Radio has seemed to have taking a liking to Ciara’s new single, “Like A Boy,” produced and written by The Clutch. The video edit is a little different than the album version and the version played on the radio. I’d gotten a couple of e-mails about the video version of the song after the video was posted here, so I decided I’d posted up for those who were eager to get their hands on it.

Several weeks ago, I posted a version of “Beautiful Liar” with just Beyonce, but she’s added Shakira to the song, and yesterday, premiered a video for the song. I wasn’t fond of it then, and although I like the video, I’m still not particularly keen on the song. I don’t think it fits the overall tone of “B’Day,” and I really don’t see why it’s being put on the re-release, which is due out April 3rd. But nonetheless, it is Beyonce, and there is a video, which has Shakira in it, so the general public will probably be in love with it.

Chilli is making an emergence into the solo scene with a new album. Sources have said that she’s working Akon’s Konvict Music label, who has brought you T-Pain. I remember reading somewhere that Akon was producing a large portion of the album, however this new song, which I am definitely not fond of, seems like it was produced by Missy Elliott (considering her guest feature), and has Sean Garrett on the writing credits. I think Chilli either needs to hit the studio again or just throw in the towel. She’s not even really singing on this song.
Johnta Austin & Mary J. Blige – Hood Love (full) – download
Johnta Austin’s single “Turn It Up” got a little radio play, there was a vide for it, but for some reason, that wasn’t enough to jump it off into any sort of success, which seems to be the trap that a lot of writers-turned-artists of our time. They can get success for everyone but themselves. Either way, I am a fan of Johnta’s music just because he is such a talented guy. This is a classic Bryan-Michael Cox track, I’m definitely loving the production. I believe I read somewhere that this song would be left off of Johnta’s debut album.
major props to Ciara. she should have been a 1 hit wonder like tieara marri/brooke valentine yet she’s come back harder than ever & her album’s already gone platinum. for someone who can’t sing amazingly (she’s not actually that bad a singer & she sure as hell ain’t a Cassie).

As far as the new music review, not really feeling any of the songs. Straight Jack was cool before Chilli opened her mouth. The beat was on point. Nice to dance/work-out to.
“Straight Jack” was produced by Polow Da Don.
“Like A Boy” was produced by Calvo Da Gr8
“Straight Jack” sounds like it most probably originally recorded to Blindfold Me but Kelis jumped at it first and Polow had to go in and redo it.
Pretty underwhelming regardless.
Missy’s production always sucks , it only seems to work for her.

kind of random, but they’ve been playing the Kelly Rowland and Eve song, and it sound good on the radio. I know it’s more of girl’s song, but I found myself bobbing my head to it on the way home from the gym the other day! haha
Ciara is a studio gimmick. She sings every other word live (like Rihanna) to sound like she’s singing live. She can dance, but who can’t? I wouldn’t want her dancing skills or body – it’s too boyish and that’s how men look at her – “Like A Boy.”
Chilli was done when she was on TLC. Who’s surprised?
BEYONCE & SHAKIRA – ABSOLUTE FIYAH! This track sounds like it was made to suit Shakira (low vocals, low bass, etc.) and the video is classy without them even trying. I love the song (the lyrics are the truth) and them looking like twins in the video – HAUT! I’m also an even bigger fan of Beyonce’s now that she’s shown the world she can dance alongside Shakira – KEEP UPGRADING THESE BEE-YATTCHES BABY!!
Johnta Austin can’t get off because he wrote everything just about for Usher and his sounds already out – under another face. He should’ve come out first because now he can’t find a crowd to follow him. Yes, he wrote for Mary and others, but his own single sounds like an Usher song and that’s why he can’t get off.

Feelin the Johnta, his style and song for a while…but there is something element missing from making it a monster hit.
Hittin main stream is also hard…and i feel that he doesnt have the “it” look…so hes gonna have to step up his game alot harder.

Beyonce’s B-day was not worth of all the buzz. Shakira is an amazing artist and I was expecting more from the two…just shows two big names put together doesn’t always equal magic.

The new Beyonce and Shakira song is hot. It’s a good thing Mr. Knowles stepped in and suggested Shakira in the first place. The original doesn’t sound good with just Beyonce singing. But Shakira totally goes off on this joint and we all know that Beyonce didn’t write this track because the lyrics are mature and they make sense.
Ciara’s song is alright. Beyonce and Shakira’s song is nice. That Chilli track is alright to me, I feel where she’s coming from at this point. I love Johnta Austin and Mary J.’s track.

I’m feeling the Ciara song and the video is cute. Everything else need to backtrack, rewind and redo! #44 maybe the style did favor shakira a little bit more but beyonce is still young and experimenting as an artists. of course she’s gonna cross some borders and try different styles until she fines where she’s most comfortable at. she’s gonna put out stuff that resemble other artists styles but becuz she’s already so huge everybody wants to make a big deal out of it.
