Kelis is beautiful…..she’s a bad chick and her style is fab. she’s one of my fav artists too.
I am TOO sick of people saying Kelis’ style is so unique. IT IS NOT! She looks like any other chic rocking that same style, which has been popular for some time now.

do you live in manhattan/harlem? how can you say what people see? nyc is the fashion capital of the world. we’ve got flyest fashionistas around. i have seen her style b4 trust me. even that hairstyle of hers. girls were wearing that shit 5 years ago in the city. don’t get wrong, i’ve seen HAMs as well but nyc is definitely known for killing it in the style arena. plus we’ve got an abundance of models so yea, i’ve seen 5’10″ pretty girls with flawless skin around here as well. i’m used to it. she does have a cool talking voice though and a nice body. most of the model chicks i see r too skinny

^^^ That’s what I love about KELIS though, you never know what to expect, she reinvents herself and express her multi-dimensionality music wise and fashion wise. This chick is too bad to stick to one niche and if she really just wanted to sell she would have sticked to a niche after maybe her 3rd album. And I know all artists want to sell, but I believe she wants to be accepted as she is. Maybe she never will or maybe she’ll be one of those artists that will get their dues years later.
@HBIC- there are fashionable chicks in every city, but they aren’t ordinary chicks. They are girls that you notice & they stand out. The average girl is not fly or 5’10 w/flawless skin lol I don’t care what city you live in (i’ve seen PLENTY of busted NY chicks that can’t dress. I just got back from NY in Oct. lol). The average chick is average/common/ordinary/lackluster lol & none of those words describe Kelis. Especially in the biz when most of her peers look the same. She COMPLETELY stands out from the r&b chick prototype.
I’ve seen Kanye’s style before w/the way he was rocking the POLO’s, but after he did it became a trend. Same w/ Kelis she’s made her style a trend, from the hair to the clothes to the attitude. I’m sure being her from Harlem contributes though, Harlem is known for setting trends lol.

bottomline, we just have a difference in opinion. her style doesn’t make her stand out in my opinion. whether you like it or not, i have seen her style in the streets waayy b4 she was rocking it therefore she did not start the trend if it had started w/o her. if u go to nyc, u might not see fashionistas swarming the streets but keep it real, the most sought after fashion designers live in the nyc. we have more fashionable ppl than any other U.S. city and that’s fact, not opinion. whenever i go to another state, ppl automatically know i am from nyc by the way i dress. she dresses like a new yorker period. you have to actually live in nyc to understand us.
btw not everyone has to think she’s perfect just b/c you do. most of the people i know, don’t even listen to her music b/c they think it lacks originality. and personally, i don’t find her that attractive but then again the only woman that would make me take a 2nd look is anjelina jolie, no homo. i guess i’m biased though b/c i have some gorgeous friends so kelis’ looks just don’t move me
