Attention all Musiq Soulchild fans! I will be interviewing the musician later on this week, and wanted to know if you had any questions for him. Of course I cannot use them all, but I will select some of the best ones.
IM SECOND…. WOW THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE… I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAS HE BEEN UP TO THE LAST COUPLE YEARS BESIDES WORKING ON HIS NEW ALBUM… THANKS
I got a qestion for Musiq! Musiq, what was your inspiration for making such a wack ass song such ass “Buddy”? Furthermore, the use of the song “Heartbeat” as a sample is so 1980′s.. I expected more from a talented guy like yourself.
P.S. I know this question will never be posed to Musiq, and in all likelihood will be deleted and maybe I will be banned! Heavens no! What shall I do..
I noticed U been one of the artist selected to play @ Prince 3121 club in Vegas. Have U taking any advice from Prince about going Independent and selling your “muziq” online. Because I think record companies are going to be nonexistent by the end of this decade. Thx I’m a big fan
If you see fit to select my question please ask him who his greatest musical inspiration is. And congrats on snagging this interview. He’s one of the few artists I care to hear/read an interview about. Unlike some others I know I won’t get the usual “Nah Mean” and “Nah Whut I’m Sayin”. He’ll probably have something intelligent to say.
I love me some musiq soulchild. My favorite song from him is “Crazy”. Can you ask him what can we expect on his new cd? and lol @ meatloaf, he does look like ol’ Colely Cole on Martin.
Woode29 said: P.S. I know this question will never be posed to Musiq, and in all likelihood will be deleted and maybe I will be banned! Heavens no! What shall I do..
OK. I got one more, Ask him what he thinks about attaining commercial success. Does he think it’s fleeting? Does he want to be a commercial success or is he happy being known as a Neo Soul artist that fewer people can appreciate? What does he think about titles like that (Neo-Soul)?
why was his promotional tour so disapponting?
Its been reported all over internet, in several cities.
I saw him at Rams Head and he ran (didn’t sing)from the mic all night!!! We understood it was a promotional tour, wich he repeatedly said, even if he sung two songs…it should have been much better.
Okay, I think his new single is quite funky, but I’m curious to know:
He speaks that a ‘Buddy’ is ‘a different type of commitment’. Does he care to elaborate on what kind of commitment that is? Just sex partners? Just friends? Or Both?
Please ask Musiq if he will be at Essence Music Festival again, and if so, tell him I said to tell them they need to put him on the main stage and not the d**m coca cola lounge, because he is too fly for that sh**. It was too crowded in that little corner and i couldn’t even get a glimpse of my FAVORITE artist…
a while back on 106th he stated that he was dropping the “Soulchild” from his name. Y did he think that was neccessary, and i see that he kept it the way it is. personally i think Soulchild fits him accurately.
1.) Does being from Philly make an impact on the music he writes? (You know how sometimes people say their life and where they grew up, shows in their music)
2.) Who are some celebrities he would like to work with? Any out of his genre?
The game has changed since he came on the scene, what will he do to stay relevant? There are madd dudes out there vying for our attention (Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Omarion, Ray J, Tank, Bobby Valentino, Mario, Sammie, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Jaheim, Joe, Marques Houston, etc.) That’s one CROWDED ass field!
How does he feel about the whole “sunglasses all the time” image thng and the eye thing? Does it make him more concious or is he accepting of his and other’s flaws.
And Definitely address the whole INDIA.ARIE phase of his life, because we all wanna know fo real.
I, like many other women, want to know if he indeed has a child and a girlfriend? Because it was a rumor I heard awhile ago and just wanted to get some clarification on.
Question:
Having listened to all of his albums to date, it seems most of his songs sound like they are sung right from the heart, and a lot of emotion can be felt when listening. I was wondering if that meant that a lot of his songs were personal to him, and so I guess my question would be if Musiq has any influences that he draws from when writing/performing?
and also why doesn;t he have spaces in his song names lol
Please come back to Phoenix, AZ. You have more fans here than you realize and unfortunately, this city does a poor job of supporting urban music. WE NEED YOU HERE!
@19 I agree. I just saw him two weeks ago in Norfolk, VA and he was HORRIBLE. He only sang 4 of his own songs and the rest of the night he say James Brown, Gerald Levert, D’angelo and the band just played and played. His singing was off and he is not Gerald Levert or D’angelo. Then he was trying to dance like James Brown and he can’t dance. I love Musiq, I have all 3 of his albums, but I was very disappointed with his show. He needs to step his game up. I am definitely put off buying his album until I hear the whole thing.
sup Angel la–from one journalist to another, you are doing a great job on these interviews. i particularly enjoyed the john legend scoop….
here’s my QUESTION for Musiq: Many fans have been praying for years for that perfect neo-soul music tour, with people like you, Jill Scott, the Roots, Bilal, India.Arie, etc on the lineup. Is there any possibility we could get that in the near future?
When did he realize that music was what he wanted to do?
and in the middle of the professional questions, just slide something in about him and india arie and ask why they broke up. he won’t notice. be discreet and say it quickly so that he’ll answer without thinking
Ask him what he thinks about the state that R&B is in today? What he is bringing new to the table this time around? And also tell him Thanks for keeping his glasses on.
I would like to know about some of the things he has learned that have surprised him since entering the music industry (regarding business). Lots of people think you get to where he is and it’s all fame and glory, but I want to hear about some of the lessons along the way. And tell him that his song “Love” is genious. Thanks.
Like everyone else I want to know what happen between him and India. That could have been a beautiful (in soul) couple and they would have had brilliant soulful children.
Also, What was/is up with him and that backup singer of his. I think they we’re sisters or twins. Are they dating?
QUESTION: Recently, you were in Dallas, TX doing a concert. I was there, and you said Dallas was one of the better cities as far as who knew and bought your music. Was that a true statement or were you just trying to make us feel good?
QUESTION: Being at the Dallas concert, I had a great time, the music was nice, you sounded great but alot of the fans kinda of felt like they didnt get enough of Musiq. For one, you were an hour late coming out then you didnt sing enough of your own songs. I, personally, I was just hype that night and I loved it all but I definitely understand what everyone was talking about. So your next wave of tours, will you be performing longer than an hour with your own material?
Q. As an artist whose created 3 classic albums and is primarily responsible for creating the births of dozens of little rugrats since 2000, how many years do you think you can/want to continue putting out music at this high level and if you could take a guess how many albums would that equate to?
Your albums seem to follow some type of pattern of whats real in a relationship. I like the honesty in your songs. But why does every first single off your albums deal with trying to become “friends” or “buddies”? Are you seeing anyone right now that would give you this type of inspiration when writing?
Question: Ask him why his hair get straighter and the girls get lighter with every new album? His first video “just friends” he had a fro and a brown woman. Then he had an S-Curl thing going on then he had a cesar type perm. Did he feel pressure from his label to change up?
I have a question for him Angel. He was scheduled to perform here in South Africa with Will Downing some time last year but he didn’t pitch up and we were told that he “missed his flight”. Most of us didn’t believe that, please ask him what was the real reason he didn’t make it to South Africa to please his millions of fans here.
Another question, the last album, Soulstar, wasn’t as successful as the the previous 2, especially the debut album. What is it that he has done in Luvanmusiq that will propel him back to the standard he set out with his debut album? When he did that album, was he conscious of the fact that he had to come out hard to reclaim his throne, if I may?
Another question…a while back he said that he was dropping the Soulchild from his name to symbolise his growth as an artist. Why has he decided to add back the Soulchild? Is it because of the title of the album, so that it appleals/sounds right
1. I know you are musically influenced by the late great Donny Hathaway. Have you ever made an attempt to do a collaboration or something musical with his daughter, Lalah, who is still actively pursuing music?
2. What happened with your situation over at Island/Def Jam, and is that move what prompted your decision to do more mainstream R&B on your latest album?
This should be good… im first yeah
I love Musiq soulchild. Can’t wait for his new Album to drop!
cool
IM SECOND…. WOW THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE… I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HAS HE BEEN UP TO THE LAST COUPLE YEARS BESIDES WORKING ON HIS NEW ALBUM… THANKS
LOL@2nd…that’s y i just post
QUESTION: What was his inspiration for this album?
My Question: Is He Dating Anyone At The Moment, Whats His Preference When It Comes To Dating Women?…
Does He Write His Own Material?
Who Are His Past-Influences In The Music Industry?
Wow! Ne-Yo, and now Musiq? This is a great oppotunity, Angel. Congrats!
Okay, what has he been doing in the last couple of years?
WHAT KIND OF BUDDY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?
I love Musiq…had purchased the bootleg yet?? If so, how does it sound. I will wait to get it from Best Buy..
Ask him why he let them put him up to singing the National Anthem? lol
Ask him if he ever plans on colaborating on a project with the worlds hottest female singer….ahhh….oh yeah…her name is Beyonce’ Knowles!
And, ask him if anyone ever says he looks like “Cole” for the Martin Lawrence Show?? lol
I got a qestion for Musiq! Musiq, what was your inspiration for making such a wack ass song such ass “Buddy”? Furthermore, the use of the song “Heartbeat” as a sample is so 1980′s.. I expected more from a talented guy like yourself.

oh I loooove Musiq! I got a question. Is there anyone in the music industry that you haven’t work with yet that you would love to work with?

Angel Please ask him, What new music is he feeling?

that was my question by the way Angel ^
Can I be greedy? lol I have 2 questions.
1.) Does being from Philly make an impact on the music he writes? (You know how sometimes people say their life and where they grew up, shows in their music)
2.) Who are some celebrities he would like to work with? Any out of his genre?
I wanna know Does he want to be called Musiq or Musiq Soulchild?
Cuz a few years ago ..he said he was dropping the Soulchild…
ask him how he got so swole up in the face only?i know the camera adds pounds but he looks riddiculous in the Buddy video
ask him why he chose to make such generic music this time around?
ask him what he thinks of the male RnB artists out there like John Legend & Robin Thicke who seem to have taken over that Musiq/Maxwell niche
I saw him when he was in Houston, TX at Joe’s Crab Shack on 610 Freeway. When is the next time he will be back in Houston?

Question:
If you could choose any clebrity right now to be your “buddy” who would it be?
LOL

QUESTION: Kindly ask him what philosophy he lives by.
I, like many other women, want to know if he indeed has a child and a girlfriend? Because it was a rumor I heard awhile ago and just wanted to get some clarification on.

ahhhh! so love musiq!
Hey Angel La! I have a question for Musiq:
A lot of people are saying that hip-hop is dead, or that it’s dying. Is it safe to say the same thing about R&B and soul?
I can’t wait for this…..such a fan…and I can’t wait til the cd drops….he has been missed in the industry….

What are his goals for the future?

lol oooh i love these interviews.
Hey chica,
Ask muziq:
Like everyone else I want to know what happen between him and India. That could have been a beautiful (in soul) couple and they would have had brilliant soulful children.
Also, What was/is up with him and that backup singer of his. I think they we’re sisters or twins. Are they dating?
