‘Black Snake Moan’ stars Samuel L. Jackson & Christina Ricci at the premiere on Monday
‘Black Snake Moan’ has been buzzing all around Hollywood with it’s controversial plot surrounding a black religious blues singer who takes a wild lost white girl under his wing by chaining her up and dragging her wherever he goes. I’ve heard about this film for some time now, but didn’t see the trailer until I went to the movies last weekend.
Although the preview at first glance seemed out of bound, and almost humorous – the plot intends to have a deeper and much more serious meaning. Many critics have already claimed this film to be well worth seeing and thought provoking, along with praising the performances from the stars – Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Justin Timberlake.
I bet it’s a hella mo’ better than watching some snakes on a plane anyway…check out the trailer after the cut.

this movie is part of a larger problem of this director, the same one who directed hustle and flow, making these ridiculous movies that make people in the south seem totally backward, uneducated, morally corrupt, drug-addicted, and completely racially divided. this is utter and complete bs, a really bad representation of the deep south.
im not saying the movie is bad, as i havent seen it like everyone else, but this is just another bad trend of negative southern depictions and stereotypes.

I think Sam Jackson has put out at least one movie a year every year since Jungle Fever. I could be wrong but I think I’m right. He is THE hardest working black man in Hollywood. Get ‘em Sam!

As the trailer shows, the girl is a sex addict. Sam Jackson’s character thinks she has a sex demon and is keeping her on that chain to keep her from being able to get out to have sex. He thinks he’s gonna cure her.
Ok, I’m glad I’m not alone in thinking this movie’s trailer seemed disturbing. I watched it online the other night. I considering going to see it. Hope I want be disappointed.

I don’t know about this movie. I just don’t get why he has her chained up. If number 32 is right then that make the movie seem a little more sensible. I wish they’d say something about that in the preview so people won’t think this is just a dumb movie about a guy chaining up a girl. Not sure if I’m going to see it, I want to though just to see why he chained her up.

I read something about this movie recently and #32 hit the nail on the head. I don’t see how it can make the South look any worst than what people who haven’t or have seen for themselves. that website, ghettohotmess.com (or whatever it’s called) does it enough. If you believed every single thing we saw in a movie about a certain geographic location, no one would leave there homes.
