Wow CL got pictures of the premiere for days! The movie looks good from the previews, I’ll definitely be in the theatre watching. The three young girls in the movie are cute. Tyler Perry, BRAVO!!!!!!

It’s good that Tasha Smith is getting a little more shine and recognition - she played the hell out of her role on “The Corner”.

It’s funny - lately I hear a lot of ’support black projects’, and I agree — we need to support Black projects. However, I think we’re reaching the point where perhaps we need to start producing more challenging films. Not that I’m in a position to criticize Tyler — cause I’m not. I respect him greatly. But I’d like to see more from directors than predictable stories which are effectively a two-hour version of the trailer.

Clearly this one will be well accepted by females of color because I think it reflects what they’d *hope* to see from males of color. So, in essence, it becomes a feel-good dream. And maybe that’s why some folks plunk down $9 plus snacks. Perhaps they’re only looking for a predictable, unchallenging, “can-you-make-me-feel-good” made-for-tv level movie. (Not saying this is one — haven’t seen it yet.)

I probably will wait for this one on video. But for the sake of pushing the art, I’m hoping for a bit of a twist. I hope I’m wrong and there’s more to this movie than: Man and woman have kids early….man and woman separate….woman uses kids visitation against man…. courts rule against man…. man really loves kids and looks for representation…. man meets attractive lawyer…. blue collar man and white collar woman become attracted to each other…. what begins as an effort to get kids turns into the pursuit of kids and love…. movie ends with touching courtroom scene with man giving long speech about how he really wants to love his kids…. man gets either partial or full custody of kids…credits roll.

Just asking for a bit more from our film experiences. I realize this is probably a topic that has many more layers to it (including the movie studios and their willingness to support movies that might be risky). But I’d like to throw support to projects that are a bit more risque’. I know there’s someone sitting in NYU film class right now who can up the level a bit. Hoping for it soon. For once I’d like to see a film where the principal actors are of color, but who could be interchanged with characters of any race. Just my thoughts — ….

they dug up ALL of black hollywood huh?!? everyone looks nice with the exception of tisha campbell and that overhyped meagan good. i may be extra late, but i didn’t know those little girls were really sisters but i did think it was amazing that they did such good casting. they are so cute! gabby looks gorgeous as usual and tracee is always the fashionista!

I guess I don’t really see it as negativity. And it wasn’t done in the spirit of trying to be controversial or trying to sew seeds of negativity. As mentioned, I’m hoping for a good film. Perhaps someone should start a post after the movie is released so we can discuss?? (If it’s more than a 2 hour version of the trailer, not only will I go to the film, but I’ll be the first one to pick up my face right on the ‘Loop.) But somehow, I don’t think I’m going to have to.

It’s also a beautiful love story to. Tyler Perry makes good movies and gets paid serios dollars. So stop hating cause you really don’t go no where doing that, shut-up and recognize why he’s hot!
