Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety reported in their Thursday issue that Universal Pictures is developing a movie about the lip-synching duo, Milli Vanilli. For you young ones out there, they were a popular 5-minutes-of-fame group that lost their one Grammy for best new artist in 1990 when it was outed that they never sung one note on any of their records. Jeff Nathanson – who has been assigned as the writer for this project, was quoted saying:
“I’ve always been fascinated by the notion of fakes and frauds, and in this case, you had guys who pulled off the ultimate con, selling 30 million singles and 11 million albums and then becoming the biggest laughing-stocks of pop entertainment,” the paper quoted Nathanson as saying.
What’s so fascinating about it? We have untalented musicians who do the same thing now, only they attempt to sing to avoid this from happening again. Wny don’t they ever leave these guys alone and let the one member that is still living live a happy existence already…

Now to the legal woes, Jamie Foxx is the latest celebrity getting sued. In a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, his former fashion stylist Stacy Young claimed that Foxx and Foxxhole Records failed to pay her for services rendered last year.
Young was hired to work with Jamie at the 2006 BET Awards and press junkets for ‘Miami Vice’. She is asking for relief from the court, not mentioning an exact amount she is owed. Go head girl, go head, get down…
QUEEN LATIFAH’S “WIFEY”
No she doesn’t have a wife you meanies…Queen Latifah is coming back to the tube, but this time as Executive Producer for the upcoming Viacom drama “Wifey”.
This new one hour series will air on BET and VH1 simultaneously, with a premise centered on a newly-widowed wife of a hip-hop mogul who must reassemble her life as she takes over her late husband’s record label. Once there, she discovers that her family’s fortunes were built upon lies and crimes that now threaten to destroy everything. With the help of two female friends, they take on the male-dominated world of hip-hop. Ghetto drama? I’m up for it…

I guess the group member will have royalties because that is his story. I don’t find that fascinating either but it’s funny how easily can people be fooled. I personally only judge artists on LIVE singing, and it’s easy for me to see when an artist lip-synchs even when it’s well done, and echoes and other special effects on the voice don’t count as good live.

I respect Milli Vanilli, they actually had nice voices themselves. I saw it on some documentary…but the company they worked with liked the other voices better and the way Milli Vanilli looked better. So they combined the other voices with Milli Vanilli’s image. It really wasn’t their fault. One has commited suicide and one will never be able to live it down. Let ‘em breathe for God’s sake!!

I completely agree with the two of you. I remember watching something Behind the Music on VH1 with Milli Vanilli before that guy committed suicide and they showed how they actually had talent. But i think that they were given an offer they couldnt refuse. they werent even from america, you never know what was being fed into their heads about fame and money. it was just an unfortunate situation that hopefully a movie will get people to understand their story.
They did those guys wrong, just like C&C music factory and groups from that era. They liked some ugly fat singers voice but wanted to front up some handsome guys to fake it. I feel sorry that one guy in MV felt so bad he committed suicide.

You know it’s a damn shame that the producer who came up w/the idea for them to lip sync got off scott free. He is still making money today. It’s my understanding the real people that sung the song didn’t have the “right” look, and this man came up w/the bright idea and then left them to dry when the sh** hit the fan. 1. The difference between Milli Vanilli and people like Ashlee Simpson and Brittany Spears is that they did not sing any of the vocals whereas Ashlee Simpson recorded the album herself in the studio but just doesn’t perform it live. You really can’t compare this situation to todays pop singers.
