To DATDUDE: The hype is this. She went from nothing to something in a blink of a lazy eye. Not only did she turn in a truthful performance, but the voice. Fantasia can sing, yes. But her accomplishments are dimmed by the light of Jennifer Hudson’s sudden fame.

I feel you. But what about these BLACK FOLK that can’t even support their own race (such as DATDUDE, if they even are BLACK)? That’s a shame. I mean i’m only half-serious when I joke about some of the people in entertainment, but I support them if they are WORTH supporting. It just seems that people would rather support NONSENCE, then something that’s REAL, SMH so SAD. I would rather support someone like JENNIFER HUDSON (whose VOICE could RIVAL some of the GREATEST VOICES we’ve ever heard), then someone like CASSIE (who my three year old NIECE can SING better than). I heard this one RADIO clip, where the D.J’s put Jennifer Hudson on the SPOT and asked her to sing along to ARETHA FRANKLINS “NATURAL WOMAN”, and she KILLED IT. She didn’t even know they were going to ask her to do that, she knew ALL the words and EVERYTHING. I can’t really name ANYONE her age in that business that would have been able to do that, on the SPOT. That’s what SEPERATES her from EVERYONE else.

I’m NOT easily impressed by entertainers these days, but her VOICE blows me away, because NOONE her age can really SAAAANG like her. People can be MAD at the fact that she OUTSHINED the HELL out of everyone in that FILM all they want, but if JENNIFER play’s her cards right, she can REACH LEGENDARY STATUS with that VOICE. It’s funny that you mention her PHYSICAL appearance, how she’s NOT the same size as some of her PEERS, but that’s what I think makes her so special. Jennifer reminds me of the back in the day SINGERS, where all you needed was TALENT. Her VOICE alone will carry her. Not to mention she’s BEAUTIFUL. I wish her all the BEST. Because she is getting all this recognition NATURALLY, and when she started that FILM she wasn’t looking for ANY of this. Yeah, she didn’t WIN American Idol. Why? Because GOD had another plan for her. Which is why she’s more then likely going to be making an acceptance SPEECH come OSCAR night. SHE BETTER WORK!!

There is no doubt that Jennifer can sing.

However, Jennifer’s fame and notoriety has been somewhat of a Cinderella existence. Her success thus far has been the result of direct project collaborations. No investor has taken a risk on Jennifer for a solo project. She was a contestant on the very high profiled television production AMERCAN IDOL. She remade the historic song, AND I AM TELLLING YOU, originally performed by JENNIFER HOLIDAY, already penned as Broadway’s most historical vocal performances. She appeared in the silver screen production of DREAMGIRLS, which featured some of the most prolific black entertainers in the industry ~ EDDIE MURPHY, JAIMIE FOX, BEYONCE, DANNY GLOVER, LORETTA DIVINE, ANIKA NONI ROSE. It is safe to say that Jennifer’s launching tab was picked up by AMERICAN IDOL and DREAMWORKS PICTURES.

The recording industry is shady as hell, we all have seen alot of great talent bottom out way before their time was up. Once the DREAMGIRLS fanfare ends, I hope Jennifer finds sound investors and handlers who are willing to continue to champion her current “rate” of success and fame for “LONG TERM” profitabilty.

She’ll be long term, just sit back and watch.

Melle-Mel, You forgot the covers of Giant and Advocate. But yeah, they are really adding up. I like the one where she is laying down, and there is another one where the light is just reflecting off her face in a silouette 40′s type picture, very pretty. Her face on this cover looks slimmer than any others though. Maybe they photoshopped the face a little too much..Go JHud!!

I love this shoot, I think the difference in THIS one and the Vogue one, is it’s supposed to look this way. Vogue was supposed to be about beauty.

The pics are ok but when Mags pick the photo for the cover they pick the BEST one. So if that is the best with the photoshop than that not saying much at all. Not very photogenic.
