KALIKAP…I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. I would be really nervous too. Regarding Beyonce’s hair, it looked like it had way too much product in there. It didn’t look natural at all. The dress however is worse than her hair could ever be. That dress is atrocious. I would really like for Beyonce to start dressing her age. This look is for a much more mature woman. Not that I would wish that dress on anyone, but….
SMOOVEBUTTAH…You just figured out Justin was a funny looking weasel. I could have told you that and saved you the trouble. He is such a geek. I don’t know if Beyonce was flat or not because that song simply bores me to death. I just want to know why she would sing that song in the first place. Agreed on Chris Brown. I just love that young man to pieces.
MARCUSITO…You are on FIYAH… I cannot stand CARRIE UNDERWOOD. I hated her on American Idol and now that she has become a star she acts like her shyt don’t stink. I paid very close attention to her when others won an award or performed and she acted like it would take too much to clap or smile or at least pretend like she was enjoying herself and isn’t just interested in her genre etc. She turns her nose down at people. She seems very snotty and difficult IMO.
RC…Did I miss the introduction? I turned away for a second and there was Christina singing. You would have thought the man would have gotten a formal introduction after all he contributed.
DATDUDE…I LOVE JAMES BLUNT AND JOHN MAYER. These two are so laid back. Plus, John has soul. He sounds like a much more mature person. I enjoyed both their performances. One thing I disagree with is Mary needing better music. SHE GOT 3 GRAMMYS man. How much better can she get?

to #55 janet went to the grammy’s in 2000& 2002 in 2002 she won an artists acheivement award. Janet has won 5 grammy’s so far but the grammy comitte countinues to shit on for two reason
1-superbowl
2- there was this period where the grammy’s felt they could only give awards to “true artist” and now we got songs like “my humps” winning grammy’s and beyonce winning 5 in a night. I’m hating but i’m just saying the grammy’s has become more comercial rather than being about the music itself. Janet gets nominated everytime her album comes out it’s an automatic nomination for best contemporary R&B album.

@295 Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! I thought I was the only one who noticed JHuds crocked boobies. LMAO! I love her but I was like damn! Get it together! And all the fumbling over the words. No no boo. She is still new so I try to say whatever to it.
@302 Listen bores me too. The only time I enjoyed that song was during the movie and on Oprah when she ripped that shit up! She should have performed Irreplaceable. That would have been a much better pick.
I liked JT’s first performance before the Blairwitch camera shit. That was pointless as hell.
Christina is the truth!!!

First of all as afar as performances go, I have mixed feelings. Beyonce could have done better but she was sick so that was understandable. Christina did good but they should’ve had Jennifer Hudson or Fantasia sing that song. Chris Brown had a good performance. Gnarls Barkely was ok. The Police and John Legend and nem were boring as hell. They should’ve let Prince perform again. That girl that won that contest couldn’t sing. THe bright skinned girl in the middle should’ve won. And did anybody notice that Carrie Underwood snatched the microphone from Natalie COle when she went up to accept her award? Natalie was looking like “that bitch!!!”

#89 I thought I was the only person that saw T.I. was piss that he didn’t win and I really can’t blame him. I like Luda but Release Therapy was not his best album and it wasn’t the best album of 2006. King sold more than Release Therapy. It looked like T.I. forced himself to clap for Luda.
Christina did good she know she can sing her ass off. Hell she does sing better than a lot of these black singers(i.e beyonce, ashanti, ciara need I go on).
This grammy show was alright hell it was still boring. It really didn’t matter that Beyonce had a stomach flu hell she still sounds like shit.
Mary did alright I just wish she fine something better to do to her head.
Chris Brown killed it last night with his dancing, but he needs to learn how to control his breathing. If you are gonna dance then don’t sing, if you gonna sing don’t dance hell you can’t do both at the same time.
Justin performance was wack I thought he would have done a little bit better. The girl he brought up there is pretty and can sing but dancing is not for her.

Ok I just watched the Christina performance again and she did a great job but she didn’t hit or hold those high notes well and I couldn’t understand half of what she was saying but I love the passion she put into the performance that made it. I definately think she’s one of the best vocalist of our time but she’s not on Whitneys level no one is. Christina can sing but my problem with her is she is kinda one demenstional. She belts on and sounds the same on every song. She don’t know how to switch up her vocals to match the song. That’s one thing about Beyonce that makes her stand out as a vocalist is her versatility, she can belt out a song but she can also tone it down like she did on the oscars to do classical stuff or pop. I think her and Christina are the best of our time in there age group but neither can get with Jill Scott who people always seem to over look or Marsha Ambriosa from Floetry who is without a doubt IMO the best vocalist in the industry today.

ive noticed each yr there is a female artist or group who always has their shining momemt at the awards show. in 98 it was lauryn hill ,in 99 it was whitney, 2001 it was destinys child in 2002 it was alicia, 2003-04 it was beyonce , 2005 it was mariah . and finally mary j got some damn grammys. long over due!!!!!! it was indeed her night to shine . on performances that night i have to say christina aguilera killed it,please stop the hate cause that girl can sing her ass off!!!!! chris brown performance was cool and very energetic, but he should of went home with new artist. of course mary killed it .justin and luda was cool . the police were hott, sting looks great for his age and the group still sounds exactly how they did in the 80s. old people still got it !!!! with beyonce’s performance i was kind of dissapointed. its like she held bac , which is unlike her . maybe it was the musical arrangement , or maybe she was sick and it affected her vocal ability ,cause i remember she killed it on oprah!!!!! yall know if that was jennifer hudson she would of brought the house down either way ,but bee looked great on the red carpet. almost everyone got it right this yr on the red carpet . but overall this yrs grammys was just average . it will never be like it was bac in day like in the 80s and 90s when the music was the best. ex: the micheal jackson days, etc . but i hav to say i wasnt soo disappointed . but i believe next yr will be a big one with all the long awaited comebacks from whitney, micheal, and jennifer hudson who about to do an album. i cant wait wat happens next yr becacuse 08 will come with a bang!!!!

the overexposed and overrated beyonce is being kicked down a notched. not surprised
Christina is NOT at Mariah’s (not 2006-2007 Mariah; but 1990s Mariah) or Whitney’s level yet. But she WILL get there. She’s still young and untrained and has a lot of growing room. She still did very well last night.
Umm, Christina is fARRRR better than Beyonce vocally and has much better range. Of all the yougner chicks in the game, only JHud can touch her. Alicia Keys really isn’t the strongest vocalist and is VERY limited as far as range goes
Justina Timberfake = disgusting and overrated. I can’t wait for Usher to come back and OWN him once again
Ludacris was childish and frankly pathetic in his lame attempt at insulting Oprah.

She was lovesick b/c her and jay are probabl having issues. he was MIA last night. she was MIA at his cherry coke thing and he missed some other event she did the other week too
Oh, and Tina and Matthew are hardly EVER seen together in public. I’ve heard Matt Knowles is a notorious cheater so maybe thier troubles are also what’s affecting her. they really don’t appear to be the happy clan they claim to be

Who the hell told her that mess looked alright?! They seriously need to hook up with whoever put together the Pussycat Dolls. They just flow…even though the Nicole is the main one, everybody flows.

I have not the chance to watch the Grammys. But I did hear that Justin’s performance was mediocre. The funny thing about him is that his music is produced by black producers, yet he shows disrespect for our icons (Prince, Janet). Let’s see how far his cracker ass goes without Timbaland or Pharell. He always looks a fuckin mess. Unshaven, taking Usher’s moves. Thank goodness Chris was there to show JT how we do things. I betcha his white ass was in the back with a fuckin pen and pad takin notes. Bitin bastard.
Christina looks like a Umpa Loompa with that orange tan. She can sing and I am not taking that away from her at all. I can imagine how her performance was. I am eager to catch it on youtube.
The Grammys is always boring. But the thing peoples, it has come along way. It used to be mainly white, but now, with black producers basically producing every damn thing, you are now seeing more soulful performances, songs that we can relate to, and a more diversifed genre.
I love Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Gnarls and Luda both have veneers. I don’t care for Gnarls though. He seems a bit too out there for me and I love all kinds of music, from Led Zepplin to TI. Was Pound Puppy (Tiny) there with him? I did not know her mom was white! I thought she was just very fair complexion.

Is there some type of backlash on her in the entertainment industry.
Mary J’s Be Without You was the only hit from her album yet it wins best r&b album. Get the fuck out of hear. She needs to sit her tired and wrinkled else down.
B deserves to win every fuckin nomination she got, not that nonsinging screaming bitch.
And no Im not a stan cuz I say hands down Christinia had the best performance of the night.

309, do you have any of Christina’s albums and/or have you seen some of her other performances? Christina has range out of this world. She can sing in full voice, falsetto, and go inbetween both effortlessly. Perfect example is when she sings Etta James’ At Last. She KILLS that song, brings it back to life, then kills it again. Also listen to her song Understand on Back 2 Basics.
She is the shit!!!!

Best Grammys Ever!!! The show was really well rounded, bringing together real musicians: rap, country, rock, pop, r&B, oldies… That was the epitome of a great, well put together show. Best perfomances were Corinne Bailey Rae, Legend, Mayor…an awesome trio. Shakira did her thing! Christina was great and I also enjoyed the R&B tribute with Smokie, Lionell and Chris Brown. Oh yeah and Gnarls barkeley is so weird…but Iove it. When they had the guy who came out and wrapped James Brown’s cloak around the microphone stand and had the spotlight shine on it, I was clapping so hard. I really thought that was classic. This show really showed what music is all about and I appreciated that. Artist from every corner came out and particpated and that’s what I loved. I almost cried when Mary gave her first speech…well deserved!! Also I wish Justin would have won a Grammy. His Cd is crazy and it’s still in heavy rotation. Whoever produced this years’ Grammy show deserves an Oscar. Best show yet!!!!

First let me start off by saying the Grammy’s is an extremely long and boring award show.I only watched it until 10 pm.I have no clue what all the hype was about with the Dixie Chicks they suck and they are so uncultured and rude.Beyonce stumbled on her first verse of her boring ass Listen song that shit was hilarious. The dress was ugly as shit and that hair weave or wig was sooooooo fake looking.I do not lik Carrie Underwood for some reason.I loved Mary’s performance I am mad I missed the second one with her and Luda though.I loved Mary’s speech on being successful and not burning bridges.I stood up and applauded that Go Mary!Rihanna’s dress does not look right on her she does not have the body for it plus it’s ugly as shit.Damn T.I and Common looks scumptious.I liked Corrine’s song but the performance was too long thanks to J.Legend hogging the majority of it.I still have no idea what purpose PCD’s serve.SMH Dawn from D.K. is so fugly and Chris Brown is too annoying for words.I could not watch his whole performance.

330 no she cant, that was always my problem with christina she cant drift between ranges at all. thats why she screamed like a damn banshee out of no where when she hit that falsetto note, trying to disguise it as a james brown rift , nahh.
She digood in that performance though she tore it up but usually she just does too much all through otu the song but she was goodthere. Beyonce’s performance was kind of wack it was boring and she was off Mary had me until that laaaast note I was in the kitchen when she sang that note I had to stop what I was doing to see what happened. Gnarls barkley are just the ish cant describe it no other way, to bad I alreayd seen that routine on youtube for an ovrseas performance Im sure I would have liked it more if I ahdnt already seen them do the captain ceelo army version of crazy.
I didtn appreciate havign to see all up in justins blood shot eyes in that performance he did . what was with the handi cam, hes already a funny lookin dude I didnt need the close up. AND THAT CHICK WHO WON THE CONTEST WAS WAAAAAACK. did any body notice she was the worst one out of the other 2 girls that sang the song, I swear I heard people laughing when they cut to commercial and showed her singing in the booth that whitney houston song. I KNEW she was gonna win though, somthing told me that becuase mad people were cheering for her when they mentioned her name. She had her family and freinds blow UP them telephone lines, she didnt have a good voice though.

Time magazine grading of the grammy performances:
Justin Timberlake
What Goes Around
Grade: B+
Timberlake was seducing the audience from his perch behind an upright piano—which, skeptics take note, he actually played—bouncing and winking and generally having his way with everyone in the room. Then, for no comprehensible reason, he grabbed a camcorder, held it up to his face and serenaded himself Blair Witch Style. There’s an obvious sexual metaphor here, but I’m far too modest to explain it. Let’s just say it was an unfortunate end to what was on course to be the best performance of the night.
Beyonce
Listen
Grade: A-
Beyonce stalked the stage in a diaphanous dress with flowers in her hair. She could have sung I’m Henry VIII, I Am and gotten a B. As it happens, she killed her scenery-chewing ballad from Dreamgirls, taking it for a precision ride up and down the scales
Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend and John Mayer
Like a Star/Coming Home/Gravity
Grade: C
Rae, Legend and Mayer were asked to fill six minutes of television with low energy songs—despite the fact that all of them have songbooks full of animated, uptempo numbers. Rae did a creditable job on Like a Star, but it’s not a song you can get away with playing on an acoustic guitar while sitting on a stool. Legend’s vocal from behind his piano was similarly low-key, though there was a nice moment of three-part harmony on the chorus. Mayer broke free to show off some blues guitar chops, but the whole thing was a snooze.
Mary J. Blige
Be Without You
Grade: B+
Blige always seems just a few seconds away from going totally bananas—it’s her principal charm. Her vocal was typically all over the place, but from the overwrought spoken word intro to the Shewolf, scrape-my-vocal-cords cry at the end, Blige held nothing back. Better as television than as music, but very entertaining television.
Shakira w/ Wyclef Jean
Hips Don’t Lie
Grade :A-
Shakira is James Brown if James were a Colombian woman who wore his gold lame cape low on his hips. She smiles, she moves in ways that appear dangerous to her long-term health and sings in a tremolo that grabs your ears. Reporters on the scene say that Wyclef was on-stage, too.
Gnarls Barkley
Crazy
Grade A-
Here’s how to do a slow song. Dressed as airline pilots, Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse began alone on a raised platform in the middle of the crowd. Playing dozens of beats per minute slower than on the original record, they set a dramatic tone, then moved to the main stage where a full orchestra and an army of back-up singers were waiting to join them on the chorus.
Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie and Chris Brown
Tracks of My Tears, Hello, Run It
Grade: B
Smokey’s opening was meek and sad for the wrong reasons. Lionel followed with a decent Hello, but Chris Brown blew them both away with his step show version of Run It. It was a Jackson-esque performance, in a good way.
Christina Aguilera
It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World
Grade: B-
Was this part of the previous medley? No idea, since Aguilera immediately followed Chris Brown but was never introduced. In any event, inviting X-tina to cover James Brown is just playing to her weaknesses. There’s no note Aguilera can’t turn into 10, and she predictably eradicated the melody while giving us a tour of her range. Going to her knees JB-style, though, earns her a little grade inflation.
Ludacris with Earth Wind & Fire and Mary J. Blige
Runaway Love
Grade: B+
A totally different looking Mary J. Blige—blonde highlights, red pants suit—returns to sing the chorus while a tuxedoed Ludacris, looking nothing like the guy who sang ‘I got hoes in different area codes’, raps his social realist tale. Women holding candles sway behind them. Why am I not offended by the obvious corniness of this? Don’t know, but it’s actually pretty good.
Dixie Chicks
Not Ready to Make Nice
Grade: C+
They chose to do the big ‘Go F*** Yourself’ song, and, while the Grammy stage is the right place for big statements, Not Ready to Make Nice isn’t even one of the six best songs on the Dixie Chicks’ album, and they’ve never quite figured out how to make it work live. Maines hit the tough notes but wavered on the low and quiet ones. The whole performance never took off.
My Grammy Moment Duet, Robyn Troup with Justin Timberlake
Ain’t No Sunshine/My Love
Grade: B
This could have been memorably horrible. Troup literally walked out of the audience and onto the stage after Jennifer Hudson announced that she had won the call-in vote. But it actually made for decent drama and Troup showed confidence, if not exactly a booming voice, while moving from Bill Withers’ signature hit to Timberlake’s.

Im sorry but Christina shouted that song…from 1:58 I was winching…the girl can sing her ass off however she has a tendency to oversing or shout…I felt like saying I get it, I get it….. a man’s world….I think it would have been more befitting to have had Usher do something…After Mr Brown was an entertainer…

I dont see what the big deal is with John Legend. Like Nate Dogg, he is best when featured with other artists, Selfish for example. By himself he is one corny & boring dude. With that new money of his he could get his grills fixed, damn homie!

I didn’t get to watch the show in it’s entirety but from what I did see, Xtina Aguilera, Chris Brown, Mary & Luda (collabo) were the best performances of the nite! That Xtina is THA TRUTH!
Beyonce’s performance was luke warm. I guess she knew it just wasn’t her YEAR! She still picked up something so all was not lost! Good luck next year Bey! Take a bow and a SEAT babe!
Mary’s performance of Be without You was cool but sistah friend hit quite a few “WRONG” notes but I still liked her heart! She is definitely a good entertainer!

I specifically remember making comments before CJ #348. What happened to my comments Concrete Loop? Is it because I dissed Justin Timberfake whatever happened to freedom of speech? If that is the case U are a two face Concrete Loop. In fact I was #347. U deleted my comments intentionally I must have struck a nerve with U. Interesting, let’s see if u delete these comments then it would prove that I am right.

I was just wondering; how come Nas almost never gets nominated. I mean most of his albums get critical acclaim but when it’s time for an award show; nothing; not even nomination. The only performance I witnessed he did was him and Ja Rule for the Pledge a while ago.
So what’s the deal?

GHETTO CELEBRITY…I think Akon looked good in the white suite. I’m sure he realizes how black he is. Why does it bother you so much? Also, please explain how a Haitian looks. I can’t just look at someone and figure out where they are from. You must have special powers.
STEELE-PIMPIN’…Syleena & Shanice can probably sing circles around Mary J., but can they write music? When they perform do they connect to the audience? Mary J. has a connection with people you can’t teach. It is natural. That is why people LOVE her. We believe she actually feels her songs instead of just belting them out.
HBIC…Christina straight screamed on of the notes. Trying to hit that Maria Carey level I guess, but she can sing. In response to your comment about if it were JHUD who did that we’d(black people)say she sounds good, you obviously haven’t been on these boards long enough.
WTF…Jamie is very rough around the edges. He needs to tone it down. Not attractive.
AMBERLY L…Why not push John Mayer? They (media/music business) promote all kinds of crap. Why do you have a problem with John? He is very talented.
MISSTEE2U…Don’t be fooled. There are plenty of talented brothers and sisters out there, but if a white man/woman is almost as good or sounds black (whatever that means) they are the ones these executives will promote. There is nothing “original” about a black person who can sing. That is expected. But from a white person it is such a nice surprise and so very unique (insert sarcasm here). The comment you posted is exactly the reaction (media/record companies) they are hoping to get.

“flu” typically refers to either influenza A or B, which are viruses, neither of which affect the gastrointestinal tract specifically. There is NO such thing as a “stomach flu.”

Like Jamie Foxx said about Christina “thats the shit right there” i know she can sing but she left me stunned with the performance.Been a fan of James Brown and watching the performance i anticipate the screech/scream. That was probably the performance of her career. Mary deserve what she got. Respect to Stevie and Tony Bennett.

I am soooo late with posting a comment about the Grammys. Yesterday Oprah said it best, “When Mary won I felt like I won the Grammy”.
I like the Dixie Chicks but I felt like their Grammys wins were political.
AWESOME PERFORMANCES: Mary J, Christina, Chris Brown. I also enjoyed Shakira/Wyclef, Dixie Chicks, Corinne/John/John.
BEST DRESSED: Natalie Cole and Christina. Mary was close behind. Luda was best for the men.
