albums you can hear so may influences, r&b, hip hop, rock, pop, neo soul, reggae and even a little folk. And I personally love her voice it’s very mature, smokey ad soulful. But the US market just isn’t open minded enough to accept her because she ins’t a clone. And whoever brought up Whiney Houston is wrong for that, thats like comparing apples and oranges, they are two completly different things.
I am a true Kelis fan since “Kaleidescope” album days, As for this song I Love it, Kelis has come a long way vocally I must say , the blonde hair was a bit passe’ for me but she’s still a beautiful lady nonetheless, the coat was definently unique *da belt was quite complimenting* to the whole get up..Look forward to hearing more from her!!!

Maaann, the girl can BLOW, man…I want her to stop doing these bubblegum-n-sex songs and SING, man…her voice is off the chain, absolutely ridiculous, but she wastes it on shallow and limiting (although catchy) material. This song just REALLY convinced me that she could probably make people cry on account of her voice, if she just used it right, and on deeper material.
***(And no I don’t have her album(s), because I haven’t liked the airy sexual stuff that I’ve heard from her- so if she DOES do material that’s not flimsy, I wouldn’t know- all I know of is the primary image that she puts forth in mainstream media.)

I love Kelis-always underrated but never short on talent! She took a business risk by an album w/o the Neptunes by I think in the long run it will make her an success.

I totally agree, Kelis Was Here is a GREAT album and I think it didn’t sell because Bossy was the first single and everyone expected that lame ass milkshake/bossy shit from her. You HAVE to get this album, Til the Wheel Fall Off, Trilogy, Weekend, Like You, All Shit, all of those damned songs are phenomenal. Get it!

On Wikipedia she sold only 136,000 albums. Thats bad. Her album was still one of my favorites. Her record label is not promoting her like they should. I was so happy that she made a video for this song cause it is one of the best songs on Kelis Was Here.

The more I listen to this song the more I like…Cee-lo really made it fly with the hook. I used to go to school with Kalis…she was cool bakc then…she never really liked school much..she was a model before she became a singer and was a drama major at ouor school…i told her in the stairwell one time at schol that she looked like a star and would do great tings…I’m happy that it came true…

i didnt think that lil star would be the next single off the album, which i love…when i was watching the video it gave me chills…i havent listen to that cd in a while, i think i’ll start back up though.

I never expected for this to be the next single off Kelis album. But it was a good choice I guess, the song is cute and has a good message. I like the album, and I like “Circus”..I’ll prolly get clowned but for some that was one of my favorites when I first listened to the CD. Kelis non-rappin self..lol. Keep doin your thing girl.
