Just a note, there have been 20 something covers featuring black women on the cover of Vogue. 4 Women(Oprah, Halle, Marion Jones, and JHud) are the only black women who weren’t models to grace the cover. Beyonce is only the second black woman to be on the cover of S.I’s swimsuit issue after Tyra. Dont’ you love black history month? Lol, you knew Beyonce wasn’t going to let this slide. Papa Knowles probably had them release the cover early just to compete.

@10: Vogue is a mainstream(white) magazine. They believe that black people on the cover of white magazines won’t sell as well to their white subscribers. I mean look at Sports Illustrated. The issues sells about 64 million copies each year, so it sells itself.

Some of you all are talking like making the cover of Sports Illustrated isn’t a big Deal. Trust me, it is. Take a male point of view on it. Usually that issue is their highest selling of the year. Usually who ever it is that is the hottest model in the game will get that honor. When Tyra was on top, what kind of “Top Paying Modeling Jobs” do you think she was doing? She was the first African American female to be on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue which is also one of the most coveted modeling jobs a model could ever have.
