Let’s define outsinging shall we. Outsinging does not involve some1 singing louder than some1. Jennifer had her night last night & got her Oscar. But don’t get it twisted, she absolutely 100% DID NOT, outsing Beyonce. She sang louder, yes, but not better. Hearing her sing live makes my ears bleed. She always manages to find a way to ruin a perfectly good song. Remember the Aretha Franklin tribute? Jennifer has no control over her voice. It goes everywhere in less than 30 seconds. Clive better get miss Hud some vocal teachers. B on the other hand shone in this performance. She has control, intonation, and you can understand her when she sings. Such a short list. So dad. But anywhoo the Oscars are the most boring anything to ever anything anything. I was about to pull my pubes off waiting for them to announce Jhud, Whitaker, and Scorses’ awards.

I am so happy for JHUD and Forrest Whitaker. I have always been a fan of his.

However, this is sooo sad when we as black people can’t support one another and have to focus on all the negatives. We have two beautiful black women doing the damn thing, let’s support that. Instead of picking them apart. It seems to me that this so called friction between the two has been created by others like some of the negative, hating folks here. JHUD has said that her Bey and Anika clicked from day on and that there is no tension. She also says in her Vogue article, “I am feeling Beyonce”. As for Beyonce she has publicly supported JHUD many times. I just find this all so ridiculous and incredibly SAD!

Please let’s not turn on JHUD 5 years down the road and try tear her apart. These are beautiful and talented black women of different sizes and color. Let’s celebrate that and stop HATIN! Or maybe we should take it 40 years when we wouldn’t even be having these disscussions, because there were no Oscars, or Grammys for us to win.

I hate when people say that actors/actresses/songwriters whatever got robbed. The only way that determination can be made is if you sat and watched all nominated performances/listened to all songs. To say that Eddie Murphy was robbed is a slight overstatement. Did you watch Little Miss Sunshine? Did you see that performance? Probably not…but you’re just gonna say that Eddie got robbed anyway.

Better doesnt mean louder, however, better does mean a better range, vocal quality, and the ability to maintain notes. #38 - You’ve got tin cans where your ears should be. Make no mistake, Beyonce’s a decent - if unremarkable singer. Sure her voice is pretty - but in my humble opinion, it’s also very thin. To paraphrase Jamie Fox from the movie, her voice lacks ‘personality’. Jennifer’s voice, on the other hand, has personality to spare; from her bottom (no pun intended) and midrange to her upper-register - there’s just something about its overall tone, that for me, makes it infinity more interesting to listen to than Beyonce’s. Having said all that, there’s clearly enough room for them both.

I was happy for Jen, but her speech was ackward, and no I’m not a B fan by a long shot. But they both were trying to out sing each other and they both sounded a mess. Honestly Anika looked the best and sang the best. She had so much grace on stage. J is can sing hands down but its always so loud. On the other hand it was good to hear B sing more from the belly (depth) than the shaking high pitch she usually shares with the world.

I would first like to say that I am happy for both Jennifer and Forrest.

I know a lot of people are giving Jennifer slack because she is new to the game but I don’t think that she is any less deserving. We all know that there are other A.A. actresses who have more experience and have paid their dues in hollywood. But we also know how the game is played. Many of our A.A. actors/actresses will have very successful careers and will never win an oscar. Is this fair? No!!!!!! But this like many other social and economic issues in this country when pertaining to minorities is not fair.

The award show was based on last years performance and she was a front runner. She did a very good job in the movie and she did an equally good job last night.

As far as Beyonce is concerned I don’t feel any sympathy for her. I don’t even know why anyone would even discuss her at this point. She is a very talented, beautiful, and smart young lady. She is more than able to share the spotlight for one evening. Yesterday was not about her and I am sure she was aware of that fact.

On that note I do have to say that I was more than a little disappointed with Jennifer’s interviews after the show. I tuned into E! and they were showing the post-award shows press interviews. Watching her answer those questions was like watching a train wreck.

If I could give her or her team one word of advice it would be to have her take a few public speaking/interview skills classes. You could tell that she was ill prepared for that portion of the evening. I do understand that she was nervous but she looked like a fish out of water and extremely overwhelmed. It was very hard to watch. Her team should have better prepared her. Hopefully as her career matures and flourishes this too will get better in time.

Congrats to Jennifer & Forest! I believe Jennifer won her award due to her acting not just her singing. Was it me or did B try to out sing Jennifer last night during their performance? I’m waiting for Will Smith to win an Oscar, he brought me to tears with his performance in the Pursit of Happyness. But I’m not mad at Forest. A BLACK MAN WON EITHER WAY!!!

# 19, It really DOESN’T MATTER whether or not her album sells (which by the way I know it will), REGARDLESS, it has gone down IN HISTORY that she is an OSCAR WINNER. So many actors and actresses have been in the business for “forever” and do not have the award, but SHE DOES, and no one can take that honor away from her. I peeped this a long time ago. Her “fans” don’t have anything positive to say about her unless they also get in a dig at Beyonce. It’s like they’re obsessed. That’s how I KNOW they are not true fans.

BANDWAGONERS don’t buy albums, they don’t buy concert tickets, they don’t support your career, because they are all about the negative — about what somebody else is NOT doing, rather than what the person they supposedly admire IS doing.

This is what happens when you have overnight success, largely built on a fake, media-made rivalry and undiscerning people that eat it up.

Jennifer has been quick about squashing the rumors of rivalry between her and Beyonce and I’m sure it must give her a sick feeling to her stomach to have to keep answering these questions. I would be sick too, because those questions would have NOTHING to do with ME and MY talent.

The media doesn’t continually ask Beyonce about a fake rivalry. They keep directing the questions to Jennifer. It’s like they’re not interested in her unless there’s some cat-fight angle to the story. This is not genuine interest.

I have yet to hear an interview where someone asks her about her upcoming projects. They just keep focusing on A.I./Simon B.S. or Beyonce B.S. THIS IS A SETUP.

People on blogs are the same way. They are NOT GENUINELY interested in Jennifer. Most probably haven’t even seen “Dreamgirls.” They only care about the Beyonce angle, as evidenced by this post where it didn’t take folks long to go there.

It’s so predictable, and does not bode well for Jennifer. Her own fan site has like 10 regular posters, and that’s about it. She will have to stand on her own and that’s when the real deal will be seen.

Now as for Beyonce. I watch that entire award show. When Jennifer Hudson won, She was one of the two people who stood up for Jennifer Hudson and gave her hug. She had tears in her eyes from joy as she watched Jennifer accept her awrad. Not once did I see jealousy or envy or saltiness etched on her face.And dare I say she looked really happy for Jennifer. She and Jennifer both sung them damn songs. But no stupid negros like yourselves will turn this into a tournament between two women who cant even catch a break from their own damn people. Smh, you all should be ashamed at yourselves. I dont give damn about no white actors or actresses or what they do to their own kind. @ 174,I agree! I was TOTALLY embarrassed for B….it was quite obvious she was trying to catch up in the performance. Two different types of singers, point blank. Case in point: a performance by Pattie L verses Sade. Both great artist but two DIFFERENT types of artist. BTW I’m a great fan of both!!
