JENNIFER HUDSON COVERS VOGUE

JENNIFER HUDSON COVERS VOGUE

I’m sure you’ve all heard the rumor that J.hud was covering Vogue, well here is the proof. 2007’s IT girl, covers the “Power Issue” of the popular fashion magazine, and the photos were taken at the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem by Annie Leibovitz. I have to give her props for being one of the few “big” girls to cover this magazine, that is definitely a hard feat to accomplish…

BUT….

Why did they pick that photo as the cover? That was messed up! Not one of these pictures are flattering. WTF was Annie Leibovitz smoking that day?

“And for those of you that are emailing Anna Wintour about blacks being on her magazine is only going to make us look even ignorant than they already think we are!…..”

how?

The only reason why you people are giving vogue such a high standard is because that magazine has mainly expensive shit in there.

Everyones’ worried about how Beyonce feel…what about the other black beautiful actresses out there? I’m sorry not impressed. As long as Vogue has been in business and have only three black women been on the cover? Please…Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Lindsey Lohan, Britney??? Please there are so many beautiful celebrities that could have been there years ago like Latifa, Thandi Newton, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston in the day…this is madness..how many white celebs have been on the cover in the past years.

Once again Black people letting the white man make fools of them.

I thought this was a JHud post???

I’m mad that some people here have a problem with Beyonce not being on the cover, WTF???? This post is about JENNIFER HUDSON, not Bey. Goodness people. Bey has achieved so much in her career and you stans lose your shit just because JHud got a cover? SMH. Obviously JHud has hit a nerve, y’all must find her to be a threat to precious Bey or else you wouldn’t have a problem with it.

And to all who say Jennifer will be forgotten when the Dreamgirls hype dies down, you can’t be sure about that. She is an Oscar-nominated actresss now, so she will definitely be getting more movie offers. If she doesn’t make it in singing she has her acting to fall back on.

Wow! That’s all I have 2 say after looking at that god awul cover. To all my B fans in here who are worried about this Heiffer known as J Hud taking over B’s throne, U need not worry anymore. After this horrible disgusting cover, J Hud will be the laughing stock of America. Bitch looks like the chick from the Norbit movie. Trust me Jennifer “Flop”son’s 15 mins are nearly over, just endure a little while longer till Oscars are over, & no one will even remember who this chick is.

I just love the cover! JHud is a big girl…and these picture show her in all her big girl awsomeness! Annie Leibowitz is a true artist. She captured JHud in her true image and with true meaning, not the photo-shopped mess we’re used to seeing in every other magazine. The photos relate to the article….it’s not a fashion spread, for that we can check her out in the essence magazine.

#25 is right! Blacks need to support and uplift one another. I love Beyonce!

But it’s fun to gossip about people you don’t know too! LOL

Why Lawd

Tuesday, February 13, 2007 /

So many of the comments on this post are a hot ass mess.

1. J. Hud is not the third or fifth black woman to ever grace a Vogue cover. I’m reposting a link to Clay Cane featuring all (I think) the Black women who graced the cover of Vogue by themselves. http://claycane.blogspot....7/02/hudson-on-vogue.html
There are at least 13 pictures up there, some of which are only one of multiple covers. I say I’m happy she got a Vogue cover, even if she’s had better pictures.

2. J. Hud has achieved some things in the beginning of her career that others haven’t acheived after years in the business. Congratulations to her, and I’m proud of her for that. I hope that doesn’t mean her career has peaked already, she’s setting such a high bar for herself. But I support her and her ventures.

3. STFU about how Beyonce could’ve done the cover better. Bey is an established star. Jen is the new “it” girl on the scene. Why are some tearing Jen down so hard, as if she’s a huge threat to Bey’s career? If Bey is that great, then SHE’LL BE FINE!!! Damn!!! There are Bey fans, and then Bey fans that are bordering on Standom, and then Stans. Fans are more realistic about the artist they love. Someone else’s success is NOT going to take Bey’s shine. Is it that no one else is allowed to shine other than Bey right now? She is not a deity, she’s a human being. She’s doing well and she’ll be fine without others tearing down anybody else who is getting their shine on as well.

4. No matter what you think, Vogue is a big deal. So to #222 who said we need to be happier when she’s winning NAACP image awards and stuff and f*ck the oscars/golden globes/vogue…are you serious? We should be happy no matter what award she wins. That’s like saying that a woman who finally made it through a glass wall at a company and becomes the first female CEO should brush it off, but if she becomes the head of her ladies auxilliary, she should feel exhiliarated. Maybe not exactly, but I hope you see the link between the two. An accomplishment is an accomplishment. It doesn’t mean we’re waiting for the “white man” to validate us. We’re not all dancing in a proverbial minstrel show.

Overall, congrats to Jen and the huge jump start to her career.

All you hating ass bytches have been silenced! J. Hud has made the cover of Vogue one of the most, is not the most important mags out there. Regardless of what you have to say about her, you in your pathetic miserable little world will never have the chance to have this opportunity. J. Hud is on the cover for a reason and she looks great and people are excited to see her coming not so much for that other girl in the movie. so get over it and I’m scared to see what the bythces look like who are hating on j.hud…next!

YEEEEH JENNIFER, You going to be the next top hollywood actress. No matter what some of these jealous ass bitches say about you. You are talented as beyonce or anybody else and you are a better actress. I love beyonce too. Nobody’s hating on her, but this is not about bey. It’s about Jen. Deal with it. I hope to see you in many more movies to come. I hope you get a Hollywood star on the walk of fame cause you damn well deserve it. I can’t stand these lame ass nobodys that just sit around in their cave hating on other folks. Just because they aint about nothing. I don’t mean to bring somebody down, but when you try tear somebody down that’s doing go for theirselves (especially a colored indivisual) that makes me madd. And by reading these comments I know it makes other people mad too.

But you know what, ya’ll this negative shit aint going to bring jennifer down. People talk about everybody, you can’t please the whole world, and why try too. Jennifer has so many fans black, white, of all races that’s supporting her. She going to get paid serious dollars and continue to shine. While some of ya’ll sitting at home watching and wishing ya’ll can have half of what she has, still trying to hustle to make a buck, but aint got shit.

You can hate if you want to, but you wouldn’t get far. Chow!

I skimmed through most of the comments after mine(#6) and I still say take her ass of the cover, i don’t even read Vogue since i’m straight, but if the cover don’t make a real man at least do a double take, remove dat shit, period. She’s a cute girl, but damn i can hear her girdle screaming from here. Ayo, at least have her tighten her shit up first, if Oprah old ass can do it, its too possible. Look like she getting her cardio at KFC right now. Get the body straight, drop some hot singles, and do the the cover right, maybe even some good nude shots, so when i walk by the magazine stands my little head turns to take a look, u feel me. Aight, cool, now let me go back to bed next to my thin ass white girlfriend.

@230. DC3BKM your such an idiot! every1 in the music business knows someone younger/better looking/more talented always takes over the place of the person before them who was the star. Take Jennifer Lopez, couple of years ago she was considered to be all that and more. now noone gives a fuck about her. Its the same with beyonce, shes overexposed herself, she always looks the same, shes always trying to be everywhere and conquer everything and not allowing any1 else to achieve success. ie being a singer isnt enough, she has to act too. thats why people are sick of her, shes nothing special. yes shes talented but some day someones gonna take her place, that person might be jhud or anyone else. people need to get over her. Congratulations to JHUD! she should demand a reshoot though

If you go to the vogue website, you will see a video commentary from Andre Leon Talley, and he is the driving force behind the J-Hud cover, he admits that he is captivated with her and her talent. He obviously talked Anna Wintour into putting J-Hud on the cover, and she agreed. Also, He helped her pick out her Golden Globe Dress, and he has already helped
her pick our her Oscar dress as well.J-Hud is very fortunate to have this talented fashionista by her side. If you look at the picture, on the website, i honestly feel it captures her larger than life personality, as if to say…”I’m here Baby! Look at me!”

I am so glad that for once the light-skinned dream-girl (no pun intended) is not getting favored over someone with real talent (J.Hud). This blog for example, kisses Beyonce’s ass, all the while knowing it could look for real talent to trump instead of someone who is going to be forgotten in 10 years. Also Beyonce’s momma should have went to fashion school instead of getting hitched to some guy for his big pay-check. Maybe then we wouldn’t have to look at her whack-ass, tacky-ass, country fashion!

Vogue Slammed For Bad Jennifer Hudson Cover Image

Submitted by frillr on Tue, 2007-02-13 18:00. Jennifer Hudson | Vogue

Vogue Magazine applauded for selecting curvaceous singer Jennifer Hudson as their March 2007 Cover girl is being slammed by fashion gossips and the African American gossip community for the disastrous image used for the Vogue Magazine March 2007 cover.

The Dreamgirls star appears on the cover of the magazine’s annual Power Issue, mouth open, fierce weave and tons of cleavage spilling all over the cover.

Hudson was shot for the publication by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz at Harlem’s Apollo Theater in New York.

Pop Black Entertainment Site Concreteloop.com writes

“Why did they pick that photo as the cover? That was messed up! Not one of these pictures are flattering. WTF was Annie Leibovitz smoking that day?”

A poster on popular Fashion Community thefashionspot.com writes

“It is terrible. It’s worse than I expected. What is she doing with her mouth? And why isn’t she looking at the camera? I think shes posed like that so that her collarbones stick out, which gives the illusion that shes ‘thin’.”

Jennifer Hudson is the first African-American singer to appear on the cover of US fashion magazine Vogue and the third African-American celebrity to grace the cover of the fashion bible.

#271 -
Thanks, yes I know there have been more than 3.

I cut and pasted the story as it was written.
Most articles are written with a slant and in this case they are careful to say she “is the first African-American singer to appear on the cover of US fashion magazine Vogue and the third African-American CELEBRITY to grace the cover” -

I expect that are trying to get some leverage by suggesting that this is more significant.

It’s also a story behind the story.

Firstly I wanna start by saying that Im very proud of Jennifer’s accomplishments. How many people can say I was on a show called American Idol and worked my way up to playing as a supporting character in an Grammy award winning movie. She is a one in a million.

But…. I did dislike that picture. I not going to sit here and blame it on her, but I will blame it on the people that published the magazine with her looking like that. That wasn’t right at all.

while I do believe it is a great honor for J-hud to grace the cover of Vougue. I don’t understand why? She is only the third AA to do so ad the first AA singer. J-hud can’t hold a candle stick to the achievements of Halle berry and oprah (the other AA cover females) she aint even dropped an album yet so why this honor. i believe that both her and B are great singers. The bottom line is that if eerbody wasn’t sick of seein Beyonce all over the place no way would they have asked j-hud to do this shoot and it’s not fair to j-hud. she’s not being recognized for being herself but as a dreamgirl and a distraction from Beyonce. But yo! she do look like she Hungry on the cover. RE-TAKE pretty please

I’m all for “Black Power”, but really, this isn’t “history”.

This is a magazine company trying to get a piece of the (quickly diminishing) pop goldmine that is Jennifer Hudson.

She isn’t being presented as a thing of beauty, class, elegance, or prestige. Which is what Vogue & being on the cover of Vogue primarily stands for.

Her entire pose is “retarded”, you can see down her dress (which doesn’t even fit), her mouth is wide open, & her hair is in disarray.

The is…
the “Over the Top!” “Biggest Spring Issue Ever”, hence the loud, overweight chick.

It’s a joke… HA HA HA

As for the supposed Beyonce/Jennifer competition…
There is none.

Only a negative idiot would attempt to not only compare, but pit the two against each other.

I saw Dreamgirls. I don’t think Jennifer Hudson deserved the oscar. Her acting was just medicre. But I guess when the press and everyone else is pumping her up, she had to win. My prediction, she is a one-trick pony. In a year she will be ‘gone’ Look at all the other women who have won oscars for supporting actress, their careers faultered. There are just a handfull of supporting actress winners who are still around. Tatum O’Neal, Anna Paquin, Teresa Wright, Shirley Jones, Mary Steenburgen, Marisa Tomimei, Mira Sorvino, Gloria Grahme, Kim Hunter, Sandy Dennis, Donna Reed, the list goes on and on, after they won best supporting, their careers, were in neutral. Never again did they do another film that generated anything. Some ended up on TV.

I thought Vogue was about fashion. Sad to see it’s turning into another gossip rag. Jennifer Hudson has barely contributed to fashion in anyway aside from being a successful full figured woman. So what? There’s millions of them. The only reason she’s on that cover is because she’s moderately famous. Why not use a plus size model who would really put that cover to good use in the industry?

By the way I’m not a Jennifer Hudson hater…I love her and think she’s incredible and talented, BUT Vogue should not be about celebrity.
