Yes I will admit TYRA is emotional and it irks me sometimes but who I’m I to say what a person should cry for and what they shouldn’t cry for. I think she is really trying to work through some of her shit and it just so happens she’s doing it in front of the world. Like CHANTE said in her posts models are held to a different standard than everyday woman. For her as a BLACK woman to make it this far in the industry it’s understandable why she has issues. AND JUST BECAUSE YOU LOVE YOURSELF THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU ALWAYS HAVE HIGH SELF-ESTEEM. SELF-ESTEEM IS SOMETHING THAT GOES UP AND DOWN DEPENDING ON WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND YOU AND HOW YOU’RE EMOTIONALLY AFFECTED BY IT.
Since most of the people on this site are probably black when the pictures were first posted most people were like SO WHAT she gained weight big deal. But WHITE MEDIA and tabloids ran the shit in the ground and clowned her bad.
Any black woman that has WORKED in a mostly WHITE environment (especially corporate) knows the pressure of living up to their (white) standards and how it’s a constant struggle to remind yourself how beautiful being black is. But unlike modeling most of our jobs aren’t based on how skinny or pretty we are. So if we could feel the pressure at our jobs I could only imagine the pressure black models in a white dominated industry have.
Keep working on your shit Tyra. The hardest issues you ever have to deal with are your own. Which most people never do.
This woman hosts a show called America’s Next Top Model where she chooses each and every candidate based on their size and appearance. That size is always in accordance with typical high fasion standards. Tyra Banks is 5’10″ and weighs 161 pounds and says that she’s not fat? Then why is it that on Cycle 1 there was a young lady named Robin who was the same height and weight as Tyra is now, and she was deemed to be “plus size” and encouraged to lose weight? Tyra is such a hypocrite.
