I was surprisingly disappointed by Chris Brown’s performance.

Overall the Grammys SUCKED. Yes there was the few good performances, Mary did great, Justin SUCKED with his rehearsed piano playing ass. When he did that close up on his face I realized just how UGLY he really was. Christina? Why? They couldn’t find nobody with soul to give a tribute? Guess they knew James Brown would have LOVED to see a White women cover his song. Beyonce was FLAT as hell. Loved Chris Brown, I feel he was the best performance because he put his heart into it. And I loved the clown session with Jaime Foxx, he’s going to be himself no matter what. One thing, why do the Black performers only get about 3 minutes of stage time, but we got to sit through 20 minutes of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Carrie Underwood? I took a shit and came back when that was on. BORING!

One more thing, Did anyone notice that Fergie can’t read? That Bitch was stuttering over more syllables than my 4 year old niece. Wyclef and Shakira worked it out also, I see Beyonce did a wonderful job of toning down her pose on the red carpet FINALLY.

I was dissapointed in Bee’s performance, she was a little off tonight.

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE proves once again that he is nothing but an over hyped thieve of black music with his Elementary Piano playing skills and wack falsetto.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA can scream all she wants but she will never find real soul inside of her damaged vocal chords.

MARY J. BLIGE did her thing and sounded great. Took it home with two performances.

Funny thing that I noticed is they lumped the singers with actual talent into one long boring performance. They made John Legend, Corrine Bailey Rae, and John Mayer perform the slowest songs on their albums in order make no talent Justin Timberlake look good.

SHAKIRA and WYCLEF did their thing and finally found some type of chemistry on stage.

BEYONCE made the mistake yet again by trying to prove that she a vocalist. She has a nice rich sound for pop, but when you put her voice to a stripped away piano arrangement, she comes up a little bit short. Just like her real hair.

CHRIS BROWN knows that he is an entertainer and he stayed true to that and that made his performance great. Beyonce could learn a thing or two from him.

GNARLS BARKLEY did a great job and stayed true to their alternative sound.

LUDACRIS sheered the braids, put a suit on, and made a crossover album. Rappers, this is how you win a grammy.

Carrie Underwood needs to sit the fuck down.

In conclusion, the Grammys was boring. There was no standout artist this year. I wanted Prince to perform again like he did on the Superbowl. But it is nice to see Mary J. get her props.

I saw most of the show, but was Christina’s performance the only tribute to James Brown? I was watching it with the fam and we swore that Usher was gonna come down them stairs and do something. If that’s it, than I have to say it was not a fitting tribute to James Brown. Although Christina blew the house down and gave an amazing performance, James Brown gave electrifying, fun, in your face performances. I’m disappointed that the Grammy’s decided not to honor him in the same fashion he entertained us all.

Beyonce- beyonce was definately laid back with her performance,she wasn’t dramatic(over the top) or vocally agressive like she usually is,though according to mtv.com,she was sick with the stomach flu and was still recovering,so thats explains why she was mellow with the performance coz y’all know bee would have torn that song up like she did on oprah.yet she still showed up and performanced under those condition(now thats freakin professional)

christina- she was alright,nothin spectacular but the usually unecessary run and hollering,makin the song sound souless.screaming and hollering with excessive runs does not equate to being souful.sometimes less is more.

mary- mary was alright,but as usally she sings off key like crazy and strains to hit them notes,but luckily she made up for it in her second performance.

I didn’t notice until the end of the show that there was no host.Jamie Fox made me laugh at the beginning even though no one else did.That girl singing with JT looked like she missed practice when they were teaching the dance steps.Justin was like “you got my dance?” And she nodded like she had it.I’ll just calk it up to nerves because her singing was even off at times,and I know she can sing.

Oh Chris Brown Did His Thing As Well, An Looked Nice, I Wanted Him Ta Win, He Was Jus Sweatin All Over The Place! Still Love Him Tho.

I didn’t watch the whole show, just bits and peices.
I am glad MJB won some Grammy’s it’s long overdue.
Everybody looks nice, with the exception of George Clinton, who is a permenant hot ass mess!

If anybody on this board want to call somebody a hater, they can, and you know why because people can do what they want to do. And I’m not trying to be ignorant. And I’m not trying to argue with nobody because really argueing on a board doesn’t prove anything because we’re not face to face. So if I decide to say that somebody is hating because I feel as though they was hatin’ then that is what the fuck I’m going to do. Because to tell you the truth, I can say what the fuck I want to say and so can everybody else.

That was one of the grammy’s best shows yet, I actually didn’t find myself getting bored and turning the channel after a couple minutes.

- Mary J’s performance was okay. I feel her on all the struggles that she went through, but I can just hear someone in the audience thinking, “All right, I been to all these damn shows, she can skip her speech about finding herself and move onto the song now.

- Justin’s first performance killed it until he picked up the camera and wouldn’t let it go. I love him, I really do, but someone should tell him when you are sweating that much step away from the lights. (And who else was wondering, during his second performance, when is he going to grow some balls and just step out with a black chick..you know, he has to be tired of the blondes by now)

- Christina killed it. No one can TOUCH her in the industry today. Don’t sleep!!

I loved Christina, she did an amazing job. I wish Chris had won something. I thought Beyonce was just thrown in there because ‘listen’ should not have been performed AT ALL. Her hair and outfit was a mess too. Rhianna looked stunning!, Ciara’s dress was really ugly. And Mary didn’t disappoint me with her looks tonite. I was glad to see Red Hot CPs perform and that Justin T. winner sucked major ass.

Just wondering…..why wasnt Jay-Z there with Beyonce??

BOY, do i have a mouthful to say: for starters, Hate Toccora and Beyonce’s dresses(remind me of my prom dresses from the 1980’s)…Loved the suits that Mr. Timberlake, T.I,Ludacris,and Mr. Hamilton and Akon wore…they looked like men properly dressed for the occasion…Jamie Foxx’s daughter is so pretty(is his baby momma white???)…George Clinton…WTF???!!?!?was he there for the grammies or to panhandle??…Omarosa was dressed for vacation(talk about tacky on the glam carpet)…and to the chick in the dark purple dress in Danity Kane, i got one word for you…BRA!!…and Ms. Queen Latifah, girl i love you to death, but hang up the curtain cloth soon as ya get home…

Everyone looked really good. Big up to Mary J. I see Armarosa got a boob job so she won’t continue to look like a hermie… George Clinton needs to get it together as the pioneer and representer of blacks in the industry. Rihanna’s dress is bang’in.

The Grammys was just alright.
Mary’s performance- was not what I expected for a “grammy performance”, but she did look great and why did she almost catch spirit and lose that big ole bun weave she was rocking? Did anyone see J.Fox’s face after her perfomance? He was salted!

Chris Brown’s- was real energetic and he stuck to what he know for real. He danced his ass off.

Gnarls “GadddddDamnnn” Barkley- now I been a fan a ceelo for years..I mean Goodie Mob/Dungeon Family years- why?…why he double-layered dentures? I mean it look Scary- sheesh. And the cameraman wrong too for them close ups!

Luda w/Mary- she looked stunning w/the hair and outfit. Holly’hood at its best. Mary is Ghetto Fabulous. I love how she be trying to be all classy and reserved and the “Brooke Lynne” be trying to breakthrough. Luda was mad amped after the win- dude came out performin like he threw a couple back before coming on stage.

Christina’s- it was a good ass performance period. BUT! If anything- James Brown is the damn GodFather Of Soul! C’mon there would be no damn Elvis or Graceland if not for James Brown! He opened doors for so many & from different walks of life too. But you guys..think deeper. Think about his era and what he truly represents. He was more than a pioneer in the music industry/and entertainment. I think respectfully, for the GRAMMYS there could of been a better tribute. Prince and Chris Brown (old school meets new school) out dancing each other. J.Fox could of perfomed the song..feel me?

Shakira and Wyclef nice performance. Wyclef stay representing. A little hard too..dude looking real haitian..got a little weight on him. Got a little rice belly thing going on. The tighter fittin pants. But they did their thing. Shakira is sick with it…

Justin’s was just alright. He always looks the same to me. Young ass pee wee herman suits and the same as look. Why don’t he fire his stylist! The biddie singing with him got nooooo rhythm poor thing!

Other than that Red Hot Chili Peppers was cool. Song hot performance a little weak considering the was MIA for a bit. Good to see Sting and the Police.

NOW, akon needs to be slapped with a fine. What the hell was he thinking black as tar and trying to wear winter white…you know what. Deport his ass!

Beyonce…performance was lackadasial! She looked sick the way she was slow stepping, holding her belly as she sang..she looked like she had the bubble guts. And her synthetic weave? Looked just that synthetic. Where’s the $800 yaky?

Overall, I think the Grammys were good. I enjoyed the performances from each of the artists. I think they did the best they could at the time. The most touching part of the night for me personally, was when Mary J Blige won Best R&B Album of the year. I grew up listening to Mary. From her singing the hook to the Father MC song to her making a Grammy Award winning album “The Breakthrough”. To me, it was an extremely proud moment to see her grow in her art form. And you can tell, that she put a lot of hard work and heart into this album, because I freakin love it. As far as Christina A. goes, she is extremely talented. The woman can sing. But everyone loves to hate on her. And I just can’t find it in myself to do so. Everyone doesn’t have to like her tribute, her performance, or her music. But I do. And I can get curse out all up and down this post, but it doesn’t change my opinion one bit. That’s the purpose of opinions, we all have them. Not everyone is going to enjoy the Grammys like some. Personally, since I’m such a huge music fan of all genres, it’s the highlight of my year. It’s bad enough that the older generation shuns the younger generation for being closed minded and ignorant. As a younger generation, we need to step up to the plate and show our elders that we can be open minded and less ignorant. No one and I do mean no one should fault another for their opinions. If you don’t like it (which you’re entitled to feel that way), chuck it up and move on. There’s no need to curse the person out in a post, cause you don’t like what they have to say. In conclusion, I enjoyed the Grammy awards and congratulations to all of the winners!

Mary J. Blige. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN. I love this woman so much. She was so deserving of everything she was nominated for and for the awards she received.

Gnarls Barkley is the shyt…plain and simple. I wanted them to perform another song rather than “Crazy”; ‘coz I know they’ve got to be sick of doing it…still, it was a great performance as well.

Smokey Robinson, thought he was going to fall over…I had to wonder if he had a pulse? Ha ha. Still, he did a good job for a 70-year old. *wink*

The Dixie Chicks. I LOVE THOSE GIRLS! Love that song! And I LOVE that they won best album/record/whatever of the year.

Rascall Flatts…I don’t really listen to country much, but I *DO* listen to them. Those young men have some of the greatest harmonies ever! And ole’ dude sung the hell out of Hotel California!

Red Hot Chili Peppers. Have Mercy. Anthony Keidis? *faints* Love them, loved the performance.

Is it me, or is “Runaway Love” not really that great of a song? I don’t like it all that much…Luda had ole’ boy from Earth Wind and Fire singing…I thought the whole band was going to come out and perform! It was an okay performance.

I missed the Grammy’s but see from the pictures above, that Anthony Hamilton was there! Did he win anything?? Please tell me he won a grammy because he sooooo deserves it. Also, nothing personal against Mary J, but I just don’t see what the hype is about her. She can’t sing. Sorry, that’s just my personal opinion. But she can dress her ass off though, I’ll give her that, lol. If Syleena Johnson and/or Shanice were on a record label that could truly see the potential they have, and would actually put the money, producers, etc. behind their projects, they would be platinum selling artist. They both, as well as Anthony Hamilton are so under-rated. Syleena & Shanice can sing circles around Mary J and John Legend couldn’t touch Anthony Hamilton if he wanted too.

The show was pretty boring, I must admit! I was more into Chris Brown’s performance (even tho he was dancing so hard he could barely sing)! Chris was the one who did the James Brown night train tribute. That little boy is hot!! Usher better watch out, cuz Chris is on his heels!!

Mary did good! I was very excited for her win! Her runaway love performance was better than her solo joint. Can somebody please explain to me why Earth, Wind and Fire lead singer just does not have those high notes like he used to but still tries to struggle through the notes now (making my ears hurt)!

Christina’s performance was a tad overdone, but you CANNOT deny that girls voice. I saw her in concert, and was amazed. If you can’t hear the quality of her voice, go get your ears checked!

I liked Beyonce’s hair. Yes, her performance was awful, but like mtv said, she had a stomac flu. Shit, I can barely get out of the bed when my stomach hurts. So, mad props to her for going up there and perfprming. MJB, she did good. She was off at least four times. I’m a music major and I take eartraining and sightsinging, so I should know. Christina, man all that girl did was scream. I could not find a potch in many of her notes, especially that last one.

fASHION: Most of the men played it safe. Jamie and his daughter look cute. Juelz was cute with his curly hair. I liked both of Beyonce’s dresses, except the one she performed in. MJB, I’m getting tired of that braid! But her dress, the first one, was cute. I didn’t like her hair for her performance, though. Jennifer Hudson looks skinnier since the last time I saw her on T.V. Christina’s dress looks familiar, like something I’ve seen before, I can’t put my finger on it, though. The fashion was definately better this year than it was last year.

Beonce did horrible at the awards, I was so disappointed because on Oprah, she tore the house DOWN!! But other then that everyone looked nice and the grammy’s was even better this year. They put a spin on it to make it very different then years before.

Mary’s solo performance was the highlight of the night. It was moving!

Chris Brown: His performance was not all that, he was sweating like hell when he took that hoodie off but he redeemed himself when he did that tribute to James Brown.

John Legend and the crew: the were good, a little long, but they were good.

Justin Timberlake: I liked his first performance, hell, i like that song…got a lil crazy when he was doin the lil camera thing….His performance with the winner was ok, nothing SPECTACULAR…she did look like she missed rehearsal, i know she may have been nervous but girl u on the damn grammy’s, BRING YOUR A GAME!!!…and she damn sure had NO rhythm, poor baby…

Christina did exactly that for me. And she was feeling that damn song-she grew up listening to soul music-she’s not pretending or acting she sang that song the way she felt it-some like it some don’t but that “white” girl is not singing to please us or to win black folks approval-she just sang the damn song and I aint mad at her-

I split my time between the Grammys and the simpsons/family guy. I did catch a few performances and I can comment on those.

I caught the tail end of Beyonce’s performance. Eh. Maybe I had to see the whole thing because it was just aiight. I was wondering about the note changes, and again I chalked it up to having to see the whole perfomance to understand how I felt about it.

I turned the channel at the corrine/john l./john m. performance, right after john legend started singing. I think they’re all talented, but it was wearing me out.

Smokey Robinson & Lionel Ritchie had me singing along. Chris Brown did a good job, I loved all the steppin. I especially loved the backflip with the trampoline.

Christina A., I love her to death. She is an amazing talent to me. However I do think that she could have taken it down just about 2 notches. She tore it up don’t get me wrong, but some of it started sounding rough, especially when she broke into that high whistle note. I know she does it because she can, but I thought she would get over proving how strong of a singer she is by now. I wonder if her throat even hurts anymore when she sings like that?

Mary J. & Luda had a lovely performance of a song with an actual message.

JT’s performance of what goes around comes around? Actually referring to the clip at the beginning before he actually sung: Hun, why you explaining that the song is relating to what happened to a “friend” and that’s why it means so much to you? Boy you know you still writing songs about Britney. You need to stop playing. What was the deal with that weird blair witch project camera with the light thing that he was holding? And the performance at the end of the night? Eh. I felt bad for the girl because she just was not getting the dance at all. But congrats to her for even getting the chance to get up there and do that.

I changed the channel at 11 so I don’t even know how it finished. Overall even though my viewership was spotty, I think the Grammy’s were just alright.

The no host formula isnt appealing to me, they need to have someone
hosting next year & comment or joke on the different styles of music etc.

My highlights were the following:

I’m extremely happy for Mary. Some people were complaining about her talking about her past and how in love she is, but I say to those people…you trying dating that monkey Ki-Ci and see how happy you’ll be to finally get a decent man!!!!!

Chris Brown’s performance was phenomenal. That brother’s dancing ability is only exceeded by his athleticism. To be able to do that level of gymanstics at 6′2″ or however tall the brother is takes an incredible amount of coordination. I didn’t watch much of the show but I enjoyed how Ludacris addressed his enemies, lol. He let them know that he could flip all the negativity that they levied at him. The way that he addressed them was far more respectful than the way Oprah treated him on her show (like he was beneath her). I think some people think that Oprah is above reproach because they see her as a god. I also liked how he noticed the correlation between his changed hairstyle and the new acclaim and awards that he’s receiving. Brother seems very bright.

She can sing in full voice, falsetto, and go inbetween both effortlessly. Perfect example is when she sings Etta James’ At Last. She KILLS that song, brings it back to life, then kills it again. Best Grammys Ever!!! The show was really well rounded, bringing together real musicians: rap, country, rock, pop, r&B, oldies… That was the epitome of a great, well put together show. Best perfomances were Corinne Bailey Rae, Legend, Mayor…an awesome trio. Shakira did her thing! Christina was great and I also enjoyed the R&B tribute with Smokie, Lionell and Chris Brown. Oh yeah and Gnarls barkeley is so weird…but Iove it. When they had the guy who came out and wrapped James Brown’s cloak around the microphone stand and had the spotlight shine on it, I was clapping so hard. I really thought that was classic. This show really showed what music is all about and I appreciated that. Artist from every corner came out and particpated and that’s what I loved. I almost cried when Mary gave her first speech…well deserved!! Also I wish Justin would have won a Grammy. His Cd is crazy and it’s still in heavy rotation. Whoever produced this years’ Grammy show deserves an Oscar. Best show yet!!!!

Rae did a creditable job on Like a Star, but it’s not a song you can get away with playing on an acoustic guitar while sitting on a stool. Legend’s vocal from behind his piano was similarly low-key, though there was a nice moment of three-part harmony on the chorus. Mayer broke free to show off some blues guitar chops, but the whole thing was a snooze.

There’s no note Aguilera can’t turn into 10, and she predictably eradicated the melody while giving us a tour of her range. Going to her knees JB-style, though, earns her a little grade inflation.

A totally different looking Mary J. Women holding candles sway behind them. Why am I not offended by the obvious corniness of this? Don’t know, but it’s actually pretty good.

They chose to do the big ‘Go F*** Yourself’ song, and, while the Grammy stage is the right place for big statements, Not Ready to Make Nice isn’t even one of the six best songs on the Dixie Chicks’ album, and they’ve never quite figured out how to make it work live. Maines hit the tough notes but wavered on the low and quiet ones. The whole performance never took off.
