Fantasia’s official next single is ‘When I See You’ off her sophomore self titled album. Yesterday, she was spotted in New York city filming the video for the song. You guys may have heard a clip of it already here in Angel’s post, or in Brian’s music review.
In related news, girlfriend has got ‘The Color Purple’ ticket dates selling out like crazy. I was invited on a trip to see the musical myself, and I just may have to go.
Beyonce - Welcome to Hollywood (full) - download
This is basically the same as “Hollywood” from Jay-Z’s “Kingdom Come,” with some added vocals and adlibs and less Hov. It’s interesting to see what Beyonce did with his parts. Apparently, for some odd reason, this is going to be on the re-release of “B’Day” (due out April 3) as if it’s something that we’ve never heard before. I’m not hating, I just don’t really see how it fits into the rest of the album. But I’ll admit it, Beyonce’s re-recorded vocals and adlibs are pretty fun.
Sterling Simms - Nasty Girl (full) - download
So much better than that “Jump Off” mess that Sterling is trying to put out right now. Although I can see why this isn’t a single, “Nasty Girl” is giving me what I need. It has a very retro feel and I’m also digging Sterling’s delivery on this song. Those who know me, and have been reading the site for a while, know that I’m absolutely in love with Prince’s music and it definitely gives me that kind of vibe. If there is more material on his album like this, and less like “Jump Off,” I’m definitely in support of it. Because this is dope.
The GLAAD Media Awards took place last night- recognizing and honoring “mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives”.
So, I guess you’re wondering why Jennifer Hudson and Patti Patti were there…
Looks weird doesn’t it? Yet it’s still fly in that Beyonce would only do it type of way. A couple of still clips from Beyonce’s B’Day Video Anthology DVD have been circulating the net a few days now, which is pretty meaningless since the videos didn’t popped up with them.
But, I might as well add my comments on these stills. Again…weird, but fly in that Beyonce would only do it way.
There has been alot of attention on the April 2007 issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine, which features an article with SWV ex-member Leanne “Lelee” Lyons.
Lelee talked to Jamie Foster about her life - before, during, and after SWV - where she was very open with her past struggles. Until now, no one really knew anything about her, especially since ex-members Coko and Taj are still in the spotlight one way or another these days.
Lelee discussed everything from having her first child at 15, to the industry screwing her over, and to her being so homeless to the point where she had to stay in gay clubs. Rumors have speculated that Lelee was infact, a lesbian - though she said in the interview she was seeing somebody (male or female - that I don’t know).
But despite all that, it’s pretty sad if RCA only gave the woman $25,000 when SWV dismantled, which ended up going towards her mother’s funeral and burial. As popular as these girls were? RCA could do better than that!
