M.I.A.’s GOT THAT BIRD FLU!
Friday, February 9, 2007

This is a little different for CL, but I thought, “Hey, why not?” If you’ve never heard of her, M.I.A. is an MC from London (by way of Sri Lanka). Her debut album, “Arular” dropped in 2005 and garnered a lot of success in the United States and internationally, appearing in several US commercials, as well as ad campaigns and being banged in clubs around the world. Well, M.I.A. is back with a brand new single, entitled “Bird Flu.” This song is electric. I really love stuff like this, but then again, my taste can be kind of funky. Let me know what you guys think, because I’d love to give more updates on her project. For more information about M.I.A. and her upcoming album, log on to miauk.com or check her out on MySpace!

**DIPS INTO A JAWLA LOI ZIPPER DEM BIN**
This one is TOO MUCH. GET INTO IT IMMEDIATELY. ITS SO CONFUSING AND IT HAS NO DIRECTION, BUT IT WORKS, THIS GOES DUMB IN THE HOOD.
DEAD@ MIA getting the Panjabi Sri Lanka heads together and teaching the West Indian massive a lesson in the art of dancehall, whine, and riddim. WHU DI TUNE BE LIKE MON? PUNCH MIA!
Maya is beautiful, and her music is equally special. Everytime i hear this track i break into tribal dance and LOSE IT. Arular was genius but didnt sell well in America, so hopefully MIA will get her deserved credit with the drop of this album.
BTW, the little girl in the video is so cute. I love her adlibs…RA RA RA YAAAAAAAAAAAA! Yes East Indians!!

This song is great!! M.I.A. brought it on the first album, and now she is going to be doing big things with the new album. I can’t wait to cop the new album. And she can really perform. In a world where artists today don’t have the same originality, creativity, or talent as their predecessors; it is nice to see someone explore their creativity and create music that doesn’t have to fit into a preset category.
I am tired of the tired ass r&b that is churned out day to day by the same machine. Everyone is produced by the same producers, and has songs written for them by the same writers, it is boring…
And even if after listening to M.I.A., you aren’t ready to be feelin her music, you can at least say here is an artist doing her thing, her way, and she definitely aint boring. And listen to her lyrics! It is great to hear an artist talking about real world topics, not about “i can get another you in a second” dumb ass beyonce, if she didn’t like him..why would she brag about being able to get another one of him…
M.I.A. is a great artist, the only album I am more excited about this year is going to be Jill Scott, who is the only real vocalist out there…

Jill is most definetely not the ONLY REAL vocalist out there. Teedra MOSES runs circles around that overweight moose, but thats a different topic for another day!

Overweight moose?? Just cuz you an obese donkey does not give you credence to call talented people names… Teedra Moses has nothing on Jill Scott…teedra is pretty good, but she is not Jill Scott

My music taste is real versatile, and I kinda got with this. I could hear this beat being mixed with some other stuff. Well wishes to the artist. I liked that little boy in the video - he was doin’ the damn thang in his own li’l way…LOL

I don’t “get” her music. I guess it’s too much for me. Bucky Done Gun was my shit though! That beat was sick! I get up and dance EVERYTIME I hear that song. Other than that though, this kind of music just isn’t my style.

Wack..her voice is always on some high pitch shyt…and i read the lyrics to this song..and what the hell is she talking bout..no direction for sure..her past songs where stupid too..”I put salt on my mango?”..
I think people are dying to hear something different because of so many wack artists but sometimes different does not make it dope..

Get into these lyrics for the track. They make ALOT OF SENSE, sadly MIA’s music is not for everyone. Not for nothing, but she usually only appeals to intellectuals and eccentric-esque individuals! So THAT basically shuts down any claims that people are looking for something creative, and because there is nothing CREATIVE/ORIGINAL on the music scene, we are settling for anything. NOT!
Bird Flu
M.I.A.
BIG on the underground
what’s the point of knocking me down?
everybody knows
I’m already good on the ground
most of us stay strong
shit don’t really bound us
then I go on my own
making bombs with rubber bands
I have my hard down
so I need a man for romance
streets are making em hard
so they selfish little roamers
jumpin’ girl to girl
make us meat like burgers
when I get fat
I’ll pop me out some leaders
A protocol to be a Rocawear model?
it didn’t really drop that way
my legs hit the hurdle
A protocol to be a rocker on a label?
it didn’t really drop that way
our beats were too evil
but I put away paper for later so I’m stable
a better something better come
so I could get cable
ghetto pops, food drops
I store them in my stable
I cook em up , pop em down
eat me it off ya a table
The village got on the phone
said the street is comin’ to town
they wanna check my papers
see what I carry around
credentials are boring
I burnt them at the burial ground
don’t order me about
I’m an outlaw from the badland
put away shots for later
so I’m stable
live in trees chew on feet
watch lost on cable
bird flu gonna get you
made it in my stable
from the crap you drop
on my crop when they pay you.
PUNCH THEM MISS MAYA ARULPRAGASM. Continue to create songs that reach over the average homo sapien’s brain!!!
And NUMBER 13, CoolieRasta, i know exactly how Jamaicans whine and grind to the riddim (i live in NY, second home of West Indians) but you must admit, the East Indian crew are setting the Jamaicans to the side with this tune!

NewAgePrep is kinda right, if you like the current rap-crap you probably won’t like MIA. She’s popular with the NY/LA Indie scene and overseas. She is a really pretty girl with a nice body that happens to sing about political/environmental issues, that throws people off. Not fond of the bird flu song, but like her other stuff.
