BARACK OBAMA DECLARES HIS ’08 RUN FOR PRESIDENCY

bobama.jpg
Barack Obama announced his bid for president Saturday, a black man evoking Abraham Lincoln’s ability to unite a nation and a Democrat portraying himself as a fresh face capable of leading a new generation.

“Let us transform this nation,” he told thousands shivering in the cold at the campaign’s kickoff.

Obama, 45, is the youngest candidate in the Democrats’ 2008 primary field dominated by front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and filled with more experienced lawmakers. In an address from the state capital where he began his elective career 10 years ago, the first-term U.S. senator sought to distinguish himself as a staunch opponent of the Iraq war and a White House hopeful whose lack of political experience is an asset.

You is a damn fool if you wanna vote another republican into office so we can stay another 4 years in Iraq. You need to change your strategy and stay away from Giuliani. Who cares what he’s done for New York he’s done nothing for America and he’ll end up being George W. Bush Part II!

the president is only the face of the government. the real decisions happen behind the scenes. if b.o. wins the presidency it will be great for him and his family. i have never seen a poor president, in fact the job seems to enhance their wealth. anyway, i really hope people are not looking to him as some sort of black savior. this country is ruled and run by white men (which is a shame) and they will never give up their power. can black people really come together and make a change in this world? our communites are severley lacking and we outnumbered by a long shot. maybe if we all could get out stuff together i would feel differently. the government is not going to help us we have to save ourselves.

  3. it’s good to see a black man being considered seriously for the presidency…..

It’s not lack of support for Obama for me, I feel embrassed to admit it but I don’t know much on his standpoints besides Iraq which is the big hot topic right now, but there are other issues facing this country.

It’s easy to say I opposed the war from the beginning, because I did too. The question is what are you going to do about it? Pull out… then what if it causes US even more problems with the middle east, then what?

So I’m not going to vote for someone just because they are black or female because I’m both. It would make history for sure, but you don’t want it to make history in the wrong way, because if they fail it reflects on us in a sense.

“ha, ha! you put one of your own in office and they cannot do anything right either”

You know that is going to be somebody’s stamdpoint.

IMO, don’t vote for gimmicks, vote for change.

#47 you have a sexist attitude. I hope your not a woman beater:(

People who didn’t approve of Bill Clinton most likely will not vote for Hillary because they will view it as
her husband “in office” all over again and they’ll assume that he will have a lot of influence in her decision making. I live in NY and to me it seems like things aren’t getting any better since she’s been in office here so I don’t know…

Not to say that if a black man is voted in that would change anything either. We had a black mayor in our city for a good 15 years and he did nothing to improve our inner city-he only focused on the suburban areas which are mostly populated by non-minorities. But it DOES seem that Obama is willing to get into the trenches of what life is like for everyday people and I think he will have a great impact in turning things around with war in IraQ.

  7. LETS BE REAL

I DONT WANT FOR NEITHER BARACK OBAMA OR HILARY CLINTON TO WIN CAUSE THINK ABOUT IT. THEM MOFOS GONNA HAVE TO CLEAN UP ALLLLLLLLLL OF THE BULLSHIT BUSH PUT AMERICA IN AND IF THEY FAIL YOU KNOW WHAT THEY WILL SAY ?

“WOMEN CANT RUN A COUNTRY” OR “BLACK PEOPLE CANT RUN A COUNTRY”

THEY WILL EITHER BLAME WOMEN OR BLACK PEOPLE IF SHIT GETS WORSE, SON. I SAY LET THEM REPUBLICANS CLEAN UP THEIR MESS THEMSELVES, SON. WE DONT NEED THAT SHIT UPON US.

I MAY BE ONLY 18 BUT I AM A REALIST. WE ARE LIVING IN A MYSOGINIST RACIST COUNTRY YALL KNOW WE ARE GONNA GO THROUGH HELL IF EITHER ONE OF THEM FAIL TO MAKE UP FOR ALL THE CRAP BUSH DID, SON. IF THE REPUBLICANS WIN THEY WILL BRING BACK OUR TROOPS ANYWAY CAUSE THIS WHOLE IRAQ SHIT IS SOME GOTDAM FIASCO.

I AINT VOTING FOR NONE OF THEM HEFFAS!!!

  8. I need to hear more from Hillary and Barack about what they will do in office, if elected, before I pick who I will vote for. I agree with some of you in here that say that you wish Barack could have waited a few more years. I was kinda set on voting for Hillary but now I have to weigh my options.

…hell, anyone’s better than the current puppet that’s in office right now.

I support Obama 100% he has me vote….But at the same time Clinton did support us while in and out of office. You seen Clinton at NAACP convention, Harlem, (lol) but seriously, I think we are looking at the fact its already been a Clinton in office, and he didnt let us down. So we expect the same from his wife. But I gotta get my brother a chance you see THEY already doubting Obama so us as BLACK FOLK need to become one and stick together for once! DONT LET OUR BROTHER DOWN! Vote OBAMA in 08!

  10. phillydon

wow black people are sad i heard shit like barack ain’t black enough and hilary is ??? white people are laughing how much hate we have among each other.now i can see white people’s view on why they hate us. barack is a great role model for young black men instead of trying to be like iverson or jay-z be like barack

    OBAMA 4 PRESIDENT

  11. Michele

Well, I won’t be voting for Obama simply because we share the same skin color. Hell no…I’ll be listening very carefully to all of the candidates and Hillary or Edwards seem like they fall more in line with what I want out of my government then they’ll get my vote. I like all three candidates and I’ll be giving all 3 a chance to convince me.

  12. BLACK GIRL

Obama’s whole family is black, and Obama “ain’t black enough”? If that ain’t blackness I don’t know what is. No matter where you’re from if you’re black you’re black.

  13. **She Said**

    Go Head Barack!!!!!
    I AM 1000% Behind you!!!!

  14. SpikeWebb

Not sure if I’d vote for Barack Obama OR Hillary Clinton in ’08. I think John Edwards will win the Democratic election. I’d like to see Obama finish his term in the Senate; get some more political savvy under his belt. He’s only 45 years old; he’ll only be in his fifties if he runs in 2012. I am glad his running though so people will learn more about him. I can see him winning a presidency some time but not in 2008. My fear is that he’ll lose in the primaries and never want to run for president again because this is going to be a nasty presidential race with bigotry raring its ugly head. I live in Massachusetts and for months we kept hearing that Massachusetts wasn’t ready for a Black governor; and look what happened. Good luck Barack; maybe not in 2008 but maybe in 2012 or 2016. You have plenty of time.

    # 93 i couldnt vote eitha…i was turnin 18 that December a month before

  18. i like the idea that he is half black, and half white, so i dont think he will side with one race more then the other, he seems like a good guy that will bring something good to the world, hopefully PEACE among races too.

  19. Babyhates

It’s funny reading some of these post with people who claim to know facts. Some where in here it says that mr. Obama was a senator since 1996 ? Wrong he was sworn in 2005. He has not really done anything for his state Illinois. Just because his skin tone is “black” doesn’t mean anything. This man is just as white as any other government offical. It’s the only real reason there “letting” him run for office. He’s a black man that speaks white. If you work any where near DC you know that everyone see’s him as a joke and that because he’s on the ballet it’s a sure win for Hillary, open your eyes people and see what “their” doing to your country. Mr. Obama needs to really sit down and look at everything that goes on behind the scenes because there’s no way he will win. I hope that some day he can really run for president but right now it would be a joke.

    @ 19

I don’t know what you could possibly be reading but thus far from #1-your post I have read positive things. I can speak for everyone when I say that I am excited and overly enthused by this brother I absolutley Love Obama that brother can have my vote any day. Not because he is black but he is th TRUTH! And Dammit AmeriKKKa needs the Truth.

  21. ThinkAboutIt

“We, the people.” It is a very eloquent beginning. But when that document [the Preamble to the US Constitution] was completed on the seventeenth of September in 1787 I was not included in that “We, the people.” I felt somehow for many years that George Washington and Alexander Hamilton, just left me out by mistake. But through the process of amendment, interpretation and court decision I have finally been included in “We, the people.”

    Barbara C. Jordan

Voting and standing up and speaking out for what you believe in DOES change things.

You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. If you are old enough to vote – you should, if not for yourself, but for all those who lost limb and life just to give you the right to. It wasn’t that long ago. Do yourself a favor and really understand the history of the priviledge -

  22. supernovadiva

the ones hating on obama talking about this is the white man’s world, i ask you to step aside and go back to the plantation. the rest of the black race have no time for non supporting side steppers. our parents and grandparents fought for us to be able to rise above and never accept sub standard living. we can do anything. so stop being crabs in a barrel and improve your life. stop waiting for someone to come do it for you.

  23. Ms.Lauren

do people actually believe in the government anyomre? maybe the very rich do. anyhow i think they might be using o.b. to get black votes for another canidate. he might loose the primaries and then he could tell people to vote fo hillary? that would not suprise me.

  24. Ms.Lauren

    sorry i meant b.O!

  25. YO MOMMA....

well with the whole electorial college votes it may seem like our votes dont count……I hear that that they can buy votes???? dont know if that is true or not, but i do think the whole voting procedures need to be revisited. it seems to me, us as black folks dont get involved in voting cause we have yet to find a candidant we trusted, someone with our same views and visions. I think obsamba running is great for our country whether he wins or not. Whoever said he should wait is an idoit. Life is short, go for yours obama!!!! As black folks we need to continue our support for him. BARACK OBAMA

  26. Meatloaf

Angel, good for you Boo! I see now why God put Concreteloop under your care. You have a strong political awareness!! You know I always agree with your takes on life and issues! So, why we not together? lol

  27. @146 YO MOMMA

Yes you can buy votes just ask the Kennedy’s and they’ll tell you all about Papa Joe buying his son a seat in the White House with all of that bootlegger money!LOL

I think we all need to pay attention to what we feel are the most important topics and find out what the candidates views are before we start bashing them(unless you already know how they feel)

If I vote for Obama it won’t be because of his skin color. It will be because I think he can do the best job in the White House. It’s just like who you do business with. I’ve learned that you can’t do business with people just because they are black because alot of times their service is not the best service and if I’m spending my money I want good service. We as a people need to make sure we do research and find out about people before we vote for them. Once you do research on a candidate and find out what their views are then you nake your decision because it seems like sompe people on here aren’t really doing any extensive research and are just making judgements off of what they think they may know. I have been guilty of that myself.

  28. kiara moore

i think that if he gets elected then you are going to have some pist off white people and they are going to try and kill him because you got some white people who still think that blacks shouldstill be slaves. so i think tha people should just support the man

  29. Yezzir I think he could turn some things Around
