So about the Oscars….
Didn’t see any of the Africa movies this year (saw too many already) but I hear Forrest killed it and he’s always humble and appreciative so I’m glad he won.
Martin Scorcese - make up Oscar….because the Departed is not even an original movie and the Asians made it better when it was called “Infernal Affairs.” Not a strong Best Picture to me at all. Good movie, though.
Eddie Murphy lost because of “Norbit.” What else could it have been when every other acting frontrunner won - and Oscar ballots were mailed back after that hot mess came out.
Jennifer Hudson got the Oscar because she was a newbie who exceeded expectations and because Hollywood loves a Hollywood story. But the actresses from “Babel” - Adriana Barranza and Rinko Kikuchi deserve more work from the recognition. They really rocked their roles.
I loved the Dreamgirls performance Jennifer and Beyonce sounded great together and I love the way they shared the songs. Apparently, they have no problems sharing the spotlight despite the stans and haters that want there to be problems between the two.
That said, Beyonce looked both happy for JHud and wistful when she won. Who the hell was in the control room that CUT AWAY from JHud and Beyonce hugging to some random chicks when JHud won.
I really want to see what happens here out for JHUD - People love to get Oscars but history is not in her favor here - black Best Supporting Winners: Whoopi Goldberg, Lou Gossett, Jr., Cuba Gooding, Jr., never had the success they enjoyed in the Oscar year again. Only Denzel did better after he got his Supporting Oscar.
It’s not that much better for lead actors be they black or white - It seems like after Oscar, every winner goes down in quality movies from there - or never reaches that level of success again. (Unless you’re Hilary Swank, you pick two Oscar-winning roles in your career and nothing else you do is any good.)
If you’re a woman and you’re married or hooked up, that relationship is over (Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon).

I agree with #39. They were all doing the most and it was totally unnecessary. I was also left understanding why JHUD got voted off of AI cause she was everywhere and nowhere she needed to be with that first song. As for Beyonce, she does have a tendancy to oversing, but I think she did so even more last night because she was competing, and it was unnecessary. And when Anika started singing, the other two drowned her out until she started screaming too. i was mad that I stayed up for the performance and didn’t just catch it on youtube cuase it was too scatttered for me to appreciate.

I am proud of those who won, but I must admit i was routing for Peter O’toole (i know i spelled that all wrong) he is old and has been shafted before. Forest did an amazing job though in the movie. however, is it me or does it seem like he should have been considered a supporting actor becuase the movie was not about Amin, it was about that little white doctor (I know cause that is what upset me about the movie…movies about AFrica always gotta be about some white people in AFrica with Africans as the backdrop).

I think JHUD’s dress would have been great without that frock. I thought it was slimming, unlike that red dress they put on her. Can’t they make something that emphasises curves without hugging fat?

Reese was definatley the best of the night. That dress was so so so tight…and Gweneth’s dress grew on me. that younger guy from dreamgils is sooooo cute!

I forgot to add that JHUD does need to improve on the public speaking. However, is it just me but whenever someone asks Bey a question that requires more than “fine” or “good” for an answer, I just cringe and wait for the worst because I don’t understand why she still can’t articulate, speak clearly, or lose that ghetto/country accent…or at least mellow it down.

I love JHudd and I love Beyonce’. They both looked very beautiful on stage. The only thing I didnt like about the performance was the fact that JHudd didnt know how to harmonize. I understand that she never sung in a group but JHudds voice sounds very good but I hear her voice in the church choir all the time. I live Beyonce’ voice better and it has nothing to do with it being louder or more soulful then JHudds because it isnt, but her diction and her runs are very beautiful. I think Jhudds has a loud beautiful voice but her runs and her dictions needs vast improvement. Thats my opinion. I was very happy that she won the oscars because I think she is a very humble person. I wish everybody would stop comparing Beyonce’ and JHudd because there is no comparison. Beyonce’ is Beyonce’ and she will stay on top. She is beautiful and she is considered what is in. JHudd is a stand in one spot ballad singer and she would fit well for Gospel but the R&B market would not be the path that she should take.

I cant believe that some people are saying Jen didnt work hard enough for her award yet and how other black actors have to wait for theirs. Well in my opinion that is the PROBLEM. Why is it that black actors have to do so much harder work than white actors in order to get their first award? That isnt right. There are PLENTY of white actors who get awards from their first movie.

The performance was great. EVERYONE held their own, no one out shined anyone in my opinion. But they were robbed for best song!

And another thing. J-Hud, Beyonce, and Anika all did an amazing job. How can you compare B and J-Hud? Beyonce has an exceptional voice, but J-Hud’s voice is more soulful. Which means she has more power and soul, J-Hud could make you cry when she sings. Although B can blow it out she lacks that soul. They’re both in two differnt genre’s. That’s like comparing Mariah to Mary J. They both have two totally different sounds.

The performance by the girls was stellar. I think they all sounded great, although, in my opinion, it was Anika that was trying to project more than the other girls during the climax of Patience.

I dont think we will ever be able to place them both in the same catagory… J-Hud doesnt need to dance and shake her ass across the stage she can stand and sing once she learns how to really tell a story through her notes. she will be our new Whitney (minus the drug use).. Congrats to all of the nominees nad winners. I feel so inspired by Jennifer Hudson, not to sound corny, but anything really is possible. I didnt like the performance it seemed like they were trying to compete, just sing the song, all the screaming not necessary. Didnt like Beyonce’s dress ( the mint green one) Liked J Hud’s dress but not feeling the star trek jacket at all. What’s up with Beyonce and Jay-Z not being together for the last few big events, could this be the end? Ellen was funny.

FOLKS we have a epidemic on our hand, the people of the U.S. are under attack by non-essenital things and those things that have very little to determain a person character. We need to remove these shackeles and set ourselves free so that we can truely be Beautiful, when was it required to wear expensive garments and assessories, or when was it required to act swank and ritz-ie, i mean these are actors who took an class in school and pass or failed got the chance to put on a show for adults on the silver screen. I didn’t hear that about E. Murphy but I will say I wouldn’t be surprised, he strikes me as being a real ass-hole. I am still shocked that Tracee is dating him, but hey I don’t know what kind of person she is either. But she sure is everywhere with him enjoying the limelight. Jennifer compared to Beyonce does not sound “country” all the time. She sounds happy that she has won and the maybe just maybe a little of it may come out at that time. Beyonce sounds like a little girl trying to use big words when she speaks. if you’ll notice when with Destiny’s Child she didn’t say very much, Kelly and Michelle did all the talking. When she did she said the same things all the time.

The crimson dress that Beyonce rocked during the Dreamgirls performance was hot…however, the red carpet joint was just not for her. It made her hips look ten times bigger than they already are. I guess she was going for curvy…but gat dang!!! Umm, JHud, no no to metallic foil jackets. She’s amazing though, love love her!! Tracey Edmonds hair…TOP NOTCH..love it. The dreamgirls performance was awful, because rather than sounding like a group with multiple members, it sounded like multiple persons singing the same song separately. It was not at all a good sound, and demonstrated why the movie did not sweep at the awards. They should have repped it better

Sure they could be alittle more articulate but they’re not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. But that’s just how it goes anyways when people are successful people have to find what they think are their flaws and over exaggerate them.

I was surprised that Eddie didn’t win. But then I looked out in the crowd and seen that he left not to far after his catagory was announced. Anika looks very sexy with that Silver dress on. Queen Latifah looks alright…I love Beyonce look from head to toe. Jennifer Hudson looks very pretty but she needs to take off the jacket…But Besides all that she looks Gorgeous. Will Smith and Jada looks great as usual, but I wish Jada gain some weight…But she still looks good. Everybody else looks alright.

just watched the youtube vid and i must admit, bey didn’t oversing on this one but you have to admit that she didn’t start singing this soulful until she had to compete with jhud.

and the reason why we shouldn’t compare bey and jhud is b/c they’ve had different types of training. bey has done operatic training so she’s had to learn how to REALLY control her voice. jhud hasn’t had that specific type of training so her voice is less controlled and more natural but w/training, she’ll give people a run for their money. as of now, i think she has the power while bee has the technique.

Well the oscars was boring as hell until like 10:45 when Jen won. But let me get started on the outfits.

First Jen the winner- her dress was pretty, but it’s obvious that spaceship jacket had to go. She looked beautiful in the red dress and the dress she wore at the vanity fair party.

Beyonce’s- Pretty dress but I’m not feeling those shoes. I like that auburn hair color she has.

Djimon- looked handsome, I wish he would of won.

Queen Latifah- looked pretty

Forest Whitaker- I’m so happy he won. He looked nice and his wife looked pretty.

Anika- looked cute, I liked the red dress she wore better.

Eddie Murphy and Tracy make a cute couple and she looked beautiful and so did he.

Quincy Jones- WFT were you thinking? Chris Gardner looked nice.

The Smith Family- Looked Fab as usual. Jaden is so cute, Jada looked pretty, I love that gold color dress, and Will looked nice but he looked like he’s getting older and I know he still young. He needs to get rid of that gray.
