For instance, on Sunday evening I attended an Oscar party hosted by a dear friend. Well, if you watched the show you know that Beyonce was seated in the front row. A Chinese girl at the party repeatedly said, “Why is Beyonce in the front row? She’s isn’t nominated. I don’t see the hype surrounding her. I mean, she’s ok.” And this was a real Chinese girl, not someone trying to be down.

And she went on and on and on.

After about the FIFTH time of her hating on Beyonce, as the only sista in attendance I finally said something. Trust me, I didn’t get loud or ghetto, not my style, but I just had to remind her that Beyonce is an accomplished singer and recently starred in one of the biggest films of the year.

“Beautiful Liar” is a nice song, I’m sure it’ll grow on me. Can’t say that for the video though. The whole time I felt like the choreography was dumbed down. Shakira can go so much harder than that. I liked some of the cinematography in “Upgrade U”, but that whole imitation of Jay thing turned me the F off. I get what she was going for though, to shut the haters up and I thought that was a cute way to do it. I like how after the vid she halfway acknowledged for the first time that homeboy is her boyfriend. You can’t be broken up unless you’re together.
