Media titan Oprah Winfrey is throwing her considerable weight behind Barack Obama’s bid to become America’s first black president after dismissing public opinion suggesting she should make a run for office.
Winfrey admits she’s a huge fan of Obama’s opponent and fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton, but Obama has her vote.
Speaking on Ellen DeGeneres’ chat show today, Winfrey admits, “I’m feeling Barack.” She continues, “I don’t just love him. I respect him. I think he’s a fresh new voice in politics. I think what he can do for this country would be amazing.”
Winfrey has spent the past four years dismissing reports she’s planning a political charge for the White House.

OPRAH FOR PRESIDENT ’08
Paint the White House Black!
Obama for President!!!
hopefully she can back him financially as well
With Oprah behind him, he can’t lose!!
I have my hands tied! It doesn’t matter who wins as long as Obama or Hilary takes the white house…either would be historical
whatever, she always has to put her two piggie cents in everything, she is almost as bad as Jessie Jackson
Agreed with no.#2 , The Black House!!!. I wish Oprah would run maybe 2012. I would love for her to take over. America could use her guidance as well.
Love,Peace,&&Honeyy
bout damn time to, either way the election go we cant complain..but i would be nice to have a brutha as president.
DOES SHE WEAR LACE FRONTS?
Wow, this is big! Oprah has this country wrapped around her finger, literally! With Oprah behind him, I seriously do not see him losing … she influences so many peoples’ decisions when it comes to just about damn near everything! It’s pretty scary if you ask me…
BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!! HE HAS MY VOTE!!
ohhhhhh how i wish he will win but you know this is white america and they ain’t ready!!!!im supporting obama though fa sho
Well was there any question. I personally think Obama needs to build his rep as a Senator first and then run in 2012. So give me another 8 years of Clinton, life was good from 1992-2000!
lol@ #10
go obama! i already ordered my obama t shirt and pin
What would be the be all end all, is each of them would agree to pick the other as a running mate should the other not win the nomination. Talk about a win-win situation. Troops would be home, Osma found, Blacks AND women in the er House getting down!! (We’d have to shorten the name for a couple or 4 years! LMAO!!!! Go get em Dems . . .
Barack is the best!
It is sooo funny for someone to compare Oprah to Jesse. Those are two different situations. Oprah is a journalist it is her job to be where the news is…and we should commend her status in a positive way. She is very influential to society so by supporting Barack he has secured quite a few more housewives under his belt.
Go Barack!
I’m gonna try and not come back to read this post cause the last Barack post had quite a few very interesting (ignorant) comments that made me lay prostrate at the alter and pray for our folks.
@#2
LMAO
Go Obama and he has my Vote. No Oprah doesn’t wear lace fronts not every Black woman with good hair is a chicken head.
Oprah is too classy to wear lacefronts.
no it’s just weave. that’s not her hair b/c i remember one of her shows where she kept touching her short ponytail and saying she loved it because it was real. it wasn’t as full as the hair in this pic. she still has nice hair though. it was really shiny and not that short-maybe shoulder-length or a little shorter than that. happy she got it back b/c her hair fell out when she was younger
anyway though i luv obama, he needs more experience. i think hilary has more experience b/c she’s been in the White House b4 and i know she helped Bill on some issues. Obama should run next time though. highly doubt he’s going to win.
I LOVE OPRAH!!!!!!
the growup me:Barack 4 president.Hes amazing,intelligent,and Beautifully Black….
the imature me:He is fine as I dont know what 4 an older guy.He looks like Oprah’s type 2….watch out now!lol~
@ 4…I’m w/ u…let’s see Ms. Winfrey shove out the DOUGH to really “support”! This is a great start for Obama because Oprah is a “savior” in many “European’s” eyes…
lol @#2
Oprah is doin big things..and im supporting her.
@#22 LOL
I could sign up for an internship at the White House for that!
cant wait 2 vote, im in the military & im tired of goin 2 iraq!!! lol
shit can i stay home?!?!?
LMAOOOOOO@2
I HOPE SO TOO#4
UM SO NOW THAT OPRAH HAS BACKED HIM NOW ITS ALL GOOD??? CHICK PLEASE, IM SCARED IF OPRAH RUNS SHE WILL WIN CUS US WOMEN OUT NUMBER THE MEN IN THIS COUNTRY THEN IT WOULD BE FREE LIFETIME TELEVISION FOR EVERYBODY…OH HELL NAW LMAOOOOOO
We have and had Condoleeza and Powell in higher position in the government, and they didn’t do anything for the poor or the minority community. Show me some actions. I haven’t decided on who I’m gonna vote for, because I want to look at the track record of every candidate. It would be stupid for me to vote for Obama because he’s black. Not saying that’s everyone’s reason, but let’s be real. Now, Someone who would shut down everyone is Al Gore. He’s still out there doing what he said he would do, it didn’t matter if he became President or not. I like a lot of the work Hillary Clinton has done before she decided to run for President.
Oh well……..
J.Dilly
damn people… you know what i find absolutely disturbing?? that this post (regarding a possible future president, and one of the world’s most powerful women) gets less discussion than nick cannon’s elope-spoof in vegas.
yall so busy in other people’s business (who dont give a damn about you) so easy for yall to type half a page worth of your 2-cents as to why nick cannon shouldn’t have married this girl, dated that girl, got a damn pre-nup… but at the most will type a single line, if any, about this topic? i don’t see nick cannon, beyonce, or usher tackling this nation’s problems.
damn people, it’s your future here. get it together.
Oprah took the words right outta my mouth. I am also voting for Barack Obama and I feel African Americans should all stick together on this one too. We have to stand for something great if were hoping to get a positive outcome from this.
I like to see speeches and campaigns first before i decide my vote.
i dnt knw abut this! But dat kl! Dont get too haps tho cos African Americans only make up 13 per cent of US. So we all should consider what other ethnic ppl in Usa want too not just wat the african americans want.
What does Hillary have to say about this? I know she thought for sure she had Oprah’s vote. I think Hillary will still have a large turnout with the female vote, but Barack has the Black AND female vote. It just goes to show how much political influence we hold even when we’re not in the office. Look at me being all astute this early in the morn’ting.
cosign with j.dilly 28, u took the words right out of my mouth.
barack seems like a nice, charasmatic guy. if he does win i hope he doesnt do a condoleeza on african-americans cus thats possible.
i really do wish oprah did run, shes the only female and ethnic who blacks, whites, yellows, browns, male and females (in particular) would vote for.
people of every nationality and creed love her. lol
though barack has oprahs vote im not sure if that can seal him the victory. i mean she supported the film “something new” but still no housewives went to see that. lol. plus lots of whites wont vote for him cus of his lack of experience and he has muslim origins (stupid reason but some people ar still claiming hes a muslim).
anyhoo i hope the best man/woman wins, u shouldn;t just vote for some1 cus there black, its the equivalent of not voting for some1 cus there black. vote for the best policies, who u think will be active and actualise theyre policies.
I don’t feel like Barack Obama really represents the people……..i’d rather vote for Senator…shes one big politician, with alot of experience when it comes to politics and she truly has what it takes to turn this country around, i think barack needs 2 gain more experience
Until Hilrary admits that she made a mistake in voting for us to go to war she does not have my vote. i will be watching this election closely.
For the people who are saying that Obama needs more experience, please. We have the dumbest president sitting in the office. Prior to becoming Predsident, Bush ran every single one of his companies into the ground and now he’s doing the same with the country. I’d rather have Obama who is intelligent, open and ready to take the country in a different direction then someone with “experience” any day. OBAMA 08′ Bitches!!!!
WOW. That was a very smart move, whomever thought about having Oprah endorse him! Very clever. Love it!
OBAMA 2008!!
Just seeking insight here…
I am a Obama and H. Clinton fan. I was waiting for the day that Hilary could run- adn then out of nowhere comes Obama! I had my ballot SET to vote for Hilary but now I’ve found that for me personally, my race overrides my gender in regards to who my loyalty is to. I was just wondering what you all thought about the politics of race for black women. How are other women of color making thier choice in the matter?
I’d also like to say that I am proud that we’re speaking about politics and not what video chick is wearing a lacefront! LOL
I’m with O.
Hillary Clinton is an opportunistic bitch. She is no more fit to run this country than the current President. I lost total respect for her and her husband when they came here to Atlanta and basically made Mrs. King’s funeral some kind of political showdown! I’d rather vote for a Republican than put her in the white house!
I don’t care what their race or sex is. I want the person who’s gonna cut these taxes and help me pay back some of these student loans to win!!!!
^^^ there’s one thing you forgot. the ppl who are talking about Obama not having enough experience (I, for one, think so) did not vote for Bush (at least I didn’t). Bush was too dumb to the President and how ppl didn’t see that, idk. to make your point valid, you would have to say that to someone who actually voted for Bush but then said Obama wasn’t experienced b/c they’re being hypocritical
at the end of the day, i don’t think you should just vote for someone because they’re black. i understand that african-americans (i’m caribbean-american so i don’t put myself in this group) want to suppoert one of their own, but that’s just plain ignorant and stupid. you have to vote for the best regardless of race. now if you vote for him because you think he’s the best, great, but if you think that all african-americans should vote for him based solely on race, that’s unacceptable
I gree with #36. PLUS he effed his way into Harvard(or Yale, I think). People talk about banning Affirmative Action….but its clear to everyone money DOES have its priveledges.
How can anyone let the race of a candidate dictate their vote? So what if Obama’s black? Should I vote for him just cause I’m black? Stop that “We got to stick together shit.” Cause at the end of the day Obama won’t really be doing anything for me anyway. He has to look out for the entire country’s interest…not just one group. And here people are saying they’ll vote for him just cause he’s black while on other sites people are saying he’s not black enough. People gotta stop looking at race when trying to figure out which candidate will make the best president. I’m with whomever said Al Gore would be best. That man hasn’t quit. He’s still doing what needs to be done to get people (celebrities and us regular folk) to do more for the environment. Al Gore for president.
A lot of posts have made valid counterpoints to those of us who say BO has not had enough political experience. However, I stand by my contention that he does not. It is not useful to compare his inexperience to GWB’s mediocrity, lack of intelligence or inability to run this country. I would say that is EXACTLY why we should be even more careful in choosing our next president. BO has the potential to be a contender, but he should have waited until 2012. By that time he could have built a stronger federal track record, solidified his views on crucial policy issues such as international trade and public education, and garnered stronger support from middle/upper class blacks, middle/lower class whites, and moderates of all races who tend to lean to the left.
I got mad faith in him & Hilary Clinton too, not sure which one I’ll end up voting for. Anyhow, he does look like a great face for president of 08′, but oh man, I’m pretty sure America as a whole won’t agree to that at all.
I cosign with michelle.
if african americans start this whole, “I’m voting for him because of his race” it contradicts everything we stand for. He, Obama, is out to represent the countries interest, for all race in this country. Not just the african american interest/black people. we cant just assume because he might make history we should vote. We need to look @ his platform his ideas, his standing in issues, such as foreign policies, health care, education etc.
What country are we if we did that?!
We would be going back to the days when race matter so much that we were treated like second class citizens.
I wish I’d seen the Oprah interview. My question is why is Oprah endorsing Obama? Hopefully, not just because he’s a Black person. What are his positions? All the candidates say they’ll end the war. But how. I guess I’ll have to check out Obama’s web site to see what his views are. I’m not sure I’d vote for him yet. Also, what do the ladies on this site think of Hillary? Would you vote for her? I have many women friends and know only two or three women who would vote for her. I’m a Democrat but I listen to a lot of Convervative radio and they’re always bashing Obama and Hillary.
Oprah is just putting in her bid for World Domination. That’s ALL that is! Once she has the President under her thumb, her plans will begin!
MWAAA HAAA HAAA HAAA!…
http://www.blackbeatpress.com
who eva win the primaries, i will vote for…but i rather see obama in the white house. I DONT think ill vote for him b/c hes black(b/c alot of whites like him 2) but he can hella help out blacks to strive, dream and let the community know that we are capable of doing anything b/c blacks are so damn iggy these days and need a leader. he does not lack political experience, every president has some disability, i dont have a problem b/c anybody can say anything(like Hilary or Obama)and not do it. although she did vote for the war, that is one disadvantage. the mains one voted for bush should suffer cause they asses in iraq. anyways, i dont know whats she or obama has done in their career but whatever…and yes that man is fine and has a brain of a scholar….OBAMA 08!
#38, u took the words outta my mouth, would u vote for a lady if she was black??? race is everything people, lets not forget that. thats why most of us stick together.
Wait Wait Wait Black folk, stop the presses. It is time for us to think for ourselves. I love Oprah and have defended her on many occassions but I hope people don’t vote for Mr. Obama because she is supporting him. I hope our people are much more engaged in the political process than that.
I have not decided who I will vote for considering the election is over a year and half away. But if it were held today, I would be all behind Mrs. Clinton simply because of the experience factor. Our country is at a VERY VERY vulnerable place and time, and IMO experience must take presidence over charm and hope. It is true that our current President was relatively inexperienced but that doesn’t mean it was right. In fact I believe his inexperience has played a major role in why we are in the position we are in now, and quite frankly, I am not thrilled about the possibility of our next President entering the office with that same inexperience badge.
I love Barrack Obama as well, and my voting for him isn’t totally out of the cards, but being in the most powerful position on the planet requires much more than a particular skin color and charisma IMO. Our country is in too vulnerable a place in the world to place such weight on hope. Give me some experience with that hope. Until he can change my mind, I’m for Clinton 08′ and Obama 2012.
We ALL need to back Obama…lets all come together to aid one of our own! I hope everyone (especially those of black descent) support Obama…
I’m not votng for Obama because he’s black, I’m voting for Obama because he is intelligent, uplifting, and I truly believe he can bring this country together, and bring international respect back to the United States
KENYAN. LIKE ME. even tho he’s half kenyan. whateva i’m all for a black president and he seems like he knows what he’s doing. yeaya!!
I happen to think that Oprah is right. Obama is the new voice of politics. I think he can have a successful campaign if the rich and famous back him up. His campaign is going to be expensive. They predict the presidentail campaign can run up to a billion dollars.
I hope that people listen to what he has to say and what he can offer to this country because he has some wonderful innovative ideas. Young people you want to hear what this man has to say as far as how we should approach education reform. healthcare and economy. He has had an answer to the most important issues we face today. Since bush has been in office I have not heard what we can do to fix our problems and that is because the man is short of riding the short yellow school bus. We literally have an idiot in office and boy ohh boy it must be nice to be white, privilidged and male with those type of attributes you can become president.
@ HBIC, black people from the Caribbean originally came from Africa so really there is no difference.
My vote will definitely be for Obama in the ’08 election. I think this man is very smart and can take us in the right direction, not to mention he is an eloquent speaker, unlike our current president.
You know,I dont mean to burst some peoples’ bubble or anything but over here in the UK the papers were saying that he has been receiving death threats amongst other things. I just hope that if he does become president he’s got some good secruity cuz you never know there might be some crazy redneck outhere trying to assassinate him and that would be a shame.
I hope Black people realize Barrack Obama is NOT running against President Bush. There is no point in comparing the two.
And also in this day and time it is foolish to vote for someone based upon their race. Don’t forget, Clarence Thomas is black. This is beyond, “Voting for our own”.
# 56 has a point. And God forbid he makes a unpopular decision, like most Presidents have done at some point in their Presidency’s. Can you imagine Mr.Obama refusing to bring our troops home as most American want like the polls indicate? For Bush, his poll numbers fall but for Obama someone may try to kill him.
America has come a long way but I believe we still have a good way to go.
@#4 I’M SURE SHE WILL JUST LIKE JENNIFER ANNISTON AND OTHER CELEBS THAT CHOSEN TO BACK UP OBAMA
NO more family lines in the white house. No more Bush’s, No more Clintons, the people need something fresh and new. It may be Obama, it may not be but I’m open to hearing whatever he has to say.
So far the complaints I’m hearing about Obama are so lame:
His middle name is Hussein. -and?
His father is Muslim. -Actually his father is an Atheist and left Islam right before he came to college in the states.
Oh he did drugs. -At least he had the balls to admit itunlike coke sniffing whiskey chugging Bush. He passed it on to his daughters that’s for sure.
He has no experience. -Even better, maybe that means he won’t be in the back pocket of lobbyists.
I wonder what lame excuse the MSM will come up with next?
