‘Black Snake Moan’ stars Samuel L. Jackson & Christina Ricci at the premiere on Monday
‘Black Snake Moan’ has been buzzing all around Hollywood with it’s controversial plot surrounding a black religious blues singer who takes a wild lost white girl under his wing by chaining her up and dragging her wherever he goes. I’ve heard about this film for some time now, but didn’t see the trailer until I went to the movies last weekend.
Although the preview at first glance seemed out of bound, and almost humorous – the plot intends to have a deeper and much more serious meaning. Many critics have already claimed this film to be well worth seeing and thought provoking, along with praising the performances from the stars – Samuel L. Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Justin Timberlake.
I bet it’s a hella mo’ better than watching some snakes on a plane anyway…check out the trailer after the cut.
I agree with whoever said this is exactly what Britney Spears needs.

It’s a God fearing old man that thinks that this girl was put in his path by god to “cure her” of her nymphomania. And he believes that chaining her up and keeping her from the men she’s addicted to will cure her.
His intentions are good but the execution is bad.

I’m sorry , but I mean this movie has been very clear from the get go what it was about. He is trying to cleanse her from being a sex addict and NO he is not going to get with her. I mean I’ve seen the trailer a dozen times on tv. So I don’t see anything disturbing in that.
well if the kkk and neo-nazis don’t use this film to advertise on their site’s i’ll be shocked. and i have a problem with the imagery of any woman (of any color) being chained up by a man (of any color) in the first place. and i agree with the previous poster of perpetuating ridiculous stereotypes about the south with movies like these.
@angu why does a woman or anybody else need to cured from being promiscuous? and wouldn’t you say that the idea of promiscuity is relative anyway? what’s too much for one person is fine for another, i would say this guy’s intention is domination, and he’s using religion as a crutch/beard for doing something truly evil.

I love Sam as an actor, but some of his choices lately are questionable. I’m not feelin the whole chained up woman scenario, its a lil creepy.

I wanted to see this movie when I first heard about it a year ago,and ever since I’ve seen the trailer,I want to see it even more now!It totally reminds me of all those entertaining Blaxploitation flicks thatr I’m soooo fond of.I mean,c’mon y’all…everything can’t be all I have a dream or Lift every voice and sing,or it would be BORING!!!That is why it is a movie,therefore,derived from fiction,therefore–NOT REAL!!!Besides,Sam has to pay his bills somehow!Let’s support this beautiful black man and go see it!!

Christina Ricci plays a damn sex addict and Samuel Jackson keeps her chained up just like another poster said. And Justin Timberlake supposedly plays Ricci’s fiance in the movie. He wants to help her, not bang her back out with his long ‘black snake’. It’s always the immature and stupid people typing shit like that. Anyway, I’d see the movie because I love Samuel L. Jackson. He is the man!
As far as this movie making the south look like crap, I really could care less. I wouldn’t live in the south if I had a gun held to my head telling me to move down there. I don’t care how much the south has ‘changed’ over the years. Racism and class are still major factors in determining how things go in America, and some of you wonder why shit still stays the same and hasn’t really changed much. Peace to you folks.
