Lil Mama - Lip Gloss (download)
Check out JIVE’s newest rap artist Lil Mama. Hailing from the East New York section of Brooklyn, 17 year-old Lil Mama has been honing her skills for 5 solid years and has grown into a triple threat excelling at rhyming, singing and dancing.
Led by the James “Groove” Chambers-produced first single and new anthem “Lip Gloss,” Lil Mama is also working with producers like Swizz Beats, Green Lantern, Dame Grease, Carl Shack and Scram Jones to create an arsenal of powerful songs for her debut album - aptly titled The Voice of the Young People - coming later this year.

for her first single and to be the age she is, its not bad especially when you think about people like 50 cent still making songs about the same thing what’s his excuse, he ain’t sixteen no more lol. i think she has a shot at doing well as long as she stays humble and doesn’t start rapping bigheaded

I think these lil New York kids need to fall back until they can come up with some better rhymes.
And NO its NOT age appropriate, My lil sis is 15 and would think this is the weakest piece of shit.
So I consider this song a NOT. Just another sterotypical image of what a teenager is.

This song is straight garbage. Rapping about lip gloss? I don’t care if she’s 16 it’s a stupid song. Back in the day artists were young coming out way younger than she and they didn’t make foolish songs. Sucks to hear what music has come to…

The song is annoying, but she is only 16…Problem is, most 16 year olds nowadays is too fast and grown for this song, so it’s cute for 8-12 year olds…Other than that, it’s bubble gum and it sucks.

Ok..NO!
Black folks can we STOP with the product placement?!
DAMN! Mac & Loreal (Cristal & those other alchohol brands either) ain’t doing nothing for us.
Seriously, we can have a song now about some Lace Fronts if this goes through as music.
And despite it being age appropriate, wouldn’t you want your children listening to something with substance and not so materialistic/shallow?

NOT HOT…WHY ARE YOU AT YOUR LOCKER WORRYING ABOUT BOYS LIKING YOUR LIP GLOSS? YOU NEED TO BE WORRYING ABOUT GETTING A GOOD EDUCATION SO YOU CAN STOP WRITING CRAPPY SONGS LIKE THAT! I’M SORRY, I DON’T THINK THIS IS APPROPRIATE AT ALL FOR A TEENAGER TO BE SINGING ABOUT SOME LIP GLOSS AND BOYS LIKING IT. AND WE WONDER WHY SO MANY YOUNG GIRLS ARE MOTHERS…TSK, TSK…NOT HOT!!!!!!

I’d rather my child listen to an edited Wu-Tang album than this stupid stuff. If you let your child grow up listening to this then that’s what she is gonna think is good rap music, this is why dumb artists like Pretty Ricky and Bow Wow sell albums because little children think it’s good and kid friendly which its not. “On The Hotline” is straight up nasty!

So what is this Chicken Noodle Soup part 2, NOT! I let my 15 year old cousin listen to this and she cracked up laughing at the record, it’s so NOT hot. Why do people put out records like this I mean seriously do they think it’s a good look for hip hop. Even when Kriss Kross came out with records it was something with lyrics just a little bit more credible so please don’t give the girl a pass because she’s JUST sixteen. If she can’t rap at this age then why put out a record? More so why a record about lip gloss? Guess we ran out of things to rap about huh? Doesn’t matter anyways because like other bubble gum Chicken Noodle Soup rapping Walk It Out artists they’ll be ghost after their first single.

ACTUALLY….. at least she’s talking about something AGE APPROPRIATE. It is EXTREMELY REFRESHING to see someone YOUNG acting THEIR AGE and not being all skanky, rapping about sex. This reminds me of 80 RAP ABOUT SIMPLE THINGS LIKE SNEAKERS. its innocent and fun, and thats how it SHOULD be!!

I can’t even comment on the song before I say something about her myspace page…… ok, granted I may be to damn old to be her “friend”, I have a daughter and little sisters who were turned off from the message on her profile…. I mean do she really have to say all that other shit, and she singing about lip gloss….
1. If you are fat or ugly, don’t request me…. ummmmmmmmmmmmm first of all.. who is really going to look in the mirror and say, “Oh, I am not cute enough to be her myspace friend.?”.. that is what is wrong with our kids today.. society’s idea of cute.
2. If you are older than 23…. I ain’t even going to lie…. I have a daughter on myspace, and every person on her friend list, I want to check them out first… I monitor her online activities… VIGOROUSLY… and .. well just damn… some of her friend request are going to be older people… just use disrcetion in acceptance
SHE IS NOT PUTTING OUT A VERY POSITIVE MESSAGE WITH HER RULES FOR FRIEND REQUESTS… That is my point in this message.
Oh, and as for the song. At first I was bobbing my head to the beat…. then I got lost in the rhythm and got the song confused with…”I’M a hustla, I’ma I’ma hustla”…..lol And it made me think of Beyonce’s Bday album.. just the general feel of the song… SO DON’T YALL START JUMPING ON ME WITH THE BEYONCE THANG!!
At the same time I would rather my ten year daughter walking around talking about her lip gloss than Pretty Ricky’s “On the Hotline” talking bout sex.

She’s actually been around for quite some time. She really has been rhyming since 11. I remember her being on BET a long while back. She used to do promos for herself and stuff for birthday parties. She started out really humble. She’s young give her time to mature. This song is garbage. You cant judge an artist on one song alone though. How many people came out with ONE summer banger and you swore they would be the next hot thing and then you never heard from them again. (j-kwon, so many people bumped that tipsy song, yet he fell off. and people swore he was hotness)

SHE NEEDS TO WAIT TILL SHES AT LEAST 18… but this song sounds like cat shit sizzelen on a skillet…..if she comes out i think she can be succesful if she does like missy eliot does..and sing on some of her hooks.. cuz not alot of people wanna hear about yo muthafucken lipgloss for 5 minutes… thats wack you need to switch it up at least… but i mean at least shes doesn something somewhat positive with her life… even though i hope shes still in school

eh, quit talking about the girl’s hands. She said her lip gloss was popping not her nail polish. Anyway, thsi songs sucks to me but then again I am a little older. Maybe If I was 12 again. I’d love it. However the girl is 16. So I would much rather my daughter be singing about he poppping her lipgloss then saying ing she is married to the firm .. I think that other female rapper was 16 when she hit fame too. Now she fighting the women in nail shops. Which you rather your child listen too? Think about it!

Look ima be real honest (as a female rapper myself) She’s 16, I would rather have her rap about lip gloss any day than her pimpin niggaz or some crazy ass sex song but, this song is weak as hell I’m 19 at 16 I would have ripped this girl into pieces. I certainly can’t hate on her for doing her thang so more power to her I think she’ll come into her own eventually we all do right?

@meeeeeeh, I also enjoy pitbboi’s comments. I think I’m his stan..lol As for this song…I feel there’s a dilemma. I’m overjoyed that it was age appropriate but she could have brought the heat better. I think it should have been school related because I don’t think kids are as dumb as we make them out to be. I do however like the fact that it was reminiscent of old skool hip hop in the way that it told a story. If she keeps that up, loses the superficial lyrics while boosting her lyrical quality and doesn’t give into the sex symbol stigma I would no doubt have any problem with my little cousin listening to her. I would actually prefer it.
