stars of ‘Pride’ attended the Lionsgate screening of the film last night
Based on true events, “Pride” tells the story of Jim Ellis (played by Terrence Howard), a schoolteacher in the 1970s who changed lives forever when he founded an African-American swim team in one of Philadelphia’s roughest neighborhoods. Sure it looks like your occasional “good Black film”, but screeners suggest that the movie is pretty inspiring and far better than what it appears as in it’s preview. Stars also include Bernie Mac and handsome newcomer Kevin Phillips.
Plus there’s Evan Ross running around in a speedo…so, there’s a bit of humor in the movie too. Trailer after the cut…
I was there yesterday it was sweet.. Terrence Howard and the newcomer Kevin was looking good but Evan Ross didn’t even show the fans any love, oh well, he is still gonna get paid.

They did a preview at my school (A&T), it was great. Although it did just seem like a swim version of Coach Carter, it was still VERY inspiring. Soundtrack is great… old 70s music.

I don’t care what nobody says, Evan Ross is Michael Jackson’s son. He wasn’t picked as Diana’s protege for no reason.
Evan Ross needs to do the following things:
1. Get into the sunlight. He is too pale for a mixed person.
2. EAT! Boy needs some greens, chicken, tea, something! Eating gives you color in the face, which takes me back to point 1, he is too pale.
3. Hit the gym, too dang skinny! Which goes back to point 2, which leads back to point 1, he needs some color in his face.
4. The barbershop can do wonders!
5. A stylist. He has got an older sister who is famous. Ask Tracee for help man!

i’m sorry but evan ross is scary looking to me. it’s not the paleness b/c i’ve been attracted to paler guys. it’s that he’s just not cute, he has such a feminine face it’s weird. he does remind me of michael but not the cute pre-surgery michael, the ugly post-surgery one is more like it

Jim Ellis was my 10th Grade Geometry teacher. I went to High School in Philadelphia where he was a teacher for years at Bodine High School, and a great one. He was the coolest teacher. He was always straight pimpin in fly cars like that retired, I got my tenure style some teachers do. Its crazy though because none of us ever knew about his swim coaching. My school was so academically geared that we didn;t even have a track team. I saw the story about him on like access hollywood or something and was so proud to be like yo thats Mr. Ellis. This is crazy. Anywho I’m definitely gonna see it.

um i was there to and the only known celebrity that was an ass was bernie who decided that talking for a half hour to the camera person was more important then spending a few minutes to sign autographs to people who had been freezing for the past 2 hrs. evan was a complete sweetheart.he shook hands and signed autographs w/ me and my friends after we called him over.maybe its because we were the few ones that called him Evan (his name) and not ATL. Terrence was the hero of that night though,bernie couldve learned a thing or too on how to treat the people who support you,that man won major cool points with me,as did the Reverend Gregory (Clifton Davis) from Amen,lol he was super nice too.

I love the film company Lionsgate. They, more than others, tend to support black movies that other larger film companies (Paramount, Universal, etc) won’t touch. Instead those larger companies put out some trash movie like ‘Lake House’ and market the hell out of it even though it’s awful.
Plus, Lionsgate produces a lot of crazy horror movies. And I loves me up some horror movies.

I actually saw the movie at an early sceeening and I must say I am extremely impressed. The preview does the movie NO justice.

There are a lot of movies who’s trailors don’t do it justice at all. Some even give out a completely different vibe on the whole entire thing. This looks like one of them. I might go see this, or wait until it comes on DVD or Demand…cause you know nowadays, you look around and OP there it go.
