This is a testament to her character and maturity level. This is not a should or shouldn’t - this is her CHOICE. There are a ton of people that are being critical of her because she has a personal belief system, and she stands by it, and she’s authentic with it, and based on that, she has made her stance, at whatever cost.

She is making her decision known ahead of time, and she can go forward with that. There was a comment that was said that if she plans on making it in Hollywood (comment 14) that she should rethink her decision. Frankly, if the purpose, pattern, and plan of her life includes her blowing up in Hollywood - Nothing will stop her. There are innumerable white actresses that have chosen not to disrobe (and not play in movies as such) and are successful as a result of it.

What is the point of her profiting off of something that she is not comfortable being a part of.

This, to me, means that she cannot be bought for a price. That doesn’t mean that I knock anybody who does choose to do a nudity scene, or be in a movie that includes nudity scenes - but this is something that she has chosen not to do.

And I applaud her for being incredibly strong in an era where most people submit (either by force, (contractually or otherwise), to what other people want them to do.

This is a testament to her character. This is neither a right nor a wrong to do. This is her CHOICE. Her belief system is what she holds steadfast to, what keeps her alive, and what makes her who she is. To compromise that (based on her intrepretation of what she should and should NOT do) would be absolutely tragic.

Someone had mentioned above that if she plans on making it in Hollywood, that she needs to rethink some of her decisions. Bill I have three words for you Cuba Gooding Junior. You say because she JUST won an award Hollywood should be “writing scripts for her that suit her personality.” Tell that to Cuba, or Marissa Tome, or Helen Hunt, or the loads of other people who have won Oscars and moved on to doing crap. I just doesn’t work like that. Winning doesn’t mean you get to dictate what you want, all Hollywood can do is offer you roles and you can accept or decline.

Contrary to popular belief 3 mill is a lot of money, she can’t be compared to Nicole Kidman or Reese because she isn’t on their level with the acting, she hasn’t put in the time so why she expect the money. It is also a lot of money if you don’t have it and she doesn’t have it.

Trust me, I think the pastor and church will be just fine as long as she gives her percentage (tithings) I don’t see them giving a DARN about what roles she takes on as long as the pastor and his wife stay FLY. Sorry, that was wrong of me.

But from what I hear, she was no angel in Dream Girls either.
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with having morals and I kiiiiiiiiiinda understand where she is coming from. But before she turns down the next role. Because if this is the career she really wants there is only so far she can go if she nit picks like this. Let’s face it Tyler Perry is the money maker, not necessarily his cast and being in his movies hasn’t really catapolted anyone’s career.

If Jen doesn’t watch out she is going to be doing one of those traveling shows like “Momma’ please Don’t Burn My Ear With the Pressing Comb.”

I saw all of this to say, she needs to choose wisely because you can’t please everyone. And chances are the same folks in the church and elsewhere who you are worried about judging you are doing more dirt. And in the end, you don’t want to sit back kicking yourself for making a decision based on what others will think of you. I bet had she been offered that role before Dream Girls, she would have taken it without hestitation.
