A week after retired center John Amaechi became the first active or former NBA player to publicly acknowledge he was gay, one of the most popular players in Heat franchise history offered a blunt view on homosexuality Wednesday during a radio interview.
Former Heat guard Tim Hardaway, who had been making public appearances for the NBA, said on Miami-based 790 The Ticket he would not have tolerated a gay player on his team and would have asked to have been traded in such a situation or would have asked to have the gay teammate be traded.
…Hardaway was asked if his opinion would be different if a top-level teammate acknowledged being gay.
“If he were that great, something would still have to give,” he said. “People would feel uncomfortable with that. If you’re not gay, nobody in that locker room would feel comfortable with that person on your team.”
He later apologized for the remarks during a telephone interview with FOX affiliate WSVN in Miami.
“Yes, I regret it. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said I hate gay people or anything like that,” he said. “That was my mistake.” read more

Did anyone happen to catch The Real World last night? They touched on the subject of Christianity and homosexuality. Davis, the gay cast member, brought up a good point as some of you posters have. The Bible says a lot of things are wrong and sinful yet many people pick and choose which points to believe in as they see fit. He talked about how in the Bible it says something about women who pray without their heads covered are shaming the Lord and should have their hair shaved off. I’m almost 100% sure that not even 10% of women cover their heads before praying. But of course, in this society we think this is silly and don’t take it seriously because that’s the way people felt many years ago. And what about premarital sex? This is also a sin. But I guess it’s “not as big” a sin as being gay, right? My point is, if someone is going to use the Bible to justify their hate then they should be following the Bible to the letter because who are they to pick and choose what is right and wrong in the Bible.

The scripture defines who your neighbor is in both the Old and New Testaments as well as defining all other things. I guess that Tim Hardaway didn’t learn from the Isaiah Washington situation. He should know by now that black men’s opinions are not welcome on any subject other than hip hop or basketball. He should’ve just said “no comment”. If he was going to say it, then he should’ve stuck to his guns because the fact of the matter is that 80% of people in general (and 90% of blacks in particular) in this society are stupid as hell and have no moral foundation. Society doesn’t accept apologies from black males. It will just delay your penalty, lol. Freedom of speech is like the Big Bang, a THEORY not a fact. He’s going to be heavily affected by this because other black men will not stand with him out of fear and stupidity, most black women love homosexuals and the white man, and the white man can’t wait for a negro male to give him a reason to slowly destroy his career.
If you challenge the core tenets of this society, you have to be well-versed enough in your beliefs to back them up when challenged, especially as a black man. In 2007, you can’t just say some crazy shit like, “I hate gays” unless you can really corroborate it with some type of spiritual and intellectual foundation. This is a Homosexual Revolution that we’re in the midst of and negroes better recognize that shit and think accordingly. The times, this world, and these people are too wicked to try to trade emotional thoughts with them. I love it when I get into these arguments with people the first thing they do is liken homosexuality to killers and rapists, as if there’s any actually correlation. Wrong.
The scientific debate at this point isn’t whether or not homosexuality is a choice (that was ruled out by the scientific community at large decades ago, so you’re technically already wrong). The debate is whether or not homosexuality is a genetic issue–as some research on the genetic make-up of humans and some animals suggests, (so you’re wrong on this count, too)–or if homosexuality is caused by environmental influences present during important developmental stages of a child (infancy).
The go-betweeners like to suggest that the true answer lies somewhere in the middle of both arguments, and as time goes on that may be the case, because there’s evidence piling up on both sides (though more so on the genetic front).
I’m in the middle of writing a paper, so I won’t post the list of links I have on the subject. However, I will I really need to. But I think I’ve gotten the point across.
The point is, there was no “choice” made. And abstinence isn’t a cure. By telling someone to be abstinent, you’re telling them that they should live the rest of their lives only being a fraction of who they truly are, and how barbaric is that?

The issue for DL men isn’t his sexuality, the issue is that he is not being honest about who he is, and mostly because of many of the things that you mention in your initial post.
The issue is further complicated by the fact that his dishonesty could be deadly - because if he is not being honest open about who he is, then he is not likely being honest and open about protecting himself.
The whole thing with people on the DL is that they are not being hoenst about who they are and what they are doing. Bisexual men and DL men, are not necessarily the same. Bisexual men, tell you that they are bisexual. DL men, usually live a lifestyle that suggests that they are “all man” and “hate gays”, when they are having relationships with other men.
Most women are angry because the man is not being honest, and that dishonesty could prove to be fatal.

Don’t confuse debate with a lack of knowledge. And scientific ambiguity in one field doesn’t always apply to everything.
I could easily point out that the bible is still a heavily debated text, but it would be pointless and in fact turn me into you: relying on the irrelevant to make my point.
There will ALWAYS be naysayers. There will ALWAYS be some form of confusion in just about everything. In some cases, it is majority and opinion and the theory that has the most evidence supporting it that must be relied upon. As it stands now, homosexuality is not a choice, and most current debate is centered on just what THAT means. Not whether or not it’s true. Deal with it.

To me the ignorance is not so much in what he said, but more so the response that I have been reading. So what if he does not like you? He does not have to. You can say that his words were ignorant, they may have been. But they were his words. Not yours. His thoughts. You cannot tell a person they are wrong for their thought. Most people conclude their feelings from past experiences. So a better question is what exactly happened to him to make him feel like this? You dont know his experiences just like he does not know yours, so before you condemn him for his God-Given right to think and speak freely, find out why he says what he says. People want to be listened to, but do not want to listen. You have one mouth and two ears for a reason. I am not saying do not stand up for what you believe in, but if that is his belief then let that be. Let him deal with his own issues on his own. At the end of the day he is the one who has to sleep with himself. I do not think he is a closet homo, I just think he had a bad expereince that relates to homosexuality. My thought is if you are truly comfortable in your skin, then you would not even entertain him. I would never justify my heterosexualty to anyone who asked. Because I do not care what anyone thinks.

A few years ago when migrate strawberry pickers boycotted Whole Foods for unjust treatment I acted out as I regular shop there and demanded change. Yet, I am not a migrant strawberry picker, but I am sensitive to their claims.
When A&F offended countless Asian Americans with a series of offensive and humor-gone-awry shirts I was there. Yet, I am not Asian American, but will not stand for assault as humor.
As women in Central America and Southern Asia are trafficked into prostitution. I protest. Yet, I am not a woman or of either ethnicity, but believe that no one should be forced into sex work against their own will.
And when Blacks were headed for the North many of them received a helping hand from kind White American souls- and I thank them. Because while the tedious journey to freedom is not my direct struggle it was the path of my fore fathers/mothers as I am African American. Do you see my point?
What would have happened to my ancestors if those willing people (many of whom happened to be White) chose not to help because that struggle was not their own?
Sometimes these marginalized groups have no political platform on which to stand and have their grievances heard. It is at these times that people should rally around a cause and create a dent in the social sphere in which we live (even if you fee you are not “economically” affected- as you so callously put it).

My point is directly related- or in response- to 123’s comment about not taking on issues that are not immediate to us. I think that’s anti-intellectual. I was not directly referring to gay people and their respective rights (or lack thereof), but rather the short-sighted nature of the comment in and of itself.
However, if I wanted to, I could make a case that gays are a very marginalized group and culturally, verbally and even physically assaulted because they are gay. That struggle is both real and apparent, but that was not the intention of that post. Yet, Hardaway’s comment illustrates a painful sort of reality that exists in America (specifically amongst Black Americans) that perpetuates cycles that lead to discrimination (verbal or otherwise) against gays.

When you read a story here on Concreteloop and then repeat it to one of your friends, what are you doing? MY bible says, “Thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20).
When you repeat something you heard from someone else, or share a story where you’re not 100% certain the facts are correct, or even share information about another person that will only bring them harm and not good, you are bearing false witness against them. Since the second greatest commandment is “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you would be breaking that one as well by gossiping. Would you gossip about yourself to others? If not, then why commit that act against your neighbor?

As far as the use of the word “hate”. The Most High says to hate the evil and love the good (Amos 5:15). King Solomon says that there is a time to love and a time to hate (Ecc 3:8). What the Bible says about Homosexuality
Contender Ministries
With the schism in the Anglican communion, the Constitutional amendment in the United States to define marriage as between a man and a woman, and in light of various ‘human rights’ laws around the world that vilify those who speak against homosexuality, more Christians are asking what the Christian position towards homosexuality should be. While only a tiny percentage of people are homosexual, the gay lifestyle is becoming mainstream – at least in some circles and in the media. Let’s examine what the Bible says about homosexuality, and clear up a few myths in the process.
First, let’s start with some fundamental groundwork. Some people, uneducated in scripture, are under the mistaken impression that all forms of sexuality are sinful according to the Bible. With this misconception, they readily disregard anything the Bible might say with regards to sexuality, choosing instead to side with their sexual desires. What they don’t understand is that they are completely wrong. Sex is a creation of God, who pronounced all His creation “good!” Sexuality is not sinful. It is a wonderful part of God’s plan.
God put a limit on sex, though. Yes, a limit – only one. There is no long dissertation on the do’s and don’ts of sex. The only caveat to the enjoyment of sex is this: sex is meant to be enjoyed in the context of marriage – not outside of it. Unfortunately, these days we must be specific. Sex is to be enjoyed within the context of a marriage between a man and a woman. That’s it! That’s the limit. Genesis 2:24-25 says, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Hebrew 13:4 says, “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” All sexual sins (i.e. promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, prostitution, etc.) are sins because they do not conform to the limit of sex being a marital activity. Now of course some of you will point out the list of sexual activity prohibited by the Mosaic laws, but let’s not address those issues of the law from which Paul said we are now free. Instead, let’s stick to those ancient commands that endure eternal. To that end, the above-mentioned single rule is how we are to judge sexual morality.
The men of Sodom and Gomorrah were the first recorded in the Bible to face punishment for their sexual perversion. In Genesis chapter 19, we find two angels that pay a visit to Lot’s home in Sodom. In verse four, we find that “all the men from every part of Sodom” surrounded Lot’s house, and told Lot to bring out his visitors “so that we can have sex with them.” The pro-homosexual revisionist argues that the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah was that the residents wanted to commit an act of rape. That the rape would have been homosexual is not an issue, according to their argument. However, Jude 7 indicates that Sodom and Gomorrah’s punishment was due to their sexual perversion. Their sin was not simply one of violence (rape) but of sexual immorality (homosexuality). As further evidence of the sinful nature of homosexuality, Leviticus 18:22, and 20:13 both describe homosexuality as “an abomination.”
Contrary to the opinions of some, the Old Testament is not the only place in the Bible that condemns homosexuality. We previously mentioned Hebrews 13:4, where Paul exhorted us to honor the marriage bed and keep it pure. In Romans 1:26-27 Paul is very specific, “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.” In 1 Corinthians 6:9, Paul wrote, “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind.” The Greek word from which the King James Bible gets the word “effeminate” is malakos, which literally means something soft to the touch, but is used as a negative metaphor to refer to a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man. The “abusers of themselves with mankind” are those men who engage in unnatural sexual relations with other men – homosexuals. That is also how the NASB, the NKJV, and the NIV translate that verse. Also in the New Testament is verse 7 from the book of Jude, defining exactly why Sodom and Gomorrah were punished – homosexuality.
Having established that homosexuality is a sin, we must now face that we live in increasingly pro-homosexual societies. The media and the schools have become mouthpieces for the gay subculture, and are working hard to marginalize those of us who take a moral, biblical stance on the issue. School sex education programs based on the curriculum developed by SIECUS champion homosexuality as being normal and healthy, while encouraging teenagers to ignore the values of their parents if their parents feel homosexuality is wrong. “Gay” television shows are popping up on networks like Bravo and on other networks as well.
In many nations, current and existing laws are including slurs against homosexuality in the definition of hate crimes. In fact, some in Canada have found themselves in legal trouble for reading the first chapter of Romans over the airwaves. This is a pattern that is sweeping the Western world, and I predict we’ll see similar legislation in the United States within the next few years. While the Canadian Parliament claims that a religious exemption in their recent hate speech bill will protect speech of a religious nature, in practice Canadians have already been prosecuted by human rights tribunals for things as simple as listing the same Bible verses above in a newspaper advertisement.
Even the church today is not immune to the mainstreaming of immorality. The Anglican Communion, including the Episcopal Church in the United States is suffering a rift because of the appointment of an openly homosexual bishop. This rift is widened because some of its leaders have deemed it appropriate to perform homosexual marriages. The Methodist Church has allowed openly homosexual ministers to retain their positions. Let me make this clear: I do not oppose allowing homosexuals to attend church. In fact, I think that’s where they should be. However, we must not condone sinful immorality by allowing our clergy to practice it openly. Homosexuality is a sin. Homosexuals are unrepentant of their sin. If they were repentant, they would no longer identify themselves as homosexual. Just as no church would allow their minister to engage in an ongoing adulterous affair and retain his position, so we must not allow homosexual ministers to retain their positions of leadership.
Homosexual advocates will contend that homosexuality is natural, and some will point to homosexual activity within some animal species as evidence. However, it’s not hard to figure out that homosexuality is decidedly unnatural. My wife and I used to have a couple of pendant necklaces. Each of us had half of a pendant on our necklace. When we put our two halves together, the zigzag pattern meshed together flawlessly to create a single, whole pendant (which, by the way, bore the words of Genesis 2:24). God made men and women different, both emotionally and physically. Physically, we were created to fit together anatomically much like our pendant. Our parts just match up! Remember the child’s game of matching the round peg into the round hole, the square peg into the square hole, etc.? The homosexual is trying to force two pegs together, in blatant disregard for God’s natural design! The argument above also falls flat on its face when you consider that some animal species also eat their young. I don’t think we can extrapolate that into an acceptable practice for human beings.
These same homosexual advocates will claim that homosexuality is genetic. NOT TRUE! Nobody is ‘born homosexual.’ In 1993, Dean Hamer of the National Cancer Institute claimed to have found a genetic link to homosexuality. Yet in 1999, the results of an intensive study by the University of Western Ontario found that Hamer was in error. The fact is that after all the attempts to show a genetic cause for homosexuality, no such genetic cause has been found. A British psychologist has had enormous success in providing “reorientation” therapy to homosexuals who want to change. This is not a surgery or a medical treatment, but it is effective. How could it be effective if the cause of homosexuality is physical? Well, it couldn’t be. Homosexuality is a choice, not a genetic predisposition.
Also untrue is the label applied to those who don’t approve of homosexuality. “Homophobe” has been applied to anyone speaking negatively of homosexuality or of homosexuals. But in 2002, a study by the University of Arkansas was publicized that showed that term to be inaccurate. While a phobia is a fear, researchers found that those termed “homophobic” exhibited no traces of fear. The study subjects’ reactions ranged from disapproval to disgust, but none showed any fear.
God’s laws were handed down for our benefit. HIV and AIDS, while no longer exclusive to homosexuals, are still much more rampant and spreading more quickly among the gay community (at least in the western nations). Our children are at risk as well. While GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) will tell your seventh-grader during a school assembly that heterosexual men molest more children than homosexual men do, they are not telling the whole story. That statistic is only true because homosexuals make up less than 5% of the population. Statistically though, a homosexual man is 10 to 20 times more likely than a heterosexual man to sexually abuse a minor.
A few “Christians” have hurt the cause of morality by acting out violently and/or hatefully against homosexuals. When Matthew Shepherd was killed for being homosexual,* a Baptist congregation gathered outside the courthouse during his killers’ trial. They held up banners that stated how many days Shepherd had been in hell, and used some disgusting names to describe him. They seemed to be happy that he had been brutally murdered. Hate is not the answer to anything. Every one of us is sinful, yet every one of us is loved by God. Jesus did not celebrate the death of Matthew Shepherd, and neither should we. “Hate the sin, but love the sinner,” is how the saying goes, and that applies to homosexuals as well.
With that said, we must not be afraid to stand up and champion the cause of morality. Some will call us bigots and homophobes for our belief that homosexuality is a sin, but we cannot let name-calling soften our beliefs in God’s moral code. The pro-homosexual movement can only marginalize us if we allow ourselves to be marginalized. There are two ways we can do that: a) we exhibit hate toward homosexuals rather than love, or b) we remain silent. We must proudly champion God’s love toward the homosexual without condoning his or her behavior. Let His love shine through us, and may we all be examples of the morality God desires.

It’s not arrogance to state the truth. My friend knew before he even outed himself how I felt. When he did tell me, my beliefs didn’t change nor my view of him because I love him dearly. He doesn’t have to accept my non-acceptance of his lifestyle. Our relationship is not based on his or my own sexual pref. He struggles with his homosexuality alot and it’s not because of acceptance because all his friends and most of his fam accept it. It’s an internal struggle because he is a Christian and knows what the Bible says about homosexuality.
Okay, on to your barrage of questions. To answer it in a nutshell, I sin every day either in word, deed or thought. That is because I am a sinful being. I break commandments left and right without even knowing it sometimes. Yet, when I do and even when I don’t know I have because I sin everyday, I confess it as such. I am a sinner saved by grace. My sins were atoned for on Calvary. What did I do to deserve it? Squat! Now, does that mean I can keep sinning because God will forgive me? Paul made that arguement. No. As I grow closer to God, I’m renewed on the inside EVERYDAY and move SLOWLY closer to being more Christ-like. I cannot be perfect in this world, but I will be in the world to come (new Heaven, new Earth). God is not a fool and shouldn’t be played for one. I’m not going to keep committing the same sin and feel good about it.

Now, read 1 Corin 6:9. That is not an exhaustive list but the major types of moral sin of the unsaved. Now, while believers can and do commit these same sins, they don’t characterize them as an unbroken life pattern. When they do, it demonstrates that the person is not in God’s kingdom. True believers who do sin, resent the sin and try to gain victory over it and not continue to indulge in it hoping the rules will change.
Look, this is God’s law. If you believe in God, then you should understand. God planned for male-female relationships and this is a sexual perversion in His eyes. Also, homosexuality is not stated in the 10 Commandments but it is clearly stated in the Bible..Lv 18:22, 20:13, Rom. 1:26,27, etc.
I don’t justify ANY of my sins and I don’t have a parade about them either. Don’t pick and choose what you are going to take from the Bible but take it ALL as a whole. Scripture ALWAYS backs scripture. God will never change His rules.

I’m not sure whether you were being sincere and candid in your question or dousing me with sarcasm, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and respond on the assumption you were not trying to be funny.
Okay, all I can say to you is that every deed starts somewhere in the mind. If you constantly let something simmer and stew in your mind, it will eventually manifest itself into an action. You’ve heard, “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”, right? That’s for real. For me personally, if I think too much on something (good or bad), each day I find myself drawing closer to actually doing it because each day the desire is given attention, grows stronger and preoccupies my every thought. I then start to justify doing it and eventually do it (not all the bad stuff-lol!). On the bad things, I hadn’t actually commited the act, but I was still sinning with the thoughts. The act just brought more sin and rougher consequenses.
If you were having all these thoughts since childhood, I can see how they could grow into you actually acting on them. Were you gay before you committed the act? I don’t know but the thoughts were sinful and the act was just added sin.
As far as praying for deliverence, there are no limits on God although we all put them on Him. Again, speaking for myself, I’ll give you an example. It’s lame but you’ll get my point. I LOVE horror movies! I used to read scary books, watch movies, go on websites, the whole nine yards. At some point, it dawned on me as I grew closer to God that what I was pulling into my mind through my eyes was not what God would want me to be viewing. So, I got rid of my books and vowed never to watch scary movies. I prayed for help to keep the vow. Well, I guess I expected God to magically take the desire away and all would be good. IT DOESN”T WORK THAT WAY. I’d see movie trailers and fight the desire. Now, when I’d go to the movies to see something else, and a scary movie was playing at the same time, I went on my desire for the scary movie because I never allowed God in to start helping me. I’d feel bad afterwards but even when I was in the theater feeling bad about it, I chose to go. Then, the whole process would start over…Lord, help me not to go to these movies, rent videos, watch them on tv, etc. Then, as I thought more about them, I justified seeing them.
That was too long and lame to make a point but I hope you got it. God never put me at the theaters, made me rent the movie, etc. I put myself into the situations because that is what I secretly wanted and God knew that. His voice is only as loud as you allow it and He does not force His will on us. If you keep allowing yourself and satan to supress His voice, it will go away and you’ll give in everytime.
I still watch the movies and don’t feel too bad about it. Why? I’ve justified it so watching them doesn’t seem too bad. I feel in my spirit that I shouldn’t watch but I do. It’s a lame struggle but I’m fighting between what I know to be right and actually doing it. Do I ask God for help? No. I feel ashamed because I feel like I’m playing games with God so I just don’t ask and keep watching the movies. It doesn’t seem so bad then. Am I sinning? Big time!
The above was my candor and I think many can put their own sin into my story and understand. If you want God to help you, He will but you have to really want His help. Do you really want His help?

Did u know that in Exodus 21:7, it states that is okay to sell your daughter into slavery? In Exodus 35:2, it states that anyone working on the Sabbath should be executed. In Corinthians 11:14, it states that anyone with long hair (JESUS) “is a shame onto him.” In Corinthians 19:24, it states that it’s a sin for man to go near a woman when she’s on the rag. About how many of those rules do you agree with? Do you think selling your daughter into slavery is wrong? Here’s my question: why is God even involved in this?
It would be a little more understandable introducing God and the Bible into this if Hardaway himself stated that his religious beliefs were the reason for his hatred of gays, but he didn’t say that. He gave no indication of where his hatred came from other than the fact that he hated them.
For all we know his religious beliefs have nothing to do with it. You don’t have to be a Christian to hate gay people. This debate isn’t even religious to begin with. It’s a social problem, and it’s only going to be resolved that way. Sorry, for some of you.
And besides, this is the same guy who threatened a cop’s life and tried to accuse the police of racial profiling because he got puled over driving over 100mph in a 40mph zone (and got off without a scratch, btw). I really don’t think whatever religious convictions this man may have plays any part in his life or the decisions he makes.

We are all created equal, and the choices we make determine who we are. At some point in our life, we decide to be heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or reframe from sex all together. When do we make this choice? Maybe it when we are embryo’s, or is when we are born. Then again, it could be when we speak our first words; I could go on and on about when the choice is made. No matter what choice we have made, we are all equal.
The problem we all have with sexuality is all tied to what is considered equal in terms of the law. If your choice is to be a homosexual, then that’s your choice and you should be treated with respect. I for one don’t respect your choice and probably never will respect your choice, but I will always respect you for making that choice. Obviously I chosen to be heterosexual and that choice blinds me to view homosexuals as being equal to my sexuality, and my view will not change no matter what the law says. I will respect you, by not showing any hatred towards your sexuality, because it takes strength to make a choice that is viewed as incorrect in terms of the bible, the law, and the majority.
Tim Hardaway, chose to voice his opinion and exercise is right of free speech. In his case, he forgot about the restriction put on that right. He should have been aware of the legal issues with gay rights and the battle they are having with their equality to others. His phony apology will not make up for his disrespect to homosexuals.

I chose God, b/c He shined a light on my sins, my way of thinking that led to the sins, and what I was doing. So, there’s no changing my mind or my heart about who God is to me.
However, I also say: “Respect begats Respect”. I can, and will, exhibit respect for my fellow man. But, that doesn’t mean I have to agree with or accept any decision a person has made for their lives.
Instead of tearing at each other’s beliefs, when are we going to let this discussion be open and give transparent dialogue about the topic? I’ve tried to listen to and understand the reasoning a gay/lesbian person gives for why they are the way they are, but it all comes back to a decision:
God and His way of doing things vs. YOU doing what YOU want to do without respect for the consequences down the line. There’s no gray area. This applies to ALL of us, not just one group of people.
All of us–Christians, Gays, or whomever– will have to give an account for our decisions. He said for us to choose Life or Death, Blessings or Cursings in Deuteronomy. Life & Death is built into every decision we make. There’s a lot of doubters on here who have no concept of how real the spiritual realm (God, Jesus, Satan, Heaven, Hell, Angels, and Demons) really is.
Bottom line: Babies, your souls are at stake and a lot of you are just talking what you’ve been taught: Political Correctness and the School of “Do what you want”. You are being deceived.
As an Ambassador for Christ, I care about what happens to you when you leave this earth. You say you believe in God. How can you not believe He’s not crying at the animosity with which some of you talk about him and the Bible? I don’t know where you noticed that, because I’ve never really seen it. In most cases, actually, it’s usually like goes with like. You see more studly guys going for the other studly guys because they’re attracted to MEN, not sissies. And it’s usually sissies that go for the studly guys because they themselves are attracted to men and feel, in most cases incorrectly, that the more feminine they act the more attracted to them guys will be (it’s the societies concept of the “perfectly balnced heterosexual relationship” and some gays fall for it. The woman has to be dainty and meek for a man to want them, and some guys adopt those traits unconciously to attract men. There’s an interesting paper about the whole thing. For most it isn’t just “ok, since I can’t be with men I’ll just go and get a wife”. Some do that, but it never mentally works that way, which is why the DL is such a huge issue now. Asking homosexuals to shuck their desires is basically asking them to deny a core of their being: their right to love who they want and be with who they want.
That’s not a decision anyone else has to make.

This country is definetely on a spiral going to hell. Why do people have to accept homosexuality? Why are people demonized when stating their own opinions. HOWEVER, I know if I was in the League and I had to share a locker room with a gay or lesbian person I would be very uncomfortable. 1)They haven’t *found* the gay gene. There is yet no evidence to conclude that one does not exist. There have been several studies, however, that show that a gay gene IS possible (family histories have largely contributed to this idea).
2)There have been recognized factors that COULD contribute to a person’s sexuality being predetermined in the womb that have very little to do with genetics.
3)If you read any of my previous posts you would notice I stated that it’s very possible sexuality is something that could be partially determined through the environmental conditions present at important developmental stages of a child, which is mostly infancy. Certain groups of scientists believe that it is a combination of environment and genetics, or some mysterious third party that has yet to be discovered–there are really a lot of theories based on more conclusive evidence than “THERE IS NO GAY GENE! IDIOT!” Wow, it must have taken you a while to come up with that.
Do us all a favor and go to school: garner for yourself a better intellectual understanding than the lack you so clearly presented in your various comments in this discussion. Maybe you’ll become a better asset for society and your own personal growth.

And, don’t try to overcome your situation on your own! You can’t do it alone! The sin of the flesh requires a High Power to be delivered! Pray with sincerity! Kneel down before God and tell Him that you are ready to stop! He knows your pain and He’s ready to deliver you! And, once you’re delivered, reach back and help someone else to break free!
Also, go back and read the story of Job! Remember, he had a hedge around him until God removed the hedge and permitted satin to put his hands on Job and inflict his flesh…short of taking his life! The flesh is the final battle ground! When a man sins against his own flesh, he denies the very temple that God dwells in! God can’t dwell in an unholy place! And, you’re in the final stage when God turns you over to the sin of the flesh!!! Sin of the flesh is worst than the sin of the heart or mind! Sin of the fleah include things like: suicide, adultry, murder and rape! Sin of the heart would be like: racism, unrighteousness and judgement! BTW - calling the gay lifestyle an act of sin is righteous judgement!

That’s where you are wrong. My basic human nature was that of a Sinner. I was born into sin through no fault of our own–just like you. My attitudes, actions, thought processes, and decision-making continued to be that of a sinner even as I was growing up and brought up in the church.
I still operated in what I was taught in society, by the media, by my parents, friends—UNTIL my eyes were opened when someone took the time to explain the LOVE of God for us, the battle for control of my soul, my spirit, and my body, how Satan uses the power of suggestion to create doubt and unbelief, as well as, confusion, rebellion, and all sorts of other feelings “to blind the minds of them that believe not”.
Once I decided to get born again, I began a journey that, to this day, challenges the core of the initial learned behaviors I gained while growing up. As human beings, you and I are no different–EXCEPT in who we are allowing to control our SPIRIT, which is the part not being acknowledged by you. If you listen closely, the core of the gay/lesbian argument always alludes to allowing your “feelings” to govern your life. THAT is where a lot of people miss it.
FLESH IS FLESH. It doesn’t care who’s rubbing it suggestively or sexually–it’s gonna feel something. But, after that, you have a decision to make. Are you going to yield to the flesh b/c you liked how it felt? Or are you going to yield to what you know to be the TRUTH–that weird feeling that rang warning bells? You didn’t get hit on? Okay, desires begin with a thought. You may not have been touched, but when you looked at a dude, you may have found him attractive and allowed your thought life to run unchecked and it eventually manifested itself physically, b/c you thought about it all the time–NOTHING JUST HAPPENS. Homosexual or Heterosexual: It’s the same process. Desire begins with a thought. When is anyone going to admit that there’s a big LUST problem in our country? Sex and perversion is served on a platter 24/7. A lot of it is designed to trap you in your mind. Satan gets a lot of people, especially the “intelligent” folks through their minds. I know, Pittboi, b/c when it came to building an argument. I used to sound a lot like you when arguing for something I truly believed.
When I chose to get born again, my core beliefs were challenged. I started looking at my heart and my life honestly and judged myself based on the Word. Most of the people trashing the Word are doing it b/c they saw who they really were, when they read the Scriptures, and didn’t like having the light shined on their ugliness. So, guess what, they run b/c they don’t want to be accountable and acknowledge the fact that THEY have chosen to be who and where they are in life.
The spirit of God in me constantly wars against “my human and natural feelings and desires”. But, I use the LIVING Word of God to help me in getting rid of those old desires and old way of thinking. I had to retrain myself to think in line with God’s way of doing things.
Pittboi, I could be right where you are, in my thinking, today. I was tried, as a young girl, by another girl. My flesh responded to that sexual touch, but my mind and spirit rose up and sounded alarms to my brain that: THIS IS WRONG!!!! GET OUT!!! As children and teenagers, we are all more vulnerable to be influenced in many ways. Thank God, that even growing up in a family that had its share of happiness and dysfunction, my parents put me in church and it planted seeds that I would later come back to.
You’ve said that you were brought up in the church and still read the Word. Well, when are you going to realize that Satan is not just going to roll over and allow this Word to minister to your heart? When are you going to think about the fact that, maybe just maybe, he put people in your path to reinforce the “feelings” you felt as a youngster and who encouraged you to go with your “feelings” and the belief that you don’t need anyone to make you “deny a fundamental aspect of who you are”?
However, when are you also going to believe that, on the other hand, God is also sending people in your path, like me, to lovingly tell you: “Pittboi, HE loves you in where you are. But, the sin has to stop. Have the courage to question your choices and try looking for Him again.”
Pittboi, you seem like a nice person. And while I’m not gonna knock who and where you are right now, I am also not going to participate in the enabling sympathies that the gay/lesbian movement seems to be pushing for in its advocacy for legitimacy. However, I am challenging you to question your decision. I am challenging you to be willing to acknowledge that, with all your intelligence, you’re still limited by what you can see and that’s not enough. Because, one day: “EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, AND EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS, THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!”

Nope, this is where we differ.
Homosexuality isn’t a learned behavior. Most other sins are.
I think you’re missing my point because it falls outside of the realm of “you’re doing this and this is bad so just stop”. Asking a homosexual to stop being gay is like asking someone to live the rest of their life hopping on one leg. Sure, you could do it, and you would always be tempted to use your other leg, and eventually you get used to it. But this doesn’t change the fact that you were born to walk on two legs.
And frankly, your message of denying all of your feelings is the biggest battle I have with my own Christianity. I grew up in the church, listening to all of this. Trust me, sister, nothing you’ve said/suggested to me is at all new, I’ve been there and heard it and tried it. And like just about every other religious homosexual I had that period of my life where everyday I hated myself for my “feelings”. These were the worst years of my life–the silence, the crying from the fear of thinking that no matter what I did, I was doomed to an eternity of hellfire, all for my “feelings”. Worrying my family because they know something’s wrong, but I’m too afraid to tell them because of fear of what they’d say. Then one day, in church actually, I just had had enough. Similar to that tried and true message of leaving your burdens on the cross, that’s what I did with my feelings. I prayed to God right there in church, and told him I didn’t know what he wanted of my life, or what was right for me, but I was going to leave my burdens on the cross, and I asked him to order my footsteps, and show me where I should go.
That was years ago. And whether or not you like it, I’m much more comfortable in my own skin, as a homosexual, than I’ve ever been. God didn’t lead me to a life of heterosexuality, God placed people in my life who made me feel comfortable with who I was, and how I could function in my life as well as my spirituality. And my own spirituality and faith in God has grown. The devil is everywhere, and no offense, but that also means the church. I honestly feel that it was the Satan, and not God, who every day for all those years made me feel guilty and ashamed and doomed for my feelings, because I know in my heart that if that had continued any longer, I most likely would have turned from Christianity completely or something much worse.
You may not agree, JQueen, and I’m not asking you to: My life and relationship with God is between God and me. So I like to keep my own spirituality out of these discussions and focus on the problem at hand. We’re all humans in this world. We’re all citizens of this country. As promised by the constitution, we’re all supposed to be treated equally. This isn’t a religious matter, and religion isn’t going to solve it. It’ll just make muddy the issues and keep us from the actual crux of the issue.
