First off I’m mad people are cussing me out for not reporting about Sinbad’s passing. He is not dead and yes I was aware of the rumor, but didn’t want to post anything until I read an official report.

EUR’s Lee Bailey has spoken with the comic’s brother and manager, Mark Adkins, who confirms that the former star of “A Different World” is alive and well (Listen to phone conversation below).
“That was a vicious rumor, I don’t know where it came from, but it started last weekend,” Mark, the head of a promotions company in Los Angeles, told Bailey on the phone Thursday afternoon. “It just started circulating around the country, and today I got more calls than any.”
“On Saturday I started getting a lot of comedians calling me saying that they heard Sinbad had passed away,” Mark continued. “Then it had died down for a couple of days and we thought it was just a little local rumor, but then it went across the country. I got calls from Detroit and New York, radio stations calling. I guess there’s some sort of obituary or something on the e-mail blast that made it seem real.”

Okay.. Today is my very FIRST time of EVER hearing anything about Sinbad being dead.. I received several emails today from coworkers… I had no idea you guys were being FLOODED with emails about it…

People think he’s dead because of a rumor and now because Wikipedia added it to his profile.
Wikipedia is not credible and a majority of articles are written by normal people and sometimes tabloid mags; not real journalist and other credible sources.
Actually Wikipedia just got into a dispute over slander; which someone wrote in a celebs biography article. STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU HEAR PEOPLE!

Whenever I hear a rumor about someone dying I always go to news.yahoo.com and type in their name in the search box. Yahoo gets their news from AP and Reuters who are very reliable.

Someone at my job e-mailed me this and I clicked on the link and that what it said. That mean somebody got to much time on their hand and they need to quit speaking death on other people thats not good at all
Thank you, Angel!! Everybody was kept posting about this, and besides, coverage like Tom Joyner would have said something. And why would someone make something so evil and vicious about Sinbad? They will get theirs though.

People don’t realize that ANYBODY can go on Wikipedia and put anything. I got three emails today on this and all three were from Wikipedia. I didn’t see it on BET, EUR, or any of the other black entertainment blogs so I knew it was not true.
Let’s hope this awful rumor “revives” Sinbad’s career. We haven’t heard much from him lately, so maybe there’s truth to “It’s not what they are sayin’, just as long as they are talkin’ aboutcha” will bring some bounce to Lil Walter!!!
I got a text message about this and I figured it wasn’t true. People are so wrong. The grave you dig for another just might become your own. I’m glad to hear that he’s alive and well.
Yeah I heard this on our local radio station here in Fayetteville, NC I called my sister and she said it was on the radio back in Detroit

Angel – you read my mind. I was one of those that was flooded with the lie too. It makes me so upset how quickly people will flood your inbox with some half-researched lie. What if a friend of his mom’s got the e-mail and decided to ‘break the news’ to her? This is part of a bigger problem. People (and particularly older people of color) do not take the time to research the stuff that they’re forwarding. If I get another f’n e-mail about AOL teaming with Microsoft to send me a twenty for every person I forward a message to, I’m going to start replying with mail bombs.
I wrote a little something about this on my blog. (Not promoting – just saying.) In general I think people just like to believe lies. There’s no fun in the truth. I can barely think of any actors of color who have not been accused of being gay. And perhaps some are. But why the fascination? Because it’s *juicy*! We need to stop forwarding e-mails and start actually *writing* them.
