After sitting through about 3 hours of pure garbage, I was elated when Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whitaker took home their Oscars. Jennifer won in the Best Supporting Actress category, while Forest Whitaker took it home in the Best Actor category. I’m a big fan of Forest and I’m glad he finally got his props from the acting world.

Jennifer Hudson’s win made history last night. Not only is she one of the VERY FEW Blacks to win an Oscar but she is also the youngest. THAT IS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT. Instead of focusing on that, y’all need to make this a JHud vs. Bey thing. SHAMEFUL. We see an opportunity to praise one of our own and this is what you do? SMH.
If you didn’t notice Beyonce was the FIRST person JHud hugged before she went on stage. Bey was in tears when JHud was making her speech. Both women gave an outstanding performace, with Bey even encouraging JHud by saying “SING IT GIRL!”
Now tell me where there is any animosity between the two. Both women respect each other, with JHud calling Bey a “goddess” on Oprah and declaring that she is “feeling Beyonce”. Once again, tell me where there is any bitterness or jealousy. THE ONLY PLACE WHERE THERE IS A FUED IS BETWEEN THE FANS, THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!

Yes, congrats to them both. Also, I do not think Beyonce outsung Jennifer. Jennifer’s voice is a bit stronger and more powerful than Beyonce. Not to say, Beyonce can’t sing, because she can. She has an exceptional voice. It’s just that Beyonce voice is not as powerful as Jennifer. However, I do think Beyonce singing sounds a bit more polished than Jen. Just my opinion.

It’s sad how people limit someone’s fanbase to blog comments only. I have no doubt that there are several bandwagoners on this site but to insinuate that Jennifer only has fans because she’s the anti-Beyonce is plain stupid. As for who sung better, that’s all opinion. No one has the final answer because everyone has a different opinion on what they consider is good in a singer’s voice. At the end of the day the performances were secondary. The night was about the winners. So argue if you must but Jennifer is still home polishing Oscar’s gold face as we speak.

I became a Jennifer Hudson fan when she sang “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going”. She just captured me with her voice. (Hope that dosen’t make me a bandwagon fan…) Beyonce made me a fan with Bills, Bills, Bills with Destiny’s Child. I love both of these women, and their voices are incredible.

Most are old and don’t go see the movies, they just vote on WHO THEY LIKE not who should get it. ALSO black films are not looked at or no one submits them to the academy for review. Also latinos and other are not look at greatly too. The Academy never let you know who comes in second either and most people who lose may only lose by 1 vote. Just my 50 cents.

I’ve read a lot of different opinions about Beyonce and Jennifer, I noticed that a lot of people talk about Beyonce’s jealously about Jennifer’s sudden fame, I don’t want to say the same thing, but this what I think and observered regarding their oscar performance, Jennifer Hudson is wonderful singer, you can feel the power when she sings, but she reminds me of the old school singers like Aretha Franklin, which we haven’t seen in a long time. Aretha didn’t really have the best stage presence either.
She is very humble and down to earth, and grateful, people find that refreshing, but, she is not a performer or entertainer like beyonce. Beyonce is a entertainer, her stage persence is on point, her singing ability is powerful as well, she reminds me of a R&B version of Tina Turner.
Now here are two singers, two totally different styles, they are both needed in music today. It doesn’t make any sense for people to hate on Beyonce or Jennifer and put their styles against each other, I think Beyonce let Jennifer have the spotlight at the Oscars, I don’t think she tried to out sing Jennifer Hudson, but I noticed Jennifer did a little too much with the ad-libs.
I think they both have strengths and weaknesses, what people find interesting about Jennifer is her humbleness which they don’t pick on from Beyonce, and she probably is a humble, nice person. But you can’t deny the fact that Beyonce is a music star, a entertainer, with a powerful stage presence, and a voice that is trained, with a strong technique. Jennifer Hudson not there yet. But she will be.

I know its a lot of fun to compare, and debate and even put the singers and stars against each other. Its gossip.That’s the whole point.
But, it brings down the potential to have more black singers and stars out there, collaborating together, woking together, our black performers need to be seen and heard and working on a lot of hollywood projects and if Hollywood thinks black folks can’t get along because we are always putting each other down or fighting, they will not give us the opportunity to do these things, they rarely give our black stars the chance now!

And as far as “people making up competitions” I KNOW that wasn’t directed at me b/c I could give a rat’s a$$ about putting Bey up against Jen. I think both are equally good and I give both of them their props when its due. Hell, they ain’t putting no food on the damn table for me or my kids so I really don’t give a fuck about “making up competitions”.

i am very happy for jhud. i think that she deserve it. forest time to shine was long over due. i am happy for him as well. i just wish that all of our people could of took one home that night. especially will smith he did a excellent job in the pursuit of happiness.
I really like J-hud, and I think that a black women winning an Oscar in Hollywood is a big direction…….However I think she won for her singing and vocal ability rather than her actual acting talent.
Congrats to Forest (although I was really routing for Will) he had one hell of a performance =)
