Littlebit - to answer your question, Jay-Z contributed $1 million dollars towards the victims of hurricane Katrina.
Video is ok. I really hope he comes out with a video for 30 Something…that song is fiya.

I wish I could support him but uhhh…the message is good I’ll say it. But how I see it is, his album is flopping, so he’s pimping Katrina to get attention. I hate to think this but Hov is someone I don’t trust, he’s an attention whore like Puff.

^ I agree, he is using Katrina to garner some more attention to his “BUSINESS MAN/CLEAN THE WATER IN AFRICA/MOVE THE NEW JERSEY NETS/PRESIDENT OF DEF JAM/PROMOTE BEER/BOYCOTT WINE/PROMOTE WINE/PROMOTE COKE/USE BEYONCE STATUS/GIVE KATRINA $500K/ BUT BUY BEYONCE $1MILLION DOLLAR CAR/ATTENTION WHORE/ ass agenda… Negro please! And I hate people who exploits other peoples pain and misery and heartache! GTFOH!
I am venting so never mind me, he just irks me and people swear he is doing such a great thing for the black race or something! I’m just not buying it! Peace

The video is kind of ehh, nothing biggie to me but I get the message so it’s cool. I don’t see what’s wrong with him saying how bad Katrina’s effect was, that’s how I see it. I don’t thinks he’s pimpin anything, a lot of people gave up on New Orleans and other cities affected by Katrina because it’s not on television anymore and Katrina’s gone but the damage is still there so they can use Jay Z’s video as a reminder. Don’t put him down he’s a buisness man making money by the day. And I thought he donated 1 Million but whatever, and also it’s his money…if he wants to buy his girlfriend a million dollar car he can.

This video was fucking hot. Jay-z is what I call a real rapper. That man can rap about anything. The thing that pisses me off is when people always have something negative to say about his music because they just don’t like Jay-z. Judge the music not the man. If he rapped about partying yall say “Its too commercial” If he raps about killing yall say “How is he a killer when he is he President of Def Jam?” When he raps about Money “Yall say that’s all he raps about” And when he raps about issues like Katrina yall say “He’s pimping the victims to get attention” Yall need to shut the fuck up and stop hating cause what else does he need to rap about for yall to shut the fuck up?

The song is so important, it doesnt need to be some flashy video. People are still suffering over there and if he can let millions hear his voice to try to make a difference, then whats the problem. Sometimes people there is no need to find negative things to talk about. Bottom line he has a great message!

I enjoyed it. I’m not a Hova fan at all but in 2 minutes he said a mouthful that needed to be said. It’s not about pimping the Katrina victims, however it is an ad for MTV hence the big ole MTV logo at the end of the video. I give the man much respect for this piece.

well this is music is supposed to do; portray emotions. and i am always loving it when an artist uses music for another purpose than singing about love, and in case of rappers, bling, asses, gangsta life and what not. when they do stuff like that i stands out because it is unexpected and i do not why other artist are not doing it because more people need to know those stuff. it is not the usual boring subject that every artist are singing about. And i have to that jay-z’s music change from his last album. he is a grown man now and love the fact that he does not rap like he is in his twenties. because i don’t think he could get away with that. and the rappers that do that just upset me.

i like how they did the video for black history month on mtv. i cant understand why people hate other peoples grind. is it because your life is boring??? the message was real. why does he have to make his album sell??? i dont think he really cares. it still went platinum and it was a leaked album. im loving the grown up jay. if you dont then just say you dont. you guys go in. i can see why celebs go through all of that depression from hearing the stuff people talk about them. sheeesh. support blacks dont try to break them down. we need to stick together. ya kno???

Wake the F*@K up and be aware of whats around you.

Okay. First off My Mother -in- Law was, and still is, directly affected by Katrina. She is currently living in a FEMA trailer in the front of her house. We let her listen to this song whn Jay’s album came out. She cried. It rang true. If she doesnt believe he is exploiting people for his own personal gain. then ya’ll should cease the bitchin. I love the song because he was honest. He admitted he contributed some of his money to the victims. And yes, he said technically he didn’t do shit beacause that is all he did. Give him a break. CEASE THE HATIN”

[wouldn't you loot if you didn't have the loot, babby needed food and u stuck on the roof, helicopter
swooped down just to get a scoop, through his telescopic lens but he didn't scoop you.. ]
if anyone was taking advantage of the vicitims it was the news crews who used the footage and images to garner ratings then when the next big story hit they moved on..
Jayz album is fire, Beach chair, ride, minority report are some of his best songs period. he went wrong with the commercial songs like show me what you got…
point being the video is Caliente

Im glad that someone is talking about Katrina and Neworleans because you dont hear much being said about it these days, and the devastation is still present. We cant depend on our preseident to do sh*t because ehs too busy begging for Us dollars to send overseas to other countries for a war that most of us dotn agree with! We’ll have to hope that more entertainers (esp those from the Neworleans area) use their talent to generate some much needed money for the rebuilding of Neworleans!

I like the song and the video. I’m not really a jay z fan but I’ll admit that this is actually really nice. I don’t think he’s trying to play the ppl down here and use it as a tool to boost sells. I don’t think Jay Z gave a million dollars, him and diddy gave a million dollars together. I know its nice to give but I just felt he could have gave more. He bought beyonce like a 2 million dollar Rolls Royce, he could have given more than 500,000 thousand dollars to the gulf coast cause i mean its not like he doesn’t have the money. I’ve never seen this on BET but I did see it on MTV yesterday morning.

Well I hope that since he is making videos talking about NO and hurricane Katrina he can also talk about the recent storms that took even more homes and how FEMA has yet to respond. I don’t care if people give money to a cause it is nothing like getting dirty and going there to actually help. Because when I see recent pics of NO I cannot see ANY progress with the money that was donated.

I SWEAR SOME OF THE DUMBEST MOST ILLITERATE PEOPLE POST ON CONCRETLOOP! THE SONG IS OFF HIS ALBUM SO IT’S NOT NEW, SO HOW IS HE JUST JUMPING ON THE CONSCIENCE BANDWAGON #66, HE AND PUFFY DONATED A MILLION DOLLARS A PIECE! HE EVEN CRITICIZES HIMSELF BECAUSE THAT’S ALL HE DID WAS GIVE MONEY. HE WANT’S TO DO MORE TO HELP THE PEOPLE ON NEW OELEANS
ONCE AGAIN NEW ORLEANS HAVE BEEN HIT WITH ANOTHER NATURAL DISASTER, WHO WILL HELP THE PEOPLE THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THE TORNADOS? I PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE THERE AND MAY GOD BLESS THEM.

The world needs to see the aftermath of Katrina. New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast are surviving but far from developed. I commend Jay-z, especially for critique of the INaction of those involved in the recovery effort - including himself! “Ponied up a mill, but I didn’t give my time/ so in reality, I didn’t give a dime or a damn.” Gotta love it.

this is just for people who hate Jay-Z for being himself. Somebody made a comment that he only made this song or video to sell records and that his cd is flopping. I invite you all to visit billoard.com, Kingdom Come has already sold more than 2 million records. So lets end that. And listen to the lyrics. So many people are caught up in dancing and snapping their damn fingers that they can’t catch a message if it fell in their lap. Over this next year the “good” rappers will begin to make more mature music after hearing music Jay is putting out. Understand what the man is doing. If you’re over 21 and you think D4L are good rappers, Jay-Z’s album is made for you. Hip Hop — PLEASE GROW UP!
